could anyone explain what is the hotspot logic that Jaxy talked about in the stream, basically that the need zones are not primary focal point how to find animals, but how then?

I think it was more that the "hot spots" where animals gather in numbers might not be lakes, etc. In other words, they might be feeding zones or rest zones away from the water, so if you just hunt lakes, you probably need to rethink that approach.

Yeah so an example could be roos are scattered for drinking zones but come together in bigger numbers during feed time on a field making that a better hotspot than a drink zone.

Animals each have a homerange which can include multiple zones. This is why occasionally a herd will be at a different drink zone at the same time. Zones are not 100% reliable thus the de-emphasis of zone importance as oposed to homeranges. A hotspot is where multiple homeranges overlap and you get a higher density of a species in that area at a certain time. Most hotspots are near water for obvious reasons, but feed time hotspots are a thing, especially for species with no drink zones.

Im guessing they've had a lot of complaints about animals not being in their zones. So they are trying to tell everyone that animals can use multiple zones and won't always be at the same one. Basically "Dont just find ONE zone and keep coming back to it, you want to find areas with lots of zones."

so basically one should just scout around, identify multiple need zones in a given area and eventually you should determine the home ranges of the herds and also get the hotspots from there. if i get it correctly the hotsports could also shift around based on time and activity, so one hotspot for herd A+B during drinking time but another hotspot for herd A+C during the feed time, and i could also move around depending on the herd preference for the need zone in a given day

99% of the time, your animals will rotate the exact same zones every day, unless you spook them towards a different area. And every time you restart the game, they will go back to their normal rotation. Now: Homeranges are the same for everyone, every map, but zones can be anywhere within thoes Homeranges. The problem comes from people grinding for great ones and trying to set up in exactly the same locations as youtubers, your deer may be going to a different lake, the zones will be in different places for everyone. And durring population resets or if you burn a zone with hunting pressure, the animals will make a new zones within their Homerange, quite often the homerange has only one water sources so the zone will only move about 5 meters, but sometimes it will move to a whole different lake.

(I am not privy to any inside information, this is just my theory based on my own testing)

I really wanted them too. But It was a longshot. It would require a whole new model and animation rig, lots of work. They did have to do this for the roos tho. But imagine an Australian map with no roos, we'd riot. However the one thing I'm surprised we didn't get is dingos, as they could have used the wolf rig.

Just take a look at hippos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, moose, literally any large herbivore. These things are more aggressive than any predator on earth
