Some amazing lion mounts from Life Form taxidermy
#AFRICA BIG FIVE (Africa 2.0 + Class 10 Weapons) šæš¼šæš¦
1 messages Ā· Page 12 of 1
Took a bit huh? They blend in so well it ain't funny. Reminded me of hunting mulies in the high sage
Awsome
I'm gonna be honest here, there's something not right with the look of them. The first two look like the exact same manaquin without any change. But most large scale taxidermy places don't make them as custom. If you want a pose they'll do it exact and not change a thing. Also me and my dad do taxidermy, he's won best of state in Utah and a ton of other awards and ribbons. I just wonder how they think the eyes looks good, they look rough to me.
You need to show some of your work now, youāve poked my curiosity
My dad does the taxidermy, but I help build the rocks and habitat.
I like painting replica fish personally. But I'm gonna mount my WT I shot this year in Wyoming
Itās amazing⦠for a lion
Iāll give credit where credit is due, big cat taxidermy is unimaginably hard to pull off.
yeah, im just harsh i guess
My bad, wrong channel.
Actually no, has anyone here been fishing while they were in Africa?
Yes
We need #1241417134832222319 badly š
This was from 6 June last year. It was a cold week lol
Omg, a snowy Africa map would absolutely kill it. Idky but I would legitimately love to see that so very much
An African map based in the Eastern cape would be able to have a snowy feature like Yukon does, and it'd be awesome
As long as the hunting is good I'm all for it. It'd be nice to see some variations in the weather and terrain. Maybe the snow could hold on two or three in game days
Anyone got any good Cheetah Taxidermy mounts?!
Outside my post
First 2 are from life form, last one is from Splitting Image
I personally think, even though it can snow in Africa, I don't think it would be appropriate. It's just me but I don't think it would fit, and a majority of people don't know that it can snow in Africa.
Precisely why it would be such a hook. It was chaos when Texas got hit with snow, so I can imagine a reserve in Africa suddenly getting snow would be in deep trouble. There would be a huge amount t of repairs, problems, and outright terrible conditions to deal with aside from the regular reserve issues like poachers or crowding. It would creat an entire mission line. Maybe so much damage has been done that Njabulo has sent you to help out with the recovery process
-# my bad
Not big deal, and snow would complicate so much more than the game wardens jobs. Think of how tan animals hide in white environments
In very cold areas hyenas and lions coats grow longer
While I would prefer a savanna for a big 5 experience, itās not like Iād necessarily complain if they did a snowy setting for a certain species selection
Awesome
The face on the one is like he's been on crack š¤£
It would make for a good Narrative point. I wouldn't mind it at all honestly. Revontuli & SP were more like tours & it did bug me it didn't have more like the previous reserves did. I enjoy the immersive engagement from the storyline which 1 reason why I prefer TheHunter over other titles. I wish I could have 2-3 hunter profiles so I could replay it w/o losing all my progress š
I think a snowy African map would work well after a couple other African map drops, the same as the small game African map some people have been bringing up recently. Dunno if itād really want it as my first or second African map after waiting so long but I could def see it after a few
I definitely agree it could be nice as a 3rd or 4th African map. I think it'd be cool if it was a Eastern/Western Cape mixed map with the same feature as Yukon but it lasts, say, an in-game day and it's rather rare, like rain on vurhonga rare or a little more even
Lesotho snowy map as the last map for the game wouldn't be a bad legacy. Lol.
Consmfession time.
I have CotW on ps5 and whenever I feel like it I'll make a guest account to that has no psn to play through again without losing anything on my main account lol
King cheetah too
Beautiful
Yup
That makes sense
I have 2 family accounts on my Xbox, and I'm the only one who plays COTW so I do pretty much the same thing
Would it be called that in-game or would it be called pseudomelanistic
Would it be called that in-game or would it be called pseudomelanistic
Never thought of that bc I thought they changed it 2 console updates ago. But that helps I'll look into it.
With my main signed in alongside the family acc, I have access to all of the DLCs too
Guys. . . WTH IS THIS?!
A nightmare, thatās what that is
That's what I'm saying, this thing is a monstrosity
It holds 10 rounds per mag
Donāt give EW any ideas
The only hunt I think you could legally bring that is an Alaska brown bear, or a bison hunt. But you could use other calibers for those. Itās just absolutely insane
"Can we do this?" Not "Should we do this?" Type of thinking
You know some JA in Texas is taking this thing out for cape and water buffalo
Undoubtably. Probably because itās the only place you could legally hunt with that
You could legally hunt with it just about anywhere in America if you could afford the 200 per magazine worth of ammo
I suppose you could hunt dragons with it
They damn better not call it pseudomelanistic, that would just ruin it in my opinion.
Holy God
For those blasted dragons that keep taking the cattle, you know how it is
Matthew McConaughey woul've loved to have this thing in Reign of Fire lmao
Good movie, but I'm getting ready to watch the ghost and the darkness
Yep, although I wish there was more consistency about dragon durability.
Supposedly being able to take hits from missiles and anti tank guns and thereby overwhelming the world's armies but a single explosive crossbow bolt with maybe a 1/4lb TNT yield killed the big old bull. Suspension of disbelief murdered.
Ghost and the Darkness is also a very fun watch.
I'm brewing tea and cooking venison kabobs, movie night
I saw this yesterday morning and started hoping EW doesn't ever see this one
We get a .458 I want it to be a single shot like a Ruger No. 1
I don't mind if it's a bolt gun but either a single shot or a bolt, no semi's for me
I'm hoping for one of these
It would also just be a carbon copy of the arzyna as the .300 model (the one more commonly in production) is what they used as reference to make the aryzna iirc
Ooh so the Arzyna is that rifle, I was wondering
Well here's something else that's absolutely ridiculous. This is a .45-70 AR
Can we just not? Please
It's fascinating how y'all be crazy over rifles lol for me there's two types old rifle and new rifle
Yeah, a lot of us are gun nuts.
Anyway, .318 Westley Richard's with an extended 7 round magazine and ammo example. Funny thing is it's actually a .33 caliber bullet
I don't judge you
WR Falling Block. You can get these in tons of calibers new and old
I love the extended Magazine WR rifles so much, would love to see them in all the different calibers in game
I'd legitimately pay 20$ real cash for an update adding the ability to change calibers for all the guns and a few new fancy ones
Such a beautiful rifle.
As much as I wanna say I'd never spend that much on a feature like that....I probably would lol
I'd want like 5 rifles, and a handgun or two, but I would. And none of then could be AR types or it can wait til a big sale
100% agree with that
I just don't care for ar type guns that much and the ones we have cover all they need to anyway
Genuinely don't see how this man survived. He was lucky af and this is part f the reason I wanna see hippos in game
There was a guy in the Kruger park that had a run in with an elephant a few days ago. Wasn't so lucky
Since we have rambolo's model in game shouldn't they be able to use it for the hippo frame? It could be similar enough.
Also, was it a rogue elephant or an idiot tourist?
Apparently the family stopped at the crocodile river gate, the kids ran off into the bush where an elephant from on of the nearby herds broke off and charged them, then the man (not sure if he was the father or grandfather, I've heard grandfather though) tried to help the kids and then the elephant trampled him
Ah that's not great, did they provoke it somehow?
Not sure, could always be a bull in musth or a cow with little babies though
Last day in Africa!
Just cause the model is in game doesnāt mean itās rigged up properly for animations or even rigged up at all. But it would be nice to see hippos in game.
Maybe not, but it is a baseline they can start with. They modeled the body shape and skin at least so it should save them a bit of time.
I say that, but there design and tech for making the animals more realistic has moved ahead by leaps and bounds so it might be best if they start over or use only the basic body shape
Just got back from a walk, saw Zebra, blesbok, springbok, a bushbuck ewe and 2 young leopard tortoises
Lekker
I WANT TO HUNT ZEBRAS!!! š¦š¦š¦

Shift ending?
Tour is ending
Very nice, i wish you safe travels than
Dankie boet
Well thatās a bad situation to be in
And one situation Iāve been in
Sub optimal for sure
How does this happen
I sincerely hope it's just itchy
This is in Classic and it's a beauty there so it would look even better in Call of the Wilds modern graphics. The cartridge is 9.3x62mm literally made for Africa btw, but it's a slick straight pull I wish we had
Letās hope so!
Hyena variants been discussed?
AFRICA BIG FIVE (Africa 2.0 + Class 10 Weapons) šæš¼šæš¦
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Mr. Harry Wolhuter
Mr. Wolhuter was one of the Kruger National Parks first rangers. In 1904, Mr. Wolhuter was riding along a road just after sunset when he was attacked by 2 lions. He was toppled from his horse and a lion dragged him about 100m into the bush when in a semi-conscious state, he reached for his knife and stabbed the lion to death. The Lion dropped him and he climbed a tree before the second lion could get him. The second lion was distracted by his dog, Bull, who was barking his head off. Wolhuter survived the attack and lived quite the life there after.
Awsome stuff
That's the mustache I want
Boer War Mauser, 7x57mm, and man someone took good care of it
I NEED a boer war Mauser 1893/95 in 7x57. Preferably a bent bolt version and maybe a version with a plain stock and another with the well known engraved stocks.
I haven't been able to find much so far, but of the more normal colours that hyena come in, there are a few possible variants. As for other rarer variants all I found is Leucistic and Melanistic
These guys are super cool
Jislaaik š
Aren't hyenas taboo in some cultures? Like they consider it really bad luck if you kill one?
Also, how about a 4 bore flintlock?
I WANT TO HUNT ZEBRAS!!! š¦š¦š¦
This might be an eryhristic, as a rare option
And thatās 11111 comments
These are really good!
Yeah, I think they would be cool to have in the game because Africa doesnāt have a great one species. Neither does class 9, so thatās where I agree with flinter on a Cape buffalo great one. I might make that one next.
I started some concept art work on a GO buff, its in the early stages though
I'd like a battle scarred old bull with a broken off horn. Something that just showed he's got no fear
And dried blood on his neck meat
A torn ear wouldn't hurt (us)
God that would hurt
Would hurt the buffalo, I see. Maybe Iāll draw one.
Fabled fur type : battle hardened
Sure. Put him in a new ābreadwinnerā multimount but with the cape beating the lions.
Nah,
Fabled fur type : Warlord
I laughed out loud because of how cool FABLED WARLORD would be. Iāll make it for sure.
Better yet
Fabled fur type : the debt collector
WTF kind of a color would that have?!
I say that because I actually knew an Angus bull called Warlord.
He was blind in one eye, had a broken horn, and scarred all over from fighting with literally everything. Trucks, other bulls, trees, barbwire fences
Dang, ok. Did you eat him? Screw slow mode.
A suit and tie with glasses
A very scary one
!
No, he was a rodeo star. Killed two riders, fathered three other bulls with poor tempers, Atila, Twister and Bast*rd
Goodness
I had an idea for one based on the lyrics of a Johnny Clegg song.
Fabled Fur type: Umkosibovu which means Lord Red or the Red King
That also is a good idea. Battle theme would be a great theme for a fabled buffalo.
Tyrant would be a good name for a bull with horns pointed forward
Sure would
The amount of likes and interactions this post regularly gets is far more than any other. People want Africa 2.0.
Ja the song is about him being a battle hardened bull and all
And keep it up, gang! This is fun!
I donāt expect EW to come out with the map though. It is very far-fetched. Iām looking forward to Ultimate Hunting to be the superior game for this.

Here's the song, if you wanna get in the mood for Africa 2.0 and a GO Cape Buffalo
I could see several good names for this old boy
Hereās some ideas
Iām off to draw.
I'd hope something that helps define a old dagga boy GO buff is that it's really tough to hunt, cunning and super aggressive when it has the drop on you
Can you imagine being charged by a G1 Cape buffalo! Now that would be cool
That black brown bull looks awesome
I will definitely be playing that when it comes out. Planning on upgrading from the Xbox One S to an Xbox Series X in April. I'm going to play Hunting Sim 3 and WotH, too. Going to play and enjoy it all, and hopefully these companies keep sharpening one another with each new release.
Hunting Simulator 3 is new to me, hadn't heard of it. I love WotH for the rifles and how the ballistics work but the tier system bugs me and it gets boring fast
I do wish cotw would take some inspiration cough #1268661445097422908
I'm really curious about all of it. COTW is the first and only hunting game I've played since Cabela's African Safari on the 360, so I'm open to experiencing the very best and latest in the genre. I've really enjoyed COTW, though!
I mean yeah, try all of them but try to catch sales at least, you never know.
I got hunting Sim 2 for 7 dollars us and it turned out to be pretty good for me
Oh for sure.
Horns aside, that bucks hide is absolutely gorgeous, I'd have to preserve it at least
Lol
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1336821988718809119 made this to archive anything interesting thatās Africa related
If you find something thatās interesting, please share it
How many of you would pay for a specifically African themed rifle pack? I'd honestly buy it with no hesitation just because of how incredible they look. These are from Rigby's rifle company
No question. Gimme. Lol
I don't know how to describe that 2 from the bottom rifle but that barrel is amazing
A safari weapons pack would be so awesome
If I had to choose them, 2 bolt actions, one double barrel rifle, and one Farquarhson type single shot
Absolutely
Made this just as a general call for them, if you guys can add reasons or cool info please do
I would go for a ruger no 1, a double barrel(rifle), a bolt action(preferably the westly richards 425), and a Winchester 1895
Thatās my dream safari weapon pack list
Double barrel rifle or shotgun? I have an idea for both
Both over unders are Westley Richard's models, a side lever 16ga and on the case is a .500 Nitro Express. Either would be incredible and an over under rifle could be any number of calibers
Beautiful firearm
So I learned a little earlier that the biggest lesser kudu bulls still weigh less than a big Northern whitetail buck, and I was sort of wondering if anyone would be against making them a tough class 3 ( mostly because it would be more incentives for the devs to make the .270 a 3-7)
Youād have to drag a lot of species down to class 3 as well if they do that, blacktail, blue sheep, snow leopard, fallow deer, and 3 of the ibex all weigh less than the kudu comparing their in game weights.
Classes need full reworks anyway
^
The map I spend most my time on is still Nepal as I do my tiger grind and then run around for snow leopards waiting for them to respawn. The amount of time Iād spend spread across (hopefully) 3+ new different African maps would be insane with all the appealing big cats available and in general big game. Still gunna keep randomly popping in here like this to show my support!
Just make the .270 a 3-8 rifle.
Yeah but itād be a bit funny for an animal thatās in game weight is heavier than the whitetail to be a class 3, granted itās only by 10-5kg but still. Fully support the .270 being a 3-7 though.
Agreed
I really want to see a big change in how the ballistics system works, just make it more like Classic and let us use the rifles we want on the animals we want without penalties
I think that'd be one of the best changes to CotW, to have a system more akin to the Classic system....or even the WotH system regarding caliber/animal classes
Classic absolutely has the better system, it makes so much more sense I have no idea why they didn't just port it straight across and let the weapons be as versatile as they really are
What do you guys think about taking the mechanic that Grey Wolves currently have in game, whereby they can howl but it creates a sort of "non-investigable" audio clue and applying it to other animals like lion and Jackal ?
Makes sense to me, you can hear lions like 5 miles away anyway
Didn't know this was possible and I'm sure this thing would kick like a mule....Ruger No.1 but it's in .577 Nitro Express
Oooo
That sounds like a shoulder breaker
Imagine the damage from it
On you or the target?
š«£
.35 Whelan will do the work and not breat your shoulder, plus I like the simple design
About that, if you hear that is the audio spatially correct? If I travel towards a Wolves howl I'm headed towards the Wolves?
In my experience, yes
I have found wolves before by following the audio but not every time so I'm not sure if the times that I have that it was just luck or if it's legitimate
Based on thr current, woeful class system in game, would the .35 Whelen be a 4-9, 5-9 or a 6-9 ?
I'd love for it to be a 4-9 with better penetration than the 7mm but I'd settle for just having it in game
Only around 250 more votes and we hit 2000!
Close range 7mm would be ideal
Found this beautiful .416 Rigby
Lekker!
Have yāall considered 8.6blk for a weapon for Africa itās a new round to the market and Iāve heard itās pretty affective
yup
I personally would love to see it in a rifle modeled after the Q Fix with a 12" barrel and suppressor or a Remington 700 with a Faxon 12" barrel and suppressor. I'm hoping it'd be similar to the .45 PCP air rifle in game in terms of noise that it makes when using subsonic ammo, but with 50m, 100m and 150m zeroing and that it'll be somewhere in the class 2-9 range, something like that
pmuB
Found this cool lookin Zebra
nice
I just wanna see hartebeest of various sorts tbh
What do you guys think of this mess?
ew
Absolutely not what I would want in this game. If they are going to do another Africa it needs to be big and much better than Vurhonga
In future, after Africa 2.0, I think a small game map based on a farm in Africa could be nice, but its definatly going to have to take back seat to a new propper Africa 2.0 with big game
nice Kruger park Giraffe
Diamond giraffes are likely going be really interesting to see EW implement whenever they get added. Old bulls get darker with age and clearly that is a VERY old bull. Likely Diamond material. I canāt imagine EW would skip out on that aspect of giraffe conservation and hunting.
It'll be interesting for sure. From what I understand, giraffe trophies are 'scored' primarily by their size and their pattern. So it would be interesting to see if EW combines the two or just goes with one or the other
Something else that will prove interesting is the Zebra. A Zebra doesn't have an SCI score, and the only way to rate it's trophy value is purely by the quality and beauty of its hide
Heās Awsome
I'd take this but not for birds. I'd actually legitimately adore a map focused on a handful of species like impala, gazelle (Grant's as my personal choice) porcupines, warthog, hyenas, and maybe two other relatively large animals. Give me a focused big game area designed for bow hunting. That'd be a great place for archery guys and iron sight hunts
I never even thought of porcupines defiantly have to add them to lineup list!
@untold maple posted this a long while back and I keep thinking about it, I'm curious if it would be a fun hunt and how the meat would taste
Also, porcupines have an incredible pelt under the spiky bits
Imagine a porcupine great one
I WANT TO HUNT ZEBRAS!!! š¦š¦š¦
His quills are swords
One and 3 quarters!
That leopard has seen better days haha, his hide is lookinā real dry
Tbh, I found that looking for taxidermy fails
I almost couldnāt tell if it was a cheetah or a leopard at first because of how skinny it is
I could've sworn it was a cheetah at first but the head shape kinda cleared it up.
Can't figure out if it's young or a really poor mount
Did they use a cheetah form for it do you think?
That would make a lot of sense
It makes sense for why it looslks that way, not for why they'd choose to do it
The legs look weirdly . . .baggy? If that's the word
But on the other end of things⦠in theory there should be more leopard forms just based on supply and demand, no?
I would think so, and in any case wouldn't a cougar form be much easier to come by if you couldn't get a leopard?
Front left looks almost broken.
Did you notice the back legs? Is it just me or are they stubby?
Depends on where theyāre located, if theyāre outside the US (at least from the folks I talked to from Namibia and New Zealand) there arenāt really local companies that make forms and shipping from the US is expensive af ( so it theoretically would be cheaper to attempt to modify a different form)
It was from a company in Pennsylvania
Then they have zero excuse
But also
Though I suppose if the cape was stored improperly it couldāve messed with the proportions to the point where even stretching it couldnāt salvage it, worked on a African lion cape that came looking like a wiener dog and holy that was a pain to fix
Beaever?
That bear looks almost looks like a giant cartoon beaver.
Or a wombat
That should be a emote omg haha
I'm hoping these are really really old, because if I spent enough money to hunt a leopard or a hippo and this is what they did I'd absolutely end up in prison over it
I've seen a lot of things in my life, nothing like this yet hwever.
Reminiscent of Cold War era dinosaur depictions
Your opinion?
I need that in my house
100% agree but my wife would absolutely kill me, or divorce me, and neither one is preferable
..This creature died twice. š«¢
What on earth
I have others
Please we need this
I think I might change my opinion and say no cheetahs, a class 3 cat sounds awesome but idk
Wouldnāt it be class 4? Theyāre about as big as a snow leopard.
I wonāt be particularly disappointed if they arenāt added, but I would like them for a lodge aesthetic idea I have as well as the fact I know a lot of people seriously want to see Cheetahās added
I figure class 3, you also have to account for their generally lighter bone structure and build compared to a leopard
I have to agree, .22mag would likely be enough on account of their build.
A cheetah is still 3-4 times the mass of a lynx
Yeah, I'd say lynx is on par with cheetah
So is a chamois⦠and feral goat⦠and axis deer⦠and most of class 3
Yes but, predator moment
3-4x the size of other class 3 (not class 2) predators and being taller and a similar mass to a current class 4 feline is enough reason to have it there.
Taller and longer, still doesn't outweighs the SL. They literally can't fight, btw, book your hunt guides recommend renting a .243 for them apparently. Also, hunting a cheetah is cheaper than hunting a whitetail in the states. . .
When you boot the game up it has you hunt a whitetail with a .243
And you can't shoot a raccoon with a .22 rimfire but a .30-30 is fine, .270 is a no go for pronghorn antelope, and a .300 win mag is perfectly for the black death
I'll take the irl example from experts on the animal thanks
I don't understand your last point. Hunting a whitetail with a .243 is not uncommon.
My point is the game logic is flawed and you quoted it for why a cheetah should be class 4. I didn't mention the .243 being weird
The only thing I was getting that is a PH suggesting .243 doesnāt mean it isnāt class 4 material when the game initially throws you in the woods after whitetail with a .243
It also doesn't mean they have to be class 4 because the game hunds you one. The .243 covers everything between raccoon and red stag
The second half of your sentance is my point. You're the one that brought up the .243 as a reason for cheetah to be class 3, at least through implication and context.
No I didn't. I literally just said the guides recommend the .243 and the price of a hunt.
You just assumed I meant the .243 was to justify class 3
That's why I said contextually and through implication. Unless you spontaneously brought it up as a topic
I was reading it and typed "btw the guide recommends a .243" because it surprised me, I'd have thought .270 or something more normal for plains game
This is kinda old, but in 2020 there was a Leopard wandering around around The Hills and Mooikloof estate, right behind where I live here in Pretoria. I can't remember what happened to the Leopard but I think it was caught and relocated
Scary things, leopards have always freaked me out the most on the bush.
Wonāt do anything is thereās two of you but the second itās you by yourself they get way to curious.
Had a girl killed by one near us last year, slept outside of her tent because she was too warm at night. The next morning they couldnāt find her. 3 days later my mates doing a bush walk with some guests from a nearby lodge and he finds her up a tree half eaten.
Horrible
Big cats are always scary to deal with, I haven't had experience with leopards but I've been way too close to cougars lately. I downed one just a couple weeks ago right outside my barn. 160ish pound male
Thatās some Ghost and the darkness stuff right there. Absolutely terrifying
More like Rudrapryag Maneater stuff. Leopard that killed an estimated 500 people
I've found fresh leopard tracks right outside our camp when hunting. I don't like walking from one camp to another alone at night
I hear them most nights Iām there or in the picket.
Every night, but Iāve only seen one in person and that was nearly a year ago now.
Better safe than sorry!
With this big boy out and about, I'd have to agree. He literally eats the farmers big impala rams at a pace of like one a week
I should have saved it, but while searching for interesting Africa stuff I saw a picture of a leopard the dragged a giraffe calf up a tree
And Iāve heard of one leopard that managed
To take down an eland bull
For their relatively small size, the things that a Leopard can accomplish is actually freakish
Such cool but frightening animals
Much respect to them.
The only thing more scary than them are buffalo or elephants!
Buffalo, Elephant and Hippo made many a man need to change his undergarments I think
Iirc, Peter Capstick spent time as a warden in Africa and he was so freaked out by leopards he actually put together "armor" for dealing with them. I think it was thick leather coat and gloves, a football helmet and a kind of extra thick leather gaiter around his neck and carried a pump shotgun loaded with buckshot
Danger kitty
Thatās a good start
If I had the time to prep to take on a wounded leopard I'd get some of the chains mail they use for shark diving and cover it with leather.
Still probably get absolutely shredded but there's a better chance to survive
Im curious as someone whoās only seen it in the US, how does waterfowl hunting work in Africa? Like how do you keep hippos and crocs from messing with your setup and dogs if you use them?
Well I've personally never hunted waterfowl like how I've seen Americans hunt them. It's not very popular to hunt waterfowl here actually. From what I've seen though, it seems like if you do want to hunt waterfowl you need to find a place where there aren't hippos or crocs, so a small pan or marshy area maybe
This is probably the best I can give you. I'd assume this was recorded in the winter months based on the temperature, and because the water looks low so it's dry season
Iām pretty sure staying away from croc and hippo waters is just all around generally good advice
Lest you are hunting crocs!
True
Ah thank you makes sense, also makes the addition of the wigeon on Vurhonga even more baffling
Weirdest thing is that the widgeon only go as low as Kenya where as Yellow Billed ducks would just be a reskin of mallard and can be found although Southern Africa
I know itās so dumb. Wouldāve been way happier with that, also wouldnāt say no to the African black duck either but the yellow bill would not have taken much work to implement.
Grant's gazelle are just miles ahead of Thompsons. I hope we get to see them soon
https://youtu.be/Sak9hCYqkEw?si=n-yrVcmckEXPjYit
Incase you guys haven't watched a high quality hunting video from Zimbabwe lately
Ooo
This thing is so flippen cool, I love it so much
I sincerely hope we see eland in the next Africa map, I want to hunt them
yeah this chat has single handedly made me want giant eland at some point lol
so many animals i want, really hope we get at least 3 african maps not including our current one
Theyāre Awsome Iāve never seen one but would love to!
ngl a hunting lodge filled with african animals only would be sick
theyre so unique looking, as a big fan of the water and cape buffalo they really make me go šļø and would probs be beside them in terms of giant hooved animals (which im sure would be greatly expanded when we get more african maps, since we'd get zebra, giraffe, and im sure many others but yk), their neck skin flaps and general build are just very cool. very nice patterning with the stripes as well.
if we do get even larger mounts to make room for things like giraffe and elephant and hippo etc id love to see a multi mount with a bunch of the african ungulates
something called "watering hole" with a crap ton of the different animals like that and maybe a lurking croc would be amazing
There could also be gorillas if we are talking Congo
maybe, but its not really one of my top animals or ones id wanna see first i think. more so the "african hunting classics". potentially a couple maps down
Yeah thatās fair
Also a 50. BMG bolt action to hunt the big game
Another pass, thereās a hundred other cartridges Iād rather see. .50BMG isnāt a hunting round.
It can be
It really canāt.
What about 700 Nitro Express
700NE would work. Expansion is kinda important to taking down game, and unlike .50BMG⦠700NE actually expands.
Also a fair point
I could actually see 4 more maps in Africa, not including a Redesign of vurhonga which I'm hoping for
yeah thats why i say at least three, i think you could easily have 5+ african maps
my ideal is them spreading the big five across a few maps with 2 of the big five on each map, which is why my minimum is 3 since thats what itd take
Okay, let's say they do that, spread out the big five to have a map that revolves around them in particular.
Would anyone else want the last 3 maps to be double or triple size map focusing on Africa, North America, and Europe?
WR takedown .425 based on a Mauser action. The last rifle ordered by Frederick Selous before his death in WW1
I wouldnāt definitely like an Africa map like that.
Which means?
Sorry. Typo. I would love a large Africa map.
I'm thinking about how Emerald Coast blends the environments together and how cool it would be to have a 3x size map of Africa to travel around
Probably have to delete several other games to make room for it but I want it
I was thinking of something along those lines. Have there sections: lowland Savannah, upland brush forests and a wetland.
I can see that working for west Africa in particular. Go from dense jungles looking for bongo, to the savanna for lord derby eland, and then go to some deserts in search of Western greater kudu
Kind of like that map from Far Cry 2 in some ways.
A map that large could have several different types of outposts and towers. I can think of some cool ones
Honestly, it could include a trophy lodge you could travel too within the map itself. Like classic or an improved version of parque
It would be a map where a pickup truck or jeep would be handy
I have an idea for this. So generally speaking, hunting big cats on foot and even crocodile here is practically impossible, so standard practive is to shoot an animal, take it to a tree and hang it in said tree and wait in a grass blind for the animal. So my though was, what if EW implemented a pickup like the Land Cruiser 79 (which is as common as grass here) with a mechanic whereby you could load and animal you shot, say a kudu cow, into the back, take it to where you want to hang it up, and then have it hung up similarly to how a tree stand is placed. I'm not sure how a mechanic like this would really work, or if it can really work, but it'd be cool.
Alternatively maybe we can just use the rear of the LC79 to either function as storage or as limited storage but you can also transport other players or something like that
The angler?
Yeah, the rear of the jeep has a storage locker. Not like the tents where it's a whole store, just a place to access what you already have. In the African map of the angler there are pictures of a land cruiser but you can't rent it.
@joe.moer honestly I don't see how that wouldn't work since we already have the E-caller. You harvest something, choose to give up the credits to make "bait" and hang it in one of a few different types of trees and get a sort of scent lure with a timer of like 3-5 in game days. You could find a feed zone for the cat you're after, set up a blind, hang the bait and wait it out during their feed times to get a shot. Should work for lions and leopards if nothing else
I think the general game as is is fine but I could see something like this as part of a mission where your job is to shoot a bait animal and then load it to shoot a mission trophy
I think this would work great for a predator rework
Yes
Direct question, big five and 7 plains game in order of your favorites
Lord derby eland, Bongo, mountain nyala, elephant, sitatunga, black lechwe, leopard, rhino, Cape buffalo, lesser kudu, Roan(with a good beard, not just the horns), lion
Thatās my list and its order
I think for that to work it would have to be similar to how the buyable hunting structures work atm.
Set locations on the map with a chance there might be a nearby predator looking for food, like a deployable needzone.
Wouldn't it better as a decoy type? Maybe you have to buy a tree mount that works like a treestand and attach the meat to it but the meat is a 3-5 day attractant?
Okay here we go
Big five-
1 leopard (just because of how rare they are to actually see)
2 Rhinio
3 Elephants
4 lion
5 buffalo
Planes game
1 Warthog aka Mr V16 Turbo engine Mr Kasongo
2 Nyala
3 Kudu
4 Wilderbeest
5 Hippo
6 Bushbuck
7 Giraffe
How many leopards you think should be on this map?
One of my teachers went to Africa in the holiday and she saw a leopard in the tree
if they ever add africa 2.0 like that i hope they gonna make animals agressive cuz from my knoweledge hippos elephants and rhinos i think are really agressive irl
but i feel like biggest problem with adding all that is the fact that they are not legal to hunt and i dont think they could make it like tigers and snow leopards cuz of how social animals they are
irl im pretty sure its like they close ability to hunt elephants and after few years u can hunt them
soo maybe it could be like u can kill ish amount of them and then u have to wait to be able to kill them again and if u do u have to pay high fee to be able to hunt in reserve again
Theyāre not super aggressive
Rhinos are very chilled out, and only black rhinos will probably charge you.
Elephants too will rarely charge unless they find you already in their close comfort zone.
Hippos only if your between them and the water or if you get far too close
oh ok my bad nice to know
It's legal to hunt all of the big five in various parts of Africa. Granted there are various legal process that have to be adhered to depending on country and province within said country but ultimately it's legal to hunt you pachyderms like Elephant, Rhino and Hippo
bump
Good list
Tbh, aggressive hippo bulls in tall reeds would make my day. Imagine crawling in with the .470 and having it charge you
Maybe if they don't want rhinos to be hunted ingame, there could atleast still be rhinos but you can't shoot at them.
Unlike tigers and snow leopard
Rhinos, Hippos and Elephants are in fact legal to hunt in several African countries
Why? If you can't hunt them then they're just lowering the number of other animals you could hunt, kind of the whole point of the game.
Besides, it's legal to hunt all of the big five. You just have to go where there's enough and get the right permits.
^
- I never really get the idea of putting animals in the game u canāt shoot. Thatās just a lot of wasted time and effort that couldāve gone towards an animal we couldāve actually had
My thoughts too
exactly
ag wat š¤·š»āāļø
Martini Henry .303. Someone fixed up a rifle that came as a box of parts for this. I'd say they did good
Awsome
Iām so ready for this to finally get added š. Iāll probably get drafted for ww3 before they finally give us Africa 2.0
i mean this was made like 15 mounths ago soo give them some time
emerald coast took 1 year same with sundy patan
itll probably be made either this or next year maybe in 2027
Ik I saw it day oneš. my bet is next year considering after the announcement of the winter map the Canada thread only has 800 upvotes where is has doubleš. especially with the ultimate hunting game coming out this year āprobablyā
canada is coming out?
Not necessarily but a winter map was announced
oh yea winter
well i hope it wont be something like new england and will have some cool stuff like polar bears
They wouldnāt do thatš
hopefully they wont ever do that
tho apparently they did that cuz they were working on
other things
Yeah they wouldnāt do that because they are doing a map and a half a year now so that works a New England 2 would be a December map like the bird map we just got
i mean like salz park doesnt seem that bad
even tho we didnt get any new species its cheaper
smaller which means easier throphys and grinding
and great bird map since im feeling revontuli is too big for some ppl
Sorry for lack of activity Iāve had a major accident and need surgery to reconstruct the joint on my forearm
Awsome kudu pfpšŖ
Jirrrlikheid man
Hope all goes well and that the surgery and healing process goes well
Dang dude, that's a bad break. Hope you get through it easy and clear.
My goodness, hope it heals well!
Rest easy. Wish you the best!
Thanks man! I had to switch from the pike. I love pike but kudu are just a masterpiece
Dankie manš
Sorry about your hand man. Did you do that on the job?
Yikes
I wish you recover quickly, I bet that hurts
mega ow
get well soon my guy
thats rough hopefully u recover quickly and gonna be okay
Cheers guys
Hope you get well soon
Iām not anywhere near Africa but thatās actually still cool to know, thanks!
Interesting!
Ultimate hunting demo coming out soon will have Elephants and kudu
I have a feeling this game is gonna be a little off. Idk why but the animals in the trailers look like a 2d piece with a 3D picture kind of like street fighter it just looks wrong. I really hope im wrong tho
OooOoOoOooooooOOooooo
Thatās great man!
Great stuff šŖ
Congrats! Hope that means you'll have a fast recovery too
I think I know why, on their discord they've mentioned several times that the trailers don't have fully textured models. They were hoping to use the trailer and press kit to get attention and drum up interest in the game to show the investors it would sell.
They've been working on them for over a year now and haven't changed the trailer as far as I know. I think it's interesting what they're doing for the weapon system. The clips with the new devlog show it pretty well
Did you watch the whole YouTube video? They had another clip at the end of it
I did, bt ill rewatch in case I missed something
I dislike "jear" but otherwise nothing in the the dev log doesn't have anything that bothers me in particular
Idk man there is definitely something wrong with the elephant at the end of the video. I guess we will see when the demo comes out
You will if your on PC, my console monkey way of life means I don't get too
But also
Me too lol. Considering way of the hunter is weird on ps5 im scared this game wonāt run well
Doesn't run well? Haven't noticed any problems with it aside from getting boring way too quick
ššš weird textures and it isnāt a high frame rate when you go to graphics mode which made it look good
Plz bear in mind UH has a very small team putting this together & I mean skeleton small. I'm shocked they did as much as they have. As for the textures it was mentioned alot of the models werent furred yet. Flinter went over it I think 8mo ago & I believe Huxley is right the trailer was most likely a show piece to get attention. I'm not expecting it to be perfect but I am seeing a crazy amount of work put into it with features & detail ppl have been raving for in the feedback. Like CotW 8yrs ago it was far from what it is today. I believe UH will be similar or it could shock the world. Demo is est. Summer of this year for PC Only. Demo will only have Warthogs, Kudu, & Elephant to my knowledge. I'm not sure what other features will be present. So we will see. Price isn't confirmed however it was mentioned they were shooting between $15-$25 however in the current market that may or may not change. In any case for a 2 1/2 person team [2-FT/1-PT] with this amount of detail I tip my hat to them. Cant wait to see the demo on YT & the game itself on release.
Hope you get better! ā„ļø 3xšŖµ
Thank you man!
Yes thatās what Iām worried about is the small dev team. The problem is the new game with small dev team is doing something all these other hunting games shouldāve already done
CotW wasnt any better 8yrs ago & only 4 or 5 ppl made Forza Horizon 5 from Playground Studios so its not unheard of & its been done b4. Plus indie games have outperformed AAA titles often as well over the years. This is what usually happens when studios & teams arent tied down. AAA studios & Developers are held back with deadlines, restrictions, & in most cases multiple studios working on the project at the sametime and if 1 cant deliver out of 5 it gets held back or rushed. Bethesda had this Happen with Fallout New Vegas. 1 studio couldn't deliver & Bethesda had to not only redesign the whole game from scratch but also had to get it done by the deadline. For a rush job they did really well. Although I cant say the same for Starfield for obvious reasons.
My point here is regardless of the case UH has features that I would expect any new gen hunting game should have by now. If it makes you feel better Hunting Sim 3 isn't much further behind UH in a good # of features. So its becoming the new standard as it should be. CotW is 8yrs old still supporting old gen systems so its not suprising why we dont have these features now. Ew would either need to optimize CotW to new gen & expand on it or start a 3rd title with next gen hardware to have/apply/compete with new generation standards & features players want/expect. I can tell you this as CotW is now I doubt they could do Africa 2.0 justice w/o optimizing & may not come on CotW at all. They could just as easily have 2.0 on day 1 release of a new gen 3rd title with a whole lot more features & will likely be polished. UH is a new team just starting out but even so has shown it has potential. So wait till the Demo & official release if your still wary. Its success and longevity is literally the same as EW's CotW 8yrs ago.
See we have 2 different perspectives Iām thinking about it pessimistically and youāre being optimistic. It can obviously be done Iām just wary. Almost too good to be true feelingš¤·āāļø gotta wait and see
No I get that I had the same thought when I found out but I'm not going to judge a book by its cover kind of deal. I do have my doubts but by looking at it from different perspectives it allows the outcome to neither have high or low expectations & understanding why. EW has my faith on the edge atm for the future bc aside from ai, models, & terrain, I havn't seen any improvements applied to weapons, ammo, or gear aside from bug fixes. The E caller & optics thus far have really been the only things that got TLC gear wise. So Im skeptical they will ever rebalance calibers let alone add ammo to CotW. Also Elk havn't been touched. Canada: Moose [Rework/G1], EU: Red Deer [Rework/G1], Africa: Cape Buffalo [Rework -(needs revisited)], US: Elk........Nothing! Instead, Whitetail [Rework/G1] - Mule Deer - (soon) [Rework/G1 (maybe)].
What I did like is the giraffe when it spun around. Giving us a full view of it instead of a stationary perspective like the elephant
For me its the authenticity, customization, player choice freedom. Ammo is how it should be, weapons have a builder to suite your needs, clothing, shot placement has animations, proper sex with game sizes, various racks never the same model, offspring, better stat tracking, horses, proper subspecies, I could go on.
Africa has so much to offer. When will EW finally realize a second African map
(By the way, this doesnāt even show everything)
Second, third, we even need forth
Yep thatās the thing is they donāt need the big 5 to make an amazing map. I would add crocs and probably hippos but they could do some cool stuff. They need greater kudu tho! I got knob teased when jaxy said they were adding them to vurhunga a few years ago
Can I get this as a poster?
Also, how big a poster could I get my paws on?
You can, just google ungulates of Africa poster and it should be the first one you see. Itās like 12 bucks but I Donāt know the size.
2ftx3ft is pretty nice as a loading bench decoration. . .I bought one already. But asked about a larger version
Would you all dig a tru-tusk system? š
Would absolutely love it. We need it if we get elephant
that would be very cool hopefully we get that
also it would be cool if u could find random tusks
of elephants like in hirchs/layton and could show it in the lodge
like on desk or on a wall
Can we get something like this?
thats different
If you really want to see something different I recommend checking out https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1336821988718809119
But yeah, a spiral tusk like that would be really cool to see
I'd love it but I'd also love to see a system that allowed for broken tusks on elephants and hippos both
Poor dik dik !š
Reel
Absolutely though I wonāt lie if I had to choose between the two Iād rather get some sort of system for zebra stripesā¦.
Really hope we see some sort of system implemented for furs so people who are more casual can have goals of different piebalds and multiple types of those patterned animals like zebraā¦Africa with all of its animals with unique patterns would really get a boost from it
As some one from South African I love the current Africa map but there is so much potential for some incredible animal spices like the Graint Eland, Blesbok, Duiker, Baboons, Reedbuck, red hartebeest and I personally would like to see honeybagers as a class 4 animal as a kinda props to them for being such tough animals
I cannot see this thing as anything but class 1
It's so freaking small I guarantee you a .22lr would punch through it like paper
It literally would. I know a number of farmers that use .22lr on jackal, Steenbok and Duiker with success so a dik dik would definitely be no issue
That really doesn't surprise me, I use a .22lr pistol for coyotes from time to time. It'll take them down with a lung shot just as fast as any other cartridge
30-06 does the job, thatās for sure
A sledgehammer can drive a nail too
Thatās how they built the railroad
. . .have you ever seen a railroad spike? I would not call that a nail
Yeah but like an easter egg, as honey bagers are netorously know for be extremle tough, so much soo that the south african millitatry litiraly named and bomb proof viechle after it
plus the rating isn't with what you can take it down with, like you can kill a mosse with a .22lr to the brain but thats an unethical kill, keep inmind that honeu bagers littary beef with lions so often that in many areas lions fear them
I was talking about the dikdik
Oh ok yeah true the duiker is real small
still I would love to see this map tho, there are so many amazing animal in Africa
Yea for sure maby class 2and use 22-250
Sounds right
22LR should be 1-2 w/ 22H 1-3 to justify with small game across the board. If 10ga birdshot is 1-2 I think this is more than reasonable. Esp. If we get the Tiny 10.
A map with the tiny ten would be my favorite ever. I love all of them
(Not mine)
One day, itās going to happen one day
the fact we could have had it 2 years agoš
It would be a toss up between 1 or 2 but most likely 1. I believe something like a .223 is what gets used on the tiny antelope most of the time on safari but a .22 lr or wmr would work fine tbh. I was watching an episode of this is africa where a guy shot a grysbok (another tiny 10) with a .30-06. It didnāt tear it up really just kinda made a half inch hole through it, but it did launch the thing like 5 feet in the air. .22 hornet being class 1-2 would probably be a reasonable choice for making it a class 1 animal.
We all hope so
210 until 2000!
this post is gonna get to 2000 before an other post even reaches 1000š
Ja from what I understand a lot of hunters will just shoot them with their 7mm, .308 or whatever else they're hunting with because they're so small that you don't really want to track it so it's best to just shoot it dead dead where is stands and because the body is so small most bullets don't even expand enough to do major damage, although I heard FMJ's are still advisable if you're keeping the skin and shooting with a larger caliber
Yeah, my dad used to hunt them with normal .22 bullets but with really well placed shots, so pretty much any round in the game currently will kill it.
Say a .17hmr? I've had one a while now and they flatline 50 pound coyotes concerningly well
Weāre quite popular!
Randomly got to the top
Thats bc Savanna wasn't populated right. The narrative was really good, the reserve is alittle more open then I'd like it to be, but where its really lacking is Game in it. But that's my opinion, which is why I'm all for 2.0 & I want to see hyenas, badgers, & meerkats. & I hope EW adds a verity of ammo options bc I would love to hunt meerkats & prairie dogs with various calibers outside of .22 & birdshot.
This
Vurhonga could be so amazing if they just rebalanced the animal populations and added a couple of new species. Hyena and impala at least but a hartebeest of some description would be great. Just cut back on the number of ducks, rabbits, and springboks.
Does anyone else really hope that Vurhonga gets an Overhaul at least when 2.0 drops?
I wouldn't mind Savanna as much if it had more game. I mean if we have lions I should have more prey they hunt like Zebra & impala. Counter predators like Hyenas & possibly Nile crocs (theirs a warning sign for them in-game), small game wise badgers & meerkats. UH from what I've seen from the Trailer has a much better scenery & to me more of a representation of what Africa should look & feel like, thriving & alive. Not to mention various ammo options for various game for every caliber allowing players caliber choice over forced caliber class locks. To me this is huge. If EW at the very least adds 6 more species Savanna could be recovered. Along with various ammo options for every Pistol & Rifle caliber from Small Game up to Dangerous Game esp. C:1-3 small game excluding C:1 birds. If [shotguns & bows] have options so should Pistols & Rifles. Rabbits, Meerkat, Prairie dogs, Grey Fox (technically) etc. Are < 10lb game and are hunted with various calibers outside of .22 & birdshot. Please EW we've been loud & we'll only get louder.
We missed most of the non iconic big five species with Vurhonga
I didnt want to imply the big 5 since my knowledge of the represented location was uncertain. Africa is a rather large continent esp. in geography & wildlife so I didn't want to assume. & to note the reserve didn't appear to be viable to several species mentioned in the thread given the maps layout. If anything, I would've predicted more plains game provided how EW designed Savanna. The 2.0 ver. I would expect more waterways trees and vegetation more or less a recreation of the environment & terrain you'd typically see for elephants, hippos, & leopards. Ofc would also include cape & lions. ā¢Edit: I missed rhinos though I didn't know you could hunt them?!
yes you can, though its not wideky known outside the country
Good to know. Thanks for confirming bc outside of wildlife management culling if needed I didn't think you could.
There's a really nice article that I think the Save the rhinos organization themselves posted about hunting rhino in South Africa as part of rhino conservation, I'm stukkeling to find it though.
Btw nice pfp, looks alot like the SWA Security Forces shield
Itās the 8th mech inf
I play some military games too!
If you guys could all choose 2 animals for this map what would it be? If youāre gonna say big five stuff also suggest 2 non big 5 animals.
For me I think sable and greater kudu should be in the new map! I would grind for a ton of rares for both
Cheetah would be cool
That reminds me of the guy that paid $350k for a black rhino tag in Namibia
The media went nuts about it
Leopard. First choice at any time.
Impala and hartebeest, any subspecies are fine but I want those two if nothing else
Hippo (or leopard if they can do them absolute justice) and Greater Kudu.
Elephant
Lord derby Eland and Sable
Honestly struggling to name just two š excluding big five / six, I want zebra, giant eland, sable, and leopard quite a bit
Without doubt, Iāve not seen a big uptake for them on here though.
Theyāre living in the leopards shadow I think
Man do I love Africa š coolest place for animals imo. For fish itās the Amazon
Yeah I had to sit and think if I wanted leopard or cheetah more for the question and leopard just won out, not like Iād be mad with cheetah though
I feel like cheetah could be a problem because they are the fastest land animal. Would they give cheetah that fox and wolf glitchš¤£
I figure EW could figure it out to where it looks a lot more natural for their speed, if they even gave them their iconic sprint. Theyāre a lot better at animal animations and making them not jank now
If they give zebraās a fur system that lets them have a lot of fur variants even among just the bog standard one then zebra wins out for me for sure though
Here is the top
This is one of the few with the topped pinned, I wish they automatically pinned the first post in all threads
Ooh 8 SAI, the guys with the Ratels
Speaking of Ratels, what do you guys think about hunting some honey badger in CotW ?
Definitely a must have.
All 3 Badger Species: (Honey, American, & European) are a must with a multi-mount properly named "The Collective" with all 3
Yeah like a tru fur with every one being different om
Idk if they could truely have them all be unique but I figure something where they split the animal up into three parts (front, middle, back) and then design various pieces that can be interchanged to at least give them quite a bit of variety
(Insert cartoon brawl dust cloud)
That would be sweet to have them face off similar to the other 2 multi-mounts. They would defn. be a center pc in my predator lodge.
I found a snow leopard themed rifle and it's so ridiculously ornate it looks like something a Victorian king would order to shoot endangered mice with
I think I saw that, beautiful piece.
Maybe, did it happen to be a 338 Lapua?
I donāt recall a caliber being mentioned
Violently ostentatious seems like a fair description
This is extremely accurate, you could Argue that elephants and hyraxes aren't ungulates and that whales are but this is very good and makes sense for its purpose
Would love to see duiker included
Why couldn't these guys be as invasive as pigs in the US, infinitly more interesting
I'm not sure how hard Duiker truly are to stalk but I've on more than one occasion walk up to a Duiker so close that when it finally saw me it freaked out and bolted. They're pretty cool though
Because the Spanish brought over pigs instead of duikers
Columbus was an idiot
lol
But it was more than just him. The Spanish would release a small heard of pigs on an island and leave, and then by the time they would come back there would be a large population of pigs on that island.
Then all the Spanish are idiots
Yeah, they really messed up our ecosystemā¦and they chose to bring pigs over duikers
Out of all the exotics in Texas I'm surprised there's not an antelope or three going invasive
Nilgia and Axis Deer are
Over in McAllen(basically next to the border) thereās a lot of wild Nilgia
Bosbok ever exported?
Ooo whatās that
Wow thatās pretty thatās a beautiful animal. Whatās that the size of? Like a musk deer, pronghorn or whitetail? It looks very small
Thereās also a lot of subspecies which would be good for fur collars
So definitely musk deer size maybe a little bigger
.243 size anyway
Musk deer seem to be closer to Common Duiker/Steenbok size both in height and weight
Bosbok seem like southern whitetail size. Like 100 pounds size
my sister already thinks i play this game too much, couldnt imagine what she thinks if we get an extremely good africa map. will be on that all day (except for maybe EC for croc money grinding the enable the africa hunts lol)
Lol
Genuine question for all the guys who've hunted in Africa.
What's the biggest animal you've seen hunted with a .22LR? And the most common?
Just curious so no rush or anything
Iām pretty sure they use .22lr in the Faroe Islands during their whale hunts.
I havenāt hunted there but .22lr is a common caliber for Duiker from what Iāve heard.
PH that owns and runs the farm I've hunted many times on culled impala with a suppressed .22lr and did general pest control with is, so shooting vervet monkeys and occasionally a baboon
I also knew a family that would cull for meat by shooting impala with a .22lr as well. Obv all these impala shot with the .22lr were head shots and from close range and dead rests
So would you guys mind if the .22LR was reclassed to 1-2? And the .22H as 1-3?
Tbh that really isn't a surprise. Growing up we've always used a .22lr to kill 3-400 pound pigs with headshots. It's effective and cheap so its kinda just a go to
Iām surprised they didnāt do that when the new ammo type came out, they practically added it for no reason.
I would honestly suggest it
I got curious and looked this up, if this is true then I can legitimately imagine a Safari where the one rifle you carry is a .22 long rifle
I'd definitely say that size given on Google is accurate. Here's what 2 of my hunting books have to say about them, pretty much spot on what google said.
What hunting books are they and where can I buy them?
So these are my copies, they're both relatively old books.
They both available on Amazon it seems. I also found them on a South African online store but for cheaper, but I think shipping would negate that price difference
Buying those asap
Thank you very much. Will ask for them for my birthday
201 thumbs up away from the big 2k
New update causes me worry
Yeah, me too
Change of topic.
.17 HMR? If you used good bullets would it work for duiker and such? It's small, but I've personally hunted with one a lot when I was younger. It always did very well and body shots on Grey squirrels just tore them to pieces
I can see it being used on small game like vervets(but Iāve seen one take a couple a hits from a 270 so idk)
1800 upvotes as of 11:35 AM USMDT on March 24; 200 away from 2k!
I was with a neighbor today building fence and he had a slick little lever action in it. We talked a bit and i saw him nail a coyote at 150yds. Bullet kinda blew up in it's chest cavity
sounds like HMR to be
High speed is a helluva drug when it comes to small game
the boop of death
I've also seen it punch a hole in a steel T-post like a hole punch
It was a weirdly clean hole too. Shocked us all
Ive got a copy of the perfect shot, Iāll send a few pages in later
I think .17 HMR would nail Duiker if the shot placement and bullet construction are good, .17 HMR is just exceedingly rare in Africa relative to .22lr
I've actually only ever seen a spent casing of a .17 HMR that a friend picked up somewhere
I had one when I was younger but I sold it because it was too hard to find ammo for at the time
I wouldnāt trust it, my experience with 17 hmr is that itās deadly on squirrels and small fur bearers but just doesnāt hold up on coyotes very well so idk. A 22 wmr would be more effective imo. If I had to pick a rifle for the Pygmy antelope id probably go with a 22 hornet, shouldnāt rip one up as bad as a 223 but gives a bit more shock than the rimfires with better ballistics. Plus itās a classic and just plain cool cartridge.
Idk, I've seen it do some crazy stuff and tbh if it kills 50-60 pound beavers I've sure it'll handle lighter slimmer antelope as well,
Again thatās just my experience. Iāve shot a pile of groundhogs raccoons and what not but Iāve had bad luck on song dogs. Havenāt been to Africa (yet) but I assume the tiny 10 to be pretty similar to coyote, most African game tend to be a bit tougher than youād think so Iād go with the heavier bullet over the light and fast.
I'm thinking of a strong rimfire specifically for coyotes, foxes, badgers and bobcats. I'm looking at Henry's lever actions. They have a .17hmr and a .22 mag I like. I'm not sure which one to go with but I'm sure I want one that could take a coyote minimum.
Also, idk how to approach duikers and the like. They are smaller framed than any small game I have experience with
I'd probably go 22 mag just for added bullet weight for coyote
Once again I have to mention, 30-06 does great on duikers.
JUST GIMME THIS AFRICAN MAP BRO IM SO BORED š š
Aren't those pretty small? 30-06 does great on rabbits too lol
Well, when youāre targeting sable and stumble on a nice duiker that is too busy grazing to notice youā¦a 30-06 is a better choice than walking several miles back to the truck to get a smaller gun
Wym? You can't carry 4 weapons like in cotw?
Unfortunately, Iām not Arnold Schwarzenegger
These are all the things I wanna hunt badly if the map EVER comes out
* EVERYTHING
Nah but if we be real I wanna hunt Nyala, bongo, kudu, elephants, rhinos and giraffes. Those are my most wanted to hunt.
but I wanna hunt all of them
How do I get to the top of the post?
If youāre lucky, youāll just randomly get to the top, and then reply to that so other people can
Scroll up a bit and youāll find a randomly got to the top comment of mine
Alright thanks if I donāt find one could you send me to the top please? š
I give up
Here it is
YOU LEGEND THANK YOU SO MUCH
I want to hunt in Africa IN REAL LIFE. I went on bookyourhunt and saw some lovely hunting trips in Africa only costing a couple thousand. Might go with my friends in the future
I highly recommend it, the best hunting in the world is in Africa. Everyday youāre gonna see animals and youāll eat some amazing food
What would you most want to hunt?
Anything with great horns. I have a thing for them, lol
Thatās a very big bracket of animals in Africa
Nice
There is a similar poster at the museum in the town I live in, I'll have to swing by there and snap a photo later this month
I'm fairly certain .30-06 is the best average persons all rounder in Africa. With your standard hornady 220gr SPRN loads, anything from bushbuck to big Kudu bulls don't stand a chance and with a very tough bullets, even Eland are on the table.
Now in theory, a .30-06 with FMJ's has enough kick to take down elephant and it doesn't expand as much as the other hunting loads so it's a good option for your small antelope as well.
.30-06 is just the best, I personally adore it
Agree, I have a tikka 30 06. Does FMJ just punch pencil holes though?
I haven't used FMJ for hunting but from everything I've been told and read, it generally does just punch a little hole, perfect for something small but not great for something bigger like a Kudu or Wildebees
Cricket .22
𤣠M.I.B moment Noisy Cricket
The .22 MAG will deliver more consistently - ethically over the .17HMR on coyote in my opinion and less chance of damage to the pelt going in too.
The .17HMR can be fickle once it interacts with anatomy at a certain size for sure.
It travels flat and performs well on prairie dogs.
Itās funny, shoot a .17HMR at an empty 6.5 CM shell at 40-60 yards and youāll get a nice round hole..
But I donāt trust the same quality cartridge of .17HMR to meet needs for coyote size game.
Although not rimfire, I like 22-250 REM more, also flat in trajectory, nice velocity, consistent cavity shredding, and little to no chance to process it.
Hope this helps.
Wouldn't it be cool if they did like a no hunt zone, we're they'd put endeared animals like the white rhinos so you can see them an take photos, this would be like a next best thing to hunting taboo animals in game
Like ofc we all would love to hunt elaphants but similar to the thing in emerald coast
we have tigers in the game, there is 0 reason to not put them in as a shootable animal and to basically waste time developing something we cant interact with that couldve gone to actual huntable animals
There's NOTHING taboo about hunting rhinos and elephants. Heck, many countries encourage it
One hunt can bring 20 to 30k US per animal. Not including other prices or options which can put the hunt well over 100k.
Hunters going for elephant or rhino are typically going after animals past breeding age anyway so they're paying a small fortune to give an old animal a faster more painless death than it would get in the wild and the money goes straight into conserving the species.
You pay cash to take an elephant, shoot the oldest bull you can possibly find or the one causing the most problems, you provide meat to villages near the kill if they need it, money to pay for Rangers and safe land for the animals, and make them way more valuable than their tusks alone on a black market.
I wish they would do a rework on the lions. I always find them on the map alone instead of in groups. If the devs could see this message and make the lions In groups of 2-3 single males or even 7 maximum 10 with lionesses.
Bro I know that I'm from Africa but still if they don't want to add them a huntable funa then personally I would still love to see them in the game many though missions. And agian just to clarify I would love to be able to hunt elephants and rhinos but if they don't want do that I would still like to them in the game somehow.
I have to say I'd also like to see Elephant and Rhino in game but only as a huntable species. Also I can't imagine any reason EW would shy away from either Elephant or Rhino now because those are legally hunted in SA, Namib, Mozambique, Zim and Bots, where as with Tiger there's and international ban on hunting them. I think we'll get our pachyderms tbh
Also just for extra info, there was a quota for 10 black Rhino, 150 Elephant and 10 leopard issues by the department of forestry, fisheries and environment in 2022 so I can't imagine EW shying away with info like that
Can't tell if I'm horrified or impressed, someone converted a Lee Enfield to .360 Buckhammer
I am impressed but also kinda want to cry š š
I like the. 360 but idk about tearing up am Enfield for it
especially drilling and tapping the reciever on top of that to mount a scope
It seems sacreligious
If they'd kept it looking entirely factory but rechamberd it I'd have adored this rifle
agreed; reboring the barrel and doing a custom bolt to fit buckhammer while leaving everything else original wouldve been perfect
but they did not do that š
I'd love it actually, you'd be upgrading to a medium bore in a rifle known for reliability and quick shooting
Cool.
Then youād know elephants really arenāt that taboo.
Letās not humanize animals.
Hey some actions you just cant beat I know I would reuse an action if I had duplicates. Its not uncommon to purchase pair deals. Like the k98 from the 1940's if I could all my modern rifle calibers would use that action though I'd glass bed them in a boyds thumbhole stock with heavy barrels & I'm golden.
Yeah, all I'm saying if they decide not to, I would still like to see them in the game.
Overkill, yes. More common, also yes. Not too many outfitters cleave a really small bore rifle for rent and not too many traveling the dark continent are taking a really small gun with them so most get taken with standard plains game rifles. On an episode of this is africa someone took a Pygmy antelope with a 9.3x62 and what was funny to me was it didnāt even drop, the thing ran into a hole and they had to dig him out. As long you have a tougher bullet big guns tend to not tear up those little fellas too much.
It would suck to track a duiker
The Lee-Speed rifle is a hunting version of the Lee-Enfield rifle and it was popular in South Africa during the 1890s and later.
Oh please š
Also i just read that martini-henry rifles were used to hunt big game in South Africa. Plus the 577/450 ammo is quite similar to the nitro express and other elephant gun ammo
Ja the boers used the .577/450 martini henry rifles extensively before getting Mauser 1895's. They were no slouch when it came to big game hunting. Here are some original Boer .577/450 martini henry's in the Anglo-Boer war museum that I took in Bloemfontein.
Scimitar horned oryx is somewhat invasive
Coolness
Not really
I would class them more as an introduced species tbh but they are the closest (to my knowledge) to an invasive Texas bovid
necro-post but there's some non-ungulates on that picture lol
not sure what the point of it calling itself ungulates of Africa is if there's afrotherians like elephants and aardvarks included.
Better described as āPlains Game of Africaā but even thenā¦.
It also appears to have agouti listed for some odd reasonā¦.
Yeah, I just showed it because it shows a majority of African antelopes
Are you sure there is an agouti there, because the closet things I can see that might resemble the agouti are either one of the forest duikers, the hyraxes or water chevrotain
https://www.korckposters.com/product/ungulates-of-africa/ I found a poster link with a zoom feature so the text and drawings can be seen better / are actually legible since I was curious
Hope we get sables one day, the color morph of the black coat is so good
Yeah, they're duikers
Yeah, they also forgot whales which are definitely ungulates, even toed ungulates making them related to hippos, antelopes, deers and such
Your being charged at! who would you rather face off?
Cape Buffalo š , Rhino š¦, elephant š, Lion š¦, or Leopard š
cape or rhino i guess?? at least those two i can go up a tree and pray that its sturdy enough š
the elephant, the ears are forward so that's a mock charge.
Everything else is on demon time
Probably the Buff
I would lest want to face off with a charging lion or leopard, they are lighting fast
rhino or elephant if its really mock charge
and i heard rhinos have blury vision and maybe i can get on devcent tree
What if I'm a Carcharodontosaurus or a T-rex?
Nah, just a plain old safari hunter
Well, I'll choose the Cape. I'll climb up a tree and shoot it
Good to see pretty much everyone deciding tree party, weāre going back to our roots lmao
Tough choice, if they are guaranteed to charge me then probably the leopard as it weighs the least.
Elephant or Rhino... I will die with a smile on my face that I got to experience it in cotw after all these years lol
leopard. most likely to come out alive ( betting the cat with the rifle stock )
Depends entirely on how I'm armed. The rifle makes a massive difference
Double barrel bolt action in 416
Elephant.
-
A single animal
-
Large target
-
High chance it's a false charge
-
Less chance to lose sight of it in heavy brush
-
It'll be loud
-
If I can afford an elephant hunt then odds are I'd have a good guide with a heavy backup gun
About 200 more until 2000 likes, that's crazy
Zebra duiker, didn't know this little guy was a thing until a few days ago
1 extra right now
adorable
Cant we get elephants in cotw?
They are really cool
They're also a serious reason to make duiker the first class 1 antelope.
Wait until you learn about the royal antelope
Much as I genuinely love all the duiker species the one that fascinates me the most is still blue duiker and I'd absolutely love to see them in a small game reserve. With a lever action .22 serving as the reserve weapon
Blue is pretty cool
Iām partial to the yellow backed duiker myself
OK well, that one's interestingly tiny
Well it is the smallest species of antelope
I'd feel bad hunting it with anything larger than a pellet gun
Bay duiker is another interesting species, not a lot on them
Yeah, I definitely wouldnāt use my 30-06 on a royal, thatās for sure š
That would be excessive force, but for an animal that small a .22lr would be bullying
The klipspringer would be another one as well
The Klipspringer is a very interesting species
Youre not trolling anyone
Iām dead serious š§
YEEESSS
I honestly can't wait !!!!
Interesting.
Either an elaborate hoax or Bigfoot is real type of situation for our African interests š¤
I sent my email 2 days ago and received this answer during yesterday's night when I was asleep. I hope i'm not leaking anything for the person who wrote this email ! But i'm so excited by the said information : new animal class, new lodge ????
It would make sense, particularly with UH on the horizon and close at hand
UH being Ultimate Hunting, right ?
Yes but . . .when did the bear get here?!
ooh... that's just the classic dumb joke they do when it's April
. . . .I dislike bears. . . .
You will have to bear it for today, at least !
One more pun and I block you
L'le send the "Hounds of Justice" (aka "The Shield") after you
I was born in April so I've delt with crappy puns and jokes my whole life. Speaking of.
If that response you posted was an April fools joke I gonna find you and fill your entire house with rotten fish
Which response ? The "Hounds" one ?
Also I got the mail yesterday night while I was asleep, so I couldn't share the news before today
Puns. I can't stand them anymore because of family and friends.
A new class of animal has me hoping against sanity itself that it'll be hippos in a swamp type zone. UH has several things we've been begging for baked in so CotW can't wait too much longer to introduce stuff like this. I'll probably be disappointed by a lack of hippos but I can imagine they'll add a few things like that
We will have to wait and discover ! I'm personally awaiting Greater Kudu and Leopards the most !
Aswell, sorry about the puns.
Nah not a big deal, I'm just more prickly than a cactus day to day.
Anyway yeah, I can't wait to see what Africa 2.0 will have
Same !
That's a weapon in-game ?
Yeah, that's gonna be in Ultimate Hunting base game
Insane man !
It's not even the only double rifle
I'm dead š
i“ll take that information with suspicion ....
its pretty easy to fake such things and i know you planned a fool
These are what have me most excited
Usually they have an author above the date
I came with the bear idea with Vivi via modmail. The Africa 2.0 map is 100% legit (leaked perhaps, but hey... what do ya know)
still i cant take any information on this day serious (fingers crossed it is legit)
I understand the wariness, given this particular day.
But you have to agree that it does make sense for the sake of the game. I also have a very distinct fear that Jaxy was right and Africa 2.0 will be the games last map
^^^. Especially since the Angler went down recently. They have the get the big bucks soon, and Africa 2.0 is the right choice. Furthermore, as Huxley Hound said with UH going towards that class 10+ animals, it's the time to go forward
i dont hope its the last map (i read the message and got low key hyped )
If anything let Africa 5.0be the last map. There's still so much potential for cotw and it can do amazing things
anouncement towards the end of the year.. if this is true we may get a second winter preview with a sneak peek for the summer(africa map) like we got on the last
Maybe a "Summer preview" show ???
I'm hoping the new gear includes several action types for the rifles, tired of semi-auto
You know this email is a pure fabrication of mine, right ?
you gonna be the next wolf mounted in my lodge (in the lodge of every member on the server)
Block this a**hole
And ban him form multiplayer
That was utterly satisfying
@m0derator ban this wolf(or give it a live long timeout)
fools are supossed to be funny ....
I thought it was... and that you were going with it. You even said yourself don't be fooled
@flint snow can you put this wolf in a kennel for a month or so?
still some arent know of the fact you planned a prank
Sir, I did nothing wrong. I am only not domesticated. Don't bring the PAW-Lice
the rangers are gonna take care of you
I'm friends with them, that's the sad part
Alpha is a furry confirmed
I know. I fooled him today on this matter
He's a wolf he's either furry or not, and if he's not furry he's got the mange and we gotta put him down to protect the other wolves!
Mange was introduced by humans in our habitats, that's not our fault
Yet as humans it's our responsibility to clean up our messes
Whats happening
you'lle never catch me !
Wolf pulled the best joke of times
Randomly got to the top
You can't outrun an '06 fuzzface
seems like the other dude/s got on the hook
there's no roads where I live, my paws paws hurt on asphalt
Skill issue fr
They didn't at first, but then they dropped their guards down.
rookie mistake
imagine not being able to float in the air like me
Also why tf does everybody have bear emojis
this happened @green nymph (joke started here)
that's the april fools of the community managers
Tbh I'm bored af sitting in the doctors office and thus is just entertaining enough to keep me awake
Very funny (i dont understand the joke)
thats a better fool then you did playingh with emotions isint funny
the concept of an april fool is to make believe someone something special is going on. It definitely worked
Why are you at the doctor?
look in #š¢ļø“server-news (I meant to tag happie)
Tore 2 muscles in my left shoulder. Trying to see if it can be fixed or if I'm sol
I dont even like the musicš
April 31 is not a real day
As of right now, my doc said I'd never shoot a bow again
Sorry for your loss
I now have extreme trust issues
i dont trust anyone anymore
When I was in high school, I put made a paper fish and stuck it on the back of a professor
Only thing is that he saw me and convoked me into his office and said I was being inappropriate and he gave me a detention.
Not only after 30 minutes of talking, did he tell me it was an April Fools Joke !
My parents found it extremely funny and I did not
thats the same case happing here
but i have to say the idea of your joke wasnt that bad
I came to laugh about that april joke of my teacher later on, but I was so worried that day and I was still confused later that day when I told my parents.
Eh, just get a prosthetic arm with robotics & features you'll be fine 𤣠but I feel your pain. I just recovered from my injuries 2yrs ago although I still get old complaints here & there in my blade. Took alot of therapy to get my strength back.
I'm getting a second opinion on my shoulder and hoping this doc will give me some different news. The first guy said my shoulder was so messed up that I can't use a crank draw crossbow either. This visit is with a specialist I'm hoping can give me some better news
Hoping for the best š
Not sure I believe you š¤
I mean, I won't wish you to not be able to hunt
The world wont collapse either way if you believe or not, if you dont good for you
Wait was this a joke then? lol
yes
Oh š
Just make sure you dont say it to anyone. It is private...
imagine the devs had this plan and then saw your message š
Someoneās getting fired lol
Imagine š
If i was new here, i wouldnt have done it by fear of being banned š
i wanted to edit the rules and show you the screen shot but i couldnt find to the rules channel š
#šļø“rules there ya go
LMAO
Welp, my shoulder is too messed up. Never gonna be able to bow hunt again. Doc said I can't stress the muscle anymore and even a crank operated draw would require too much repetitive motion.
Guess I'm just hunting with rifles and smoke poles for the rest of my life
Ah yes, the ancient Surstromming threat
damn
I ain't that cruel, dang dude
my question is can an entire house's volume of surstromming even be found in America?
My wife's family is from Finland, I can get plenty if needed
nice
Surstromming Sources lol
I'm having a feud with a neighbor and you've given me this diabolical idea
Pop a can of surstromming and tuck it into their AC vent
Good Lord lmao
Deliciously petty and I love it
-# do it
I'll order some when I get home lol.
Please donāt, if you give me food, I might become a pet dog like in Minecraft š¶
Leopard, might get lucky with a smaller leopard around 25 kgs, really depends where i am tho
elephant I just need to find some rocky terrain and I'm mostly safe + bluffs are likely
For me it's the rhino. They can't see well
They can hear you though, especially if you're in heavy brush
I'm a wolf, I can run faster than the rhino, except if i'm kenneled
If you're really a wolf you won't be near the rhino to start with
I want an American Texas map with whitetail, black bears, mule dear, bighorn sheep, geese and pronghorns
also a north us map with the same lineup, and also a Alabama map with the same lineup, and also a Montana map with the same lineup, and also a Kentucky map with the same lineup + raccoons, also a Nebraska map with the same lineup, also a Idaho map with the same lineup, also but this might be a bit of a big ask a map with the same lineup but set in Arizona.
Last few things Iād add would also be having this species lineup on a Oregon map, and also a Canadian map with the exact same unique species lineup.
Also add squirrels.
Also can we see better North American map representation please, 7 numbers is less than 8 reserves and that would make it an even number which I think the community would find really cool. Along with that can we also add squirrels to a map set in my home state of Georgia.
Another suggestion āGeorgia hunting paradiseā
Can we have the exact same species lineup + squirrels mentioned above- but also with Wilderbeest, warthog, lions, buffalo, zebra, rhino (Black, white and woolly) elephants (not mammoths thatās too far) and sabre too tigers please as these are commonly found in Texas game ranches, Texas exotics are also found in Georgia which is my state and would offer a āvaried, comprehensive and unqiue hunting experience for playersā
- presents a varity of poor quality stock images and pictures of random fields in Georgia*
Can we also add squirrel trapping?
Was the New York suggestion to much for you? I feel like youāve hit the breaking point now
bro has McF@&%ing had it lmao
I counted at least 5 more Elk maps to hunt. I like the way you think šš
šŖ
Brother im on pain meds and it took ten minutes to realize you weren't serious, I'm losing it out here
Join the club!
April first is a fever dream of a day
Kudu would be cool
It just occurred to me that we all have a bear emoji in our names
Grizzly Bear G1 coming next!
I think so
Probably an April fools thing, this bear
How's that arm by the way? You healing okay?
well yes. Tell me the last time you saw something on April 31
hopefully with a remodel cause dear god their faces are wonk
At least it will heal, doc told me I lost 30%of the strength in my shoulder and it's not coming back. You'll get through it and be back in the field in just a few months
Damn, that sounds like a massive tear/tendon damage
Yeah. . .don't carry 40ft of angle iron on your shoulder. . .doesn't end well
mega ow
Physical pain aside, I met someone I went to school with randomly at the doctor's office.
We were chatting and he says "I'm surprised you don't remember me, you sent me to the hospital and I've had to wear dentures since I was 14."
Yeah so that was fun
This is a highly rural conversation I can't lie
is badly injured moving heavy thing
goes to hospital
while in waiting room randomly meets old classmate who you don't remember
fight lore
We did live in a town of 1200 in the middle of Tennessee, didn't really have much to do
certified small town teenage shenanigans
Fake walking dead in the streets
Still have no idea why we fought, neither of us. Dunno if I'd have believed him if he didn't show me his dentures
Anyhow,
I've been obsessively reading everything I can get my hands on about duikers. I've even found a couple ranches in Texas with common duikers and dikdiks. I haven't seen any places with the other pygmy antelope as of yet but I'm hoping to find at least a couple
Smol antelope best antelope
I fully agree, @untold maple got me to look up royal antelope and I'm dying to see them irl
Welcome to the tiny ten fan club
I always was part of it but my thing was the blue duiker. Now I'm looking at royal antelope and thinking about how to make a taxidermy mount/rifle display combo with one
Oh, that sounds like a nice idea
I did a skull mount for my duiker, but I would definitely do something like that in the future
I've got an idea to use a running full body mount on a narrow terrain display with a rack under it for my rifle. Might try a jackrabbit display like it first to see how it looks tho
I wonder if anybody has ever turned the skullcap with horns into a massive grilling fork
That sounds heretical
Take your medicine, now
alternatively, chopsticks would also be cool
Or for non psychological issue warning reasons, a coat hook
it would be a dope pair of (comically thick) hat pins or a neat pendant too
Oh god that looks nasty, good recovery (again)
I agree, I once broke my ribs cause I tried to lift a tire...
What...how?
Idk Im very weak, I once lost an arm wrestle to an 11 old, the lifting of the tire put strain on my ribcage, they didn't break thru but they were partially broken which made breeding painful but they're wasn't really anything the doctor's could do
The april fools joke has been deleted
How you can loose an Arm Wrestling Duell against a 11 year old š š
nOoDlE ArMeD
I am very weak and I didn't use to each much but now I eat regularly and do swimming so I don't think that would still happen
your rib muscles are stronger than your actual ribs
this cant get in my head, iĀ“ve beaten every body in my class + my sports teacher š š
Yeah breeding would've been pretty painful...
I has hoping I was the only one that noticed, but I knew that was wishful thinking
Idk I didn't do it during that time but you breath a lot so probably yes, would definitely limit positions
Anywaysā¦back to
Africa
Beira, I bet yāall didnāt know this antelope existed
Weak genes, no I joke. Try and eat more yoghurts and nuts. Helps to strengthen bones
The power milk is real, I can confirm
I did (Dorcatragus megalotis)
This looks like another small antelope I'm going to obsessively read about for several days
Update: I was right
That's more of a marketing strategy from the milk industry. Best way to strengthen bones is weight bearing exercise @mighty void time to head to the gym
Wait till you learn about Klipspringer, Reedbuck, Grysbok and Gerenuk
I do swimming and Im stronger now, I hate gyms tbh
I've read about the klipspringer and grysbok but not the reedbok or gerenuk but mostly because I can't take the gerenuk seriously
Dude gets satellite TV, probably watches the weird pay per view channels too
How about Dibatag
Too goofy, gerenuk looking wannabe giraffe
š¤£
Have to admit, the beira is definitely an extremely interesting little thing
Itās so easy to hook you on a new antelope
Don't give me that, everyone has something that sticks in their brain like a tick
for me it's Dinopithecus ingens
largely because its existence bothers me
You know what? That legitimately does not surprise me
leopard-sized carnivorous baboons should never have existed
Legitimate reason for a .500 NE running explosive ammo
even beyond that it's a reason for an autocannon, the damn things lived in groups of like 30 or more
Regular baboons are bad enough, if those things existed today I'd advocate for extinction
Easy compromise for weaponry
Double barrel bolt actionā¦take out a quarter of the troop with one magazine
I really wish we had this ingame
They were like, hypercarnivorous to a new extent, 98% of their caloric intake was from meat per isotope analysis. this means they hunted more often and ate more meat proportionally for their whole diet than everything except for dedicated predatory cats (and they still hover around 94% to 96%)
Tooth marks on Homo habilis and Homo erectus as well as australopith bones also indicate that those other primates were frequent targets. Which is to say they were maneaters to an extent that only leopards usually reach.
I wouldn't even care what caliber.......ooooo! Need to propose this in Ultimate Hunting to get it available in multiple calibers š”
Would be a hell of a skull to have on the wall and a story to tell if the mega baboon still existed lmao
Edit: also blasting a gigantic maneating baboon with a double barreled bolt action just sounds gangster as hell
Why does this actually trigger memories?!
Right.
In the Shadow's of Killamanjaro
I feel like a leopard sized baboon is taxidermy worthy
ah yes the starving baboon hordes
I watched it when I was 7. . . Must have printed out a million baboon pictures that year just to shoot them with a bb gun, eventually a .22
Rhinehart has a baboon target, I might buy it for a nostalgia shoot lol
would be cool
Even though they've sorta mismarketed it cause that's a mandrill which is basically a huge mongabey monkey with gigantic teeth and some flashy face coloration
it's a fun movie but also scary just because it is based off true events where starving baboons raided a town and I believe killed and ate an infant
the people of the town of course exacted retribution by hunting down and slaughtering the entire troop to my memory
I can paint that to look more ordinary
I used to swim competitively
I must say it strengthens one like crazy
Yeah it really helps, I now have muscles that I can like make go hard idk how to explain it, but before they were always jiggly
Hurdles are just normal pebbles for him
Love your profile pronouns š¤£
When I trained to get my diving certification, I moved blocks back & forth from the deep end to the shallows daily to adjust to pressure & strength building. As part of my certification, I had to swim a mile & tread for alittle over an hour. This included rescue efforts to a fellow diver & swapping air if your tank is empty while on a dive.
I just looked š
Aah thanks
What can I say, I saw an opportunity and took it with both hands
I need this dog for lion hunting
Love the expression on the lions face,
What are you you doing? Stop it you weirdo
1 elephant, 2 rhinos, 3 buffalo, 5 lions and 9 leopards.
You get to choose two of those species to defend you, the other 3 will try to kill you what do you choose?
Elephant and buffalo.
Sit on top of the elephant and have it take out the rhinos and some of the lions. And use the buffalo as leopard/lion defense. Once their numbers are low, send two of the buffalo to take out whatās left
I use a Cape buffalo for home defense because thatās what the founding fathers intended.
Elephant are a no-brainer for sure, especially if it's a big old bull in musth
Then I'd say the Buffalo as well, they're just too mean and too good in numbers to leave out
Elephant is an absolute must have
Can buffalo be interchangeable with hippo?
Hopefully it comes with a 9.3x62 and a 7mm mauser
It's your average elephant, not a big bull, not a calf, definitely not the kind you Wanna shoot
No not really, you can trade 2 buffalo with 1 hippos tho
I think I'd still take an elephant for sure. I think I'd also need that Hippo
These are new to me
Oh, Iām about to throw a bunch of new stuff at you now
Like the white bellied duiker
Heās a cool little dude
This is a great idea, although I think giraffe should be a higher tier, at least class 9.
Livingston's Suni, this one is apparently massive. Craig Boddington took it with a CZ in .22 Hornet (.22H in game)
He also bagged a Nyala and an impressive Natal Red Duiker on the same hunt, apparently just stumbling into the duiker by chance as they recovered the Nyala
That tends to be the case with the tinyās
Youāll always stumble on them when youāre looking for something bigger. But whenever you do target them, youāll never find one
@ivory summit knows what Iām talking about
I've bagged rabbits and such that way, you never see them if you're targeting them exactly but if you're out for bigger animals then you'll see dozens. I've even shot a couple on fishing trips
Ive only ever come across them whilst looking for Impala, kudu, blue wildebees and the likes and one time when my friends and I were hunting hare with air rifle. otherwise the buggers are so elusive
Art is great here
Close to 2000!
Just need another sale to get more new people seeing this!
Hey, weird question.
My wife's friends from Scotland want to visit and they keep asking me if they'll be safe from wolves if they visit. Is there something I don't know about wolves here?
Wolves have some wildly violent lore in Europe and Asia
Basically just tell them the fact that wolves are not, in fact, murderous demons.
About two hours ago I saw a wolf slip in some mud and go rolling down a hill, got up and walked away like a drunk
Tell em, we virtually shot them all and now youāre considering lucky if you even see one
Or, Iād be more concerned with feral dogs than wolves. Go with that one
All we've got is a bunch of half grown pups that are still goofy af and these guys are asking if they need bear spray and barbwire for their windows because and I'm quoting here
"Wolves are kinda like hyenas and that's how we had to camp in Kenya when we visited "
Again, tell em we shot virtually all of them and now the government is trying to bring them back.
Theyāre overthinking it
Set up a boma for some overgrown mountain puppiesš¤£
I'm more curious why they're comparing to hyenas, also I'm kinda thinking it's an insult
They're gonna stay with us, in our house, not under a tarp in a thicket
Got a better chance of the chickens organizing a militia or the goats being there standard bleating a**hole selves
Have you got any silver bullets?
I do but I now feel called out
See where you're going with this after I thought about it.
Anyway,
What I'm thinking about now is what camps look like in different places in Africa, I can imagine some would be as basic as they come if there weren't many predators in the area but I'd love to see just how different camps could be
Lmao, that's an Africa problem 100%
It varies. In South Africa you can see some luxurious (by my standards, which apparently is pretty low) lodging.
Tanzania has pretty nice camps from what Iāve seen.
Africa has nice camps is what Iām saying
really hope they also tweak lions into actual prides as well whenever they redo lions with a new african map. maybe a few solo males still but mostly prides. watching a flinter video with him hunting Vurhonga while tiger grinding and thinking about it lol
I believe you
Tbh this is insane to me, I looked it up and this tent alone costs like 18k US$. This is an actual offering from a company called Luxury Safari Company.
If we're being totally honest I always thought the tents on Vurhonga Savanna were bougie
this is unironically larger than my house...
How's that?
slightly smaller than my house
Gonna be real with you, this is about as luxury as my camping experience has ever been (to explain, because I'm sure someone will see this and whine, it's on flat ground, soft sand instead of rocky dirt that turns into mud during a shower, there's no brush to clear, dry firewood nearby, and I can't stress this enough, YOU CAN PARK YOUR TRUCK THERE and not carry all your heavy crap 2 miles down some narrow little cow trail thru thick brush )
This? This is not camping, this is a hotel with soft walls
deadass
dats a home not a tent lmao
That's a rich kid "camping" in his back yard I refuse to believe that's legitimately in a wild area
yeah there aint no way in hell it's anywhere truly wild, that has to be private property
If I had to guess, that's a farm down the road from a reserve that somebody decided to make into a resort for rich tourists who want to "rough it" and go without glass windows for couple days
lmao, that's probably the case yeah
This? This would be luxury for me and everyone I know as far as camping goes
(You got room in there for a whole a** cot !)
Here are some blurry and probably extremely old photos of the camp where I've stayed basically evey time I've gone hunting. This PH has 2 camps on his property and this one is for the local hunters, other one is quite a bit fancier and for the international clients. I've never seen the place with grass like this in my life so I don't know how long ago these photos were taken
First photo is of the bungalows, second is the kitchen
Plot twist, itās in Cameroon
Yeah, thatās the normal South African and Namibia camp I would say
Fancy camp, breakfast come right to your door
This is the camp/lodge that I was at when i was in Africa
I thought it was really nice, but then my dad laughed when I said that
Yoh, lekker grand
Jurassic Park lookin' fancy hut
Bad at keeping the rain out though. Last day I was there, it was flooded
So the roof don't roof?
The roof didnāt roof!
It roofed for the guest quarters roof though
Fancy, and this is a hunting camp? Other than a nice rug, I'd expect to see this at a fancy desert resort here in the US
Thatās why my dad laughed when I said it was nice
Here's where I stayed when I went to visit family in Tennessee
This is how all Cape buffalo feel, but this one shows it
He wants a lion to try
the hate in them eyes bro
We often half jokingly say in South Africa that we pray for rain and when we get rain we pray that it'll go away because things start to look like this š
Lion was just confusedšš
I get that! Tennessee has the same problem, you go through sonmuch drought and heat and then a storm rolls in and just STAYS sou everything turns into soup
Found another tiny antelope. Africa's such a weird place, the largest and smallest animals of all kinds and packed with variety
Mr Kasongo recharging in the VIP suite
More like barbecue delivery the hard way
Iām more used to these tents!š¤£
Because @mighty rampart asked me to, Iām gonna show some rare leopard Fur type
First off, melanistic
Can't imagine there's a ton of camping in Africa like there is in America.
Just go with a little fire ring, a Walmart tent on a vaguely flat spot by a creek you can fish in lol
Be quite a bit more dangerous than usual
That's definitely vanilla dude. . .

Leopard print will always make me think of a Karen that will call the cops on you for walking in front of her house
But the engraving is really cool
I can sorta see it, but on the other hand if I could have one made there would be paw prints in place of the leopard print
