which are very nice to have on Vurhonga in particular

They're not great in all areas, very dense forest can make them a little useless, but there's areas on pretty much all maps where they're handy.

But yeah, expensive and heavy. Need to use them strategically, not just place them all over the place.

As far as I know, there ist no way to transfer DLC, progress, or anything from one platform to another.

there is a possibility to get your progress from an xbox to your pc, but that means to root your xbox in order to get to the save files which I would not recommend...

It would also not work because on the xbox you do have the dlcs and on epic not, therefore the save files are not compatible in this case

no it will float towards you, but if you do not kill it, it might swim away and dive down and disappears (just like rabbits are running to their rabbit hole)... and if they die while they are disappeared they won't reappear after that

yeah it is still somewhat of a bug, where when they are in the progress of disappearing they will still do so after they were killed... so maybe try (especially if it is a level 9 you are looking at) to kill them when they are on land

Do other people get their aligators swallowed and disappeared by the river too? I just killed too but they got into the water before dying and I literally couldn't find their bodies anywhere. The two before that floated to me just fine

usually they should respawn as the same you just killed.... it usually is/was so that if you do not obtain an animal you kill it will respawn again at a later point

animals are not distributed equally across all places.
there are, however, sure ways of finding an animal, and sometimes a small or even a big herd.

however they key to that is patience

the more patient you are, the more likely you are to find animals and herds.

the sure way is: follow any tracks while crouching. never stand up.

it's not that you can never walk/run, however in the beginning, while you are less experienced of how much you can get away with walking/running without scaring animals off, just stay crouched.

it's usually fine to "speed" crouch (hold shift while crouching to speed up)

if you are patient enough to follow a track while always crouching it will usually lead you to the animal/heard and there's a high possibility that the animal/herd will be either sleeping/drinking/eating where you find them, which means you'll almost always find them at that location around that time.

i don't use the wait/rest/skip time feature but that's a very personal thing.

to me a big part of the fun of the game is having to know what to do at what time instead of just skipping the time and "farming" single species.

i like the stalking and ambushing game much better.

if you're into skipping time and farming single species, once you find a need zone (rest/eat/drink) spot, just skip time to the beginning of the time for that zone/species and then crouch towards the area. the animals will be there for the killing. it will just be a matter of spotting them since they don't stay in the exact same spot always, but in the close vicinity.

TLDR: don't walk or run. crouch and you'll start to see animals.

oh: always go against the wind. check your compass. forget it about successfully stalking anything that is in the direction where the green area of the compass is pointing.
oh 2: always have your binoculars on. always be scanning the horizon, under trees etc. you'll start getting used to it.

rest comes with time and experience

soon enough you'll be such a professional stalker you'll be sniffing your targets' rears before taking them down.

Well if you haven't the M1 already you can go for the 303 (I think it is from the Te Awaroa map which is much more powerful than the M1 but does not shoot as quick) Otherwise what I would recommend if you have the Yukon DLC go for the .300 so have a gun that can easily kill class 8 and 9 animals and does have more ammo capacity than the 7mm

Currently there is a bug that if you kill something and you are further away than 50meter it will not render correctly... just go to where you shot it and it should reappear again

Hunting rabbits or small prey can be real easy and still wield a lot of rifle score. Its not the best to hunt them with 243, 270, etc though. If you have the 22 from the weapon pack dlc you can farm rabbits real easy and get a lot of rifle score

Lot of my hunts leave no tracks or blood trails. Light us on. Day and night. Only way to track is with dog. And most of the time he alerts found harvest and nothing is there. Also vital shot game like a double lung are having to be tracked 900 meters.... this game always been this broken?

Oh I can actually help you a little bit take it slow because on Layton it's kind of a tightly packed Forest so you can't run too fast otherwise you'll make a lot of noise via there being a lot of bushes and shrubs everywhere and I'd recommend sitting at the edge of fields next to water

if you're talking callers/lures, each one has a range

but if you're talking your own noise/visibility, then yeah, it depends on a lot of factors, but your visibility/noise indicator is your main gauge.
the indicator and also the animal's awareness (which you can tell by spotting them after you get the skill).
a "calm" animal is almost blind/deaf lol. while "nervous", "attentive" etc see/hear you much more easily because they're much more careful

Price for sleeping goes up multiple stages until a certain cap, takes 2 in game hours to go down 1 stage. I never managed to get to price cap of changing time as I've never seen the need to do it that many times so I don't know what the actual cap is.

try the river-like lakes that are meandering all over the place in the west... start at the bottom or at the top during their drink time (12:00-16:30) and go up/down there... you will spot many there

now, find the Avalanche Studios folder in your documents, rename it to something (this will force the game to generate a new folder)

then launch the game

alright, just as i suspected. one or more of your save files is corrupted

now, its not a total loss. we can most likely still recover some of your old save data

@bronze umbra first, we need to figure out which file is corrupted.

to do this, you'd need to re-instate individual files, then launch the game. if the game crashes, the file you had reinstated was the corrupted one. to speed up this process, i recommend reinstating the files in groups of 5 at a time, then when one group causes a crash, remove those 5 files and re-instate each one individually

btw one of the guys from support recommends deleting the current file, then pasting the one from your old save, just to eliminate the possibility of file merging through the overwrite process

Yukon gives the .300, which many consider to be the better of the two 7-9 rifles as it's both lighter and carries multiple rounds

Rancho is probably the best map for whitetail and gives a nice SA shotgun

and Te Awaroa has the .303 which hits the hardest of the 4-8 rifles and is excellent for red deer.
Also, sika deer.

Tax is when you have a lodge only do it if you have a rare animal save harvest means you can save it for a later date to tax it and accept mean you will just acepting you killed the deer
