M1 is very solid, tho probably 0.303 from Te Awaroa a better straight gun - but with smoking you get the muzzle loader too which is very fun if a little impractical for grinding

noting also the weapon pack coming in 2 weeks (ish) could be a good option too - esp if you don't have wp1 yet

M1 is really good and yes it's in smoking barrels to me personally I main the 7mm I also like the bolt action 30-06 from weapon pack 2 (iirc) and the 303 from te awaroa is really good

But I highly suggest smoking barrels because of the 10 gauge and muzzleloader as well

Like smoking barrels is the best overall weapons pack in my opinion

Yeah the 7mm is the Jack of all trades but master of nothing all nines if you get within closer range and use soft point you can demolish everything with it and it easily has the ability to reach out there and touch anything from any distance

Really the m1 is good if you're trying to kill multiple targets at once

If you're only killing one or two deer at a time in a group the 7mm does that perfectly

a great alternative to the M1 if you're also looking for map DLC is the 0.303 - a comfier gun but slightly slower intra clip - realistically not an issue for most situations

The night vision DLC comes with two different bow variants illuminok variant arrows a 1x4 night vision scope and night vision binoculars there is no option to turn the night vision off so if you're not hunting between 19 00 and 5:00 a.m. it looks like you're staring at Jesus

on the map DLC side of things, opinions certainly vary - possibly depends on how focused you are on missions - some people turn them off completely, some love them. i'm not sure if anyone's ranked them by quality of missions but the general feel is that the earlier maps were better for missions

i have always wondered how scope zeroing on a non zoom optic works

i can understand iron sights they can be ranged but the two red dots and all the bow sights which are fixed 1X all have it

my guess with red dots and holographic sights is that the dot can be shifted a bit to properly zero the weapon

You move the dot for the angle of which you're shooting they have little screws that you turn which moves the little mirror up and down and left and right to adjust the point of impact of the laser on the glass
Pin bow sights they have little nuts on the back of the pins that you just barely loosen and you tap the pin until it gets to the right angle where the tip of the pen is the point of impact at the range your wanting to adjust to and then you tighten the nut back up and make sure it's zeroed

I've noticed that there is areas where concealment won't work but not like whole map. Also the concealment differs a lot between the maps. In Te Awaroa I can be completely hidden even though there's not any plants right beside me.

Is there a way to fix the bug where (dead) animals and blood trails will disappear when they’re far away from the player? I just had to claim 2 invisible corpses and I only found them because of my dog. In pine/yew forests it works perfectly but where there are beech trees they wont give any camo and the bushes are around 30% that work in my experience.Its my fav map but it makes it so hard to bow hunt in these areas....

i think in general its probably best to save up for the 7mm for big game. the DLC guns, they can work to help players make enough money to afford the more specific types of guns and they're also all really unique in different ways. However, there are a few guns that are exclusive to the DLC that are so outstanding that its tough to deny they approach "must buy" territory. The .22 rifle jumps out as the most crucial. the M1 is an absolutely stellar all around rifle for both self defense and larger-than-average game. each of the guns seems to have a unique quirk about them

but i think most of the time i end up leaving the outpost with my 7mm

find a red fox zone (look up their drink times and quietly inspect the ponds for red fox). When you get a red fox drinking, either find some brush to call them in from or just take the shot (only do this if they're 100 meters away or closer cause they're too smol to reliably land a shot farther IMO)

I need a tip to do the quest about shooting the red fox with the bow on hirschfelden, i normally use the bow for bigger preys and i use it while on the run, but since foxes are small i'm trying to get an ambush up, so i set myself up in a concealed position near a fox resting zone, if i use the jackrabbit caller will they come closer to me?

yeah, i might. not for a while though. i'm kinda going through each reservation systematically with this new save. just walking around the map to all the points of interest and establishing a boatload of need and rest zones. i only stumbled into the roosevelt elks as i made my way through layton. if i have any luck, the issue will be resolved by the time i finish another few maps. 😄

In my experience I would say:
Easiest:Whitetail, all ducks, axis, puma/mtn lion, turkey, ibex(becite esp), gemsbok, wildebeest
