For classes 6-9 I would use the 7mm magnum. Reindeer, red deer and gemsbok are class 6 animals, bears class 7, moose class 8, bison and buffalo class 9.

As for the 10 - fabled animals, thats another story

Fabled Ones are literally just a super-rare version of an animal and the class of the animal itself does not change. So you can use the Ranger for Whitetail and Fallow deer Fabled Ones, and the 7MM for the rest.

Diamonds are the highest score animal you can get in the game (with the exception of a fabled one, of course, but fabled ones only apply to a few species)

You can get every species as a diamond so those are the goal

That and rare fur colors bc you really cant guarantee the next time you'll see somethin like a dilute mule deer, be it a buck or a doe

Lastly, theres SUPER RARES. When someone in the community talks about a super rare, they're talking about a diamond animal with a rare fur coat. Like for example a piebald diamond red deer. Or an albino diamond bighorn.

It is very rare to get a SR, unless ofc u join hacked modded servers which happens a lot to me. Sometimes people cheat and just spawn em in

Early game you will have to use ur eyes. But once u reach lvl 60 you can unlock the disturbed vegetation perk which will show u the fur color as u track

Why few of my pressure zones are like "disseapering" I shot few mooses on medved from a tripod and a bow and the pressures just disappeared sort of after I started playing again and killed like 1 more moose

If your zones disappear after one kill it's a solo. If you're talking about hunting pressure disappearing, the bows have extremely low pressure as far as I know

I shot a moose 2/3 times not vital organs

It was running for a while

I chased it

Then there was a spot it was drinking

Or the pressure zone

After that it disappeared

No blood stains, no foot steps

I searched the whole area many times

Nothing

You probably chased the wrong set of tracks. Examine the blood spatters and ONLY the blood spatters. If you click on something else you may end up chasing the wrong animal.
Next time return to the last blood puddle you found and resume your search from there.
Or get the blood hound 🙂

Return to the center of the hunting pressure, look for the blood, and track it back out again. You will be surprised at how far you have to track sometimes.
That is if you have not re-started the game since the kill.

Actually your on point with that comment. Unfortunately mods do ruin the game. They force our code which ends up causing no end of issues, then those players having those issues come into discord talking about it. Our support team puts so much of their time to tickets where the issues are the results of mods. Hence the main reason we don't talk about mods in here. Most games that have mods work great! Ours does not. 2 worst offenders for wrecking your game is pop scanner and render mod >.<

I feel you that an FOV change wouldn't be a cheat like some of the other things you could alter, but it gets swept up categorically 😦

If you want to raise your immersion though the number one thing I like to do for that is hide all animals clues, control hints, and the HUD. No need to decrease the population after making those developer-supported changes. Hunting gets hard real quick.

The group size won't change unless you change it. If you kill an animal it might respawn in the same herd or somewhere else.

Store is the right place at first, then storage after you get it. 👍 I've heard on console sometimes the DLC doesn't work right at first and you need to wait for the download to finish and maybe restart. If that doesn't do it contact support, but those items should not be locked behind any score

So basically, all species in the game are sorted into classes 1-9. The ammo is then given a range of classes that it can be used on and still pass the harvest check (there are 4 harvest checks that you can look up for more information). Use the proper ammo for the class you are hunting.

This happened to me earlier in the week and it was a steam related issue. First thing to check is your connection/make sure Steam is online. If it's working on your end you probably just need to wait. You should be able to play and resync your save when Steam returns, but it came back in <15m for me and I didn't end up playing without the cloud.

Because of how many different things it could be you'll probably have to contact support unfortunately. If your "local" save is actually on the cloud like OneDrive it can cause issues. You can also quickly check to make sure you aren't using steam on multiple devices somehow, and you could try toggling the cloud sync. You could also verify the integrity of your download through Steam. Good luck.

It depends what kind of animals and environment you want to hunt. Silver Ridge Peaks, Emerald Coast, Revontuli Coast are most popular and I personally recommend them all. Vurhonga Savannah also rates but it's one of the oldest maps and shows its age.

That group of animals are tricky. The way I hunt them . I always spot them, and I only shoot golds. Nothing else. I have had good luck getting diamond doing that way.

I use the night binos to help track at night. It seems the track disappear when u get close to it. So I use the binos which will show the tracks in helping out with tracking.

There should be a different color if u had the animal spotted before shooting it. Also if they're all the same, hit the blood and it will change color.
Tye best tracking color is
Bright green for the animal u are tracking and u Hollywood for non tracking.

If u are having trouble tell the Bright green for active track. Switch it to Hollywood color for active track and white for non there will be a big difference.

In settings go to your tracking colors. It's the second section in it. Hollywood is the second to last color. It's a mix of pink purple. 💗

should i stick to 30 06 or switch to a different gun. im using the .44 winchester for most of my shots. even downed two mooses with that. for longer range though i tend to switch weapons. i do have a class 9 capable third weapon with me so i really only use the 30 60 for class 4-8 long range shots. is there any better calibre for that job ? i feel like the 300 mag might be better but the stats say sth else

On 4 to 8 use what you like. The 300 , and 338 is best for 7 to 9. They'll take out bears,moose, bison a lot quicker. That way u don't spend time tracking and u can get back on another hunt quicker.
One down fall of the 30 06 is the heaviest in the 4 to. 8 oevel.

to sum it up i need to know if theres a calibre that carries energy better over distance than 30 06 at the same class range

when i hunt a bear or a moose i go close and shoot them with the winchester lol

they dont get very far with expanding bullets. you just have to get REALLY close

like under 70 better under 50m

but it doesnt work on range and idk the 30 06 often fails too if its sth like 200-300m and a thick target

The lever action 44 is a beast but on a moose it's not full score. It only goes up to 7 and moose is a 8.

Killed males will respawn as males.
Females will respawn as females.
Generally females are smaller, usually lack trophy organs so cost alot less.
Killing whole herd will remove all need zones of this particular herd and spawn them elsewhere.
So generally better approach to kill only males (more cash / potentially better males spawn in future) and left females (easier to predict next spawn zones as need zone are not changed / relocated).

Definitely you can kill several females from herd, just don't kill all. It's pretty painful locate new need zones spawn places.

Thank you for the reply Kosevich. I didn’t know about the respawning the same gender. Makes sense about the male harvesting in the hope for better respawns. But yes after spending hours finding need zones I would really not want to have to do it all over again even for a few 🙂

I routinely make 250m shots on turkey with the Virant as I don't like to waste time getting closer. I recommend testing it at the range to get a handle on the bullet drop for yourself. It's used on small targets so close misses are to be expected sometimes. Good luck.

Call of the Wild is pretty good optimized as for a game in 2024. Literally it allow you to enable all settings on max / ultra and still hit 165+ FPS even on 2k format.

As a starter player you have acess to 2 maps. Layton Lake and Hirschefelden.
Layton has lots of open areas but also loth of animals with really thick skin (you will not have enough firepower to penetrate Tier 7-8 animals such as mooze / bears)
Hirschefelden is alot more friendly, but also has lots of deep woods, which for a beginner can become a real pain to spot an animal.
So it's up to you to choose your playstyle.

That's actually a good question.
If you don't own any DLC weapon packs you won't be able to hunt those animals, because your weapon skills are too low.
You need to work on riffle mastery or bow mastery either to open access to ammunition with high penetration as do as a proper weapons.

sure the .270 isn’t the best caliber and the .454 only has hollow points so the pen wouldn’t be that great

but, like, 100 expansion on the .454 hollow points will drop a moose with a broadside

I wouldn’t be taking heart shots without polymers for any gun, but lung shots with soft points is honestly the best way to learn how to target vitals
