I've noticed that Piebald mooses tend to double back on their blood trails and it confuses the dogs. I would not be surprised if its on purpose.

Man the quest "the wounded one" seems really horrible made, reindeer bounced straight away and is now impossible to find. Read somewhere u could restart the game and it would be back, i tried, there was a reindeer, killed and harvested it. Nothing happend. So that prob didnt work. Techinically yes you can because it works with steam. I don't have epic games myself but if you copy and paste the game files it should work. Make sure you do it after you install the game. in my personal experience I notice that without a pack whitetail will go into alert/spook at 120-140 meters full sprint but with a medium/large pack goes up to like 220-260 ish

but this varies substantially in animal etc

I'm doing the bear grind on SRP at the top left 5 lakes. I'm over 550 kills into it and I'm getting a decent amount of rare furs (7 so far), but only 2 trolls so far and no dimes. I've checked my exteriors several times and the highest I found was 2 level 8s and a level 7 or 2. I spawned a lot of level 8s yesterday on my rotations but im also spawning tons of 2s, 3s, 4s and even a few level 1s. It just seems odd that my dime rate is so low. But this is my first grind, so I'm new to it all.

but swapping the places of these males is a 50/50 chance so it may not work every single time

Just how the multiplayer works. It’s not based through servers. But each person that makes multiplayer becomes their own “server” so it’s really just a flaw with how multiplayer was implemented. You all could have the best internet ever but if one of your alls pings is slightly high it can just cause multi to not work all together (also Xbox in general has trouble connecting to multiplayer in this game, I know all about it lol)

How does managing down solo zones work?

go to lakes and shoot the animals that are drinking in that time

you have to be there in the tiemframe the animal is scheduled to drink though

which this tells you where you can expect animals to be (for whitetail deer)

if you discover an animals need zone then that means that as long as you havent created a dead zone in the area (bright purple splotch on the map from killing too many animals in the same spot) or havent killed too many animals then the same herd will return to that zone each day (which is marked on your map) at some point within the timeframe of the zone depending on where the herd has to walk from to reach the zone

also when planning where to shoot an animal you will generally want to aim for a vital organ to pass harvest checks and kill animals as fast as possible which include
lungs, liver, heart, neck and brain

most organ diagrams for animals will be very similar across most bipedal animals so this can pretty much go for most animals or you can just check it online on the wiki or in the harvest screen

and the easiest way to visualise where to shoot is either identify the chevron (blue marker) which is where the humerus/scapula are and place your shot behind that joint or you want to identify where the radius is (green marker/leg) and then follow that up into the body and identify your shot that way (following the arrows) and thatll get you a lung shot if you have adequate penetration

you can also of course try and take a neck shot which is legal for antler animals but its alot more difficult to try and pinpoint where the cervical spine is exactly (but it will drop on the spot)

or for animals which dont have a trophy skull you can go for a brain shot if you want and it wont ruin your harvest check

hello all, new to the discord. I have owned cotw since 2017, played a lot then hit that mission in Layton lake to harvest 2 coyotes at night at leviathan lake. Well I couldnt and got fed up after 6 hours of never seeing one. I am back now and after 3 long nights of not seeing tracks or hearing a coyote I'm begging for someone to tell me how to do it. The way I did it was to get the perk where you unlock need zones from the lookout tower, and do that over and over till you find one in the area or close by. Grinding Question - I'm doing my first grind (Te Awaroa). I started to stack diamonds about midway in the grind and now I have 5 diamonds in my shooting zones and 1 in a solo zone. Almost all of remaining solo zones and all of my other herd zones are shot down to 1, 2 and small 3s. I still have a few herd zones with bigger 3s and 4s. Do I just continue to rotate through the remaining shooters? Do I leave the diamonds in place until I see a Great One (hopefully) or do I shoot them at some point? Thanks in advance

Yes your males could of been solo zones or just hopped to another lake in general. If you check your exterior lakes you'll find males you haven't managed down and need to zone swap them back into your main lakes.
