I know relatively how respawns work, shoot a animal, and another member of that animals species will spawn after you claim the body.

What I want to know is the more advanced details.

If I shoot a female will it always respawn female? If I shoot a male will it always respawn male?

If I shoot a silver/gold/diamond, will another animal close to its score respawn in its place, or will it be randomized too any rank?

2. No, it’s completely random. You may shoot diamond but respawn as silver so it’s random.

for some species shooting females can be helpful. Roe Deer for example, I had a lake with about 4 does, I shot all of them and about 3 bucks moved in instead. So if you have lakes with only females, then it can help to shoot them and hope things switch around a bit.

I’m not sure exactly how it works, all I know is that when you kill both males and females, they can switch places. I’ve had lakes with a single doe turn into a lake with 5+ deer, a mix of bucks and does. It’s not a thing that always happens though.

1. Leave no stone unturned. lynx drink literally everywhere, so check as many spots as you possibly can
2. Beware of lynx hiding in reeds, as well as lynx behind rocks that are not rendered in. Keep the caller handy if you need to lure them out
3. Use the ice to your advantage. You might be able to chase the lynx out onto the ice for better visibility
4. Medved is very conducive to using treestands. Use them when appropriate

I would start with the lakes you can fairly easily access via an outpost or a tent you’ve already placed down. Then work your way around the map

Is it possible to find the mocha moose again after completing the mission? I misunderstood the quest, as it was worded to take a picture and then harvest it. I took the picture but after that, the tracks disappeared. He kept calling and I followed him. Shot him twice in what I believe was the lung (couldn't tell, no tracks of blood splatter to confirm a shot) but he wouldn't go down. I'm now upset because I really wanted that trophy. Can I find him again later and take him down?

Anyone else having crashes throughout the Rancho Del Arroyo missions? Didn't start happening for me until around the point I had to search for the shrine (A Place To Rest) and then from there on. Are you going around the lakes completely? Wolves can hear you from far away and will flee before you see them. Even if you don’t see them, explore the entire lake and grab their drink zone which will still be active even if they run from it

That way you will know where they are and can use that to your advantage when approaching it

I’d suggest going around each one. Even the ones that some hotspot maps claim do not have any wolves do have them

TruRACS animals use a more realistic scoring system (when it comes to horned animals) than non TruRACS animals

So basically when the game generates a TruRACS spawn it procedurally generates the horns based on certain parameters which creates more realistic antler racks and horns and stuff, this is broken down in the kill screen if you pop into the TruScore tab

For non TruRACS animals the game generates racks based on presets in the game files, they by and large aren't procedurally generated

Which means you get less rack variety

Water buffalo have TruRACS which means theoretically they can get as big as the game wants them to be because they're procedurally generated and not being picked from pre-coded racks

Cape buffalo though don't have TruRACS (yet?) and if you hunt both kinds of buffalo you'll see the difference in rack diversity between the two, Cape buffalo have very distinct rack types whereas water buffalo don't really

personally I like both of them and think they’re both good. Miller Model 1891 has 3 shots and is the most powerful shotgun, but it is not compatible with any sights. The Strecker SxS 20G is a double barrel shotgun so it has 2 shots and the ability to be used with the ‘Boomstick’ perk, and it is compatible with the Marksman Exakt Reflex Sight. It’s up to personal preference.

There really is no “best weapon” since every weapon is rated for different classes. For instance, the starter .243 is good for class 2-6. This means you can get the maximum trophy (and by extension cash and xp) on animals in classes 2-6, but not class 1 and 7-9.

Every weapon and ammo combo has a defined class range where it will get the max trophy

If you ever plan on getting a weapon pack, one of my first recommendations is the modern rifle pack. That gives you a .22LR rifle (allowing you to take shots on class 1 animals from a much longer distance) and a .308 rifle, which is a fantastic medium game rifle (class 4-8). There’s also a .223 rifle, but it’s not that great unless you regularly hunt small things like foxes and coyotes

I was looking to buy some dlcs but noticed a lot of them were off like 75% off on Steam (only 10% off on gamepass). But I have read that you can't buy dlcs on steam for a gamepass game. So I was looking into buying the game again on steam (it's 75% off on steam) so I can save money buying the usually pretty expensive dlcs on steam. Here’s a good general-purpose loadout. Pick one from each category

For class 1:
-Virant .22LR (weapon pack 1)
-Kullman .22H (Mississippi Acres Preserve. This is actually a class 1-2 rifle btw)
-Zarza-15 .22LR (modern rifle pack)

For class 2-3:
-Ranger .243 (base game)

For class 4-6:
-Eckers .30-06 (weapon pack 3)
-M1 Iwaniec (Smoking Barrels Weapon Pack)
-F.L. Sporter .303 (Te Awaroa)
-Zarza-10 .308 (Modern Rifle Pack)

For class 7-9:

Now the .22H opens up some interesting possibilities

It works best on maps that have class 1 and 2, but not 3 (such as Layton, Yukon, and ofc, Mississippi)

If you use the .22H on those maps, you can ditch the .243 and replace it with something else

Also, three maps have no animals over class 6 (cuatro, te awaroa, and Rancho)
You do not need a class 7-9 rifle on those maps

You can also ditch the 7-9 rifle on Mississippi since while it has a class 7 animal, that one animal is black bear, which is the least tanky of the three bear species

I also highly recommend bringing a shotgun loaded with birdshot on Rancho and Mississippi since those maps have pheasant and quail, respectively. Both of them have the Grounded mechanic, meaning you have to shoot them out of the air to get a trophy

The spawn itself is random. You could kill 50 male red deer and still not get a diamond, it's dependant on your game's RNG.

Using ammo that is not rated for the animal’s class will fail the “appropriate ammo” harvest check. This will knock the medal down one (i.e. a gold would become a silver) and you would also get less cash and xp as a result.

Sometimes i just plain cant get the callers to work

not sure if im using them wrong, but i just tried to use both the callers on a herd of whitetail and didnt get a single thing out of them from it

if you're out of that range they won't have any effect

Animals which are preoccupied drinking or eating frequently won't be drawn by a caller. Catching them traveling between zones is much more likely to work. Also the skills/perks which improve caller effectiveness are valuable.

Is wind direction always set to go a specific way during a specific time? i notice everytime im on layton i try to hunt whitetail at 12:30 and wind is always east. Is that just the way wiind works in this?

Wind is a little mysterious but yes it will often blow mostly in one direction depending on location, time of day. Not 100% all the time but it tends to be pretty consistent at most locations

Wind is pretty good at deciding to blow inconveniently though when you least appreciate it

. Today went back to rest in that tent and I couldn't! When I went to dismantle it- it said it didn't belong to me. So- how did someone else remove my tent and replace it with theirs?
I am also not getting any cash or XP for my harvests now either.

Open the game go into a map hit the pause/map menu and like on the left hand side the 4th from bottom it says trophy Lodge you press it and create a lodge and then you press saseka lodge 1 and it takes you there

Yo i'm thinking about buying another reserve dlc. I have all except medved, mississipi, rancho and te awaroa. I really like hunting small and medium game(especially with shotgun). Which one reserve would you advise me?

And second question, is modern rifle pack really worth buying when there is a eckers 30-06?

the modern rifle pack is overpowered and I have heard it ruins some experience for some players. I personally enjoy it, although the 5 round capacity is a let down and the dev response to it wasn't a good one imo

the 30-06 has done wonders for me in my opinion, i think that the reserve DLCs are 100% what you should look into unless it's the mississippi one

I'm playing on medved right now, it's not the biggest but I think it's one of the most unique. I love it for the brown bears. I would say if you want a snow reserve get medved, if you want a different I don't know, the other reserves all have mixed ratings on steam. so it would honestly come down to your preference @blazing iron

i was the same way when I started. It is so important that you understand that you wont find anything running around

my best advice is find either an open area or a need zone (animal drinking spot, etc) and wait them out

I found a legendary red deer and took a shot at him, but missed his organs. I reset the time to his drink zone and shoot at him again, but I think I missed the vital organs, since his health went down really slowly. So I leave the game and go back into the same reserve in hopes of seeing him return and making a better shot. However, I have not seen him again.
I have tried getting rid of all the hunting pressure around the lake, resetting the time again, and even leaving and coming back. Still no sign of him at his drink zone. Or any other deer, for that matter. Have I lost him for good?
