They were all level 4s this morning, and my exteriors were low level 3s and 2s but once i shot through my interiors they alll sunk to 3

Okay, so what you want since your respawns are fighting against dropping further is to essentially open up more "space" in your population. You want a pair of 3s to split into a 2 (exterior) and 4 (interior) at the minimum. To get that split to have a chance of rolling you need to alternate between your interior and exterior locations taking out 3s

there was this one time when i first started playing where i harvested soemthing without realising but i never saved it and that was a long while ago now

If you didn't kill/keep anything from that server you should be mostly safe but its not foolproof. I recommend trying to verify your files through Steam (right click on the game in your library > properties > installed files > verify integrity of game files) to see if that keeps more weird stuff from happening

That's the second really wild bug you've run into in a short time so it feels a bit off
