Been doing some thinking...it would be pretty cool if there was a mission at the end of the map's story to take down an old bull elephant that could either be badly injured, severely sick or causing trouble for a herd of fellow elephants or a tribe nearby. It could have many battle scars and a broken tusk showing how much of a fighter he was in his prime. The mission could also teach the importance of why certain countries in Africa allow Elephants to be hunted and the reasons for it, how their meat is given to several tribes and how funds from hunts help support efforts to stop poaching.

I'd love the hyopthetical class 10 species to be extremely risky and dangerous. Either you miss a shot or use improper hunting gear could lead to deadly consequences. Having animals actually pursue you would make the game more fun. The changes they made to alligator/crocodile aggression is something I'd like to see for other predators and large herbivores.

What Jaxi said today has hammered home the need to expose as many players to the idea as possible. When I’m in VCs talking about it, there’s instant excitement. Most people don’t know about the feedback channel and our suggestion.

We have to make it abundantly clear (as we are doing) that the team would be genuinely foolish to not do this. We have a good suggestion, and by keeping certain elements vague like exact location, super locked species lists etc, we keep the Africa 2 concept malleable for the developers.

Even a map with elephants alone would be popular and sell, we know that from the response we’ve had. (Not a single downvote, despite having what were initially referred to as “controversial species”)

All we have to do is continue what we are doing, 400 in over a month and imminently to be the most requested map, That’s amazing. Jaxi mentioned today that they regularly kept tabs on popular suggestions on spreadsheets. Given our rapid growth I want to ensure that we are not viewed as a “flash in the pan” that means putting in the work to spread the word.

I cannot however, do this all by myself. We are lucky enough to have a plethora of active participants here, It’s you guys who are active on here that also need to help our concept grow.
Those who share that unwavering passion for a proper Africa map.

If its not sterile they could end up being a legitimate species kinda like the cross of mule/whitetail ending up as blacktails (this was true last time I checked but scientists are annoyingly quick to change their ideas so idk if it's still true)

What class do y'all think honey badgers should be? I've seen people have different opinions on what class they should be. I feel like making them class 3 and their max level 9 would be good but what is everyone else's thoughts?

I recall watching Fred Eichler doing an African predator hunt and he used a .22-250, it took a single shot in the vitals and made a clean kill with very little damage. I think the .243 would be fine as well but the .223 is still kinda garbage

There's a lot more sand mixed into the thinner forested areas though, the dirt is really soft so tent stakes are really long in the camps (at least, this is according to Frederick Selous' journal about his time as an elephant hunter)

Near McAllen Texas there’s a guide who does public land night hunts for Nilgai. I didn’t set up the hunt so I don’t know all the details but his name is Tony.
On airboat he takes you and some of your buddies on to public land. For 2k you get him as a guide, you get to use his equipment(thermal scopes/rifles), and you can hunt as many as you want with no trophy fees. I highly recommend him

I’ve had it a lot, definitely my least favourite type of venison. Not saying it’s bad but it has a tendency to be tougher and slightly more gamey than most other deer. Its not quite as good eating as say fallow or reds. I usually turn it all into sausages myself but I’m sure a better cook than I could do wonders with it.

Well, I think it's clear that the community understands that this is a game and wants elephants, regardless of the controversial points. I don't think it is reasonable to expect a promise. Jaxy has discussed the reasons for this in just about every stream he does and I think they are fair. Game companies that make promises always get themselves into trouble with their customers. Despite this, Jaxy has mentioned, on several occasions, that he is in favour of a Big Five map/s and supports it. But at the end of the day, this is probably the biggest ask from the community and a map like this could take well over a year to build. There's a lot more to consider too. Nevertheless, with Jaxy's support, our Big Five dream has a much better chance to be realised and I think that's really all we can hope for and be grateful for, for now.
In the meantime, we can keep reminding the devs of how keen we are for this by keeping this map suggestion at the top of the feedback forum.

Companies should be paying attention to their core customer base. It's been proven time and time again that listening to people who don't use your product results in failure. Star Wars is a great example, disney listened to people who don't actually like star wars which resulted in its decline in popularity. Galaxies Edge failed because it was based on the unpopular disney Era movies and not something recognizable to most fans. Star Wars Crusier, also a massive failure as it didnt incorporate the most popular characters and aspects of the franchise.

hey I was bored so I made a random concept of what the map could look like, I combined a long river with lakes scattered across the map that consists of mountainous regions (light color) and savanna plains which are much flatter than we have in vurhonga (darker color), combined with a canyon where the river splits the mountain in half and a couple of ridges in the northeast. also marked where outposts (green icons) and lookout towers (black icons) could be. this is all just out of boredom and its kinda like what I imagine the map to be like, it could maybe be used as a base concept for the devs or something but I'm sure they'll just make a design themselves

It will probably need a lot more river, perhaps even a swampy area with the presence of Nile Crocodiles and Hippos on the map.

Wow, awesome job on the map. I love the lay out. Feels much more authentic than Vurhonga Savanna.

My one complaint though (which goes for all officially released reserves in CotW) is why so many roads? I can see from a gameplay perspective with the ATV but it feels weird crossing 3 or 4 sealed roads while hunting. Like I’m in a zoo or wildlife park.

yeah it was hard for me to map out roads too without it breaking up the savannah into pieces, so I decided to make dirt trails as a better alternative in most of the map, basic dirt trails like african villages make, not wide at all and basically marked by tire tracks in the dirt

I don’t think you went too overboard, in actual fact I think this map is pretty consistent with all prior maps EW have released, you did a good job. I just think CotW in general has too many roads. Vurhonga and your map aren’t too bad as the dirt tracks blend in much more seamlessly with the environment. I would love to see your map in-game 👍

Maybe a bridge or two to connect the northern and southern corners of the reserve and it would be perfect.

We definitely need Africa 2.0 and honestly the addition of the big 5 is something a modern hunting game needs to step up and do imo. There’s no need to shy away from these incredible species for any reason- especially seeing as all of them can be legally hunted irl- it just requires going through the right channels and having correct paperwork. Heck, my partner has been invited on multiple elephant cull hunts in Kruger park due to elephant over population. There’s literally no reason to not add these iconic and incredible species into this game. Anti hunters won’t like cotw anyway, because it’s a hunting game so the controversy that could occur could logically occur with the addition of any species, and I feel that those who do play and love the game would, by a large majority, love to see these species and more added.

Africa is such an incredible and diverse place in our world, filled with so many incredible game species, from the Tiny Ten and the Big 5, through to waterfowl and other game birds, and a huge array of plains game species. I feel that the fact we only have 1 Africa map is a massive shame, especially seeing as it’s missing some of Africa’s most iconic game like impala, zebra, black wildebeest, greater kudu etc etc etc. I could go on and on about this subject, but damn I hope we see some of this stuff soon.

As I said, I actually hope for multiple future Africa maps. When Jaxy said on stream about a 2nd Africa map potentially being the last map for cotw because they wouldn’t be able to top it, I was absolutely aghast. Africa is one of the number 1 hunting destinations on the entire planet and we have so few species from the entire continent! They could seriously make multiple new maps with entirely unique biomes and species - imo they really shouldn’t be considering just 1 more Africa map towards the end of this wonderful games life. Just imo.

I see your point but I disagree. Africa is one of the only countries that still has lots of megafauna species besides Asia and maybe a handful of others. It would be understandable that this map is dedicated the megefauna of Africa just like we have maps specifically for birds. And as mentioned in a pervious post by another user, they could always make multiple maps for Africa like they do with North America

I would love to see guinea fowl and francolin on Vurhonga. It definitely needs more bird species. Wigeons should be replaced with egyptian geese or something. I don't think I've ever seen a wigeon in South Africa. We have an incredible array of birds.
