hi! i’m new to the discord and sort of new to the game (i’ve had it for a few years just never really got into it!) i’m trying to find people around the same level and to help with the types of guns i need for certain animals etc!

you can check the appropriate classes for each caliber by looking at the ammunition in the store, inventory, or inventory wheel. you can also find full lists/guides by searching, or ask people's favorite weapons for certain animals. it might help to mention which DLC you have as it can make a big difference to your weapon selection.

there are a lot of guns that cover classes 4-8, and several that cover 4-9 or 7-9. you usually want to shoot big for the class meaning for example don't take class 4 game with a rifle rated for 2-4 if you can help it.

this means that a typical package to take all nine classes of game consists of four guns: .22 or shotgun for class 1, .223 or .243 or similar for classes 2-3, .270, .308, or similar for class 4-6, and a .300, .338, or 7mm magnum for classes 7-9.

depending which reserve you are on and how you play you don't usually need all this equipped at once, but you'll want to have an assortment like this eventually as you level up.

there are also other options like bows and guns that cover different class ranges, but that's the basic template.

Yeah there are some DLCs that are completely worthless for some people but totally indispensible for others.

Well if you are looking for a total build that can handle anything right out of the gate; I recommend the following, the Virant .22LR, the .243 Ranger, the 7mm Malmer and the .10 Gauge Strandberg Shotgun. This build can handle everything that is not mission specific, from upland game, to ducks to buffalo.

this is a good package. you don't need anything else to have a lot of fun with the game. there are a couple very popular reserves you don't own that Chief mentioned, and a few specialised dlc packs you might like if you do their thing. I love High Tech Hunting for archery, and Ambusher for the e-caller, but not everybody uses those two things.

The Bow Rangefinder predicts where your arrows land based on a laser tagging an animal while the Nightvision can pretty much make night hunting a breeze.

Nightvision Binoculars are a real lifesaver when you are hunting coyotes and bears.

Gators, I would say the .300 Canning Magnum and the .30-06 Eckers.

No. It means an animal was shot there and it died.

@tardy monolith Just fyi, the Hudzik is inferior to the Curman Inline in most respects. But the trade off is the Hudzik is one of three weapons in a very good gun pack while you have to buy the Curman as part of a poorly regarded map dlc.

Well the Curman's advantage is that it can use all Rifle Scopes but the Hudzik is stuck with the Gallieleo.

The Hudzik's advantage is that its second ammo type covers 3-7 while the main ammo type covers 4-8. Curman just covers 4-8.

Yeah but don't make a habit of it. The greater the distance, the greater the chance of missing a vital.

You want to drop an animal instantly to save time.

The faster you kill, the more you kill, fast level up and money.

If base game, 7mm Regent Magnum

Between the .243 Ranger and the 7mm Regent Magnum you pretty much cover Class 2-9.

Regent Magnum with polymer bullets pretty much one shots all deer and bear. Though it struggles a bit with Moose, Elk and Red Deer but it kills em all just the same. Same goes for Bison, one shot to the lung and you just wait for it to die.

I have only played for a couple of weeks now, but I've shot ducks, turkeys, geese, all sitting or swimming around. both with birdshot, with .22 and with arrows.

I always got the correct rating

step one: spot all drink zones
step two: pick +/- 8 zones with easy access to shoot at. It helps if they are nearby each other to catch respawns.
step three: shoot all big males that don't live in these zones and all small males that live in your shooting zones.
step four: keep shooting until you stack up diamonds in your shooting zones and it's all low level animals in the other zones.

this question is very broad so I'm not sure what you mean, but no the tracking system doesn't stop working for me. sometimes the tracks glitch and show the wrong direction on their cone which makes it hard to follow, and animals that run through water can also cause problems, but between me and the bloodhound we find everything.

so you know how the tracks are usually highlighted and glow on the floor?, it just kinda doesnt do that anymore, but if i walk around looking at the floor i can interact with them despite not being able to see them. it still does nothing but it atleast proves there still there

it sounds like you might have accidentally turned off clues by hitting the U key. You can hit that again to see if it helps, or check the setting system->interface->hide all animal clues->off. You can also rebind this hotkey if it bothers you

did you check in the settings or only hit U? There are some other clue settings as well that don't have hotkeys you might want to double check. If your clues disappear mid-session without hitting U or going into the menu you may need to contact #1062059141436297246 to solve it. that sounds kind of annoying, the clues are useful for finding the animals

yes, although some of them aren't quite right. Best to double check it at the range. You can also see what the bullet drop is like beyond that range. I think the 6.5mm is zeroed to 150m even though it says 200m in game for example.

callers still work, animals will come to the zone until the hunting pressure reaches a certain level that deletes the zone. pressure can make animals more alert too. here is a post with more info:

go slower, accept mistakes, understand that it takes a lot of hours to get good you won't be hitting every heart shot overnight. the character is bad at shooting until you get a few perks, same with stealth which makes everything harder. practice at the range on Hirschfelden

rare you have to identify on your own usually, but there is one high level skill Disturbed Vegetation for spotting rare fur types as well. Diamonds are usually max level animals for the species, and there are also some skills to tell you more about animals like the Ambusher skill Spotting Knowledge. Look on epic games what they contain but basically the tents are mobile outposts you can place also there are ground blinds which give you less hunting pressure and cover you. The other dlc has treestands and tripods which also give you less pressure and hide you but they elevate you too

Aryzna .300 or Canning .300. I only use polymer tips in this gun, but I see why softpoints could make sense. You need penetration too though they have a tough hide. You will find males in groups so the semi-automatic can be an upgrade.

It can also be okay to take them out with the 454 Sandberg pistol that everybody gets free, but they are thicker than bison and banteng so it's not as easy with the JHP ammo.

if you don't have access to a .300 I suggest the .338 or the 7mm. The 7mm is also a bit weak for capes but technically legal and will work with good shot placement.
