• use the correct ammo class type (class 4 for whitetail)
• use two shots or less to down it
• don't damage the trophy organ (skull for whitetail)
• hit a vital organ (lungs and/or heart)

It's the same for all animals.

1. use the right weapon/bullet class. All animals have a class ranging from 1-9, same with ammo.
2. Less than 2 shots
3. hit a vital organ
4. don't hit the trophy organ

Bows/crossbow and shotguns can cover classes 1-9 as long as you are carrying the proper ammo and make sure you are using the proper ammo for the animal.

The Stenberg take-down bow only weighs 2 units.

I like the Gandhare rifle from the Sundarpatan Reserve DLC. It covers classes 4-9 and has the highest penetration for any 4-9 weapon. However it can't use a scope and must be reloaded after every shot.

There are solos with larger herds sometimes. There's a few spots on askiy where solo jumpers end up often in my experience, like I had jumpers here like every 5-ish rotations

I personally was doing what ladylegend did where you rotate basically everywhere and don't have exteriors, I usually shot big solos and usually the respawns ended up in that lake lol

Has anyone else had problems trying to hunt ducks or geese in multiplayer? For the past three days in a row, my friends and I have been trying to go duck hunting on several different maps, but the main ones we were using are Revontuli and Salzwiesen. Every time we were together, the birds would not come in. They will spawn and come close, then, for no reason, they will start feeling without any apparent cause, while still remaining,,,,, calm. We have tried with and without dogs, using the E caller or regular calls nothing matters they will just flee and never land or even get close enough to shoot. However while still in the same game if only one of us is there and the other two go hunt across the map, they work just fine no problems. But, as soon as one other person comes in range they just bug out and flee at first sight. We think it might have something to do with the new update, but of course, that's only suspicions we have actually, no idea what's going on. I'm just curious if anyone else is having the same problem or would do more testing on it and see if we could quickly get this fixed before the holiday break. Hey! To give you a more detailed, but still (hopefully) easy to understand explanation on how to set up a grind for whitetail (and many other species!)-

Whitetail spawn in herds, with a set maximum population per herd. Each herd can be thought of as "save slots" for that specific species. So a "herd" of 7 Whitetail deer is actually just 7 slots for the whitetail species. When you harvest a whitetail, that very same whitetail will respawn, but with some changes.

Those changes are as follows-

Weight can move slightly up or down from the specific animal's base weight, meaning it can respawn slightly smaller or larger than before you shot it.

Fur Type can also change, potentially respawning as a rare fur type.

Location (and this one is important!) can change, but only if another herd has an empty "slot". Meaning you need to hunt more than one herd for the deer to (potentially) respawn into another herd. Whether or not that deer will respawn in another herd is entirely random, but with enough patience and persistence, it is possible to brute force a single herd into respawning only as large males.

Females of any species will always respawn as female, and males will always respawn as males, but they can swap places in a herd!

And finally, if you reduce the population of a specific herd to 1, that herd will not respawn until you harvest the last deer. Always keep 2 deer alive in a herd if you want that herd to stay where it is, and repopulate.

So, with all this in mind, here's what you can do to "shape" a herd and make it a Diamond/G1 farm-

Find a location you really like, with a herd of whitetail. Doesn't matter if the herd is quality or not, you can fix that later. The best thing to look for in a hunting area is need zones relatively close to each other, and an ideal shooting angle for you to set up in. Save that herd as your "grind" herd. You can do this with several herds if you like, as well. We will refer to these herds as "Primary".

Then, find herds in areas you don't much care for, ideally with a good buck or two. The more good animals you can find, the better. do not harvest them yet, just make a note of them. We will call those herds "Secondary".

From there, take out the worst deer in your Primary Herd(s), and leave the best deer. Travel to your "secondary" herds, and take out the best deer, making sure to match or exceed the number of bad, Primary deer you harvested.

What this will do, is free up a lot of "slots" in your primary herd, and giving the big deer you shot in your "secondary' herds a possibility to respawn within your primary herd.

That part relies on RNG, but eventually, you can tailor your herds to hold only/mostly large bucks, slowly shifting the subpar animals into your secondary herds.

Not true! Each animal in a map has a unique ID and respawns. Their fur pattern can change, and their max size can shift slightly up or down, but otherwise they remain the same. This is why it's generally beneficial to focus on high level game when hunting; the common theory is "hunting high levels reduces the total level of the species and therefore increases chances of a high level spawning", but it's more like "high level targets have a greater chance to respawn as a higher quality because they're already near the threshold".

A level 1 will never respawn immediately as a level 3, but if you're patient enough it can slowly creep up to it with consecutive lucky respawns. But if a target is already close to it's max level, the amount of time needed for it to reach diamond is, statistically, reduced.

The variation potential of a respawn is max weight minus minimum weight, x15%, so for Whitetail, that means 100kg - 45kg ×15%, or 8.25. If a whitetail you harvest is 75kg, it could respawn anywhere between 83 and 66kg.

Every single animal on a map has a unique ID and retains it on respawn, making it possible to track individual animals by their ID, controlled harvest them and see how they respawn and under what conditions.

How does grinding/farming for a diamond work? Is there a specific way to reset all animals like reloading the game or travelling far enough away from a location?

Yeah pretty much, animals usually respawn as a similar size and trophy score, so if you keep killing the large animals sooner or later one respawns as a diamond

Shoot the males, high level females if they can make diamond. Make sure you have their zones. A respawn will appear after approx 15 IRL minutes, some people speculate whether you need to shoot a certain amount of animals before respawns are triggered, so just focus on shooting as many animals you can. If you shoot an animal that has a solo zone, the zone will disappear and it wil respawn with a new zone elsewhere.

The biggest mistakes I did was that I didn't bother to check every lake (hunting animals while they drink is the way to go) and I ran too close to the zones so the highest level animals spooked. They have the highest level of AI. Make sure to walk slowly without making much noise (three bars) when you are around 190-200 meters away from the zone. Another mistake I used to make is to be too impatient and shoot animals before I had checked the entire lake. Some lakes are too big for every animals to spawn through your bincoluars, I have seen animals "disappear" only 350+ meters away.

Feeders for boars seems to make good money and badgers can be like 1500+ a pop depending on which ones you hit if you can set up a nice spot to pop them back to back

Tripod on lakes in Scotland between 06-10, .300 magnum, start blazing. There are so many red deer in Scotland and you have clear view on multiple zones at once. They make great money, especially since you can take out a dozen each time

YW! I bet you’ll find a nice diamond or two while you’re at it. I had discovered all drink zones on every possible lake on the map except one. Once I got there it had two 8 mythical and one 9 legendary which was a nice diamond, all in one zone. Gotta get them all!

I've seen some talk about issues with geese and ducks in multiplayer but I don't think its connected to blinds. If I remember right, the issue comes down to you two being too close together? Try grabbing different lakes/locatoins
