“Perfect!” he grinned, pinching off a fresh cut. “Nature’s own La-Z-Boy!”

With enthusiasm, Buck wedged himself up between the two trunks, firmly seated in the notch with his boomstick across his lap, chewing and humming.

And then—whoooosh! The wind picked up.
Now, Buck hadn’t checked the forecast (he considered weather reports a forum not Bona fide). The trees, which had stood solid for decades, began to sway gently. Then a bit more. Then quite a lot.

As fate—and physics—would have it, the trunks leaned toward each other.
Buckshot, bound in like a meaty human wedge of cheese between two angry, groaning trunks, had only time to yelp, “Welp, this ain’t…” before the trees clapped together like nature’s own fly swatter.

Squirrels looked down in stunned silence. A raccoon nearby took off its hat in respect. Later, when a local search party found him (mostly by following the trail of chew and discarded cans), one of the searchers whispered, “He died doing what he loved—being real dumb in the woods.”

And so, the legend of Buckshot Baden lives on, snickered among children taught in hunting safety courses.
