i think that maybe its the haggis that runs away clockwise around the mountain, and if you run anticlockwise, you'll find it, while if you run clockwise, you wont find it, because the haggis will be running away from you?

Here's a wild one for you. Got this mela as an initial spawn on Mississippi when first exploring it, then about a year and a half later(this past thanksgiving) decided to go check my my turkeys for the event and got this Albino...IN THE EXACT SAME ZONE!

Yall may or may not agree, but one of my dream trophies is a SR Piebald Axis Deer. I think they have one of the most amazing looking furs. The piebald pattern, but still has the normal brown and white spots from the regular fur mix in. Imho top 3 fur in the game.

I never do random MP, and have only done MP with friends maybe 5 times lol. I like the progress I make on my map to stay there lol. Why work on something if it's not gonna stay? I basically HM everything I do, even roaming not just grinds. My maps are awesome.

If it's on your map and you're host whatever is done by you and other people will be there...if you're on someone else's map though any progress you make doesn't transfer to your map.

You get to keep trophies you find in MP.

Any trophy you get on PC or Xbox in a MP server, you better check the rest of the map to make sure it's not modded with a bunch of stuff and that your trophy is legit.

I think it's fine, if someone opens up their map they know what they're getting into. I get why people do it, you can find tons of initial spawn trophies on people's maps in MP. Especially low lvl players with their map unsearched.

I just like HM'ing all species on my maps and creating my own worlds. 😄

and since everyone hunts differently if you check a place the map owner doesnt have zones where you normally have zones theres a good chance those animals havent ever been seen before

It's really simple tbh. If an animal goes up to lvl 3, try and get everything down to lvl 1's or small 2's other than your main zones you rotate on. If they go up to lvl 5, same thing. If they go up to lvl 9, you want 4's and below.

I do it even roam hunting though. Leave small animals and shoot big animals and it eventually drives all species up on your map and you get constant trophies when you hunt any of your maps. 😄

Honestly it's not even that difficult and you can just use partial HM. Any solos, just shoot them until they join a herd, or if they're small just leave them and ignore them. Just pick 8-10 zones you like that have decent animals and just start shooting the 2 biggest males from each zone. It's that easy.

you can rotate the 7ish lakes in an egg shape in silver ridge peaks for black bear

it's somewhat easy to manage

i kinda messed up my herd management on red deer i ended up with all my solos being big, but it still works since there isnt many spawn spots they will jump around to

but at least it makes it so you don't have to pick 1 animal out of a herd of 30

I go nuts with my HM though, like my red deer on Te Awaroa...I get a max lvl 9 every 5-10 kills. Sometimes I'll get 3-4 dimes in 10 kills lol. Before I ever shoot a single animal on a grind, I search and find every single zone, and mark them on a map. I am kinda OCD with my HM though...I go overboard. For example, this is my Boars on Cuatro that I searched and found all my zones with 20 minutes left before Scotland dropped lol.

I just feel like 220 yards is a little overkill.
Like most guns are hardly rated for 150 yards tops.
We don't have great scopes either.

Sometimes I barely get into an outpost and my drink zones are spooked because a lake is like 200 yards out from the outpost

I don't mind it much anymore. I just had to adjust my grinds a little bit and back to normal. The respawn timer kinda sucks, and them not respawning when exiting to menu or being off your map anymore sucks a bit too, but it is what it is.

i think most of my tents are like 205-210, 4-10 scope is my go to now. but grinding wise i just go for over kill and learn the drops. .300 at 150m zero with 4-10 is is just below top of the back for red deer at 300m, i have one lake where i heart shot 5 back to back

I also have yet to discover what guns to use for grinding. I use the 7mm malmer like 90% of the time unless it's a smaller animal then I use the zarza guns which I genuinely hate

System>Settings>Controller> Look sensitivity 3, Aim Sensitivity 2, Left stick Deadzone 15%, Right stick Deadzone 10%.

^give that a try. It'll move quickly but not too quick, and smoothly. Great for follow up shots, and multiple animals.

I love the zarza 22, I know it has fewer shots but it's quieter, just for my ears and it seems to not spook as close. Zero recoil basically too.

My only issue with it is usually it feels like the gun isn't shooting where I'm aiming. Like it either is way high or way low

But it probably also doesn't help that irl I'm generally shooting my animals from 300-600 yards so like in game I can't do that and I keep expecting to be able to

With those settings I just gave you, basically just try to get close to the same as the zero range and on almost all animals aim just behind the shoulder in the middle. You'll 99% of the time hit vitals.

Yup, and one was recently gotten with a feed time of 02:00-04:00. So that pretty much confirms they feed constantly in 2 hour windows all day and night. After Mel's vid where she studied their movements too, they don't travel far between feed zones. She even had 2 different time windows on the same zone lol.

I still think it's one of a few things. It could actually be finishing Mission #2, which IS this Haggis mission and leads you into Haggis regions, and across the waterline. That or just crossing into the Haggis region over a border triggers it because people have gotten them without missions. The only other thing I can think of is either killing grouse or deer as that's something most people who have gotten them have in common.

My personal opinion is since some people haven't done missions and found them, it's simply crossing the waterline border that triggers or the border line into Heighrig/Northern 2/3 of the map.

Load map for first time. Intro dialogue, walk to outpost, maybe spot some animals, hear a couple calls, wander through outpost, get dialogue for 2nd mission, walk towards bagpipe bench, get distracted, hunt a little, kill things... So on and so forth... Nothing stands out that would also make sense for a trigger that people searching and searching wouldn't have done by now

NEM is great for duck extermination aswell, 3 lakes in bootom middle part of map is where all duck species homerange overlaps and I have my tripod/decoys setups on all those 3 lakes so when I don't feel like running or grinding for G1 I go there and shoot 50-100 ducks, great times

1000000% worth getting it. It's super valuable on Scotland. It searches out animals for you and points them, and when maxed will even highlight them somtimes. Works incredibly well on the small fast animals on Scotland. You don't need it to find the mink in the water at night though. You can just run around and listen for calls and spot them yourself.

Once you get it fully maxed out, you can give it a secondary skill and make it a bloodhound too. Perfect combo.

Yep, that's good for birds and small game. Pointer/Bloodhound or Bloodhound/Pointer is a great combo though. Honestly the Pointer/Bloodhound is the best way because it runs faster.

When you do you'll change your mind on the bloodhound. Unless you heart shot moose they can run for ages, and pretty much anything that drinks at night like wolves you want a bloodhound for.

Anywhere that has dense brush or tall grass you can lose your harvest easily too.

Yep it's pretty good for the heather too with the minks/badgers/martens/birds.

I guess it's time to get back to searching Haggis. I'm pretty well convinced mine is in An Cul or northern Pinegate IF it's on my map. With as much as I've searched all the other areas I don't think it's at them.

Keen Eye is an “activate” skill that you can do at the lookout every 30 minutes (cooldown). What I did is put a tent right next to the lookout, activate my skill, it discovers between 3-6 zones, then quit the game, and reload, which puts you at that tent, and repeat. You can do this repeatedly until ALL zones within a 400m radius are discovered for all times. It takes forever.
