I played 2 Days, but i like Hirschfelden alot more than Layton. The open fields are just perfect for hunting. I've haf 1 field where animals would eat and sleep, there i killed 8 of them

Layton is good because of the moose and the bears are pretty fun, and hunting geese there is amazing, but it's lacking in danger and large animals. Hirsch has Bison and other funky animals that are a bit harder to kill, but it's lacking in the animal variation, which in the long run, kinda sucks ass. I only go there for bison

Yeah and a .300 round can’t penetrate Cape buffalo at 150m sometimes. Messed up a diamond from 2 broadside shots at 150m that both should’ve hit lung. Not even through the thick part of the shoulder either

As I remember (perhaps wrongly!) if you come in from the southern entrance and crouch, you can sneak in fairly easily. I think there is a ledge you can stay on too. You really need the Rhino or the .338 or .300, however. Or the Nitro Express (the King)

I pref. the .338 but it is single shot. You’ll need to use iron sights in the cave I suspect. The 10ga shotgun with slugs is also good. The King is perhaps not valid; that might be class 9 only. I cannot remember

the best ways i've found to hunt coyote are: hear a call close by and hide in thick brush and then call him in, or track it and scare it on purpose as they don't run too far is easy to catch them up when then stop and take the shot

for the valuez missions is best to take the first approach to make sure the animal doesn't run away from the mission area

primarily depends on what weapons you like using, but they generally can be divided into one of a few categories.
-Run'n'Gun, where you just run around and blast whatever
-Stalker, where you stalk animals based on their tracks
-Ambusher, where you stealthily approach animals and sometimes lure them in with callers
-Marksman, where you mostly take medium and long range shots (>200m usually)

This might be as annoying as people claim geese used to be, but I'm seriously trying to understand what's going on with goose spawning. I'm seeing fresh youtube vids of flock after flock. But I'm only able to grab 1 every 2 hrs irl. Did the bloodhounds update that broke it or is that wrong info? Should I uninstall and start fresh (havent made much progress after coming back so it wouldn't be a huge loss.) I just can't get a straight answer anywhere. Hoping for actual info here. For testing purposes, I grabbed a population scanner and it SAYS there are tons of geese on the map. But idk if they are spawned in elsewhere or just "ready to spawn" and the spawner is wanked up.

I also saw a map the other day, that has the flight paths in big loops around the fields. Do we know if that's how they work? Or are the straight lined through the map?

i THINK the flight paths are more or less a straight line across a part of the map. i think the loops around the fields are from them breaking formation and descending to the (false) place with other geese

all the spawns are randomized, so if you kill a level 3 blacktail, it could respawn as a tiny level 1, a gigantic level 5, and everything in between

paradoxically, I don't think marksmanship is that important in this game: you have plenty of chances to shoot stationary animals, and even when they move they tend to do it slowly (unless they're fleeing obviously) and with frequent brief stops

Yea. Skeet, targets, etc. Something with more feedback. As it stands, we really just have the binary feedback of hit or not. And if you don't land a kill shot on larger animals, you've no feedback at all about shot placement.

i think that dummy targets of some animals would be neat. like, a standard deer, fox, bison, etc. body that can show you what and where you hit when you take a shot. and you can rotate that target to get different angles or change its pose

Not even do they spawn randomized, but you're not even guaranteed to spawn the same animal. Some person was doing some research on it with a script that reads your animal population file and tells you what's in your map, and you can kill a level 4 Moose and spawn a lvl 1 Bear instead. I don't think there's at all a way to 'grind' trophies other then dumb luck while killing things

Idk, I've seen the evidence of it. As I said, some person released a program that literally reads your population file and runs in the background and writes on everything you do. You shoot a Bear, it'll say [Killed: Black Bear *trophy score, weight here] then [Spawned: Mule Deer, level 3, trophy score weight here]

There are videos out there I just dont know what to search to find them it's been a while since I saw it. But this guy ran it in the background the whole hunt, could see every single animal spawn (and whether it was a diamond or not) and it was very rare for one animal to spawn into the same animal again

I don't remember their name, but they literally said in this discord today that they downloaded the program to see if Goose were bugged. Ask them to shoot something and see what spawns in place.

if you're so sure, you must be right... I'm just shocked for several reasons... one of them is when people runs a "X grinding" to harvest diamonds or a great one, and considering the small chance of diamond spawn per se, if you have to divide the new spawns among ALL species in a reserve, that'd make it a true nightmare, you would need to kill literally thousands of X in order to spawn a go

Yea its surprising what you can find out there. So many cheats/mods/ways to get ahead in pc. Ive noticed a huge difference between PC and console ccs. Interesting how a lot of the major PC CCs get diamonds/max weight rare diamonds every couple days versus console CCs who get Just regular diamonds every few weeks. Coincidence 🤷 Just a thought. I got sucked into that when I first started and was amazed. Then discovered what the real "illusion" was. Having said that there are a few truely honest pc ccs out there. You'll find them and see the difference :)

there is bullet travel time so if the animal is moving, you can hit slightly behind where you were aiming

you can go to hirschenfelt and there is a shooting range to the east of your arrival point where you can test fire your weapons on different ranges

#

allows you to see how each gun acts at what distances

#

for archery, you would need to go to parque fernando (if you dont own it, join a multiplayer map)

#

if you are ready to take a shot and the animal is moving, you could jump up in the air to get it into alert state for a few seconds so it stops moving

#

then go back to crouch and take the shot

#

if you are too close or mistime it they might go into alarmed state and flee instead

so it takes some practice to master

as an example, your starting rifle is rated for class 2-6, which roughly covers red fox to red deer in size. doesn't mean it will be effective against all those classes (particularly at the upper end of that class range), but those are the animal classes you can take with it and pass the "proper ammo type" check

my current loadout is the default gun which is actually pretty good for the 3s, the 4-6 i use the M1, have .22 i think for small game and birds, and am waiting to get the .300 for anything that gun can shoot.

@sour copper If you’re using lures, hit the lure 4-5 times, that should get their attention, then hit it twice every 45-60 seconds after that as needed. It takes a lot of calls to scare them away but apparently can be done if you use it too much. Most lures last around 90 seconds after you use them but calling every 45-60 seconds should keep them moving towards you without spooking them. Be careful though they come up to you pretty quickly and if they get too close to you they will spook

Yeah they'll come back, but higher scoring animals tend to bolt for longer and are slower to approach your call, idk how to keep them at a distance so they dont spook before I get a good shot on the bigger animals.

Also if there's only like 30 minutes left of them using the zone they sometimes decide to not come back.

YES. it only takes 1-2 hours IRL to unlock all the outposts and observation towers, but it speeds everything up hugely. only reason not to is that you tend to find alot of rest/feeding zones if you're doing it on foot

drinking zones are kind of self explanatory. just wait til drink times, and hit the water. for feeding/sleep zones, if i can find a feed zone, i'll often walk that contour line on the map during the feed time for that species. you can also find quite a few zones just wandering around opening up outposts and following tracks around at the right times of day.

longbows dont have scopes, so you gotta compensate manually. Composites have 5 pin options to help with aiming. Crossbows hit the hardest but make more noise / take longer to reload

Rabbits are at set locations and are only out at certain times of the day. Just look for the burrows.

the predator jackwabbit caller works out to 200m, and it wont work on animals that are alert, alarmed, fleeing, defensive, or nervous

yes that's what I meant, when one or more animals flee, or I hear a warning call, I hide and spam the caller; more often than not many of them come to me
I wasn't referring specifically to a herd in a need zone (where like I said they come back due to my caller, if you don't call them it usually takes a few minutes instead of just seconds)

you don't need a perk to use the range finder on your 'BRIGHTSIGHT RANGEFINDER BOW SIGHT'. But yes it is 'E' to range whats on the red dot.

you can test all the maps via multiplayer before deciding what you want

i'd suggest vurhonga or yukon. Yukon gets you a .300 rifle that is ideal for class 7-9 and the map looks great. Vurhonga has exotic animals and a lot of open fields

#

whichever map you pick, the game treats you as if it's the first map you ever played in mission difficulty so it's not too hard to start

#

cotw dlc's go on sale quite often as well

Vurhonga is a really open map, fun for run and gunning. Medved is really nice but very few decent open spaces. Yukon used to be my favourite map of all it has good animals and the map changes with the weather

Hi, when I hunt I like to only shoot the biggest. So I might walk past 3-5 bucks before I shoot. I have rather few harvests pr hour.

Will it take even longer for me to get a diamond because I let all the lower scoring ones live? Is it always the same animals on the map, unless I shoot one and only that particular animals respawn?

they all stay until shot. But shooting a bigger one has the best chance of spawning an even larger one in it's place. The reverse is also possible. At least this is the common understanding within the community

It was said at some point and my memory banks stored it lol. I watch all of the dog stuff. DD33 had the slow mo dog problem on his video. he was informed to turn hunt club on and reset. That fixed it. Other's heard it too it looks like.

the .303 is generally a little easier to hit long shots with, and it packs a little more punch. class 4 targets drop in their tracks most of the time
the m1 is semi-auto, so it's much easier to harvest multiple animals if you're grinding WT at layton or something like that
they're both really best for class 4-6, although the .303 works well enough on red deer. for anything elk size or larger, you really want the .300 or .338

most of the pronghorn i shoot, i shoot from 250+m from tripods, so i like the .303 for that. makes long shots on small targets easier

if you let things simmer for a minute after shooting an animal, the herd will usually come back and you can shoot multiple pronghorns that way

to give your dog a treat, you have to be standing, and the dog has to be sitting. walk up next to him til you get the prompt, press B, and give treat will be one of the menu options as long as you're carrying dog treats

Yeah, I shot 3 wild hogs with a pistol and the need zone went away. maybe there was a tiny bit of pressure I couldnt see? sometimes those circles become blotches when they decay.

they weigh less. I can carry a Bow with 420 gr. and 600 gr. to cover all animals (up close as downside) and then the .45 revolver I can load with birdshot and the .45 round to cover 2-5 and a 30-06 for the 4-8 animals. It just lets me hit smaller animals further away than the bow.

pistols are pretty useless the way they're done in game because it takes just as long to aim them as it does a rifle with iron sights. the traditional bows are a better quick draw weapon for bear defense and such because they're easier to sight quickly, imo and they have great penetration

the one exception is the .454 Rhino, but it takes many, many, many pistol kills to get it. too many. shotguns are also great for close up hunting. if you broadside a grizzly with a 10 ga slug under 50 yards, they'll almost always drop in their tracks

i seem to recall it takes quite a few bow points to get the special sight, so you'll have to learn to shoot with the normal bow sight or sightless. you can't equip sights on the traditional bows, so that's the only way to use them. they're easy enough to get the hang of if you use them alot. at one point i could hit 40-50m shots pretty consistently with them

whoever shot the animal gets the money/xp. if two or more people shoot the animal, the money/xp is divvied up based on how much damage each person dealt

Yes, you can teleport to the tent. Everyone in the server can until you remove it (and you are the only one allowed to remove it)

use shift to hold your breathe, and aim higher the further you are from your target

by default rifles are zeroed at 150 meters: if the target is closer, aim lower; if it's further, aim higher

#

in time you'll take a skill called zeroi g that'll allow you to zero your weapons at 3 different distances, depending on the weapon

#

the other question is a tad more subjective, it depends on the animal's s3nses, terrain, and again, a skill that makes you quieter

Because the base game came out 4 years ago. And they've added more content for people to play. It might seem a lot now but it's been gradually coming few a year. Why? To keep people playing, coming back and the game keeps getting updated.

I get that you need it for missions but once you’ve done the 3 missions you need a camera for its simply an inconvenience for as long as you play the game. In my case, it was needed for 30 minutes and has been an inconvenience for 2000 hours. That math isn’t good for qol

It should be a weight free inventory item that can be equipped if needed or just let console players view the photos they take. They need some ppl on the dev/product teams that are console players

No it doesn’t but it’s pointless (besides missions which I completed within the first day of map release on each reserve) on console and causes two issues: scrolling through inventory takes longer because you have to scroll through the camera since the doggo dlc, and when spotting multiple animals in a herd it sometimes goes into camera mode which is super frustrating especially when they’re travelling

I respectfully disagree. That would be very inconvenient when scrolling through pictures and deleting them and what not. Plus every screenshot on Xbox is automatically shared to your feed or you have to share each one individually. Also, taking screenshots or video captures is easier and faster on Xbox than pulling out your in game camera.

I still am wondering about the Europeans Rabbits on Hirschfelden though. I have two burrows that I've gone to a couple of times now, haven't demolished the burrow with hunting pressure or anything, but they do seem fairly permenant. You guys have said that the burrows spawn around in a variety of places, so I wondering, what makes a burrow disappear/despawn and what's the behaviour of the rabbits when you scare them into their burrows? How do you encourage them to come out again?

Is there a one stop shop video on European Rabbits anywhere by any chance?
