Doing a great one black bear grind at first i was getting pretty full lakes all level 7s 6s 8s and then i had a diamond about 30 kills ago am currently about 80kill in total into the grind and at the moment i’ve noticed i’ve been finding pretty empty lakes and the bears i’ve only seen 4,5,6s and there might only be 2 at best in the lakes n little to none in the rest. Just wondering if this was normal or has something gone wrong?

my first Diamond today

Was stalking a good sized buck, with all its does drinking along Balmont River. I went to switch to my rifle, and saw this big ol black ball tumbling in.

I knew right away something was up. He was twice the size of a black bear. I took out my binoculars and saw he was a legendary 9.

Completely missed the shot.

I chased the tracks for over 40 minutes, couldent find this black bear.

I took it as a lesson. finally just gave up looking.

walked back to try and complete a mission to shoot a white from 200m. Began trying to move past my dissapointment, stalking deer.

Walking along back across the lake on the small side, I looked aross the lake and saw my black bear. Like a bowling ball rolling up hill, I went after him for over an hour.

soon as I got within range. I laid down, took a deep breath in game. ( and in real life ). Took a shot at its lung as it took a small slow step forward.

ran over and saw I got a good shot on target. Tracked the bear with my blood hound, over 300m. I came across the water, tracking as best as I could. When there I found my illusive Bear, lying there waiting for me. Passing under a small bush, I gave my bloodhound a treat. Couldent believe my luck.

at one time rancho was the best place. revontuli is also mostly open areas

Can anyone give me tips on my HM strategy?

I’m grinding for a G1 mule deer on Asiky.

I’m just shooting my small bucks in my favorite zones until they are all level 3 and above

Shooting my large bucks in my least favorite zones until they are all level 2 and below.

Using the buck swap method if there is a large solo until all solos are under level 2.

Am I doing it right? Does it matter what order I do these in because I’m doing them all at the same time.

Also I’m set up on just about every lake so I can get the grind working.

I don't know if there's any exact way to know for sure but I think there's a limit to how many zones are on the map at a time

I watched a lot of videos about grinding, and some of them mentioned that if you shoot two males from different herds, don't pick up their bodies, and just re-enter the game, there's a 50% chance they'll swap places in those herds. Am I right?

The swapping animals thing you mentioned does work yes, but both respawns are randomised

Meaning if you swap a level 7 with a level 2, they might swap positions, but the size of the respawns won't depend on their spot

Meaning the level 7 can respawn as a level 4, and the level 2 can respawn as a level 8, for example

Same here, but some zones can take 10+ rotations before they get their respawns - gotta keep checking

Respawns aren't instant, they require a bit of time

Apart from that, some species like whitetail respawn consistently after you shoot a certain amount of kills per run

also with the current state of how long it can take things to respawn sometimes you'll definitely want to claim all kills so the game can get them respawned asap

if you were to just not claim anything than nothing would be able to respawn until you main menu and re-enter the map
