Its digital actually, i spent quite some time back in artschool trying to imitate traditional painting styles, textures digitally, it was a usefull challange(i studied graphical design)! My sister is a traditional painter, she let me take some high rez pictures of her canvas and some paint, which i used in making the art feel more traditional:D Digital art, and art overall without texture to me lacks the little spark, soul which makes it fun. I kept leaves, certain details quite simple instead of over rendering it, because if i were to paint normally on canvas i'd work basically the same way. For very rendered art pieces i cannot use textures until they are finished, since it would slow my pc down as more layers are made, and simply from my textured brushes i brought or made myself!

@barren steeple If you're tracing for practice, you should try breaking down the shapes of the animal so the forms come out more clearly on the next pass, rather than something less coherent.

The shapes on the middle of the front leg aren't just random, for example. They're the same bones as our wrists-- And as such they have a distinctive shape and structure and reason they're shaped that way.

Sorry for unsolicited advice but as someone who has hunted foxes and sees them in his yard all the time in my opinion the foxes front legs should have a slight bend at the elbow facing the knee on the back leg.

Most of the time I see foxes they have a slight hunch to the front of them

But if you like it how it is then it is fine
