I'm stuck in the vualez wildlife control. I've managed to kill a blackbear but not a single coyote can I have a bit of help and tips on how to do it?

Have a look for feeding zones and I'd u go after (20mins after use a caller they are more likely if traveling rather then eating or drinking)

This mission requires you to harvest two coyotes in a specific area right? With an optional objective to use the Predator (Jackrabbit) call? Coyotes are the hardest animal to hunt on Layton imo, so be patient. Personally I find them easier to hunt at their feed zones rather than drink time because they are less alert and you get to hunt during the day.

Coyotes spook easily so make sure you are always stealthy. Crouch run at most in their vicinity. Find their zones, bring the caller, mind the wind, and accept they are harder to get than deer.

Not sure if u have the dlc but I use the ambuseher dlc (the electronic caller I set up where they go from feeding zone to somewhere else and make it so can see feeding and where the electronic caller is I creases chance of seeing them they eat around 17 to 24 and 4 to 7 depending on zone

The waypoint on my map is approximately where I put a tripod stand, and the rightmost drink zone (which you also have marked) is for whitetail. I suggest a tent in the area too because it's far from any outposts. It can be a good hotspot I think.

At least one zone in that area should be whitetail. If they aren't at that one they will be in another drink zone near the river delta. Setting up somewhere at the top of there will provide your opportunity.

hey! a question here. Let me explain the situation: Went for a Magpie Goose hunt with 3 of my friends in the Mangrove Coast, Australia DLC, after some trial and error we ended up with 20 decoys and a electronic caller 20m away from the need zone. Then in the other way, we set up 3 layout blinds 50m away(so inbetween us and the decoys/caller we had the need zone). Crocs were at least 200m away and the time was set to 13:30. no tents, no dogs, nothing to disturb the hunt. We went on and did this for 2 IRL hours and only twice did we manage to see geese land for maximum 2 sec. everytime they approached they where already alerted. Whats the issue here??? It was frustrating to say the least

UPDATE TO BLACK BEAR DRINK TIME
Ok so with the pistol packing update (March 12th 2024) Black bear drink time has been changed from 20:00-00:00 to 04:00-08:00 but few things have been done differently...
With this update there was no population reset like normal so in order to get black bears drinking at the new morning time they need to be spawned in after the update on Mar 12th.

To get your bears drinking at the new time you either. 1. Needed to have opened the map for the very first time AFTER the Mar 12th 24' update. 2. Started a new game after the Mar 12th 24' update. 3. You must go around the map and kill all of the bears you want to drink at the new time easiest and quickest way is to hunt them at the old drink time. (20-00) Then go to every possible drink zone location and kill every bear you want to be drinking at the morning time or simply all of them.

This should answer any questions about black bears please use it to show others and use as a answer to black bear drink time update (please turn off the @ if replying to it to show someone)

pretty much the only strat i have, they're way too sneaky, sometimes you get lucky running around and end up spooking them into running. use a shotty for moving rabbits, 22lr for sleep zone rabbits

It can be close but in my experience they never leave the zone (only once they have) I use it on open areas where they go from food to drink so easier to spot a high level one and nice and clear to take down a few if possible

Hello everyone I’m doing a great one grind on TA for fallow and only getting around 4-5 drink zones in the middle creek, anyone know why? Most get 10ish

the shot always goes where you aim with a drop off beyond a certain distance (usually 150m). the crosshairs is always moving though, and some rifles move more than others. It also moves more when you are zoomed in.

the main one is Steady Hands under the rifle tree. Breath Control is also good but you have to get to level 3 for reduced wobble.

depending how you play maybe Move 'n' Shoot under Archery. It reduces wobble while moving, which might come up with handgun shooting.

the other thing I find helps is letting the scope do its thing and taking the shot as the crosshair naturally sweeps over the target. You can activate breath control just after it passes since it usually drags the center back slightly.

As far as I can see, animal calls is pure random event, and it's frequency dependent on species.
For example black bears never calling mates.

Each normal kill (not from a hunting structure or with a bow) results in one level of hunting pressure.
At the same time, each kill removes 0.1 levels of hunting pressure from all prior hunting pressures circles.

As soon as the level of hunting pressure reaches (or perhaps surpasses) 3 in any one spot, any need zone that's touching it will be deleted (the connection of all animals to that need zone area is severed and they are assigned a new need zone in the same home range, most of the time in the vicinity). In the future, new spawns can be assigend to the orphaned need zone area again, though.

So the first full kill will result in hunting pressure of 1, the second in 1.9 (1 added, 0.1 subtracted) the third in 2.8. The fourth kill will delete the need zone as the threshold of 3 is crossed.

Shooting with a bow or from a hunting structure causes reduced hunting pressure: Only 0.25, so 0.15 if we subtract the usual 0.1 as that isn't changed. The reduction is also cumulative, meaning hunting pressure caused by shooting from a hunting structure with a bow will be 0.1 and removed with the very next shot, so it's impossible to erase need zones that way.

Shooting either with a bow or from a hunting structure, it takes about 20 kills to delete a need zone.

Similarly, if you already killed 3 animals, you can squeeze in 1 more animal with reduced hunting pressure without deleting the zone.

As a sucessful cotw content creator, this is very annoying and scary considdering the fact i have a G1 on my map right now, and my coumminity is very exided to see it. does anyone have a clue where my herd of elk may have wandered off to? i was hunting at the upper most lake in The Narrows section of SRP, but have checked all the nearby lakes for new drink zones and have yet to come across them. bit cross because i was herd managing them and now i cannot find them

In my opinion playing in Coop is a huge difference. More kills / more fun.
First of all your partner can spot animals and you can see it as orange highlight. Very easy to find animals.
Second benefit - animals in multiplayer act more calm (flee alot less), sometimes shooting a whole herd will not spook anyone (probably desinc issues).
So basically any map is really profitable in Coop mode.

You can try lakes + tents + hunting stands combination.
It allow you to fast travel between your tents and harvest all animals due to reduced hunting preasure.
For example Cuatro Colinas is pretty easy for hunting Ibex.
But you need some extra cash to prepare your hunting grounds (several tents and tripods...)

It's really up to you to choose reserve you like.
Easiest to find animals on their drinking time.

I made a bad shot on a diamond and it didn’t die. I gave up tracking it and turned off the game. I got back on later hoping it would be in its zone and there is no sign of it. Is there a chance it just moved to a different zone or did it disappear off the map?

If you are quick enough an your diamond really didn't die, it should be in the same herd / need zone you spot him previously. Basically you should quit the game about 5-10 seconds after you realize you screw up your shot.
Most likely in your case it died and you don't find it.

rares are random, shoot and then go back there later to see what respawns

diamonds, shoot all the high levels, leave the low scoring animals, makes the average lower on the map so there is higher chance to spawn high score (diamond) to even it out
