Tracking/stalking is actually really hard... I can suggest to look at the age of scat, if it reads as 'not long ago' (I forget the exact wording) it's time to crouch-walk with binocs out.
If the scat is 'old' you might as well run.

And even doing that, there's a chance you'll walk along 'some time ago' tracks and -still- stumble on the animal because it stopped at a feed/rest zone. So yeah... It takes luck, not just skill, and keep your binocs out to try and spot it through foliage.

I always had better luck with the ambush strategy: find the need zones, go there at the right time, because then one knows what spot to approach sneakily!

Yes, thats right. Lynx is everywhere. But there are parts of the map that are easy to hunt, like this Lake, and parts that are a pain to hunt, like everywhere else on this map. But checking water at night will always result in sucess.

I love the .454, and luckily you can get the sundberg for free.

Don't fret too much about 'the good ammo', just hunt class 4-6 animals with the regular ammo and I guarantee lung shots will drop those animals dead fast. I got most of my pistol XP having fun deer hunting with the Sundberg,
