I've just hunted geese for the first time with the dog. It seems that once you kill a specific amount of geese the dog won't track the earliest ones anymore. I killed 16 and he only tracked the last 9. Even with them laying on the ground right in front of him. I guess just be aware of this and always go get your geese after each flock.

I think anything specifically called albino/lue/melanistic is rare. Just not things with a “black” fur type like the bighorn

Depends on species. Leucistic blackbuck for example is not rare at all while black feral goat is more on the rare side.

You can sometimes catch them by hand if you're quick, but it's easier to use a gig. Basically a wooden pole with a barbed metal spike sticking off one end

You need to be about, like, 30-25m

for the pic to register

If you can get to about 50m to him without alerting him, standing up and sprinting to him while spamming the camera should work

between him going alert, alarmed, and fleeing, you should have ample opportunity to close the gap

Lynx are skittish animals with good senses. Approach those four lakes slowly.

I have also seen them drinking in the central river (which a part of Lesnye Lands covers).

Night vision binos are gonna be your best friend. As will the predator Jackrabbit caller

I believe the pics have to be taken within about 30-50m or so. Hide in a bush and lure the lynx in with the caller (make sure you have good wind tho)

I will, like I do tripods. Place tent at least 300m from where I want to hunt then I go and place the stand. Fast travel back and rest until the drinking time. Does this sound good, or do I need to change my approach? Maybe attempt feeding times?

Drink times are the best because the lynx are most visible during them

And that setup looks good. Remember to bring the caller so you can lure one in for a quick photoshoot

Its was just a joke dude also if your not using zero it auto zeros to 40 so that's probably the reason

The bows zeroing is very different to rifle if your 170 away you basically aim right on but with a bow 20m off you would maybe get spine

Rancho and Hirsh have one bugged stand each

FT works on most maps, the giant exception being SRP. one outpost on Rancho doesn't work, and you can't fast-travel to the main outpost on Parque without it knocking you out for some weird reason

and I think with Te Awaroa it'll drop you at a random one sometimes

Typically those animals from a deleted zone will create a new need zone on your map. In my experience, it’s usually in the same general area, maybe a couple hundred yards from the original spot. I have a couple of grizzly bear drink zones from that bridge myself.

My understanding is that on PC at least, they're currently bugged where they don't show properly in the lodge or even right after you shoot them as trophies (rares show as commons, diamonds get downgraded, etc). Supposed to be fixed in the next patch, and retroactively fix anything you hunt in the meantime... but I'm focusing on other animals out of an abundance of caution

great one is a special variation of diamond that only exists on whitetails. they have a special medal (GREAT ONE), as well as a higher max weight than whitetails. plus a MONSTER rack that can score sometimes more than double what the diamond rating is

"Trot" is how animals move around on the map normally, sometimes they walk a bit, then start trotting again. What you are describing sounds normal to me. If you spook them, the track will tell you that they ran away. Also they are fairly fast, you can realistically catch up to them at their need zone, which is probably the smart thing to do anyway.

I'm kinda new to this game and am a bit unsure about predator aggression. I've killed several bears on Layton Lakes and none of them have gotten mad at me after I hit them. They just ran like the herbivorous animals on the map and eventually bled out. I watched some youtubers hunting various predators, and as soon as the predator's hit, it attacks like it has a thirst for murder (like you'd expect from an aggravated carnivore).

What exactly does it take for a predator to attack in this game? (sorry if this is a stupid question LOL)

Some very rarely go aggressive, others can go aggro faster than you can pull the trigger of your rifle. And it is sorta random though. Here’s the animals I know can go aggressive at least reasonably often:
-Both types of Wolf
-Both types of Buffalo and Bison (Water Buffalo are infamous for doing this)
-All types of Pig (altho you need to get pretty close for them to go aggro)
-Collared Peccary (ditto pigs, though bobcats can sometimes make them go aggro)
-Lions
-Grizzly Bear

Yeah. I believe black and brown Bear go aggressive sometimes, but I’ve only heard of it a couple of times

@paper meteor Wolves have a unique AI for attacking though. They don’t just try to bulldoze you, instead they will approach you as a pack and attack all at once. If you kill one out of a group in a need zone, especially a high-raking male, the entire pack will sometimes go aggro and make their way towards you

There’s also anecdotal evidence that suggests that killing the alpha male of an aggro wolf pack will cause the rest of the pack to flee

As a general rule, the best spots are all along the river between layton lows and the lake district, if you have a category 8 weapon for moose and elk. Otherwise, the lake in central lake district, particularly the southern bit, is great for deer

(the river has plenty of deer too, it's just that you'll find lots of things you can't shoot with just the .243)
