afaik, most species only spawn diamonds at their max level, which in this case would be 5... but I don't know if that's the case
however, even if you don't use mods, people say when you join a mp server where the host does use them, your own files might get "corrupted"

Almost all TruRACS and TruHorns animals can make diamond at 1 level below max. i've seen it happen on all four types of ibex, whitetail deer, pronghorns, and now blackbucks, just to name a few

what you got was just a very high scoring level 4, which do spawn from time to time

max weight of iberian mouflon is 60kg, yours is 57.4kg. so it's perfectly within the realm of possibility. and remember that scoring of TruRACS animals is almost completely independent of weight. higher weight is CORRELATED with higher trophy rating, but is not directly linked. for instance, i've seen level 2 whitetails score diamond while the odd level 3 did not

Depends on the animal. Level 2 turkey and ducks occasionally make diamond. Female gemsbok are known to score diamond at level 4. and I have a level 4 wildebeest that scored diamond. for pretty much every other animal tho, yeah. max level or bust

i believe 5 of each for a total of 10 (correct me if i am wrong tho). it's not a retroactive change though, so if you had more than 5 before the update, those will not be affected

Here's some tips:

1. bodies of water tend to be good places to look for animals, especially during their drink times.
2. Aim for the chest. this gives you the best shot at hitting a lung, and hitting a vital organ guarantees that the animal will die.
3. Pay attention to the wind and your noise level. You ideally want to be downwind of your prey so they dont smell you. and you also dont want them to hear you

Several youtubers also have beginner's guides, some of which may be slightly outdated due to scoring 2.0 and other changes

they tend to be in the same general areas, but not in the exact same locations. As an example, one lake will pretty much always have a whitetail drink zone, but one person's map will have that drink zone on one side of the lake, and someone else's map will have that drink zone on the other side of the lake

Hey guys, so i've been struggling for weeks to do the "shoot a blacktail deer on kraken rope bridge from 200m" mission

I simply couldn't find any need zones/blacktail in the area...

I finally found a rest zone but it's in a really bushy area, doubt I'll ever have a 200m meter shot there

The age old question. I know many would say layton lakes. It has a high animal density to the point of feeling like a shooting gallery. It is in a way easier to come across animals but!

Hirschfelden has some areas with very dense vegetation. Which can be difficult if you jist start out but it also has open areas like corn fields and whatnot. I would say try hirschfelden. Becouse if you can hunt in hirsch, you can hunt anywhere. Will teach you to be quiet and observe your surroundings.

But you can test out both and see what you like better. Hirach is the largest map i think.

Oh yeah i recommend that to everybody. Use a headset, headphones. It makes a big difference. You will start to hear so much more. Especially at night. You will start to trust your ears instead of your eyes. Kinda like irl

What I'll do if I don't see anything at a need zone is I'll go somewhere and sit in the foliage and use a call and wait

True. Also a tactic i use with callers is.. If i walk trough dense vegetation and hear an animal nearb. I check the wind then try to find a bush or any cover that has at least 10-15 meters of open area in front of me. That way when iam calling the game i can spot it and take a shot the second it comes out of the shrubery.

Also about predators like foxes and coyote.If you calk them, they might try to get your scent by circling around you to get into the wind. Especially high lvl animals. They are smarter.

And they often go silent for awhile. So keep yours ears sharp.

a need zone will only disappear for good if one of two things happen:

1. Too much hunting pressure accumulates in the area around the need zone
2. All animals that use that zone have been killed

they will not see the tent, but placing it down will spook everything in about a 200m radius

no, the tent's light cannot be turned off (which is a real stinker if you're grinding animals that have nighttime drink times)

also, make sure you can cover as much of the map as possible. there could be animals in areas you've never checked before, and one of them could possibly be a diamond

they can respawn literally anywhere. that's why it is important to cover as much of the map as possible with outposts and maybe tents

another good tip is to get the skill that gives you an estimate of the animal's weight when you examine their tracks, and then when you find one - track them to the ends of the earth

weight estimate is not a reliable way of gauging if an animal is a diamond just cuz an animal often needs to be close to the top of their weight range to make diamond

case in point: during my lynx grind i've seen at least 20 max weight estimate animals. so far, only one of them was a diamond

I found the cause for the problem. The bloodhound command wheel uses a button that is already used, mapped for something else. That means pressing down on digi cross will conflict with several other interactions and functions. And since we can't remap the buttons(at least not on console), it will stay bugged.

oh for sure, pick what you feel is best. Keep in mind the loving trait only helps the hearts. how much you get per affection and max bond. It is possible that three hearts increases XP gain. However, hearts overall purpose is to recharge the lightning bolt focus/stamina. At max dog level the hearts will practically have little to no use. It's all new. Certainly get opinions.

detour also doesn't help greatly during levelling as you pretty much should track everything even if it drops on the spot. Loving is good for levelling, shortcut is good for max level dog. At max level the dog will mainly just be used for the shots that do not kill the animal. That's where shortcut will shine. I have to do more testing on shortcut, but I feel 9 out of 10 times it should be the choice. But we can have multiple dogs too 🙂

Hey guys, u know how when your controller disconnects and it starts to make your controller drift? I did research and figured out how to fix it, you no longer need to reset your game! Go to your settings when your game drift occurs, go to wireless controller, and switch the controller to inverted and then back to normal, or vise versa if u play on inverted, try it out, it works!

Hey guys, could use some tips from more experienced players. I've been trying to do the "shot a blacktail deer from 200m on kraken rope bridge" but it seems my game doesn't have the drink need zone most people use to do this mission

recently i've found a doe that has a rest zone near the area that I could use to do the mission. the tricky part is that the area is really bushy so a 200m shot is almost impossible

i dont trust the silhouettes tbh. instead, look at the recommended classes for each ammo type. These are the classes that you can use this ammo on and pass the "proper ammo type" check.

when you spot an animal, it will tell you what class they are. The codex will also give you a "recommended equipment", which, taking a blacktail deer as an example, includes "Class 4 Ammo" (or it may be "weapon class 4", i forget exactly what it is)

taking this spotting screen as an example (which has info that can be obtained by getting the Spotting Knowledge skill from the ambusher skill tree), in the upper right below the orange bar, you will see the number "3". this indicates that this is a Class 3 animal, and you need ammo that is rated for class 3 animals

yup. tree stands and tripods are your best friend when it comes to bringing animals in, and not spooking them, AND they lower the amount of hunting pressure put down if you shoot from them. @ember grotto sometimes it's just bad luck. You can sit at a spot and see nothing but common low lvl animals. The next day you get 2 mythical and a legendary. Happens to all of us..
Patience is very important in this game.

missions are the most efficient way to make money and xp

focus on them

shoot anything you see, as long as you have legal ammo (as detailed in the spreadsheet pinned in this channel)

lakes and rivers are the most common place where you'll find animals

use the ingame codex, it explains most things

keep in mind that running spook animals in a wide area, walk instead (and crouch or crawl when close to animals)

Also— looking for those need zones— pay attention to the times for those zones. If your not seeing animals then come back to that area at a different time.

short answer: it depends a LOT on your playstyle

friends said i was apparently very good at bows so i stopped using guns

i mainly run around and shoot everything i see

because the reload time on it is good

and the arrows do loads of damage

if you're more laid back and you like slow relaxing crawling towards your prey

long answer:

Bows favor a much more stealth-oriented approach. they are much quieter than guns but dont have the range, so you have to get a lot closer to use them effectively. but for those that can use them effectively, they have some absolutely stupid penetration and damage.

in addition to that, they also generate a good bit less hunting pressure than guins
