No, animals are not behind any paywall if you have the map. You don't need the duck or goose dlc to hunt them. They just provide more tools to do so.

I had plenty luck hunting geese without the dlc. You just need the caller and the right location. No goose dlc needed. If you need locations watch flinters goose yt video. Got 2 diamonds without the dlc... you do not need the dlc to get the caller

Hey guys. You know the one skill in the Ambusher tree, where you activate it at a Lookout point and it's supposed to show need zones and animals? (it's at the end of the tree and has 2 levels)

Has anyone used that, and can offer opinions on it?

It's a great skill to have, it will reveal 1 to 4 need zones in that area every 30 minutes. You can deactivate the skill in that time for another then reactivate and use the skill again. That 2nd part of the skill to reveal groups of animals is pretty useless.

no you can't unfortunately, once you hit level 60 you'll have like 20 something skill points to spend, and way more skills that you won't be able to unlock
so you'll have to prioritize

I wish we could have more skills... or they would raise the level cap or something...

Hitting a vital organ guarantees that the animal will die (i know this cuz I accidentally killed a lion with a .223 lung shot once)

If it says "from a ground blind," then either the preset map blinds, OR the DLC "tent" blinds will work.

if it says "from a hunting stand," then ONLY one of the preset map stands will work, you may not use a tripod or tree stand.

also, small tip: "Harvest [animal] from ground blind at night," just means you have to pick up the kill between 19:00-5:30. You don't actually have to make the killing shot at night; just be in the blind, make the shot, and then wait until nighttime to go collect the harvest.

it's also mis-aligned low and to the right. honestly to improve the red dot, they just gotta properly align the sights and make the dot smaller. (or you could just use the reflex sight for the time being)

to be fair, why would you use anything other than a scope on rifles? heck, the iron sights of most rifles are not bad. some of them are actually quite good (like the M1)

I spotted a lvl 9 lynx on my map, than I changed time to find his zone, didnt find him anymore. Ive restarted my game, been there in the same times I saw him the first time. Animals won’t just disappear. He’s on your map somewhere. It’s possible you’re looking in the right places, but not at the right times

I were able to reclaim all with driving there except the one in the burned forest. It was a hell lot of work and I'm curious how to get the lodge in the burned forest too, and how to prevent it from happening again.

How are need zones killed? It's when u stack 3 hunting pressure at one place right? Does the hunting pressure have to be the animal thats related to the zone?

No it's just 4 animals killed with a rifle in the area. For example if you have 2 zones near together and you get Tier 4 hunting pressure, both zones will be deleted. If you're hunting with a bow ore you're in a blind or something like that, you'll be able to shoot more animals

there are best rifles for a certain animal class, but not a best overall because each rifle is only rated for a certain range of animals

to be able to take every animal in the game, you need a variety of weapons.

.243 is the only long range 2-6 classed rifle. Solokhin is good for class 3, anything 4-6 I’d use the M1 or any 4-8 classed rifle but if you only wanna carry one rifle it’s the .243 polymer. Keep in mind zeroing at 300 is accurate at about 250 for the .243

additionaly on the zeroing if you go to the target range is about a ring low at 300m if that helps figure how much to aim high. if aiming broadside at 300m aiming center of chest would end up low chest so aim slightly high at 300 but still on the body

at level 1 of that skill, you unlock the ability to see the approximate health.
at level 2, you can see their weight and TR estimates
at level 3, you can see how aware they are of potential threats (like you for instance)

I have been complaining of that bug for over a year. In the end I restarted my file entirely and my outposts no longer disappear, but before I restarted I made sure to keep a tent at the burned outpost. While I lost outposts every load In, I never lost tents.

Yeah you have to be right beside him looking at him then the hold to interact option will come up and it brings up a slightly different wheel that gives the option to pet, play, sit, etc. But it doesn’t have the option to treat. Does it have to be shortly after he tracks something to give them a treat? I have 500 treats in inventory but can’t find out how to give him one

i haven't shot a bird or rabbit since patch, so my crashes are unrelated.

Killed a bunch of shit > got stuck at tracking level 15 99% > asked dog to track black bear (only nearby blood spatter) > game crashed > upon reload dog found 1 more track, hit level 16. > after this, dog cannot find tracks at all anymore. I can stand ontop of a vital shot bloodtrail or even right on top of a corpse and he says no tracks found, occasionally doesn't even look for tracks just goes straight into 'idle' when I command track. Now dog is broke ;-;

When the Bloodhound reaches level 15 its animations may decline into a persisting slow motion state, essentially making it unusable. Thought to have been resolved during early production, this issue selectively reappeared during the Content Creator Weekend and has since been popping up more frequently among the sheer volume of players.

As an almost immediate temporary fix a server-side change has already been pushed to prevent the issue for players that have yet to encounter it, and solve it for the minority of players who have.

Dose this mean I can just create my own Multiplayer Session and set it to privet to prevent the bug? Or does it only work for the public games listed in Multiplayer?

so basically, you need a bleed rate that will cause them to bleed out faster than that timer for the animal to die

there are three organs that you can hit that will instantly drop the animal:
-heart (tho i have seen less powerful rounds not drop the animal)
-Neck (specifically the neck bones)

i believe if the animal goes over a certain bleed rate, it will just faceplant and die a few seconds later (or die before it hits the ground depending on what you hit)

certain rounds against certain animals will drop them without a heart, neck, or brain shot. for instance, polymer-tipped .30-06 against nearly all class 4 animals results in a faceplant if you hit two of any vital organ

The hunting pressure is gone, but I can't seem to get the bull to spawn again. Is his body in the woods somewhere?

yes it tracks normally only blood, but, once i had a animal not worse injured, and the dog stopped trailing blood, instead of that it said, tracking animal and he kept following the trail of that animal very precise, and that moment my dog was set at level 10. (i mostly play it on PS4Pro)
I also have level 20 now, and no issues i see, exept that my HunterMate it's time not changes exept when i enter the map/menu or change item and go back to HunterMate, so i sended a bug request and hope they see it next week.
I think the dogs can do more then we think, till now i like it

the things the dogs can do, as described in the latest stream are:
-track blood tracks
-track animals that were wounded but stopped bleeding at some point (I don't remember if a trait is necessary for them to do this, in any case they don't always do iirc)
-they have a chance to repel predator attacks with the brave trait
-they have a chance to find fresh droppings
-they let you know when you're about to spook an animal

I think I'm not forgetting anything, correct me if I'm wrong
