I would probably have quitted without the dog tbh. When I sit on a tripod and decimate a herd of ibex for example, the sheer amount of tracks makes it impossible for me to find everything I killed without the dog. Blood tracks do also disappear when too many tracks are on one spot.

not only creation of the skeletal rigs, but fleshing them out, figuring out movements that are natural, making the AI for them, figuring out how many other animals to remove from the population to give a good number of the new ones.. There is a lot of decision making to new critters - much less the decision making that comes after making them
