Hey! I've created a simple webapp for tracking/managing drink zones etc. while hunting for the GO. It lets you count the kills, place various markers and assign notes to the markers. I just wanted a quick and easy way to track which lake I already shot down and which I still have to do and expanded a bit ontop of that.

Speaking of creators, does anyone know if any creator has ever done a deep dive on the mechanics behind Expansion vs Penetration, or how to use Mil-Dots accurately with different scopes?

I've seen content creators make very layman attempts at explaining projectile types but they all seem to do the same "huh looks like this Expansion round didn't pen at this harsh angle but the Pen rounds did, pen is better always" shtick, and the very few videos I see on Mil-Dots seem to focus entirely on using Mil-Dots as a rudimentary rangefinder rather than as a tool to fine-tune long distance shots.

Layton and Hirsch are both excellent maps to learn the basics on, and practice hunting classes 1-9.

The fact that they're free does not diminish their value at all!

I recommend you spend some time on both of those maps and get the basics down pat before you decide on DLC. You can figure out whether you prefer long range hunts, bow hunting, small or large game, heavily wooded areas or open plains, etc, and those things will determine what maps may be best for you later on.

the bloodhound can also be massively noisy and loud so make him a pointer or retreiver also so you can tell him to go far away XD

There are 3 dogs in the game

Bloodhound-Can track any blood from an animal you have shot.

Retriever- Can retrieve any class 1 species

GSP (german shorthaired pointer)- Can find tracks and follow them , or for small game, can flush them.

If you own 2 dogs, once you get one of the dogs primary skills to max level, you can make it do the skill of another dog you own aswell as the primary skill

Instant drops only happen if you double lung, heart shot, head shot or neck shot, but they're all more difficult to pull off.

If you're unsure whether a shot was lethal, look at your map. You'll see purple circular coverages where you shot the animal, this means it died and you made hunting pressure as a result. I bet you killed a lot of animals without realizing it 😆

That's a hunting structure! If you build it, you can get inside it and hunt from. It. If you shoot animals outside of a structure, with a rifle, you will create a "dead zone" after 3 kills, which stops any animal need zones from spawning inside that dead zone of hunting pressure.

If you hunt from inside a structure though, you can safely hunt up to 15 animals without creating a dead zone.

Bows and the Crossbow also generate less pressure, and stack with structure.

Outside of a structure, you can shoot up to 15 animals without creating a dead zone, with a bow. Inside a structure, this doubles to 30 animals.

Bows and crossbows! They're hard to use, and the arrows and bolts are affected a lot by wind and elevation, but if you learn them, nothing is more powerful. Bows will kebab a moose through and through, and the crossbow can take animals as far out as 175m (potentially more with luck), which is a standard rifle range.

For silenced rifles, the .22lr and .45 Air Rifle cover class 1-4, and allow for very quiet hunting. Nether rifle spooks outside of 100-150m or so.

Then there's the Crossbow, that allows for hunting all classes silently up to 175m (accurately), and doesn't spook outside of 100m, possibly less.

They function better than a silencer could ever hope to on a modern hunting rifle firing non-subsonic rounds.

It's harder to take down birds with arrows or standard projectiles, but shotguns within 75m are pretty easy to use on flying birds. You can take large birds like turkey or geese at 150m+ with a .22lr though, because they're massive targets (relatively speaking) and fly slowly. It does take practice though. If you have Salzwiesen Park, it has a clay pigeon shooting range that can help!

The E-Caller's ability to call in 2 species at once isn't what makes it special; it's the ability to call animals in from up to 200m away.

Standard callers have the animal wander right to you, and this will cause them to eventually spook.

The E-Caller never spooks the animal though. You can set it 50m away and have piles of animals loitering around it indefinitely.

The weapons included in the pack are lagniappe, but the caller is what you get the ambusher pack for.

They WILL, but callers aren't like magic hypnotizers. If the animal is busy doing something else it may not go to the caller for a while. They're most effective when an animal is traveling. With patience they will eventually check it out.
