No, you can shoot them at a distance off the ground to get respawns. The G1 does need to be shot in air in order to keep the G1 medal though.

The way I'm doing it rn is: Set time to 17:30, run around in the common area they're found on whatever map you're on, then shoot level 6-9 male AND female. Females can be diamond but cant be great one
if the zone dissapears, uhhh, find a new one. i havent thought it through fully
if its a zone with just a female in it, i'd probably kill it to reset the zone (probably)
