Hi everyone, I came back to the game after many years of not playing. I'm level 26 and the only way of playing I know is running in the woods and killing pretty much anything that I see. Never got a diamond, and I'd like to know if anyone would be interested at helping me to set my tents and giving me tips to be more successfull in my future hunts sessions. Thanks in advance 🙂

Honestly the biggest tip I can give you is continue running around exploring and stuff like that and you'll get a couple of diamonds in no time

Any Max weight track follow it to find out what the animal is

With a fresh map you more than likely have a handful of diamonds running around and since you're new and it's been a long time since you played every map has had a population reset so you have a very good chance of finding goodies

The two most common skills people usually work towards are either disturbed vegetation or pack mule

Disturbed vegetation introduces a new track type that shows the animal’s fur/plumage type upon inspection

Pack mule allows you to carry 20% (I think) more in your inventory, which is an extra 4 points of weight on top of the 20 you normally have

I will put tent in the left side of the lake and it should be 250m or more of the right side zones (red circle).

the 2 left zones will not spawn because of the tent so don’t worry.

shooting as many as possible red deer from those 3 zones (should be 2 males per zone or less) then I will travel to the other tent (yellow circle).

the left 2 zones will spawn, take as many as you can (2 males per zone or less).

And remember to collect your kills

You got the whole map + decoys and callers of all geese and ducks of that map except mallard.

If you kill male red deer, they will always respawn as male red deer back. The more need zone of that animal you have, the faster they will respawn. If you kill to many animals in the same spot, the pressure zone will delete all needs zone in that area. 4 kills without hunt stand with guns, 16 kills with a bow or with a hunt stand. Resting will also make the animals respawn.

Setting up for my first ever GO grind for whitetail. The wide rack. Can someone give me some advice ? Current meta ? Map ? Etc. never done this before. Watched a few YT videos on it but need better direction than what’s out there currently. Any help is much appreciated ! Last time I played was on Layton when the Great One first released. Was a headache, but I see all these people slapping them now.

The most important thing to remember, is that every male has a chance to respawn as a GO. Level, as far as I know, plays no part in GO hunting. People say HM'ing and diamonds brings them faster, but I truly think it appears that way because they aren't hunting their lower levels, and are curating diamonds.
It's been said on a stream before that you should pick up your kills as you make them, as it will encourage quicker respawns of those animals.

I would check out RonMcTube's Revontuli Whitetail Guide - he just posted it yesterday.. so that would be some pretty up to date info.

You could also check out Scarecrow's "AMAZING RACK! Taking The Great One Whitetail With The .45 Rolleston & Herd Management Guide!" video - It's a little older, but I think he has he most WT GO's. I think. So any info he would give is pretty in the know, IMO.

Map is really gonna be based on what you find as easiest map to work on, Pro XCK has detailed maps in (all?) of the YT vids, of drink times/zones, and from what I have seen, updates them fairly regularly.

Above all, though, make it fun for you because the minute it becomes work, or a chore, it absolutely sucks any and all enjoyment right out

So have DLC to buy and things to go through. I was level 60 when I left and owned every gun in the game as well I think I left it at a few hundred thousand so tents and stands shouldn’t be an issue. 😂 it's true! The real grinders have it down to a science. They know exactly the herds/zones they are harvesting, know the fastest route to do a run, and lots of times if Herd Managing, are only killing specific levels to get diamond respawns.. So it really becomes like, a loop, if you will.

New England Mountains is also good (at least in my opinion,) but it may not be for you. It is fairly reminiscent of both Hirschfelden and Layton Lake, which are free starter maps.

If you're looking for big game, I'd turn to Silver Ridge Peaks or Yukon Valley.

If you like hunting birds, I'd turn to the Revontuli Coast.

Vrhonga Savannah is pretty good too if you're looking for something especially new

you basically have a nearly perfect loadout you honestly don't even have to carry the 338 because the 7 mm does the same job just not as good

Yeah the universal setup you can do everything set up is 7 mm 243 and 22 if you are after small game as well

Takes bigger animals out but doesn't do it as fast as the 338 or 300 would

But it's still a better choice less carry space and you get to carry something else

Can you tell my 'spotting' an animal what rating it is - I mean a lot of times i get no trophy rating - it's just a big fat zero

I shoot a deer - its no rating - shoot same type of deer a few minutes later and it's a silver?

That most likely means you're shooting does dear the trophies based off the antlers so if it has no antlers it gives no trophy rating

When you harvest an animal - there's a list of all the animals you harvested - there aren't very many spots for harvests. is there any way to delete all those harvests or only 'overwrite?

I had a lvl 2 red deer with tiny horns i tried taxing it but my game crashed

But yeah I recommend looking up the rares for the species you can hunt on the maps you have because knowing what's rare and what's not is a life saver

I recommend hunting red deer since you already have them they give a decent amount of cash for each one you drop

at 6 the drink time for that animal starts,so then all the herds or animals will come and drink in that period of time,the lower levels come first,then the mid levels if we tack about levels 1-9 and at the last hour ofr so the high levels will show,not guaranteed but from when i play cotw i saw that is like this like 70-85% of the time with all the species in the game
