Every species has a class rating which is essentially how much bullet power is needed to take them down. Whitetail are a class 3 so any bullet/ammo that has 3 in its class range works well for that species with good aim. Moose are a class 8 - that means guns that take down whitetail easy are much less likely to take down a moose with any reliability. You'd need a gun with ammo where class 8 is in its range

Idk how wide a range of information you're trying to gather, but I'm very slowly mapping out sound profiles of various weapons based on species used, to minmax spook radius. So far I've figured out that sound travels further directly in front of you, in about a 45⁰ cone, than it does in your surroundings. The .243 is the quietest rifle rated for anything larger than class 4, and the .45 air rifle has a dead-forward spook radius on Whitetail and Fallow, of about 65m.

Man after picking up a rifle again I just remembered why I dislike it. Teleport to tent, go up on tripod, shoot 2-3 things, teleport to the next location and do the same no thought, no effort, infinite loop. Feel like the fun has just been optimized out of the equation, guns are just too strong.

I typically get a Dime every time I play, but I've been casually HMing several maps at once. They're all simultaneously starting to hit a point where seeing a low scoring gold is rare. My whitetail on Layton average 200+ now, and Blacktail are sitting at a 1/10 dime rate. Nothing comparable to the results a focused effort can bring, like how Info is doing her boars, but having several maps full of quality species is really nice.

remember its always easier to shoot side on! the class of an animal is in the top right of the box when you spot it or look at tracks so just double check you can take it down if ur not sure!
