Also I can't say definitively, but the plate looks a bit like a Chinese bronze plate, trying googling them. I do tend to read into things too much though. Many cultures have bronze plates. That plate still exists elsewhere in the lodge.

Why not africa?

1. These gourds are/were used in so many places around the world. So using them as a clue for africa wouldn't make much sense.
2. Everybody is talking about africa so if it really was africa, why would they keep teasibg us with new clues?

Why a waterfowl map?

1. EW_Meggles asked: What does layton and the gourd have in common? Well they both contain water.
2. Also "DIVE a little deeper" hints towards water.
3. A while ago we had the duck survey and the duckhunting is pretty broken right now, so they could fix that.
4. We now have dogs in the game so bringing out a retriever for ducks would fit perfectly!
