On the left is a tense horse-- He has very pursed lips. On the right the horse is relaxed-- very droopy. Here's another fairly tense horse below.

I think people are really cued into these subtleties even if they don't know it, and it's part of what makes a drawing convincing.

The lower lip protrudes a little and the corner of the mouth isn't quite as tight-- They're either sparring gently, or grooming to improve social bond. Maybe both. Not tense or upset.

I've posted this before, but this is the biggest thing to remember with quadrupeds. Most mammals have the same basic structure, with some variation here and there.

The bendy part on a horse's front leg, or a deer for that matter, is the equivalent to the human wrist. On the back, a heel and ankle.

I find it helpful to look at a picture (of a deer facing the observer for example) to actually get to know the different ratios, dimensions, angles of what I wish to sketch. Pull up a picture and copy it - it is so much better than trying to remember what the universe is like. When you’ve looked at enough pictures of deer, for example, you can confidently start free-sketching with little reference.

@frozen vector i also struggle with head shapes but i mainly see it as a very rounded and narrow triangle on the side for deer, i try to use the neck, eye and ears to be kinda refference points of how far i still gotta go, you can also use the ear, eye, nose to get the basic slight curve of the head

I mean the condition can be associated with negative traits: physical deformities such as shorter bowed legs, spinal deformities, fused joints, blindness, deafness, etc. but if you have a doe tag I don’t see an issue with taking a piebald if that’s what walks out. Hunting isn’t just about taking the biggest males it’s about population control/care and food.

That’s not a drawing it’s art,
Art is a subjective media format so pretty much the only thing that matters is its made, because end of the day somebody is gonna like it, and the next, you don’t know what the next person may think of it.
For what it’s worth I think your art is Quite Great.
