aim for a single lung shot cuz that's about the best you will be able to get

tho you can go for frontal heartshots

moose also are kinda dumb so you can walk up to 150sh meters and then crouch closer to get a better angle

soft point is very rarely worth it, you want the extra penetration to get more vital organ hits

in terms of animal coverage, yes. it's more of a jack of all trades weapon tho. m1 will do better against class 4-6 and .300 will do better against class 7-9. but the 7mm is one weapon, m1 and .300 are two weapons

It’s still decent though. It’s probably the most accurate over long range and sounds and looks good it’s just not quite as powerful as some of the others like the .303 or the .30-06’s

I mean you should really only be using 4-8 for class 4-6 animals then use the .300 or .338 for 7-9 so power isn’t a huge deal. It just takes a bit longer to track when you’re trying to grind a bunch of animals in a drink zone time

Yeah I’d recommend the Argus later on but that’s only once you have the weapons you need and some tents and tripods. Argus is good for long range shots and shots on diamond potentials when you’re not trying to kill 2-3 animals quickly

You should be using a 4-8 class ammo for fallow. .270, .303, .30-06, minie ball, .45-70, 7mm to name a few. Those will have no issue with broadside lung shots, usually a drop shot if you hit both lungs. Single lung will bring it down within 30-40m with those calibers

Yeah just track it down and kill it and take a look at your shot and see what went wrong. If you don’t know you can swap between seeing the animal and seeing your shot with transparent animal using right trigger on console

There are 2-3 places that spawn more flocks more regularly. As far as times, They seem to spawn more frequently around 0730, 1200, and 1600. Though, none of that is 100%.

The .303 is slightly more powerful. However I would always recommend the M1 (.30-06) as it has more than enough power and has far less recoil than the .303 British and therefore follow up shots are much easier. Once you get good enough you can take out 2-3 animals out of a herd pretty easily with M1

depends what you are trying to do but the grunt one is usually "better" to call in a herd and the bleat better to get nearby deer to come closer

I’ve found lately that the bleat caller isn’t really working. Whitetail won’t come into the bleat caller whether you’re at 150m, 100m, 75m, nothing works for me. Grunt caller they virtually always come in after calling 4 times then twice every 45-60 seconds

Improvised blind first IMO. Mashing your caller 5 times will generally work without fatal attraction but works better with it. I’d go improvised blind then work on the other. Both of them compliment your play style by the sounds of it

There’s a range cap on them so be within that range. Also if you’re only hitting the caller once or twice it doesn’t work as well as hitting it 5 times to get their attention

Depends on the level. Low level females will walk right up to you, some males will stay a bit further away

I myself am more comfortable with bullet drop though so anything under 275m or so I zero for 150m and aim top of lung/bottom of spine so the bullet can drop to where I want it to make contact. Maybe that would be easier for you

Yeah something with the bug fixes in the Te awaroa patch broke so many other things and caused many crashes that they haven’t resolved yet. They originally said they didn’t know there was an issue when everyone on discord was complaining about it but then they owned up to it and if you check the #📢︴game-news they are still trying to find fixes for the uptick in crashes

thanks for the reply, was kinda annoying that they said they didn't know anything when I spent hours with tech support trying to troubleshoot the issue. They kept trying to say it was on my end, and I kept telling them i didn't have issues until i downloaded TA, and that the issues coincided with the download, they kept telling me they can't figure out what was happening and kept insisting it was on my end, finally I just said screw it. that's what saved harvests is for. if you either can't or won't taxi an animal on the spot, you can save up to ten harvests to taxidermize later on using the saved harvests

one more tip: dont aim for the head. hitting the skull on all animals except class 1 (wabbits, ducks, turkey, and geese) will fail the "undamaged trophy organ" check. failing any of the harvest checks drops the trophy one level (i.e. a gold will become a silver)

Example here. "6" in the corner is the animals class. This determines which ammo to use. Each ammo has class ranges tied to them. Then there is animal lvl, 4-Easy in this case. This determines how big the animals is. The higher the lvl, the better the animal will score. Species max at lvl 3, 5 or 9, check from codex which is the max lvl for species.

When hunting whitetail i go to a tent (cheaper to reset time that way), change time to 12:35, then 12:34, 12:33, 12:32, 12:31, 12:30, turn off game, turn game back on. That’ll be the best bet to have your respawns take place as quick as possible and will be at the start of whitetail drink time. For other species I do the same thing but coordinate the time with their drink time.

Drink time is usually the best time to hunt most species. You know they will be at water vs in the forests which are huge and hard to find animals and they have short sight lines. I usually reset time at a tent for cost savings (doesn’t matter where) and then fast travel to a location where I’ll have to run 500 or so meters to a zone. That time will allow animals to get into their zones which usually takes 30-45 in game minutes.

I don’t think where you choose to reset time has any effect on animals respawning if that answers your question

Single player is better for grinding specific species to get diamonds of that species and multiplayer can be better for finding random diamonds from all species on the reserve. Multi can also be less boring as you never know what’s around the corner as single player if you play enough you know the vast majority of what is on your map

really it's luck on average people get around one Diamond per 100 of the same animals killed I got my diamond duck about 10-15 ducks in but I also looked and seen it score which have to get a couple of perks makes life a lot easier

to get a diamond, you must first find an animal with a diamond trophy rating (the rating depends on the size of the trophy, usually the antlers/horns)

once you find a diamond-rating animal, then you must do four things:
-Shoot the animal with proper ammo (see the ammo's recommended classes for which classes it will pass this check on)
-Hit at least one vital organ (heart, lungs, liver, neck bones, and brain)
-Don't damage the trophy organ (in nearly all cases, this is the skull)
-Shoot the animal no more than twice

if you fail any of those checks, the medal (gold, diamond, etc) will drop by one

max level is usually diamond, though there are some that can make it at one below max and some that are notorious for trolling. here's a list of which animal maxes at which level:

Max at 9 - LEGENDARY:

• all felines
• all canines
• all bears
• both types of buffalo
• red deer

Max at 3 - VERY EASY

• all rabbits & hares
• all ducks
• turkey
• siberian musk deer
• roe deer
• whitetail deer (excluding Great Ones)

They use same ammunition, in real life you will get more power from the rifle as the bullet is being pushed for longer up the barrel, and because you can introduce more twist through the longer barrel it should also be more accurate.

Actually, that's just a part of why I was asking. I was thinking about the suggestion on adding a .44-40 levergat, and thought about a revolver to pair up with it in the same caliber. Just wanted to know if the .22 in the game currently behaves differently in the rifle and the pistol.

Same ammunition so I don't think there would be much of a power difference before range is factored in, but the pistol's bullet drifts a bit to one side I think.

i am actually unsure of that. you can, however, also report those crashes through the website (be sure to describe what you were doing immediately before the game crashed, and send your save files if needed)

I’ve reported the quad lights issue and got confirmation, and sent more follow up information. So they are definitely aware and hopefully fixed soon.
