Thats my “theory” based on the very few great ones i have had.
50 total kills with no herd managing or care for level, weight or anything of what i killed for my fallow great one. My white tail had a tiny bit of herd managing but then i gave up on it and took around 350 kills. My red deer i stopped counting but definitely more than what i needed for my white tail.
All the youtube theories sound like “trust me bro” or “do your own research” while they have done no actual real research themselves

yeah its why i often take many peoples " research with a pinch of salt " as i myself have killed probably 20 great ones just shooting one kill only then recording what spawned off it

all of my 13 fallow great ones were done this way

quite a few red deer great ones too

what i mainly noticed is animals respawn one up or down a level

most great ones for me came off diamonds or gold respawns. often when loads of max weight animals were respawning

so this is either they just move up from gold or diamond to a great one on respawn. or the males all have a chance but maybe the chance is higher percentage wise based off a trophy score so a gold has higher chance than say a bronze.

or its totally random which i dont believe at all.

as in 20 great ones only shooting single males and watching respawns none of my great ones have come off lower than a gold respawn. with all respawns back. now...some people will claim to have had them off bronzes and so on but how do they know all of their respawns were back ?

its a interesting subject which hopefully wont get solved so its too easy. tbh the teams done well to keep the magic formula hidden for so long.

You're right, but regarding bugs that have been occurring since launch day, I don't believe there's any excuse for that. Another example is the bug where the weapon reload simply doesn't happen when you press the button. I understand a bit of programming, but I believe I could fix that bug in a few minutes of work. So, the impression given is that bug fixes aren't being worked on, but rather DLCs, which we're not obligated to buy, but we continue to have bugs for free

Hell - it took years to figure out how to fix 'StickyShrub' - where it sounds like you're stomping in a shrub even when walking in short grass

And even still, sometimes it crops up when there is new coding added
(though I think its easier to resolve atp becuse the 'new StickyShrub' is probably due to whatever the newest content is, so MUCH less of the code backlog to slog through)

That's what I initially wanted to do, but no matter where I setup originally, either there would be no birds at all or they would all get spooked away. Out of the dozens and dozens of places I tried, only 2 spots managed to get flocks to come in and not get spooked. They still did that whole "kill a few flocks then stop coming in thing" that geese like to do, but when that happened I would just swap to my other setup. Was pretty quick all things considered.

Hello fellow hunters. Quick question about the current community challenge. In the past these challenges had a counter that showed how many kills one had toward contributing. Is it no longer showing that? I've been slaughtering Black Bear (I think it's an eligible predator), but have no idea if I'm contributing. Wish it still showed that counter...🤷🏻‍♂️

The challenge is bugged and doesn't register kills

At least for most people, for some it worked but for most it doesn't

Under the percentage it'll say contribute in order to be eligible in yellow writing, if it doesn't then you contributed and you're good

The ironic thing for me about this challenge is it's called "Protect The Bunnies" and I'm actually on a Whitetail Jackrabbit grind slaughtering the crap out of the bunnies, but the bears are out at the same time so I'm taking them out. But I'm not doing my part to save the bunnies...hundreds have met their doom.

I am. Not that experienced with rabbit hunting so I'm using the feeders. Seems to be working well. However, I'm not sure with rabbits if I'm supposed to take out the females or not. There's 4 of them out of every 5, so I'm shooting both males and females. It's a race to see what shows up first I guess, an Albino or Diamond...🤷🏻‍♂️. Any advice?

that’s what i was doing too, shooting rabbits at the feeders during my blacktail/elk grind

i was shooting any rabbit that showed up, although idk if they can make it as females, maybe tho

I don't think the female jackrabbit can make Diamond, just the male. However, there are some other female rabbit species that do and only make dime, like the mountain hare on Torr.

When I go bird/rabbit hunting, I shoot them all, males + females. Not only do more respawns give chances more rare plumage/fur types, but I have a theory when it comes to respawns so I make sure to fill that quota, so to speak

Ok, good advice. I'll keep shooting all of them. It's actually helping getting my hunter shooting % numbers back up after the plunge it took shooting at the hopping minks/marten on Torr...😏. Those little turds.
