While the idea itself is cool, there's no real useful reason to have this kind of feature in the game. It would be a lot more possible and useful if the game ever had crossplay added but the devs have already said that is something that will take far too much time and work to be worth it (which is true... that is NOT an easy change to add to unreleased games and would cause the games progression to die if they focused on it)
