UK is basically Hirschfelden minus the boar and bison 😕 We've got deer - fallow, roe and red natively and muntjac, Chinese water and sika imported. Red foxes, badger, rabbit, pheasant, grouse, mallard, geese. Deer is the primary target for hunters here, and wild fowl. Fox hunting is illegal unless it's for pest control. Basically a UK map would be deer and wild fowl. Personally, if the UK was ever chosen for a map, I think Scotland would be best used rather than England as thats where the red deer live and the terrain is much wilder and more open.

I compiled my thoughts yesterday and wrote them down for a YouTube vid comment. I can’t tell if the picture on Instagram validates or disproves but for anyone interested...(it’s long, I know).

The gourd when researched points quite often to a folk song titled “follow the drinking gourd”. The song was a list of instructions telling slaves in the US how to reach the Underground Railroad for freedom. Meggles also mentioned on stream the use of the gourd bottle was to carry seeds. The only mention of seeds on the wiki for Calabash Gourds is in NA again, dealing with slaves and transporting seeds transatlantic and to plantations. There are 3 soda cans surrounding the gourd, laid out perfectly like the 3 railroad bridges in Balmont (the one laying down to represent the longest and the 2 standing up to represent the smaller 2 - in the same positions as the map) - possibly also trying to connect the gourd to railroads. The songs lyrics instruct slaves to follow the tombigbee river - to the right of the Mississippi. The map Layton resembles the area of the Mississippi River, and connecting to the Ohio River. But if you look just to the right of the main river in Layton there is another body of water that resembles the placement of the Tombigbee. The gourd is placed just north of this body of water. More obscure the objective of the ugrr was to reach the Great Lakes to make it to Canada. A simple connection to Layton is simply the reference of lakes. Follow the drinking gourd would take you to the lakes. Next, one of the lyrics in the song mentions following the dead trees. I first discovered the photo from the social media posts was Fernando by recognizing those trees and linking them to the song. I followed the dead trees and at the end of the grove located the landscape in the background. I later found the exact spot the photo was taken and there just below the ridge lies the grove of dead trees. Finally. Fernando Cortez Kelton was a famous conductor of the Underground Railroad, who was so admired by his efforts that he was named a pallbearer for president Lincoln after his death.

To address the “dive a little deeper” comment- there are 2 schools of thought. People were focusing on the gourd when it was found and not the soda cans. My thought is this meant take another look - there is more to the clue than you think. Also it could mean go “underground”-this is how most people interpreted the hint anyways by immediately going to search in the caves. In this theory it’s a metaphor and not a literal translation. Although the ugrr was not actually underground it could have been a hint to connect railroad and underground. An unpopular theory but if valid means an Ohio valley map in my opinion.

I'm still leaning towards a river basin of some sort, doesn't have to be Amazon. The way the Layton Lake Mountain logo is lined w the tip of Mount Leviathan. To my recollection, it was never lined up in the original release? Like putting an emphasis on how the mountain's snow melt feeds the rivers and lakes.... the collection of water in those valleys

Well when the animals spaz like cockroaches when the lights come on, it's hard to truly feel any of the locations. I still hand it to CotW for being way better than what's come before though. Wish we could combine RDR2's budget w CotW's framework. Hunting is stupidly easy, casual in RDR2, but damn if the animals aren't animated well and don't spaz out.

What if it's spirit lake park? There appears to be one in WI with lots of waterfowl (and whitetail) as well as one in Idaho with lots of big game including whitetail. There's also a ghost lake in Alberta that seems to have a lot of hunting nearby.
