Well your efforts weren't totally useless. Even using the wrong ammo as you did, you would have gotten some points in shotgun score downing those pheasants, so you're part of the way there

If you have a few extra bucks to spare, I recommend getting the wild goose chase pack, which is suuuuuuuper useful for grinding geese, and it also has a shotgun that you can use birdshot, buckshot, and slugs right out of the box

Buckshot does pretty good against the javelinas so there is a place you could get a good bit of score from

(besides the fact that hunting geese is the closest thing to printing money you can do in this game)

In that case, another thing you could do for shotgun score is go to this one alley north of the big lake around late morning. Might get a stampede of animals you can unload buckshot on to get shotgun score

The collared peccary is another good animal you can unload buckshot on, especially if they go aggressive

for that matter you can keep shooting rabbits, turkeys, and pheasants with buckshot and you will get SOME shotgun points from it even though you'd get more with the right ammo

(I’m gonna bring this up again cause I never really got an answer.)I got two questions. 1.what would be the best place for whitetail on Layton? 2. I thought I heard of a hidden lake on Layton on the left side that doesn’t show on the map, is that true?

1. Not really a best place cuz whitetail inhabit most of the map. And best place varies by map as well
2. Can neither confirm nor deny the existence of that lake

I think I know the lake you have in mind. On mine the lake had no NZs on it. WT are scattered all over Layton and at least on my map there isn’t a single place where there are more than in another. Every one of my zones has at least one herd.

basically whenever you harvest an animal it will respawn in 4-6 game days with a random level (within the probabilities assigned by the game algorithm so that diamonds etc are rarer).

the only zones on Rancho in which I have NOT found WTs are the ones which border mostly the south and west of the map. Most people concentrate on drink zones at the lakes in the other zones. There are a lot better and more comprehensive guides and recommendations then my two cents though

the lake just northeast of the main outpost/mansion is usually reliable for at least one or two whitetail herds, as well as other animals especially bighorns. It has a well-placed hunting structure on the NE corner too

and one you start harvesting them and they respawn, they can spread out more but probably still mostly within the central area to the NE and E mostly

I've explored a lot of Rancho but I haven't focused white tails or did a grind of them and the content creators who have can give you much better advice

and if they say different than what I did, they are likely right, not me!

Using rocks as blinds.
I learned that you can jump up onto any rock, then lay down and your visibility will drop to a dash, just like being in a blind. So, free blinds most anywhere. You can see quite well, similar to a tripod. Rock does not need to be flat.

Rocks are very good spots to go prone you just have to be mindful to crawl out enough that no part of the rock is in front of you. Sometimes even when you think you are clear, the hitbox on the map for the rock is bigger than it appears and will eat your bullet as soon as it is fired

And that being the case, after several dozen reindeer harvested over 10 weeks/60 hours, how is one supposed to complete the Revenge of Grankin #4 mission in a reasonable amount of time?

Right now there kinda broke as in they will not respond to decoys or calls so best thing to do is if you have the 22 pistol or rifle and go around to nearly every spot of water if you only have a shotgun I recommend the left river that runs the entire vertical portion of the map and try to find groups of ducks close to land

you do need to update it if you changed zero after getting a range

Yes, approach the roll of fabric to the right of the tent opening and it will let you dismantle it

You need to have room in your inventory tho

Plus one thing which is both blessing and curse - if you have, say, 3 blue tents in storage, and you pick up ONE blue tent, you will find you are carrying 4 blue tents. So if you place a tent and then want to plant a tripod, you have to put the other blue tents back into storage first

I'm relatively new to the game and I've watched videos of people shooting geese with the 22 LR, wanted to try it out but I've now used 50 ammo without hitting a single one, is there a trick to it ? Cause I've tried aiming almost everywhere, in front, above, on it, in front and above, at varying distances and nothing works

No real trick, just gotta get used to how to lead them when they're flying. I'd suggest at first to let a flock land, take out out while it's on the ground, then pick one to to try and shoot as it's flying away. It just takes practice!

Hunt club beta was, well, a beta. It's been sidelined for a while, but the Apex system is part of how it will be released as an alpha in the hopefully near future

They are very abundant and there is very little brush to get in the way of your shots

Cautro is one of the best to hunt Red Deer for most because of that, but it all comes done to personal preference

I checked the rules, it has no mention of sharing files such as outposts. Only animal populations etc. @toxic bane But a <@&393042322499305473> can double check that to be sure

You do it the same way as if you was deleting a trophy it just says dismantle you confirm that dismantles it and you get the trophies back

This may have been asked before but I have reformatted my hard drive and when I reinstalled COTW and reuploaded the files from my save game, all lookout points turned green and I have to rediscover them all as well as the cabins. Anyway around this?

if you used cloud saving see if there is any way to recover via that but, if youre levels stayed/hunting lodge stayed, might just have to "rediscover" the maps

When hunting, is killing animals in this way going to affect spawns/need zones? Like, the hunting pressure is a lil spread out so would it make it so even if i hunted more than 3 goats, it wouldn't mess things up?

Pretty much the same as it was before~

• Using an item (caller is pretty consistent) then switching to the Couso and trying to fire from ADS: doesn't fire, needs to press R once to chamber a round manually.
• Emptying the tube, then reloading from zero: at the end of the reloading animation, hunter does not automatically pump the shotgun, needs to press R again to chamber a round.

Seems to me everything affects need zones at least. The zones come and go as the animals spawn and despawn. I had one in Hirsch for a fox that I marked, then spent a couple RL hours in a completely different area on the map, only to come back and find the tracks and the disturbed vegetation where the zone was completely gone. The map still indicated it was there, though.

The hunting pressure will tend to keep the animals out of the area, so you need to make pressure elsewhere to bring them back more consistently to a specific area.

Apex connect is going to be the mechanism they use to facilitate things like regular challenges, competitions, etc. This weeks update merely implemented it so they can tweak and debug it, etc, there is no new content associated with it yet that I know of. With the new GO and upcoming map, I’m just glad they started the process on it.

Geese are one of the best to hunt for cash wise

Using any of the open fields on Hirsch and setting out decoys you don’t have to move as they will flock in group after group allowing you to farm them from one spot
