- the goose DLC is fantastic in singleplayer, but geese are a bit wonky in multiplayer. they'll ignore everyone but the server host

Find a wolf need zone in one area. i tracked wolf tracks (miracle they even gave wolves, right?) from the northern area to the middle area before i lost the tracks. wolves apparently do not eat, rest, or drink. miracle beasts they are 🙂 I look up guides and they only inhabit 3 lakes in the whole map. one of them in this area....BUT there are no need zones. I spawn in and die by wolf, then respawn and the whoooole area i was in and got attacked? no goddamn tracks. how to get a need zone from these guys in tis region?

i figured it out lol. I found tracks from wolves. I traced them back. They poofed in about 250m away from me and killed me, came to me, then ran off and poofed out of existence (tracks disappear) 550m going the other direction lol

If you're wanting a good beginner map I recommend either rancho te awora SRP are my top three recommended picks with SRP being my most recommended beginner map it's a very nice map with a good diverse amount of animals but it has a number of bigger ones that the 243 is not good with

It's completely fine to play both play whichever one you just want to play really they're both really really good maps Layton is a little easier then hirsch but Hirsch is a really good map to play and adventure around and learn about

If you're using base game weapons after you unlock the 7mm so you have a lot more powerful rifle than what you're currently using and with the 7mm 243 and 12ga bird shot once you unlock it you can kill every animal in the game and pass the harvest check it covers all classes of animals with that set up

first off, only a select set of animals can actually go aggressive.
and you are right, it is mostly random, but some things seem to be more likely to set them off.
for instance, killing the alpha male of a wolf pack will usually send the rest of the pack your way

I shot a red deer and next thing I know I have a whole pack of wolves coming to eat me, but I will say that Iberian Wolves will flee after the first shot/kill vs Gray Wolves who are harder to make flee. I can kill about the whole pack before they want to leave

Goose dlc and .22 pistol is the best. Other than that try to kill small targets like coyotes, foxes, rabbits etc

@last hemlock First and biggest thing to be aware of is "which weapon to use on what animal"
For example, the .243 (starter rifle) can be used on anything Class 2 up to Class 6, as denoted by the icons on the ammo
The codex (under "wildlife") tells you which class animals are, both in icon and under "recommended equipment"
the .270 can be used on anything classed 4-8 though I wouldn't recommend using it on moose
generally, the higher on the scale an animal is compared to the weapon's class range, the longer it'll take to bring them down
with softpoints vs. polymers, softpoints are at their most effective close-range and with a broadside shot.
Polymers let you go for heartshots much easier, and keep effectiveness at longer ranges
with the downside of not being as fast to kill as the softpoints are

thats part of the map lore. won't spoil what happened to the outpost, but one of the story missions is to get a temporary outpost up and running

when i got my diamond mule i really had no idea what i was doing, i always say the best way is dont think and just hunt but if you wanna do something else thats obviously fine as well and may even work better.

you should go for brain, neck or heart shots on ones you dont want to lose, they die too slow with lungs and usually will make it to deep water

the drilling in MP is known to be bugged
it should work fine on SP, but it's a low priority issue currently

I don't think you need to own the free DLCs
they were just updates to the game that were... marketed? as free DLC
every DLC is already installed, owning a paid DLC just gives you the ticket to access that content

do make sure that the host enables ATVs to be used in the session in the first place
