Night hunting is weak in cotw
lots dont care to play night time too :p
They should add base game night hunting stuff imo
And more in general
But I digress
there's no milky way still, but I'm looking forward to that in the future.
theres no real fun aspect to night hunting
Except if they add thermals- night hunting hogs on hirsch and cuatro would be worth it
I’d love to see that irl maybe some day I’ll make it out to a spot.
i find myself enjoying nighttime more but yea, i think if its more managable i will look forward to hunting nighttime
in part because it doesn't look as good as it could
(just in part)
When should we expect CCs to have access to RC
yeah i understand what ya mean :p but doesnt help if majority alrdy complain if it snow or rain half day cycle or more 😁
Also night can have 400 yards visibility on a full moon, if your out in the middle of nowhere
I think the excessive fog on the headlamp is what kills night hunting in this game
they overnerf it
medved night i did. not easy i say 😅
May 27-30th
YES thats what makes it a nightmare to hunt in maps w/ a lot of fog too
medved has special issues with the headlamp, even worse on the lakes
yep
they seem to be doing everything early this year. Probably to squeeze in one extra DLC before 2023
but welp still like medved due to difficulty
and it's not in a way that would be realistic. the snowdust texture sprites are way too obvious
i personally think a level of realism should be sacrificed to ensure funfactor n shit o3o
I enjoy medved, I just don't use headlamp at all.
same XD
nighthunting w/o torch is easier
I derailed this a bit. let's go back to topic.
ohright lol
my bad
i really am excited for mmore info
shared fault :p
Missouri?
ah yes missouri acres
cant please all XD im not a fan off it too. aligators so boring but welp xd
wider perspective from one of the previous images
oooooo
sick
Apparently not boring enough for everyone to want them lmao
indeed
they look good but hunt bad
I don’t get the hype for them at all
but welp cant make everybody happy xd (i dislike the run so fast or i need to sit on a stand and wait haah)
i rater shoot raccoon 😁
same now theyre fixed lol
I like gators
i hate the lil birds moer tbh?
Coon = boring
but I do agree that their running is stupid
Gaotrs are reptiles and thus have ni stamina
well
coon is boring to yes. but the always get me with that voice lmao
Do any of you think that this map will give you a new favorite animal?
not eexactly??
i want them dead if i hear
Why I didn’t buy Mississippi, same animals just alligators added lol
i am hoping for raccoon dog!
raccoon dogs are confirmed
yep
No nnneed
What new animal? Raccoon dog lol
as in hoping they become my new fav haha
ah
mb! :)
Wish they weren’t added I like them too much
foxes are my fav animal so shootin them is PAIN
i doubt. but i have hope for the bigger picture. hunt lot diffrent diamands in 1 map :p
but i want a diamond
alligators are a very unique addition tho
I like to see them experiment with new types of species
Not unique enough for real money lol
same
I’d prefer to hunt an animal I can’t hunt irl
if the alternative is more reskins...
I am in love with the capercaillie model
i just wish double or half lung slowed them down a LOT
well the added gators so why wouldnt the add who nows hippos someday :p
I cant wait to see the models
the better attack me
That’s if we get another African map
if yes. lets say. the expiremented with gators for water animals :p
doesnt sound like the dropping support soon. who knows whats next :p
When there’s only 2 bout to be 3, you can’t satisfy everyone
germany black wood hunting when :p
Two set there but 4 with animals from there
I think it was more of getting away from NA that seemed so appealing to majority
Yeah there’s lots of places I’d prefer over North America reserves right now
it makes sense with the rework too tbh
there's still some species in NA that could make a new map, but it's enough to satisfy most casual players now
Land of a thousand lakes, perfect for it
for waterfowls
There’s many places I’d prefer than the northern hemisphere
But here we are with only 3 below the equator
dont doubt xd
Map is map at the end of the day
im more scared how i will travel the map p
Probably like any other map
i dont want to bring a tent to call quad xd
im more in free roam haha
Do that and don’t really focus to much on hunting
but yeah thats what i do now
Very rarely will I actually go to a lake when I start a map
It only takes like 10 minutes but okay
10 minutes, yeah sure
Fair
it depends on people :p
True
i usually run around and shoot
It’s to open up the map to hunt easier the atvs were added for a reason
then discover new areas
i just dont like if i need to run or fast travel due to others 10min run to other side due to cant cross Xd
I've been straying further away from need zone grinding and am getting used to walking-in-the-forest hunting
I’m sure there will be fast travel boat spots
Most likely after how annoying Mississippi was to traverse
it is
I just got a rando hacker to put tents at every one
there i did actually cared to unlock fast travel and use it -_-
other maps. i just have a walk and enjoy the vieuws and random spawns
Idk I’ll probably only be in the water system or whatever is on the new map anyway, I’ll probably have half the map undiscovered the whole time
cringe
i like walking to outposts
How most of my maps are
Like 25% I don’t bother
i dont have all unlocked too. tbh. but think most over 50%
thats by walking and go diffrent stuff
just fast travel for ammo :p
flag's not white and blue, disappointed
Just an Opinion But honestly the maps are too big
for you :p
I only find myself hunting maybe 40%-50% of any map
Like vurhonga is just completely dead on the west side of the map for most people
agreed
How long would it take to cross the entire map while prone
go try it 😁
Some goes with srp the west is just pointless in hunting
i remember frist week i played with barely skills i runned maybe 1h after 1 animal high class
west of srp is full of elk and bear
😂
Maps in COTW are Amazing!
and that was prone was forced or the runned 😁
Small*
Wrong...i got plenty of need zones there...
Only a hour? I ran after a cinnamon black bear for 4 hours bc I thought it was rare
Then hit a lucky ass shot from 300m
With 243 💀
💀
well it can be 2 or 3 too didnt timed it :p
I also full sprinted whole time bc idk how to sneak up on stuff
You mean aimed right on it lol
Tracking distance was like 17 km
all i can say. i runned so long shot 2 times. and traveled prone big distance
I think it wouldve been a diamond to bc after i killed it it was a gold
Idk how many times i shot it tho
Or what level it was
i think i got diamand puma clean shot 400 meters...
Man I’ve sunk probably days into certain maps to come up with that thought
Waterfowl might get a score rework... hmm
when i arived animal was diffrent haha
How
There scored on weight irl
i was looking 30min to be sure it wasnt my mind going nutz
then asked discord and the told bug. happens
Only map thats a pain in the ass is Mississippi and cuatro
so idk if i go shoot 400+ again
we see. well something is changing :p
I 300m neck shot a diamond jackal on accident to 💀
Zeroed for wrong distance
How I killed my first diamond
Shit into a herd of wildebeest at 400m and dropped a diamond
Still longest shot I believe
Ive killed 9 troll mountain lions
0 diamonds
Off srp
Xd
I got a gold albino before a diamond
i have this shot
i dont play this to much to farm diamonds. just enjoy the little games
my diamand was when africa map was released
I havent touched cotw in months 💀
Anything new guys?
I haven’t looked at the chat in like two hours
I’d assume nothing new
shtt :p
||yrs||
Whats the poimt of this chat?
talk about new map
to build hype
finland
aka renamed clues chat
Talking about Finland
Seems like another random chat
i deleted but was to show i got it before rework diamand and also random
seems the changed dark fur way rarer and was common 😁
At this point it’s just Us three talking
moose will we get it ? :p
Hopefully
What are you hoping for in terms of the waterfowl rework?
next we need a map set in the carpathians 🇺🇦
do fallow live in finland?
no needzones
unfortunately they said geese are getting need zones
Try 2 years
africa
nah they're fucking joking
that's gonna ruin hunting geese
i wish
🙏💯
Try two seconds bitch
it's the most unique hunting in the game but no, they want everything to be a needzone hopper
but it was confirmed
lets protest everyone
i agree
We tried and failed
against the evil needzone enforcers
this
they sometimes completely ignore us
needzones are stupid in general
to much of this community is braindead to make it happen
I hope more realistic landings/takeoffs instead of going strait up or strait down and I hope geese can land on water
agreed
I also hope that only a few brake off instead of all of them
agreed
hawaii
all they want is to massacre animals for their stupid goofy rare 1 in 5000 deer
or other animal
plus flying faster and not making such sharp turns
i dont care not diamand hunting 😂
same
like, sure it's enjoyable to get one but I just hunt casually
They tried making a map with not many lakes and yet people complained about no drink zones so they made Mississippi
which map was that
gator map
Then the NA stuff happened so now I’m just waiting to see what’s the hot topic next
Great plains map with no drinkzones would be lit 😎
Yes and I hope their wings flap faster it’s a small detail but it’ll make them much more realistic
I like how no one complains about the duck call being upside down
look how slim he is
really?
Yes
Someone said it years ago and I haven’t forgotten it since
Also in cotw you can see them from a mile away but in real life in such big ducks like mallards come in out of nowhere irl because they’re so fast
Why they’re fun
cant make everybody happy. all i know people didnt like new map also due to before fix all day rain. not easy to find small game. (bushes etc covered lot) travel on the map
Then cotw exist and you just gotta wait for them to come in at a mile an hour
So hopefully they’re s little faster now
some people want it easy :₩
why did they make the ducks so round
Only if the sensitivity wasn’t slow as a snail lol
they're pretty slim irl
Are they releasing a full trailer on the new map next Tuesday?
🤷♂️
Not confirmed but looking at previous map schedules yea probably
The entire game is built around the need zone system.
If you want something different, try Classic.
k
Yeah but I’ve killed some pretty slim ones too
ohp there it goes
i reeaalllly hope if pintails are added they are slim
It just for waterfowl we want a change
True I killed a beautiful drake pintail a while ago one of my best ducks
I had the best duck hunt of my life a few months back in 2021
We killed a total of 22 whistling ducks and 3 mottled ducks (Florida Mallards)
hmm, should i add .22 truncated cone bullet and the waterfowl rework to the map stuffs
later!
ye same i shot one earlier this year had a 6in sprig first one too
They should completely change the game mechanics
That would involve making an entirely new game.
Let’s change the game mechanics because it’s that easy
people are gonna complain that they can't hit it at 5278934 meters away
Us clasic players with .2% accuracy on our .22s and .17s

Or tweak them to be less grindy
That’s better
And you ruined it 😔
I do that a lot today
True
considering most people are in bed now I don't expect chat to explode haha
speaking of which...I'm going that way too lmao. It's late. 😅
those are rookie numbers gotta pump those down
Wgat

Anyone think we should get coon hounds, retrievers, and pointers with the new map. If we get coon hounds they should help us track bear, raccoons, raccoon dogs, and mountain lions. Retrievers should be able to pick up most birds, except turkeys. And Pointers would help track quails, pheasants, grouse and possibly capercaillie. Also make it where the pointers make the birds stay still until you get close to them
Pointer possibly a brittnay
Red bone coon hound
And a chesapeake bay retriever
I also wonder if we get a Swedish Mauser
i really am hoping for a retriever and pointer
Same, I hope they do a rarer or non commonly used retrievers or pointers like above
i feel like that’s less likely than like
a lab and a german shorthair
i think they only added bloodhounds to get the mechanics and models for hunting dogs bc bloodhounds weren’t nearly as requested
and then after those get added im assuming a beagle for rabbits or coonhounds will be next
Imagine chasing Mountain Lions with Coonhounds
Yes I agree. However I really hope if we get coonhounds they actually are able to track animals without seeing blood and they can tree lions and bears on SPR or Layton
would be very cool
well in real life hounds hunt everything from rabbits foxes mountain lions bears
so it would be interesting
But also, you can get a red Bloodhound, name him Ol' Red, and then get a female Bluetick Coonhound
I’ve never seen coonhounds chase rabbits that’s mostly beagles and fox hounds
(I assume Bluetick would be a fur option)
I see what u did there
Technically all coonhounds are around the same breed but different colors like labs
yeah i just meant hounds in general
I heard it first from Blake Shelton
So, My assumption is fair
I know that’s what I was referring to
cuz like for mountain lions and bears people use like plott hounds as well
bc they’re meaner than coonhounds
coyotes can be ran with dogs too
Ok, but coonhounds would do the same and be more versatile
and deer in some states
it would be very interesting to see if they added that entire new mechanic
yeah i agree
Imagine pit bulls and Great Danes for boar hunting
for the first hound though i would guess beagles to add more rabbit hunting
I assume we'd rather have labs than GOlden Retrievers
They have it with pumas so they could add it to dogs
labs are definitely most likely for waterfowl
most common duck dog by fat
Nah Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are better
They’re meaner and bigger
labs are more popular dogs though
Either way, a waterfowl retriever is probably next, given what the next map is about
And more rare for hunting
so i feel like they would add them
next 3 dogs will probably be
lab
some kind of upland pointer/flusher
then beagles
Yes, but classic had them so I doubt they would do it again
then larger hound
they probably will tbh
They 100% will
Labs are the most popular retrievers
I know, but Chesapeake would be cooler
And more rare since they added blood hounds for hunting which I’ve never seen used, mostly coonhounds are used
If they ever add a German Shorthair Pointer, maybe I can convince my dad to get this game
did anyone noticed that in the steam page for the new map they have a whole point for Hiking?
the screen shots look insanely cool too
I'm now sure that the map is just the back part of a huge update with the rework, the hiking and the boats
I think they're trying to give people more things to do than just hunt, since that what the last survey was about
It would be nice if Mississippi actually offered the activities alluded to
yeah, that's cool I mean it could become the biggest outdoors sim
Darts, Cornhole, axe throwing
Stuff like better POIs to explore and stuff, and hopefully they bring back collectables
but we are not going to get survival elements, the game just doesn't work with those
Shed hunting again pls
oh yeah and Side missions
Mhm
This
I just want mini games
yeah could be cool
pool in the Safari lodge
the maps are so vast and they add so much history to every fictional reserve and stuff that they leave everyone waiting for something else to do, we want to dig deeper
Who feels like they have the accurate species list?
I do like the POIs. I've learned real stuff from them
but with the scheduled releases EW cant really get that deep
Nobody does
I want snow geese and speckle belly
Look in this channel’s pinned for what we have so far
The game taught me about a cousin to tequila, and it was banned for a time in Mexico
I wish the maps were more populated away from the water
Never knew that Mexico had its own prohibition
we didn't have a prohibition
just that liquor was banned
Same
Well technically irl animals stay fairly close to water sources
Bruh what
Most animals aren’t that close to water irl. Unless you live in a desert most animals don’t spend much time near water
Moose certainly do
They are the Hippos of the pines
I mean not as much as you think
true it's way too open
I have never seen a moose IRL farther than 400 yards of water
And I've seen 5
and most herbivores get their hydration from the plants and carnivores from blood
And you have?
Yes
ive seen a cow moose about 200 away from a creek in idaho
My bar was 400
moose are semi aquatic
Exactly
basically big non-flying ducks
They hold their breath for up to a minute look for food at the botoom of ponds
I am aware lol
They do not like to stray far from water
They do all the time
their diet is like 60 percent algae
During the winter they eat mostly trees
but most other animals don't get so near to water just in the desert and Sahavana
The moose on the prairies aren’t at water as much as you think
“Respectable women getter”? Your bio says it all lol
its not common behavior for animals to go to the water everyday
also its not the point nor the place to make that a part of the discussion
Yeah. Only said anything cuz he brought it up
Anyways
I’m hoping we get some cool duck and goose species
Are there musk ox in Finland?
Yes, but not natively
On the coniferous forest part of it I mean
They are way smaller than people think
There's no lesser kudu in SOuth Africa either
So, musk ox in Finland is not a stretch
In that case it could definitely be cool
And it's a somewhat requested specie so like you said, not a stretch
Tell me you’re joking
He's not
To be Clear the part of carnivores I'm not that sure I was told so in this chat
That is definitely wrong lol
Yeah lol
They don't get all of their hydration that way, but they do a lot of it, but it also depends on the animal. Mule Deer almost do, except on dry years, but elk do not
But even mule deer have to drink
Eventually
Predators get all their water from water sources like all animals
Thanks for the correction then, I'll stop the misinformation spread
It would not do well to camp on a pond for mule deer, but it would for elk
More so cuz of wallows but yes
As for pronghorn, I've heard that's the only way to archey hunt them that isn't frustrating
Cause their eyesight is stupid good
Like, spot a coyote a mile off good\
You can, but you're condemning yourself yo hunting hell
It’s not that bad
You'll eventually get one, sure
Most archery seasons are during the rut and they are incredibly dumb during the rut. They come running at the sight of white lol
People drive and shot them from trucks trust me they could care less about you walking a thousand yards away
Driving and shooting them from trucks do be kinda lame tho
But it happens
And illegal :v
Where ther hell IS that legal?
Not for pronghorn
In America it always does lol
Nah, it’s legal in Texas
Many places
Incorrect
That’s an easy way to get a fine
Literally have seen people shoot out of there trucks in Texas for wt and pronghorn
Doesn’t mean it’s legal
That where you from?
Literal criminals
True
I have seen people driving and stopping for deer in mountain zones during hunting season. It is still illegal to hunt 325m from a road there
But it happens all the time
Really Frogman
So Texas is a No but where is it Legal then
Thats for bird hunting
And for water stuff
"Hunt animals and non migratoiry bird:
It says animals so that is all
Where does it say that you cannot kill an animal from a car or truck
That's froma road, not a vehicle
.
two different things
Most people are driving on roads
Yes, so it’s legal unless from a road which the question was can u shoot from a vehicle which u can
Literally seen people arrested from hunting in their truck
Not in Texas. Least not hunting
Private property no shit people do what they want
Not if your hunting fields or hills which the argument was started off of pronghorn hunting
I'm thinking ... in future, we can get second Nordic map in Sweden or Norway ... there is still space on the world map.
But in other states you can hunt public roads from a vehicle
Just admit your wrong and move on
How about no
Not here in CO. 50 feet from the center
.
Who tf is driving in a field looking for pronghorn
You know where we have a ton of place? in the Himalayas and north Africa if we combine those places and stuff them as full as in the USA we can fit like 10 more maps
So Lazy lol
Yeah that would be cool
I thibnk they need to redo the map menu. According to this, Parque is in the Amazon Rainforest
I really would like to see some African maps
Yeah
When it's supposed to be in the Patagonia Pampas
Parque should me lowered half a continent, I agree
I'm afraid that if they redo the map they will make more space in north America
For the record: No hunting from a truck in Finland
Sorry I mean prairie
But also, one more NA map is needed. Just one and the continent is closed: Texas Hill COuntry, game ranch
One day we'll get an Amazon map, Parque will have to be lowered then
I figured lol
You aren't even allowed to track an animal with a vehicle, so...
Nor in Mexico and we are a Lawless bunch
Yes, I want to hunt exotics like scimitar horned oryx or addras gazelle
And their maps cannot be added
Filled to the brim with GOs
.
no
That should be the LAST NA map
High fence do be dumb
10 km²
bigger
Nah I want to get a grand slam of turkey
I'm gonna make the COTW world map of 2030s in a sec lol (using new map's logo) and compare it to today's
Please never add a high fence map
Filled with GOs
True, like I want it styled like the blue bull hunt on Meat Eater
No it's not. We'll never get Markhors otherwise
so the new map is based on ruokolahti?
It’ll be better to have an actual map with the animals in their actual habitat
U can hunt them else where
because of the balancing stone
Not gonna happen with Markhors
Can’t hunt them there they are endangered or the country band hunting
The whole point for high fence is for lazy fat rich losers to not have to travel
They said they will never add such maps out of cultural respect
^
Yes but for species from the Amazon we will never get a map because all the Amazon is protected
So it wouldn’t even matter
Ergo Texas is required
Oh no, no marsh deer the one animal there
Well then we should have Mexican jungle or African jungle
Not how it works
How is hunting non endangered animals in the U.S affect cultural respect
Also the whole respect culture and laws thing is duuumb
I’m dropping tac nukes in COD and no one cares
Cause they can't add the maps of their native habitats
Texas has an actual ecosystem that could be added and not some perverse exotic ranch
You wanna know how many laws that would violate
So chamois don’t originally live in NZ neither do WT in Finland but they are added
Using a nuke would probably get me the fastest death penalty in US history
Those aren’t a political tool though
Your point?
Elephants and rhinos are
Nothing originally lived in NZ
Besides kiwi
Also that
And a fuckton of other birds
Just sheep
Yeah, whatever
Really?
You said because they aren’t in their natural habitat but those species aren’t and they were added
NZ doesn't have any native mammals besides like bats and seals
I think they should add dalls to Yukon
Well anyways the new map is going to be cool, the waterfowl rework is going to be cool but when will we get retrievers?
🇺🇸
Kiwis
i think the map is in ruokolahti since they added the stone
Let me lay it out, They cannot add maps of India, Nepal, or any "Stahn" country, for cultural respect (their idea), this bars Blue Sheep ,markhors, and other such games, but theyu are found in Texas to
sheep are introduced as well
I was gonna say
Most of New Zealand's lack of ungulates like deer was made up for by moas
kiwis are not mammals
Also U.S game ranches that allow hunting of these endangered species (which are only endangered in their natural habitat) are the reasons why they aren’t extinct
with different moa species occupying different habitats
But i digress
Digressed
Did moas evolved into kiwis?
Still praying for centeral Asia ngl
Really had to do that to him
Map would be actually fire
Most animals there are endangered
Are y'all ready
Mongolia. They have Cervus Canadensis elk
No…?
I want all the maps in the future, but I have no problems waiting
Well at least most big animals
Mongolia is the only Asian map I see getting added
No, moas and kiwis are not very closely related and existed at the same time
I just want a sheep and goat mountain map like in mongolia
What is this about
no they probably got hunted to extinction by humans and a combination of other things
I just want a map with realistic topography
either way they ded
I don't care about the topography I want cool views and nice animal models
I want mostly Middle Eastern maps for Marco Polo sheep, Blue Sheep, Markhor, and Ibex
And taliban
I here they’re rutting this time of year
I just realized that the brown bear makes this the first map in a LONG time that has an animal larger than class 6
So I know I used the new map's logo for this ... but imagine all the new maps in late 2020s with their own logos at these places.
• World Map - June 2022
• World Map - late 2020s
A map with more mountains would be nice
Lmfao
cause hunting ibex on cuatro kinda sucks
The new parque will be the Australian map
It do be not fun
Siberian Ibex in Mongoilia?
I can’t see them doing that many maps in Northern Europe
They'd be cool
Still hoping for a VDB but I think my dreams of that died
Yeah it was supposedly the big mountain map and SRP did a much better job of it and the worst part is that SRP only has one high mountain specie
They could add a Romanian map too, Alpine Ibex
SRP and Te Awaroa both have really good mountain hunting but ye you're right
and awaroa only has chamois
me when no tahr 😭
Do the Feral goats not go up there?
who kissed u 😳
They used to but not anyone
Dude got kissed at the top of the mountain 💀
That was the only reason I bought TE awaroa
You can find them pretty high up but they don't go past the snow for some reason
Some hot New Zealander 😏
Lmao
Chamois should never go below the tree line
Yeah
Yeah we were stolen tahr from TA and they mocked us with the animal logo
Same with mountain goats
If the mountain goats exclusively lived in the red
10/10
Would be SO FUN to hunt
Have all their need zones up there
@ TreeKiwi
Maybe…
They crave that mineral
Ha! Imagine a mineral zone for goats
That’s the thing they do that irl
Like "Mineral zone"
Here we have goats that live at 13k feet year round
Also there was a heavy rumor for Rancho that it was going to have Barbary sheep, imagine the mountain of Rancho with something to hunt on it and the little water hole from the mountain to be the drink zone for the sheep
CO timberline is 11,500
They don’t really go down below the tree line (yes I know they do in some ranges, but not in the kind of mountains SRP is
I’m not in CO🫠
Barbary sheep are from the Atlas Mountains of Morrocco, Algeria, and Tunisia
Also I get they had to stretch things out having antelope up to mountain goat on the same map
But still
If only Rancho had a sheep species that lived in the mountains
Oh wait…
We have a good population in northern Mexico too and they are a very popular hunting target for international hunters
Lmao
Crappy topography and aniamls in the wrong spots is my biggest gripe with the game
I wish Bighorn ranged into the mountains in Rancho
The bighorn are low mountain sheep they don't even go up in SRP
They should be higher up
Also dumb
coues deer wen 😳
They are not quite goat country
And ugly in game
But they’re pretty high up
Is that snow on the ground?! Snowing like on Yukon? 👀
Dude dude dude
That’s rocks
Although sheep do go fairly low compared to goats
It's sand, it's common in beaches and coasts
or rocks
I guess Anakin's gonna hate this map
My 2 favorite picks probably ever
Yeah I hate them
Yeah the sheep horns should not be that curled
Yeah the mouflon are perfectly fine
I was so excited when they got announced and when I saw them in the trailer I lost it
maybe they'll rework some of the other animals after waterfowl
Was SRP on the list for a redistribution
Maybe they are rn
Best sheep in game, not quite fluffy enough but they are good enough
Yeah
I guess that's why only diamonds are that much curled
Still not justified
The bighorn have the tiniest curl and they should have the widest one
Whitetail and blacktail aren't great imo but they're passable
Their racks are alright but they just look a little odd
The Ibex could go a bit crazier on length tho
The only one with the full exploited potential is the beceite
Whitetail are pretty bad
Yeah the beceite is fine
But the Gredos looks a bit small, irl they get almost as long as beceite
here in WA we can hunt ducks from a motorized boat but it has to be turned off on public
Lmao
When everyone forgets about desert bighorn 😔
i wish they were desert on rancho
~~I want jaguars in Rancho 😔 ~~
Bighorn in game are ugly as sin I ACTIVELY WANT TO FORGET THEM
Well they’re endangered so
yeah obviously they're not going to be added
but the scrubland is perfect jag habitat
Dog…. I was saying that everyone forgets they exist and want Aoudad for some reason calm down
Sorry for the screams
Yea
Mexican Jaguar
Some are still found there in small areas
Just not hunted
Not that I've heard of
Guess I didn’t see them
Some are seen in Arizona and New Mexico
tbh if m*dding was a thing, I would add jags into Mississippi and SRP as well, where they were also once found
Once
Were seen like a 100 years ago
He was talking about Jags
No like last year
there are still males that wander into the US every so often
Still seen
Jags are seen here also, it’s in the Fish and Games handbook about shooting them
At least used to be
Arizona Fish and Wildlife have confirmed multiple males entering the state over the last decade or two
😏
However don’t fish and game say there are no Easter Mountain Lions even though they are seen all the time in PA and Canada
Welp I better eat my words and go to sleep
That’s east coast F&G they’re dumb
Although only seven jags since 1996 aren't enough to be added to a map
No they have confirmed they aint Eastern mountain lions are extinct they are Western subspecies but yes mountain lions / pumas are in the east
I know this is offtopic but just a reminder that during the colonial era, there were accounts of jaguars from California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. The jaguar was as much a North American animal as it is a South American one
Ok just wondering, it’s the theory like they screwed the genetics like Florida Panther and the U.S covered it up
carolina parakeet my beloved
But still they said the subspecies Eastern Mountain lions are still extinct even though many people have seen them way farther than a normal western would travel
Eh idk about none border states I can’t find a map that puts them above mid Texas
The mountain lion that got killed in Massachusetts by getting hit by a car was a descendant of mountain lions from Black hills in South Dakota
we talking aoudad???
Outlying as in unconfirmed
These maps are referring to their range during the 1900s. This extensive post on reddit compiles various accounts from the 1700s and 1800s showing that jaguars were well established deep into the Lower 48 https://www.reddit.com/r/Jaguarland/comments/oaglrg/a_case_for_the_jaguar_as_a_native_animal_of_the/
would definitely recommend checking it out
Reddit💀
what I’m saying is that U.S fish and game screwed up genetics of Eastern making them extinct by interbreeding with westerns kinda like they did Florida Panthers
@wispy aurora fill me in whats the argument
Wut
Idk anymore
Jags and Eastern Mountain Lions
Idk I just saw tall saying stuff about em
Both exists yus
Reddit vs "I searched up 'Jaguar Range' maps on google images"
Us fish and game didn't screw up genetics it's more they started going extinct around the turn of the century because of people killing them and fight for food
Oh I made a joke that was taken serious
No jaguars are still very existent
Yes?
Reddit vs I chose websites with actual data
Nvm I read that as extinct
But the idea is they messed up the genetics of them making them extinct
Heres my estimate for the Finland-species. There's 20, so I think no wolves: Whitetail Deer, Roe Deer, Moose, Eurasian Lynx, Red Fox, Brown Bear, European Hare, Eurasian Beaver, Racoon Dog, Canada Goose, Greylag Goose, Mallard Duck, Eurasian Wigeon, European Quail, Common Pheasant, Western Capercaillie, Black Grouse, Wild Boar, Reindeer (farmed, not hunted), Gray Wolf (hunted only for protecting the farmed Reindeer, endangered)
Jaguar aren’t extinct?
lmfao
I bet you did 😎
i feel like they should make my friend aiden able to be hunted
beaver would be a cool addition
that would be interesting
I would hunt the shit out of aiden
wanna see em? i got a few model references
Beavers would behave like alligators
If they did gators beavers wouldn't be much different for them to work on
class 9 for sure with the usual rare albino mel and piebald fur type available aswell
Looks legit ngl
Holy shit that's a lot of writing and words
In that post
yeah the dude did some pretty extensive research
Okay literally read the whole thing and all that information exactly mimics my map and information
Lol
yeah I don't think the two are conflicting lol
the map you linked does acknowledge the accounts outside of Texas/Arizona/New Mexico
Those reports above the line I mentioned in the map are unverifiable and lose to interpretation
I wish we could hunt Jags because they have them in B&C club records but they can’t be increased in score
As stated here
actually outlying doesn't mean unconfirmed, it means "situated far from a center; remote."
notice how the map you linked has a seperate legend for uncertain accounts, which is different from outlying
Then my apologies
no problem man, glad we could keep things civil lol
B&C World's Record - Jaguar | Boone and Crockett Club
wow, almost 250 pounds is quite large for a Mexican jag
It would look so cool in a lodge next to a leopard if we get them
The redditor also stats “He personally believes, and that these are speculations not actual fact”
Right, the reason why the maps of historical jaguar range only show california, arizona, new mexico, and texas are because it's only from these areas that we have photographic proof of jaguars
accounts outside of these areas came from times when photography was not accessible, we're talking the 1700s
so we only have oral and written accounts to rely on
They were also limited accounts
But does it matter if they used to be there? Cuz they aren’t now
Like the natives also said they saw large men in the woods but that doesn’t men there’s giants in Appalachia
Lol
is there any news about side missions coming back?
That would be a nice addition
I suppose the reason I bring it up is imply because it's interesting to realize that jaguars were a part of the US ecosystems that we're so familiar with
Lacked those in srp and yukon
loved them on old maps ;/
Or does it?
In the ice age we had cheetahs, that’s why pronghorn evolved to be so fast
Why I study Texas ecology for fun
Misery Eco > Texas Eco
Ha we are allowed to hunt black bears
Now
this is a bit of a stretch no? Let's think about this logically. When colonists first arrived in the US, they were not aware that jaguars were even a real animal. But soon, they began to describe accounts of meeting large, spotted cats in the woods. They called these "american tygers" which they clearly differentiated from the "lion" or mountain lion. Comparing this to accounts of bigfoot seems quite fallacious. Is it really so improbable that jaguars once occupied the temperate forests of the Southeast? We know that jaguars in South America occupy similar habitat. To me, it seems much more unlikely that colonists would have simply made up tales of animals matching the exact description of jaguars in habitats that they very well could have occupied and in areas that are not too far outside of their confirmed range.
Soon
Not to mention, we have fossil evidence of jaguars in the Southeast, although from a different subspecies that died out. However, it does show these areas are very well suitable for jaguar populations
Yep! Though they weren't true cheetahs, but rather relatives of pumas that evolved cheetah-like adaptations
IDK some young cougars have spots and under dark conditions top that with no relative experience in that area you might think your looking at a Jag
Here is a newspaper report of a cat killed in Kentucky in 1820. " This animal appeared to be a true Mexican Jaguar. The body was 5 feet long and the tail 2 feet. It weighed 150 pounds before skinning. The back and sides were yellow with black spots curiously arranged in several rows, a row on the back much larger and extending over half of the tail, which was rather slender, with very long hair at the end. Chin, belly, and feet white, ears small round black outside, white inside. Whiskers stiff 6 inches long, black with the end white."
To me, it seems hard to conflate an animal of this size with a juvenile mountain lion
the difference in size is not shown here
I wouldn’t doubt somehow a cat got that far but to say there’s a population is in the air
mountain lion cubs are still quite small, whereas the cats these people describe are ones they say are much larger than mountain lions
They are around the same age
you could say the same with bobcats since they have spots, but a bobcat is still a far cry from a jaguar
However Jag and Mountain Lions are around the same size and shape
yes, certainly the accounts of jaguars in Pennsylvania and New York could well have simply been lone males wandering outside their territory, like the ones in New Mexico and Arizona today. But to me, it seems quite strange to doubt a population could exist in the Southeast. The conditions are perfect for jaguar. The wetlands of Lousiana, Kentucky, etc are very similar to those they occupy in Bolivia and Paraguay, and they were stocked with plenty of prey for them, such as whitetail, feral hog, alligator, black bear. Of course, you're correct in that we have no conclusive scientific proof that jaguars had a breeding population here, but you have to realize that these accounts are from the 1700 and 1800s, where scientific data collection is nowhere near that of today. To me, it appears that it's more likely that there was a stable population present given that the conditions could have very well supported a jaguar population and we have multiple accounts of both male and female jaguars being killed, but I suppose we could argue for hours about this.
The best animals tho I can think to add to the game would be Polar Bears, Musk Ox and Stone Sheep

Sure, I suppose a juvenile mountain lion could be confused for a juvenile jaguar. But these accounts of jaguars that are being killed are adults reaching over 5 feet in length and weighing a lot
Musk ox would be amazing
I would love a true open tundra map, though some might find it boring
I wouldn’t call 150 weighing a lot
I was saying tho that some of the accounts could be cougar
hairy fake cow
150 is not a lot, but certainly above the weight of a juvenile mountain lion
Ah I see, yes certainly possible
Also the human brain plays tricks a lot in the dark so really people might have seen a small cat with spots and said that it was huge
I suppose. I would strongly recommend reading the post I linked though, some of these accounts are from people who treed the jaguars and shot them during the day, where it would be quite hard to mistake this for a mountain lion or some other felid
Add to that most people in the 1700s and 1800s didn’t have flash lights
Most lol
I can understand that, but it seems more reasonable to say that the people were lying or trying to show off, or the jags are being misidentified as cougars or other wild cats
At least looking at todays population and range of Jaguars
I need to go to sleep bye
oh ok, take care
I wonder how they handle Capercaillie hunting, because as of now a lot of the species arent being hunted the way they are in real life
The animal behaviour is where this game is really lacking
🇩🇪🇺🇸🇷🇺🇿🇦🇦🇷🇺🇸🇪🇸🇺🇸🇳🇿🇲🇽🇺🇸🇫🇮
The modern flashlight was invented in 1898. Before that people used torches and fire.
Yeah kinda
Yes. A lot of moose
Honkonkoo
tereve
I suppose the animal setup could be sort of looking like this: mallard, European hare, fox, raccoon dog, lynx, Roe deer, Fallow deer, moose, Reindeer, Bear, white tail, wild boar, European Bison, capercaillie, black grouse, wolf, wolverine, beaver, geese.
There is no Bison in Finland and Fallow deer population is small
was they joking when they said 19 species or were they serius?
white tail deer polpulation is small too
They were serious
i think the try to stick to species that can actually be hunted in the location.
Whitetail population is huge in southern Finland
Finland is long country. Different species live in south and north
but i dont think that they would add another whitetail map
is it much red deer too?
No red deer
Like turkeys obvs
Here is list of all huntable animals in Finland https://riista.fi/en/hunting/open-seasons/
they allow artic fox hunting ?!?! 😦
Artic fox isn't hunted
Whitetail are confirmed on the steam page
ok
Capercaillie hunting is more like stalking or using dogs like Finnish Spitz or Pointers
They don't live in Finland if I recall
I'm very excited about Capercaillie and Black Grouse. Hopefully they add Finnish dog breeds also!
Think they live to Northern anyway
I expect the 19 will be taken from the list published above. Way more than 19 on that list.
and second muskox was native untill they where hunted to extincted
and third muskox is now native to norway and sweden
Barely, they live in insanely small areas
is the raccon dog native or invasive?
Invasive
Which list do you mean?
Yeah..irl
We're talking about a videogame
Developers dont really care, they always (regardless of the studio) go the easy route
i hope it will be another moose, reindeer, brown bear and wolf map
actually there are going t be several species of waterfowl bc devs said "high variety"
They seem to have a policy that keeps unhuntable species off the maps. European Bison might have been an exception.
Brown bear and moose are confirmed, wolf and reindeer are rarely hunted in Finland, but we'll ses
Euro bison is very huntable
Also new bullet confirmed. 22LR truncated cone bullet.
not in finland
You can go hunt them in Bulgaria and Poland, and I heard in Germany as well
does euro bison even live in finland???
Are they even in Finland?
not according to wikipedia
Even Classic has Pointers,so should not be too hard task to devs
Then I don't think we'll get euro bison XD
also we getting geese but probably not canada maybe greylag geese
so adding Fallow to my list, no Reindeer I think
I'm a bit surprised as well, don't see how those ended up in Finland
In Hyvinkää and near Turku has some population. Never seen one thou
Since all European Fallow population are basically introduced by the Romans and stuff
