shaped like a cheddar wedge

#

jokes aside tho why do they look so cool

lone forge
#

Polar bear, pearys caribou, both legal eiders, scoters, muskoxen, Arctic wolves, Arctic hare, snow goose, oldsquaw

#

That would be sweet

weak smelt
#

Yeah in game musk deer look horrible compared to irl

lone forge
weak smelt
#

Tbf they do share the same model with roe deer

long spade
#

OK so, my number one reason roe deer need a remodel to siberian roe deer

Is this

inland kite
lone forge
long spade
#

Iirc they said they have fixed the birds landing like a hundred yards away from the decoys right?

#

I hope they add a slider for how loud the flock is too

lone forge
#

Me personally Idc because I'm nearly deaf anyway und don't play any games with sound

long spade
#

We need sliders for flocks and the atv, it's just too loud

stray basalt
#

I want it to be a combination of The Yukon Territoy, NWT, and Nunavut

stray basalt
#

So we can get Dall sheep, Muskox, seals, bison, and seabirds all on one map.

lone forge
#

I personally think they should specifically focus on the high Arctic to fit it into one map and really put in all the features

lone forge
#

Not very

lone forge
#

I just believe it's just to much for ew to pull of without letting out some important features

stray basalt
#

Look at vurhonga lol

pine lily

pine lily
lone forge
brisk mauve
#

Also something that would be interesting

#

Musk ox would not be a class 9

#

There only 800lbs

#

(Lions and tigers are excluded from this list because they meant be dangerous game and the games caliber systems means they have to be a class 9 not be hunted by 270 or 6.5 which irl would end you not the animal in question)

#

Polar bears would class 9 because they can grow to be 2000lbs

weak smelt
stray basalt
#

That’s a low class 8

glossy garnet
#

360 kg is def not class 9 I think people overestimate how big they think a musk oxen actually is

stray basalt
#

But that’s a stretch

glossy garnet
#

Yeah like fur is not really bullet resistant

pine lily
glossy garnet
#

I think it’s cause musk oxen look like cattle but since you have to go really out of ur way irl to see one no one realised how much smaller they are

pine lily
#

to my knowledge nothing less than .30 cal bore is permitted

#

and hotter .30-06 loads and up are recommended

#

including .300 WM and .338 WM

#

so there's def an argument for class 7 or 8; but 9 is still sketchy

stray basalt
weak smelt
#

I thought muskox was like bison size tbf

stray basalt
#

Drum roll please

#

Class 8

pine lily
stray basalt
weak smelt
#

Muskox being made class 8 seems like the perfect time for bison to be made class 8

pine lily
#

very similar in shoulder height

#

but bison are just broader and heavier in every way

glossy garnet
#

Really there arnt many more animals that could be added to the game that would be class 9

#

Like you would have gaur elephants hippos rhinos

#

Polar bears

pine lily
#

9's options are still pretty broad tho

#

polar bear

#

walrus

glossy garnet
#

I guess seals and crocs if we get more

pine lily
#

eland

stray basalt
glossy garnet
#

I don’t see seals getting added tho

pine lily
#

both species of eland actually

weak smelt
#

Are there any more big predators like lions and tigers that they would add

glossy garnet
stray basalt
pine lily
#

there's like 14 more cows and antelope at least

stray basalt
#

People take them with .22-250 frequently

glossy garnet
#

And other large ones

#

I think ringed seals r big idk tho

stray basalt
stray basalt
weak smelt
#

Walruses could basically just be a arctic version of crocs tbh

#

Just put them on rest zones on the coast

languid wedge
#

The main reason I could see musk ox being 9 is aggression really

stray basalt
glossy garnet
# stray basalt I’d like to know your reasoning

I think it would be strange in a few ways. First in the trophy lodge I think they would look very out of place on the mounts. Second I don’t know how they could do them very well like I thought the crocs where a stretch already and they are alright but from what I understand about seal hunting is that people hunt them in boats in the ocean and we don’t have boats

languid wedge
#

Should be around banteng

glossy garnet
weak smelt
#

And muskox don't have crazy thick rib cages like buffalo that would put them in class 9

languid wedge
glossy garnet
glossy garnet
#

People don’t hunt those though

weak smelt
pine lily
glossy garnet
pine lily
#

and the German european bison herds are still to small to be hunted but we have them on Hirschfelden

weak smelt
glossy garnet
#

We need better mounts for them to look good

weak smelt
glossy garnet
#

Like some rocky beach thing

glossy garnet
languid wedge
glossy garnet
#

They are literally a sea creature

stray basalt
#

Maybe they are gearing up to add an Arctic lodge…

#

Perhaps we’ve made enough noise

weak smelt
#

Sounds like EW needs to make another lodge and give us a rework...

pine lily
weak smelt
glossy garnet
pine lily
#

the gameplay loop can exist separate of the in-game story/canon

#

like the tigers you kill to make the trail safe for that one secondary mission on Sundar

#

for gameplay you shoot them

weak smelt
pine lily
#

for story purposes and in the game's canon as described by that story

glossy garnet
pine lily
#

you just walk along the trail being loud

#

and scare them off

#

and as far as the story is concerned there's 1, maybe 2 snow leopards on all of sundar and they are about as protected as a sitting US president but gameplay lets us kill them

#

we can bring in all sorts of cool unique stuff under this standard

#

opens up for like 4 more reserves in south and central asia due to all the lowland and mountain species we can hunt due to that divorce between gameplay and story/canon

glossy garnet
#

I just want the deadliest game dlc

#

It’s a battle Royale set in a map of your choice

#

You are pitted against other hunters

#

You have to painstakingly track them down over countless kilometres and take them down

you know what reserve I really want

#

I want goddamn Mongolian Argali

#

could also have altai ibex and saiga

#

bactrian camel

#

some returning faces like tibetan fox

midnight moon
pine lily
#

hell there's a population of snow leopards in the altai

#

could be a second map for them

stray basalt
#

I wouldn’t mind not getting Bactrian Camel

pine lily
#

and there's all kinds of upland game, especially grouse and partridge that live in the region

stray basalt
#

Saiga I’d love though

glossy garnet
#

I want them to add holiday variants of animals

#

Like Rudolph’s and Easter bunnies

pine lily
#

also, Maral

#

aka Central Asiatic Elk

#

altai and gobi ibex would both be a thing

#

3rd map for grey wolves (hell maybe a remodel... please a remodel)

stray basalt
pine lily
#

add the argali to that with saiga

#

a couple of hare species and some upland birds

glossy garnet
#

Idk what the Alaskan subspecies is called

stray basalt

Northwestern

pine lily

yeah and all the greys are based off northwesterns

That’s the size of a mature deer……

shadow prism

yeah I’ll stay away from them

pine lily

and given that extraordinarily large wolves were hunted preferentially during the last century

I wouldnt be surprised if bigger existed in the past

stray basalt

Watch it again

shadow prism
#

It should NOT be up to class 6😭

stray basalt
#

Frame by frame

shadow prism
#

Ik what ur saying they shoot a wolf w it

stray basalt
#

Wolves should not be in class 6

pine lily
#

its also 3-6 instead of 2-6

#

which is odd

#

given that its like

shadow prism
pine lily
#

one of the most popular coyote and bobcat cartridges in the US

shadow prism
#

Literally no use for it then

stray basalt
#

And it’s not even the single shot

shadow prism
#

Like cmon guys have some taste

pine lily

imo, shouldve been 2-5

stray basalt
pine lily
shadow prism
shadow prism
#

Muzzleloader tho so diff

stray basalt
#

Ah yeah

#

That aughta do it

pine lily
#

vecause as far as Ive heard their centerfires are great

#

they're basically match rifles

stray basalt
#

Smallest caliber you’d take a polar bear with?

pine lily
#

since the barrels are machined, turned, bored, and finished by Bergara

stray basalt
#

Personally .30-30 or 20 slugs

shadow prism
pine lily
shadow prism
#

Their cva wolves are pretty junk imo tho both I’ve had combined because they had diff parts not worky or go boom

#

I have a Frankenstein muzzleloader now

pine lily
#

I'd prefer to take my uncle's .416 weatherby because 6,500 ft-lbs of muzzle energy is nice against the largest terrestrial predator on earth

pine lily
stray basalt
#

Polar bears are wearing 36inch thick armor now

#

And it’s angled

pine lily
#

there's no kill like overkill liam

weak smelt
pine lily
#

and if continental grizzly bears can survive .338 Win long enough to maul a man to death then a bear twice that size can do the same

#

i have no doubt the smaller/less powerful cartridges could do it

#

I just doubt they could do it before the bear starts chewing on my face

shadow prism
#

I’d take minimum my win mag

stray basalt
shadow prism
#

And 400+ yards away preferably

pine lily
#

also quick tangent back to central asia

#

I present

#

a Maral

shadow prism
#

Pwetty

pine lily
#

its literally asiatic steppe elk

#

like unironically

#

north american elk are descended from them

stray basalt
#

Unironically in their native environment

pine lily
#

cause these things were in alaska 14k years ago when the laurentide ice sheet receded

shadow prism
#

Looks like a cross of red stag and elk

pine lily
#

and then they just sorta went everywhere

stray basalt
pine lily
stray basalt
#

Every elk ever

shadow prism
pine lily
#

in fact these, other asiatic elk species, and red deer can crossbreed

#

and have done so in overlapping areas

#

its rare now cause the market hunting days badly reduced their range

#

but it does happen

shadow prism
#

I wanna shoot one

pine lily
#

same

shadow prism
#

That goes for a lottt of things tho sooo

stray basalt
pine lily
#

also

shadow prism
pine lily
#

this is why I want Argali

shadow prism
pine lily
#

and why its my IRL top bucket list hunt

shadow prism
#

He’s pretty

#

Looks like a Dall sheep

pine lily
#

the bases reach 20+ inches around, each

#

and each horn can exceed 6 feet in length

#

counting curl, of course

shadow prism
stray basalt
pine lily
#

and the rams are commonly about 4.5-5 ft at the shoulder and 480-600lbs

stray basalt
#

Commonly called “the worst way to spend your money”

pine lily
#

some exceedings large rams have approached 800lbs

pine lily
#

its the largest sheep on earth

stray basalt
#

And the hunt their are most regretful of

shadow prism
stray basalt
pine lily
stray basalt
shadow prism
#

But in sheep form

pine lily
#

adult rams are realistically only threatened by two things

#

technically three

#

a pack of very large, hungry wolves

#

an adult brown bear

#

and a dude with a rifle

shadow prism
pine lily
warm nexus
#

You forgot starvation and wolverines.

stray basalt
#

Because of the weight

pine lily
#

wolverines dont exist in Mongolia tmk

warm nexus
#

Ah, I was thinking of the ones they've got in Canada.

stray basalt
shadow prism
#

And ain’t fighting 600lbs of shelk

warm nexus
#

I've seen videos of wolverines taking on moose. It's wild.

stray basalt
#

If they aren’t already extinct

pine lily
#

plus wolverines need extremely deep snow to take on larger prey

shadow prism
warm nexus
#

Nah, they get up on the neck and go round and round like a weasel, just tearing stuff up.

pine lily
#

helps exhaust them and get better traction at sensitive or vulnerable areas

#

its why most of the caribou they take are during winter and other heavy snow seasons

#

because they dont risk getting stomped for it

#

at least not as much

#

they have been documented hunting mule deer in the summer though

#

which is impressive

shadow prism
#

Have a pillow to be stomped into instead of dirt

shadow prism
pine lily
#

another argali example

shadow prism
stray basalt
pine lily
#

they also share a postcode with this

#

the altai ibex

stray basalt
#

Zero life preservation instincts

shadow prism
#

No think

pine lily
#

and also gobi ibex

shadow prism
#

Some animals you just have to wonder how their still alive

warm nexus
#

I don't hunt IRL, but I almost harvested two deer with my car in the past month, and I also rode my horse to within about 20 feet of a pair during deer hunting season.

pine lily
#

another argument for mongolia is sand grouse

shadow prism
stray basalt
#

Altai Snowcock

pine lily
#

also other small game like marmots

shadow prism
#

I am a surgeon

pine lily
#

really we can have a few repeats from other reserves like wolves and tibetan fox then throw down a gauntlet of new stuff

shadow prism
#

I want new guns

warm nexus
#

Not going to happen, but it would be really cool if they had a way for people to add their own animals and maps as plugins.

The Greatest Pursuit Predator

The wind howled across the tundra, a shrieking, biting gust that seemed to tear at everything it touched. The hunter’s breath came in sharp bursts, his chest heaving beneath the weight of the cold. Every step felt heavier, more labored, as though the very earth was trying to swallow him whole. His eyes darted over the barren, white landscape, but there was nothing. Nothing but the endless stretch of snow, and the ever-present sense of being watched.

He had known it was coming. At first, it had just been a feeling, a tickle at the back of his mind. But then the tracks had appeared, massive and deliberate, leading him across the desolate expanse. Deep impressions in the snow, too perfect, too recent. Something dangerous.

And then he’d seen it. The looming shape zigzagging over the horizon, its silhouette cutting through the pale sky. The bear. Watching him. Waiting for the right moment.

Now, the moment had arrived.

The hunter ran harder, his legs screaming in protest. His rifle swayed at his side, almost forgotten as his mind raced to make sense of the situation. He could feel it behind him. Closer now, every step heavy and purposeful. A thud of snow, a scraping of claws against ice. The bear was toying with him. The hunter’s breath caught as he glanced over his shoulder, the distant figure of the beast looming just out of reach.

The bear didn’t move. It didn’t rush him. It simply stood, watching, its dark eyes burning with an unsettling intelligence. Its breath steamed in the air, its body radiating power. And still, it waited for the hunters final mistake.

The hunter’s mind screamed for him to act. His hands fumbled, weak from the cold pulling the bolt back in a panic, He jammed it forward, desperation flooding his senses. He could hear the bear moving, its steps slow and deliberate. Every inch it closed in felt like an eternity.

His finger tightened on the trigger.

Click.

I want 6.8 western, 25-06, 17hmr

stray basalt
shadow prism

6.8 would be 5-9, 25-06 2-6, 17 hmr 1-3

stray basalt
shadow prism
stray basalt
#

But completely avoids whitetail

shadow prism
#

Yes

#

I forget the 7mm is 4-9 so yeah I’d say 4-9 would work

stray basalt
#

And ibex

As an up and coming whitetail + ibex caliber

#

Nice one

#

Really well thought out

shadow prism
#

It competes side by side with 300 wins believe is or not🤷

#

Whitetail and ibex need to be bumped to class 5 imo

stray basalt
#

In what world

shadow prism
#

And same with fallow

#

And the 223 should be 2-5 since the 300 blackout can be 3-6

shadow prism
#

Yea I agree

pine lily
#

even though I would never in my life shoot at a mule deer with either

#

cause thats a dumb thing to do

#

but for gameplay's sake

shadow prism
#

I’d trust the 223 over the 300 blackout all day

pine lily
#

like it's feasible but its a hell of a gamble either way

#

.243 is the legal minimum in most places for a reason

shadow prism
#

Yup

#

And a 243 should legally be too small for elk

stray basalt
pine lily
shadow prism
stray basalt
#

In what world will I be catching you alive hunting cape buffalo with a 6.8 Western?

#

0

#

None

#

Not one

shadow prism
#

6.8 western is a 270 on crack and lemme explain why

warm nexus
#

You also have to consider gameplay. People who bought just the base game need to be able to hunt the Rocky Mountain Elk.

#

Without putting 60 hours of game time in to level up enough to buy a heavy gun.

shadow prism
#

So a 6.8 western shoots up to 3100-3200 fps with reloads factory it varies but around 2800-2900 while 7prc shoots around 2700 factory and around 3100 with reloads but the think is somehow and I can’t explain this it hits so damn hard and shoots flatter then my 300 win

warm nexus
#

Ah, I only used the .270 for that coyote mission, and figured it was small? Or am I thinking of something else?

shadow prism
#

My dad has a 6.8 western I have a 300 win the 6.8 shoots barely flatter but it’s flatter then my win mag while killing elk as fast if not faster then my 300 with the same shot placement

warm nexus
#

I mainly use the .243 for small deer and the 30-06 for heavy deer, and I forget my heavy gun of choice now.

warm nexus
#

Then I like the 10-ga for birds.

shadow prism
#

Now I know why the 6.8 shoots slightly flatter and it’s because he has a 1-8 twist rate compared to my 1-10 and he has a 26 inch barrel and mines 24 but what’s saying if they implemented a 6.8 or couldn’t have the advantages like that

abstract lodge

What?

stray basalt

Eucladoceros and moose aren’t even related

No i meant that its a different species and not a color morph of normal pheasant

stray basalt

And neither are Irish elk

All not the same species of what certain combinations were based on

#

What is your point?

Because G1’s are cryptids

They aren’t realistic

The G1s being unrealistic is fine to me. It's literally the point

id prefer if the G1s were kept realistic but they showed more grit on them, scars etc. i know some G1s have that but that they could focus on that more rather than turning them into an irish elk

vivid cosmos
#

none of them are realistic tho, all of them are beyond massive for the species standards

hushed topaz
#

The only "realistic" one is maybe the scarred tahr and that's still pushing it

long spade
#

G1s take a ton of time and resources, particularly from modelers and artists. Entire updates are built around implementing them and making sure they are the star of the show

#

So. . .

bleak ether
#

The unrealistic, extint or fantasy Great One animals are overshadowing the realistic Diamond animals.

long spade
#

Imagine how freaking amazing every animal in the game could look if they weren't so busy making G1s. With EW focusing most of their efforts on pleasing the people who grind for hours at a time they're missing tins of opportunities to fix bugs improve gameplay, and getting reworks to animals that seriously need it

bleak ether
long spade
#

Like how red deer have had work done five or six times but roe deer haven't been done once. Red fox are getting a retouch with this update but the coyotes still look as skinny and scrawny as foxes when they should weigh double

long spade

G1s aren't making the game interesting, for most players who will never see them they just take away from what could be a better experience and more fun

Less than 2%domestic DNA but the trait for "Irish markings" is a recessive gene that can be dormant for generations and still appear. Apparently white colors in an animals coat can hang on in bloodlines that haven't been altered in several generations

hushed topaz
long spade
#

Yeah, it's pretty much exactly that. The difference is that it's a stronger trait in the east thanks to crossbreeding between coyotes and dogs. Pretty much, domestic dog genes favor white colors and those genes strengthen the genetics of piebalds in coyotes making the white color more viable

warm nexus
#

I'm all for hunting ethically, but IMO, trapping is never ethical. Even if there is a problem animal, there are other ways. Heck, even a live trap with an alert for you to go kill it is better than that.

#

I guess one exception I would make is trapping to eat in a survival scenario.

#

But those are usually different traps, not the steel jaw ones.

bleak ether
# torn quest Yes but i talk about the realism of grinding In real life if you have 3 deers k...

I would call this a 'reset' of the habitat in this area with new random specimens, which is part of the game's mechanics, and this makes it harder to access the biggest trophies. This makes us reflect that, with grinding over and over again in the same spot in an easy and repetitive way, we are at a disadvantage in terms of the possibility of getting the big trophies. I assure you that you don't need to kill 100 black bears to get the first diamond black bear on the map. I say this because I got a diamond black bear after, at most, 5. I got it without grinding. My idea of grinding is not the herd management that I do in COTW. In COTW, you play in animal levels; if you maintain the level of an animal, you progress and big trophies will appear gradually with statistical weighting. Track information is power and it is very useful to me.
