I'm surprised you killed it with the 243! I had the exact same thing happen. Very early on in playing, I saw a white moose at night, shot it with the 243, but didn't kill and couldn't track it. A few weeks later I learned that animals are persistent and searched for it. It was very satisfying when I finally found him. He was a gold!
