That's a pretty dangerous setup for world management. I definitely don't recommend it. If you do it, I'd recommend specifying a different -savedir <savedir> than the desktop client is using so your cloud-managed saves are less likely to conflict with your server-local ones.

Alright, well before moving forward, I would take an inventory of all 3 of these spots to see which one has the correct world in terms of the last-modified date and the file size of the <world name>.db file:
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\userdata\<steam user ID>\892970\remote\worlds%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local
then make a manual backup if you haven't already. Then take that version of the pair to your new<savedir>\worlds_localdir.

Ok the -savedir, copying the world there, and starting has done the trick.
Pretty baffling whatever was stopping this from working earlier, but we are good to go now.
Don't know, but when the savedirs are shared, it usually comes down to a copy of the world in the Steam-managed dirs with the same name as the locally-managed dir or a copy made while the client and/or server was running.
My theory is that before I tried to run it as a headless server, I copied it out, it created some random world, and even though the new one had the same name, it kept referring to the old one.

I cannot tell you how to do it as I have little information on Valheim mods. But if you could figure out what mod in your Modpacks list is the one that adds that then Im sure someone here can help.

I think it's one of those 2 that you can add inventory to the NPCs.
It appears from reading the mod's info at thunderstore.io, that the VikingNPC mod might allow you to add items to the NPC's inventory. If so, you should review the options in the mod's config file and also there's another yml file for it in the BepInEx folder, too. You can find the YML file in your BepinEx/VikingNPC/Conversations.yml
If you can't figure it out from those files, you can seek support over at a thread at OdinPlus Discord in Mod Testing, under Settlers.

I have a rather simple question. What's the best mod for being able to access the map only from the cartography table?
alr that problem is fixed but i had to disable conversion size and speed, is there another mod that configs smelters and forges to smelt faster

I'm using the Rustymods version. I like it but it does need some work. The positive is the ability to adjust the spawn rates to a reasonable degree, the ships look great, the mechanics to defeat the ships are fun, the ships will wreck you in seconds so a great challenge, the ships have a great level of loot when you defeat them. You can tame certain ones which allows for workers around your bases. It's pretty good in most respects. The negative is the spawn location generation which is in way too many locations. Pretty sure that's fixable but it's something that all NPC mods seem to have an issue with.
The ships mechanics need more work as they end up crashing easily, double spawning then causing lag issues. We have dev commands so we just 'killall' or 'killenemies' which clears up the lag then we use 'removedrops' to clean up the local area.
You can also set the dialogue which is a lot of fun.

Is there a mod to disable the "mist dispensers" in Mistlands? Once I've beaten the Big Bug I'd want to see a little more of the lands, those smoke bubbles obscure so much..

Thanks! Description to that one is a bit vague - does it clear just the Mistlands "mist" (which is more like smoke, generated from dispenser points in a globe) or does it also clear misty weather?
I don't want misty weather gone, that is very much part of the game's atmosphere. But the smokey "mist" in Mistlands would be nice to be able to clear once you've beaten the bug queen

What mods are there for reducing the time craft stations take to produce items? i.e reducing smelt time from 30s - as well as upping how much coal/metal they can hold? etc
I have Valheim plus, but it seems to conflict with many mods and I'd rather be able to have everything I want, even if it takes 10 mods instead of 1
WackyDB to replace a lot of mods. I changed fuel to wood to not bother with coal 🙂
Smelter and such are known as "conversion pieces" and crafting stations are workbench and such. for faster crafting I use Azu_AAA for everything else WackyDB.

Guys suddenly the backpack inventory appears over the main inventory slots....i cant see the last row of my main inventory now. Tried disabling some mods but it dsnt fix it. Inventory mods m using are, extended player inventory, quick sort stacking, recycle reclaim.
No need. You can run it ahead of time. Just configure it to enable after queen dies via global keys
Hi we play Valheim with some client side mods but we’re all on controller and apparently now the key binds have all changed on controller. Any ideas how to reset to default again?

Down on d-pad now puts weapons on back same as what R3 did before. Activate power has been changed to. Which mod can have caused this?

And what mod causes the dropped resources to sort of stick to the Viking (when all the cells are already filled)? Just walking or running with a bunch of loot bouncing around me 😅. If you ask for something the stuck loot gets picked up right away. On the one hand, you can carry away kicking with your feet, more loot, but on the other hand a little distracting, interferes, but the speed does not seem to reduce.
Maybe because of the mod with auto-picking from chests during crafting?

I have 'tool tweaks' downloaded and durability loss set to 0, and most of my items DON'T lose any, except my blackmetal sword. Any clues?
nvm the mod seems to just stink, instead of disabling durability loss you just get like 800 durability instead of 200 so it seems like they're not breaking. But my blackmetal sword still isn't getting the bonus

Can someone recommend 2-3 QoL mods that have minimal impact on progression? Like Backpack etc. Something that just makes the "everyday" tasks abit easier without being overpowering
No. Unfortunately.
If you are hosting a dedicated server, you could take a look at ServersideQoL, it only needs to be installed on the server. Although if it's overpowering or not depends on the configuration. And you will find better alternatives if you can install mods on the client side.

I just chose on thunderstore, the most downloadable mods (or the most popular), go to the site and read their descriptions and then decide whether I need it or will be unnecessary (greatly affecting the game). Basically installed different building mods. Quiver and Backpack still did not go to me. Backpack even though it looks beautiful (it is a complete replacement for cloaks, made of the same materials, with the same functions + additionally carried kg), with all its logical ..., cloak is still more beautiful.
And the quiver for arrows creates an inconvenience when dying - two tombstones appear next to each other. And arrows must each time to live in it manually.

Is there a client side mod that simply adds more food recipes? We have all this excess food stuff never used. I’ve tried cooking additions, bone apetit and master chef, but neither seems to work client side only

oddly the boat additions and other equally game altering mods do work client side which is odd
we even have recipes for weed etc client side that server does not have nor does everyone on the server, yet it works. i figured some food recipes should exist?
Someone who doesn't have the mods wouldn't be able to see the modded content. Even if it can be actually played, risking issues doesn't seem worth it

I saw ValheimCuisine, but it requires wackymole database mod. Does the wackymole mod change anything on its own? i couldnt find a clear answer to this

So I have a question, With the mod "Plant anything" the ability to scale Trees is an option, However what I am looking for is a Mod that give me the power to adjust the scale of the trees in the world when they are generated and get the feel of the forest more after my liking. You can pick and choose from this set and find the ones you like. They are all designed to work together but you can run them individually as well. ZenRedecorate lets you move stuff around, ZenSign lets you more easily organize your hoard, ZenTargeting lets you target lock onto monsters, ZenCombat gives you a dedicated dodge button, ZenHoverItem lets you view icons of things by just looking at them, and much more. All designed to expand on the vanilla experience, not radically alter the game. Read the descriptions of each one before running them all.

Can someone that use the "AdventureBackpacks" mod give me a little hand? I'm having a problem that makes all the backpacks give me cold immunity, even when i disable the cold immunity effect from the mod, and i don't know why that's happening
Thanks! Im actually an xbox user, that was the main motivation for the mod. You should also check out Jere's expand world mods, some of them also work serverside-only. They are a little harder too use, but they are really powerful.

A smooth running double jump mod.
just press the spacebar a 2nd time during the air and you make a 2nd jump that consumes half as much stamina. perfect for the mistlands

So i installed Marketplace And Server NPCs Revamped mod and now my friend cant connect anymore to me ( he's stuck in an endless waiting screen and nothing gets logged)
we even removed the mod, made new map and now he gets a new error... that the marketplace is missing from his modlist even tho we both dont have it

mod is not present anymore in plugins and in the modmanager is gone too

It sounds like your friend didn't get the mod installed correctly on his game. Or maybe just didn't wait long enough for the game to load it in. Hard to say with the little info you provided, so far.
If you really want to remove it without getting it propertly installed, make sure you and he removes all of it from the Valheim folder and then reverify game files from inside Steam. If you need additional assistance use the info from the mod's web page to contact the mod's author.
So far we checked and no one has market installed or any filed from market. Reinstalled the game. It seems something remained asking for that mod .. maybe in Jotunn (dependency)
It's likely that you missed something still left in the plugins folder. Maybe inside of one of the folders in there. Also, if you're using one of the mod managers like r2modman, thunderstore, or Gale make sure you've removed all of it inside there as well.
Yo, I was wondering if there was a way to keep a separate instance for my modding ventures from regular vanilla, kinda like how it works on elden ring saves or minecraft modpacks
I'm loading mods from thunderstore and it seems to load everything from my vanilla saves, I'm kinda scared that any character I make with modded gear will get screwed when I go back to my regular worlds since it loads from the menu. I know I can handle this with backups, but I'm looking for a workaround because I'm too lazy to do that every time I wanna switch
It's a little unclear what you're doing and want to do. You're taking about your solo game in all cases, right?
You'd like to play solo in the same world with both your modded and unmodded characters, yes?
Which mods does the modded character have? Does he bring in special non-vanilla building pieces? Does he have extra inventory slots and non-vanilla armor and weapons?
You could just create a 2nd character and play him on the same world as long as the world doesn't have any non-vanilla building pieces from the primary character.
As always, it wouldn't hurt to archive a separate backup copy of the world in case you find you need it later.
I want a separate let's say "file" or profile, completely cut off from all my already existing worlds and characters.

Ok, you can do that with a mod manager. I like r2modman but there's a couple others, too.
You just create two seperate 'profiles'. One modded for one character and the other vanilla (or different mods) for the other character. They go in the same mod manager and you can use either profile with either character.
So you just keep it straight in your head which character goes with which profile. You can reference the character's names in the profile names to keep from mixing them up.
And then just select the world you want with each character after starting the profile for that character. You can even name the characters after the world name to avoid mixing them up, if you want.

Are there any texture optimisation / upscaling mods that you guys would reccomend?
There are a couple over at thunderstore.io you can check out. I'm not sure 'recommend' would be the right word here, though. They all seem to have some occasional problems depending on your particular h/w setup, etc. Good luck with it, in any event!
Fair enough. My hardware is pretty good (4070 Super TI, 32gb ddr4, ryzen 5600x), but I have heard rumors that they may cause issues, although not which/what.
If you choose one to try, make sure it's been updated within the last couple weeks, ideally. 🙏
Willybach texture mod currently will not work on current versions how ever they have been beta testing new versions and seems to perform a bit better. playtest has closed since it is being touched up before getting released. easier install etc etc

"use it 100m of a boss alter" is a specific requirement, ExpandWorldPrefabs can do that.
If you just wanna remove the staff altogether then wackysDB. Or to disable spawning with one of the mods that deal with spawning. Or change the troll's damage. I use wackyDB to remove the staff.

I seem to recall something about that mod being in 'early access'. So maybe it's one of the bugs they're still working on.
Nah dont wanna remove it altogether. Our server has a feature where boss heads can be turned in for special currency. But the guys with trollstav have been farming yag super quick with the trolls and wanted to see if there is a quick and easy solution for it

Question for modders, what platform is preferred for uploading mods to, I've seen Valheim mods on Nexusmods and Thunderstore. I've heard the argument be made that Nexusmods is better because they have a comment section on there, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) Thunderstore is/has modloader support? Can someone fill me in on what I need to know? I usually manually install my mods.

Gotta admit r2modman is a very good mod manager though, probably the only one I've ever liked in all my years of modding games.
The vast majority of mods are on thunderstore. Years ago nexus stopped updating their mod loaders included with vortex etc. So either you need to install manually or setup the mod loader correctly and update it.
For many users who don't dig that deep thunderstore 'just works'
I hope we get Steam Workshop or mod.io integration with 1.0 but for now there's only Thunderstore.

Hey valhala warriors! Does anyone have a mod recommendation for building with no structure restrictions? I saw a world seed posted in* the server with a massive lake and i want to build a base in the middle of said lake, but the shore is too far away for me to have a 100% sound structure/bridge.

Yoo boys, Ive been looking at some of the more early game magic options but im really concerned about balancing and keeping the game close to vanilla, any reccomendations?`are there any that are polished enough, that also seamlessly integrate into vanilla?
You could use valheim-raft to build a platform in the sea. There are pier walls and wood you can place anywhere in the water including middle of ocean.
You can also build and go underwater with this mod too...currently only for vehicles but there will be an update to allow expanding underwater using a bounds.
Btw is there a polymorph mod for players + multiplayer compatible? Would be cool to transform into some of these creatures.

Hey everyone. Quick question. 1000 hours into vanilla Valheim and I am about to start my very first modded run. Want to try out Valheim HD and Seasonality. Does anyone know how to configure the Seasonality mod, though? The mod page says you can, but I can not find any info on how to do this in the readme (i.e. change length of seasons). Any help would be appreciated.
Most mods want you to configure them using their .cfg or .yml file options. Those files are often not created until after the first time the mods are run.
The .cfg file will be in the BepInEx config folder and any .yml files can be in there as well as in the plugins folder. You may find them in sub-directory folders in those folders, too.

my AzuAreaRepair, AzuAutoStore, Azucraftyboxes, and build camera CHE all get " never sent version or couldn't due to previous disconnect, disconnecting" with out those I can connect, but id really like to get them to work. Any suggestions?
Try restarting the server.

Sounds like you've either not got the same mods on both server and client. Or they're not loading properly on one or the other.
Check your logs to see if there's errors there that would explain it.
hey. anyone know how to spawn kraken boss from monstrum mod using commands?
You'll need the boss's game prefab name. That's not always easy to get. Sometimes, for a boss that comes in with a certain mod, you can find his prefab name in the mod's instructions on it's mod page or readme file.
Other times, you can guess at part of the prefab name and try and let auto-correct help with putting in the completed prefab name.
And a third option might be to find a mod that lets you list prefab names from the console CLI. I think there may be one or two of those over at thunderstore.io. Not sure about that.

Several mods can increase mob drops. I don't know of any that increase just the meat dropped alone.
You might be able to do it with CreatureLevelLootControl and/or WackysDatabase and/or EpicLoot. And the options in one or another of Zen's mods would be worth looking at, too.
But those all have something of a learning curve and make doing a single world key setting console command to increase resources in general look like a good option.

There are several good mods that add magic to the game. Search over at thunderstore.io for "magic" and check out the ones that come up there.
Just be sure to choose one that's been updated for the current game version by it's author.
Need some help, Been playing valheim for weeks and bepinex and all my mods have been loading without issue, but today i cant get the game to launch out of steam with bepinex. The game launches but the extra terminal window for bepinex does not, and the game doesnt show that its loaded when the loading screen comes up.
I have tried the latest version of bepinex on thunderstore and the latest from github, both have the same issue
Tried deleting everything and starting over, including reinstalling valheim
Launching the game from the valheim.exe works to load bepinex but the -console parameter isnt passed since its not launched through steam
when reinstalling valheim, did you delete the old Valheim folder and then verify the files in steam?
Are you using R2modman, Gale, or ThunderstoreModManager? If so simply try creating a new profile and downloading your mods again. If you're manually installing stuff then that sucks.
Possibly a long shot but has anyone gone through the trouble of putting together/know of a good modpack for a first time modded playthrough? Like generally want QoL, and generally just more stuff more progression, armor, weps, tools, etc (toss me a ping when you reply, I will probably forget I even sent this message)
If you want to confine your search to just pre built 'modpaks', go over to thunderstore.io and select 'modpaks' and then do a search for "RtD" and another for "Relicheim". Both work well.
If you'd like to personalize it, do another search there in the 'mods' section for "Zen" and pick out 7-8 or so custom mods that look like they'd get you where you wanna be.

dissagree, i made all 99% of the mods in the Zenheim modpack, they are all designed to work together and provide a solid QoL basis for people to have a better overall experience. Each modular and can be added/removed at will and mixed with other mods if desired. it's a fantastic place to start if you don't want to mix and match mods and deal with compatibility issues and just want to get the ball rolling with something close to vanilla but much better QoL
Yeah, if the mod pack is just mods by one author of course that's going to lessen the issues. I don't think it devalues what Rianu is saying.

yea I might look into that set, skimming thru, personally never a big fan of stuff that makes the game harder but lot of the other stuff is pretty cool
it's modular and configurable. i like challenge, but you can turn off aspects you don't like. imo mods that make the game "Automated" acutally make the game less fun because the core mechanic of the game is to gather and grind. elminate the grind and ... well, not much game left. but to each their own. turn on and off as you please.
i provide improved tools for organizing your grind, but not eliminate it.
Yea I am a sucker for anything that is like a power gain, I like being OP, I know some people really get into the difficulty side of things tho

but if you like that sort of thing, nothing in my mods prevents that.
i suggest turning off the map though and let the environment be more challenging. ZenMap + ZenCompass is a good balance of struggle vs fairness.

the map stuff you mentioned
turning off the map is a vanilla feature. it's a world modifier. but instead of no map entirely i give you map only at cartograpahy table but only with a limited radius. plus a compass that you can craft to keep your bearings. if you don't like it remove those mods and turn the map back on in vanilla world modifiers settings.
but again.. to me, getting lost, adds excitement. losing your stuff and having to backtrack is part of the thrill ... it slows the game down.. you may find yourself stuck in bronze age a lot longer for example...
but you don't need to use the map and compass mods to use all the other stuff like ZenRedecorate to move your stuff around without destroying it or ZenSign to keep track of where all your stuff is and in which chest.
or ZenTargeting to lock the camera onto monsters 🙂

I assume that since you haven't mentioned "server" you're asking about solo game.
You can change building piece(s) health to whatever you want with WorldEdit mod using the command "object connect health=nnnn" or a variation thereof.
There's a couple of options shown in the dedicated server guilde that comes with the server tool download. You'll have figure out how to set them in your container.
For a regular server installation, you can set those options in the server's exec line in it's start up file. The *save frequency *and the number of saves kept can be set there.

It is possible. It doesn't always go flawlessly. I suspect it works better for those Mac users who get the game from Steam and the mods from thunderstore.io but that's just a guess.

WackyDB increase chop damage to all axes. I did it for the pickaxes too.
PassivePowers is another one, increase the effect of Elder power and make it passive - permanent.

I have Valheim on Steam and my Thunderstore works normally, but a friend has the game on Xbox and Thunderstore tells us game directory could not be found... and searching for the folder manually doesn't register it in Thunderstore and I wouldn't be able to start the game, if anyone has a solution, please send me a private message.

Afaik, there is no way to get mods on the xbox.
An xbox user can join a modded pc host depending on what is installed, and usually it will be a royal mess. But there are a very few mods that are server only, but it's VERY restricted what they can do. (And I'm not up to date on them any longer, but for all practical purposes just assume no mods on xbox and you won't be far off)
Hmm, I know there are no mods on Xbox... What I mean is, Thunderstore can't find the game folder when I try to launch it, and I can't add it manually either, or I must be doing something wrong. In Thunderstore, when I select the game, it gives me the option to Steam or Xbox.

If it's not about xbox, then it would be best to not mention the xbox at all, since that will just cause confusion. You make it sound like you're trying to make the Thunderstore website find the game folder for Valheim on an xbox.
I'm assuming you're talking about the thunderstore mod manager? I've only used r2modman which should be pretty similar, and it just found the Steam valheim folder for me.

ok, well you would select Steam, if you get any issues about folder paths then those are changed in Settings in R2modman/Thunderstore Mod Manager.
Your friend, if they are on Xbox console (like xbox one or something) they can't really use mods themselves.
They would need to install the game on a computer using Xbox Glass or Gamepass or what ever they use to play their games on PC.

I have never actually used the xbox/gamepass version of valheim though it should work the same as the Steam version - basically mods should install the same way.
the mod manager just needs the folders set in the Settings if the game folder can't be found.
like my steam is on D:\Steam so I had to change my path in settings to that for my steam folder
You will still break your game, so you wouldn't fix anything
Try again and read the mod's descriptions in order to read for incompatibilities and last updated dates
Any one here who might be good at modding? My friend and I started a modded playthrough, but the performance is horrid tbh. The game would run fine and then suddenly get like a frame per two seconds for a bit. Works for a bit then breaks again.

You can create or rent a dedicated server and move the world from where ever it is now to the new server. There are various options you can explore for how and where to create the new server.
I would suggest a Youtube search for step by step Valheim tutorials with explanations of how to do that and what the choices are for you.
You'd have to provide a modlist or more details. There are plenty of mods that will wreck your performance like that, but it all varies based on your hardware etc
Forgot to update. A few of the mods got an update and the performance is much much MUCH better now. No more jittering

Hi! i asked the question yesterday in Help, Basically I lost a friend last year and she was playing a loooot of Valheim on dedicated server. I would like to preserve what she build and I was wondering if there is a mod that allows to copy a building? or to make it impossible to destroy (i think wards can do that, but i am looking for something more... permanent?). The first save where she spent most of her time is already gone with a disk failure, i would like to do something now to avoid this issue to happen again.

Is there a way to refresh mod config without restarting the game? Is going to the menu enough, or do you need to quit all the way out?
You could use a config manager to modify configs in game. Not all mods support changing configs at runtime though.
Going back to the main menu generally wouldn't be enough for such mods

if you are actually the host, hosting on your PC etc you won't need it, if 3rd party host dedicated server that is on 24/7 even when your PC is off etc then you will need it too

I have 2 dedicated servers, and its installed on the actual server and staff / admins run the mod so they can use it, because non of us are the host, its a 3rd party, that make sense?

the other one is probably not needed, its Upgrade_World v1.72.0 by JereKuusela and lets you reset things like Sunken Crypts and Frost Caves etc. if no player build items are within a certain range, we usually have 6-10 players on during primetime, so it helps being able to do that, with just 2 you can just explore a bit more
the only other mods I use are a clock one, one that refills torches and build camera mod
I followed @pliant turtle's Steam guide "How to make mods work on Valheim for Mac" to the letter and when I enter "./run_bepinex.sh -console" into the teminal I get an "operation not permitted" message. I even made sure to set Terminal to "Open Using Rosetta" mode. Any ideas?
Note that my Steam library is installed on an external SSD, so it might be some permissions issue on that drive? 🤔
Honestly, now that I think of it, Valheim is such a tiny filesize, I could just uninstall and reinstall it on my local drive and that might be the swiftest solution.

like Sulfur gem gives a chance to fire 2 arrows between 2% and 4%, isn't that super low? if I get a perfect Sulfur on bow, I get 4% chance to fire 2 arrows?

That's how it's designed, you can either tune everything up or try out epic loot if you want things to scale up a bit more

You can use console commands with mods. Many mods add some new console commands.
You'll need to set your launch parameters though your mod manager to include -console
I did that and then did the "/devcommands" in chat to try and be able to use console commands, but only basic commands were there that you can always use
like, I could emote, but no debugmode or fly or goto or any of that
its F5 to open the console thats where commands get entered
do you have an error? many older mods will break the console and all console commands with it

latest version might not mean much if they are a re-upload of an old mod, or haven't been updated in a year or two

Not usually but it depends on your specific circumstances.
Add the SeverDevcommands mod to your game and add yourself to the server's AdminList.txt file. Use the F5 key to open the console. If F5 doesn't work, put -console in your Steam game's launch options. If F5 still doesn't work, you might have an old broken mod on your game. Check your mod's date last updated by their authors. That's on the mod's web page. It should be no more than 5-6 months ago.

I used to feel that way but I have come to like them because they allow for integer movements when building. I view those stairs as construction ladders. 🪜 not for finished use. But also there are mods to change it if you really don’t like it.
As for circular staircases. I agree they are wonky.
I've encountered some mods that are not a simple "plop it in the BepInEx plugins folder" install. I got really excited about PlanBuild, but since I have to install everything manually on Mac, it's a bit confusing what goes where.
In that case read the dependencies. Install all those mods in the plugins folder first.
Then unzip the .zip and put anything in the plugins folder into the plugins folder. Usually within its own folder named whatever the mod is named for easy organization.

Can you be more specific? Can you list all of the things you want to do?
Valheim+ works if you use the grantapher fork, but if you want to add a lot of other mods on top you'll likely run into conflicts. seperate armor slots would be nice. box arranging and crafting stations / building using materials from boxes is most important. auto smelting / processing would be great

For Automation: If performance is a concern it's better to manually add items to the conversion pieces (smelter etc) but you can increase the input size with Smoothbrain-ConversionSizeAndSpeed and use Azumatt-AzuAutoStore to auto-pick up and store.
An alternative that might work well, although I've never used these: Either blacks7ar-LazyVikings or MSchmoecker-ItemHopper.

Im using ValheimRaft, and it seems my config file keeps resetting to default on my server for some reason. Not sure why, but would the fix to this be just setting the .cfg to read only? Or am I missing something.

Updating every mod that has an update is not enough. You need to have specifically checked when each mod was updated by it's author.
Dates older than 5-6 months are suspect of being too old. If you're using r2modman to manage your mods that's pretty easy to do.

This is likely caused by an incorrectly setup BepInEx for Valheim. 5.4.2202 from valheim.thunderstore.io comes preconfigured for Valheim, otherwise you need to edit BepInEx\config\BepInEx.cfg scroll down near the bottom.and change Type = Application to Type = GameObject

When you d/l BepInEx from thunderstore.io with it's r2modman mod manager you can then browse your profile folder and see how it's organized.
Then your Valheim dedicated server folder should basically look the same way after you install BepInEx there.

Been thinking of installing the MistBeGone mod just to see if my FPS improves with mistless Mistlands. Any idea if removing the mist helps out with that? I've noticed that my FPS tanks when I'm near my big Mistlands builds.
It depends on the mod. In the case of PlantEverything here's what the mod's webpage says about that: "Even if not installed on the server and all clients, clients with the mod will still be able to place the additional resources added by the mod."
I really depends on exactly what's causing the lag for your particular situation. Are you playing on a server and does your log show up more when other players are near you? What's the instance count (F2 Info Window) when you get the lag? Are you lagging in Ashlands, too. If I were you, I'd just go ahead and try the MistBeGone mod as it's probably a 50/50 thing right now.
You can try adjusting some of the graphics settings in the game menu, too.
That said, the lag is obviously produced by the massive part count I have in a mistlands build I'm working on. I was thinking maybe removing the mist might restore a few FPS.
I'll just go ahead and try the MBG mod and report back.
Meh, it helped somewhat. Maybe not a ton, but it's marginally better, with a few settings tweaks.
I am kinda surprised by how beautiful the Mistlands looks without the mist. Kind of a shame to cover up such a lovely area with all that stuff.
It ain't Mistlands without Mist, but the Mist doesn't affect higher places

Try version 1.0.2 of the mod. Since that’s more destructive to the mist than the later versions. Since those make the mist conditional based on global keys. Keep in mind though, this might permanently remove the mist from that world after a save.

Does anyone have any tips/ideas on putting together a nomap server with crossplay. Ik I'm limited on mods since they primarily need to be server-side to work for Xbox players. I like the idea of the cartography table mods that disable the map but let you view one AT the table but from what I've seen that wont work for Xbox players
I also thought about using a mod that syncronizes all map data to the server-side map (so everyone's map data matches) and then using something like the NoMapPrinter mod to download/upload maps to a common discord at regular intervals. But that sounds like I'd need to be doing that manually and would like a way to automate that process if I go that route.
Can I play 2 modpacks at the same time? For example, I'm playing on a server with my friends and I wanted to play solo with other mods. Will there be any conflicts if I open the game with another modpack?
You should use a mod manager for that. r2modman at thunderstore.io will let you create two seperate profiles, or more, for different places you play with different mods.

Hey guys i just reinstalled valheim to play with wife. i added some mods to autobuild a castle etc. i have all 4 mods required im watching a video regarding what to do and how etc.
The problem i have is i dont see the item called plantotem so that i can add the materials and have it be automatically build. can someone please DM me or get in a call to show me what i do wrong?

Instead of using the PlanTotem, you can set the PlanBuild config file to the "Direct" build option.
i dont really know how to do that tbh. i useed the mod manager to download these mods. a year or so ago i did everythin manually you know copy paste the files in the right place.

Ok, you've already installed mods on your games. The mod manager is just another mod and installes like all the others. Once installed, you get into your game and type the F1 key to open up the mod manager's wintow. From there it's pretty obvious how to customize the options to your preference.

Yes, change the Direct/Planned option to Direct and you should be able to place the building immediately without having to add the build pieces later.

Are there any mods that let you add, or change the aggression level of tames following you? I think a system like, aggressive (attack everything within range which is default) Neutral (only attack, what attacks me) and Passive (never attack anything) would be really cool and useful.
Does anybody in here know if it's possible to create a completely customized seed, I found one with a really great valley in it. That's surrounded by mountains but it doesn't have really big land masses and I'm trying to do this massive community project, we're being sponsored and everything. Sure that I have a good seed, because we've already started, but I plan on getting the infinity Hammer to move it all over to this new seed if it's possible. If not, I guess I'll have to deal with the one that we have, but I would prefer to be able to have a fully customized one so that I can build it around the lore that we're creating for this world.

I was also using the Jewelheim modpack, so maybe the difficulty was tuned in a way that made them feel useless.

There are very few maintained public facing modpacks. I made one myself but haven't tested it in a few months. The Jewelheim modpacks are the most well maintained and has a larger community of users
Yeah, I dont mind a difficult modpack, but it felt like the difficulty was making you do little to no damage
Jewelcrafting and Epic Loot are super configurable, if you like either one of those mods but not the balance from the modpack you can start fresh and tweak it to your liking

I always turn off random item drops and just get materials, makes it more about enchanting suplementing your gear than farming
I think that is what they are needing, to balance things to their liking. JC is quite a bit more configurable, but perhaps too much for someone wanting to just have powerful enchants out the box.
I like the idea of the customizability of the jewelcrafting mod, but in my experience (Gave up once I got to swamp cuz I was hitting like a wet noodle and getting oneshot)

Use AzuAntiCheat. Set up the whitelist/greylist to handle mods that you wish to enforce on your server or make optional (unless they have their own version checking and they are installed/loading on the server)

Play on your server, admin...and read the logs from the anticheat. If it's not something the anticheat blocks, it's mostly up to you as the admin to handle it.
On a hosted modded server, I have tried entering 3 burial chambers in the black forest. 2 worked, but one of them acts like it will load me in, then it loads me back outside again and says "Blocked". Any ideas on what kinds of mods may affect this and how to fix it? Old google results suggest a texture issue, and the only mod I have that affects textures is Seasons AFAIK? But I don't know why that would affect anything inside burial chambers.
The blocked dungeon may simpley be broken. If you have Admin access and use the ServerDevcommands mod on your game client, you can reset the dungeon by going to the entrance and entering 'resetdungeon' in your game console.
Are you using Creature level & loot control? Or another dungeon resetting mod?

no you can just hold down delete and select building pieces and then just delete them all
I do know how to set a circular area radius and then delete everything in the circle. But I don't know how to add individual items one at a time to a group and then delete the group. It just never came up that I wanted to do that.

Is there any mod that allows moving buildings and terrain modifications between different seeds? I tried using PlanBuild, but since the building is sometimes on uneven terrain, it gets a bit tiring to try and fix everything.
no, there isn't really a way to copy terrain modifications between seeds.
Suggestions would be to create a flat surface to build on before building, disable structure integrity with a mod so builds dont fall apart after placed, and as for Blueprint mods there is InfinityHammer, Blueprint, and PlannedBuild, perhaps one will work better for you.
Some of the RtD mods let you do that themselves. Have you checked for the options in their configs that might do what you want?

One of your other mods might be blocking you? Check to see that they are all recently updated by their authors. And check your logs for any error msgs that might explain it.

The r2modman mod manager lets you export larger mod packs as a file as well as a code. The file handles larger groups of mods.
thunderstore lets me make a file and code too (the pack is too big for codes file it is), its just that discord is not letting me share said file, its too big. so i made a google doc for it
Xbox players can't load mods. The AntiCheat programs requies that players load it as a mod. Therfore, if you use AntiCheat, you can't make it compatabile for Xbox players.

As far as I know, they are very similar. I've never used thunderstore but I've never heard anything bad about it.
No. You can have anti cheat and you can have Xbox players but not both at once.
The best you can do for Xbox players is to remove the AntiCheat and be very careful who you allow into the server and keep a close eye on everything there as well as maintaining regular backups.
I believe there may still be a mod or two that only goes only on the server and allows you to 'monitor' cheat activity. But even those, if they're still out there and working with the current game, they won't prevent cheating only report on it in a log file.

And, to answer your question, yes you can WhiteList players. You add palyers Steam or Xbox ID to the server's "Permitted" list and then all other players are auto banned.
so far, its very user friendly, super simple mod instals, easy access to files and configs. gets the dependencies for you and all. its honestly the best mod manager ive used since the steam workshop

Right, when you use the Permitted list, the players don't need mods or anything. You just have to have their IDs to add to the list. It actually doesn't accomplish much more than a good server password system would, really.

There are quite a few QOL mods you can add to your server that the players don't add to their games. So, Xbox users could benefit from those mods as well. There's a list of those somewhere. I'll take a look and see if I can find it for you.

essentially, the b at the start says to make it bold, size and color are self explanatory you just state the values you want, the things outside the arrows like time of day and current day and IRL time, are the things the modifiers are affecting. /b closes the modifier

Everyone who played on my server tried both jewelcrafting and epic loot and they said that they had more fun with epic loot. They felt jewelcrafting was too grindy. I think you need to try both. Make your own conclusion.

Like I said before, they're both great mods. Neither one interfered with any of my other mods. And they both add magic to the game from the early stages to the end game.
Wizardry is a little more complicated but not in a bad way. MagicPlugin is a little more straight forward, I guess, and flows like the vanilla game.
Both fit into the game with good balance and both add a ton of additional content to the game in a good way. You can't really go wrong with either one.

Nah, it was in regards to the buffs and how they worked. People just didn’t like it as much as EL. They preferred EL buffs. Dunno 🤷♂️ I have since removed both as I find neither to be useful or offer much that Diablo doesn’t do better. Detracts from the core Valheim experience imo so I don’t use either anymore. But to each their own. Hence why I recommend trying both.

I made a glass wall once. When I did that, the way I got it to work was to have at least one side connected to some other material (wood beams). It wasn't a solid panel of glass but it did work.

if not, then check your log console for errors from mods. Try to find the mod that's causing it. If it's slow in vanilla too then it's a hardware / software issue.

I think infinity hammer can, but haven't heard of any gizmo mod that does. There's other mods too that can allow for infinite support placement if you're looking for server wide player ability rather than an admin tool
Some mods require you to be an admin to use their features. I think infinity hammer has that requirement
Yeah, exactly right. I couldn't remember for sure so I had a quick look at the InfinityHanner web page and it shows that it needs you to have Admin access and also wants you to have two other mods also loaded on your game and running with it. Those two are ServerDevcommands and WorldEdit.

You've got 73 mods there and at least 5-6 of them and probably many more are way out of date for the current game. Go through the list and remove any that are over 6 months or so old. You have to go by the date the mod's author last updated them.
hey kinda a long shot but: My friend and I have played valheim up to the mistlands and encountered a problem: He is petrified of bugs. Just genuinely cannot handle bug monsters to the poitn where we've had to stop playing.

You can use my mod YouHaveBeenReplaced to very easy replace all creatures with others right in-game.
Another solution is to use SpawnThat and replace them that way but is much more work.

Yes, that is one of it's primary functions.
It really depends on what's causing the poor performance.

Well, that's not much to go on in terms of finding and fixing the problem properly but you can try turning down the Graphics settings in the game menu.
And adding the BetterNetworking mod to your game. Also, the NoSmokeStayLit mod lets you automatically turn off torches and other light sources at your base during the day. And you should remove any other mods that are causing strain on your game.
That BetterNetworking mod works best when also added to any server you're playing on. But it doesn't work at all in some cases, again depending on what's actually causing the problem.

And check your computer's cooling systems. Fans all running ok? Vents blocked? Do you need to clean out the dust inside the case? Computer doing unnessary background tasks?

Sounds like one of your mods is out of date and broken for the current game version. Check when they were last updated by their author.

You should be fine. One of my servers has 63 and 8 of them are building mods like this one. Doesn't seem to slow it down at all.

Also all my mods add great QoL improvements without deviating from vanilla or accelerating the gameplay loop. They work in single player or coop and with gamepad. I recommend you install the modpack and run without a map.

have a sign for every ore ... for example.
make a wall of commonly used resources. spread them around to the diff areas that make the most sense to you. signs in the kitchen with food items. signs in the forge with metals... signs in the workshop with woodstuffs...etc.
that's the whole point... to track all your stuff. make it easy to find what you are looking for. keep a tally of the amount of everything. works in multiplayer so that others can find things too.

Well, you don't need signs for every time.. just the common ones you access often. as for search prompt. pretty sure that there are mods that do that already. i think one of azus does it if i recall
ok, im gonna take a look....ItemDrawers mod is also good, it shows Icon and quantity of item, very nice mod to use for storage organization
downside of search prompt is you need to know the name of things. as for ItemDrawers, yes .. it's decent but it breaks the game a bit because the capacity of it and the space of it are no longer factors ... in vanilla there is a balance between logistical space / resource cost / and storage. with ItemDrawers you lose all that and end up speeding the gameplay loop.
also if you uninstall ItemDrawers all your storage is nuked..all your treasure gone.

yea i agree on that, storing 9999 is like a bit too much, but overall, the function, look and design is very nicely done
sort of..i wouldn't call it "cheat" but it breaks the logistical aspect of the game because you can store more things into smaller spaces therefor you do not need to build as big a castle to protect it. yo do not need to plan the size of your treassure room... etc. you don't have to plan your hoard anymore. which imo is a key aspect of what makes the game fun.
my ZenSign mod is a balance. it uses vanilla parts so if you remove it nothing is lost. and it uses vanilla storage containres so that the capacities are not lost. you can organize things well and find what you are looking for easily. but it does ask the player to consider how they want to organize things. you could make a warehouse room with a bunch of stuff. I made a dungeon and put a sign in front of each chest.
yea, good point....but its possible to edit that chest quantity from 9999 to more reasonable number like 100-200 🙂

again..don't underestimate the value of using vanilla storage containers.... it really sucks to have a mod fail and then loose all your content. If valheim updates and breaks ItemDrawers you cant play because all your storage will be gone. If ZenSign breaks you can keep playing .. all your stuff is still there.
the signs even gracefully fall back to display the item name on them that they were assigned so they are partially useful
all my mods have backwards compatibility in mind and can be swapped in or out at any time

sure, me too... but i have found that without a map it forces me to go slower and i find that the earlier parts of the game are very fun when i can't just blast through them with a map enabled. The compass keeps me oriented so i dont really get lost. there is also a nice reward to getting the cartogrphay table and having access to a limited map. To each their own. but to me at least i found lowmap to be waaay more fun, it forced me to pay attention to my environment and make paths and sign posts. Which, in a building game, was very enjoyable to me.

Are there any terraforming mods for smoother hills and slopes? I've tried pressing shift + LMB with the hoe and I'm never happy with the hills I end up with. They almost always end up with jaggies and bits of stone showing.

i have LongerDays mod...and i have set day to be 4x time longer than vanilla....usually it works just fine when i am in game...but when i log out, then log in, day suddenly change to night, but clock time remain day, weird issue

you may be able to achieve that with altering the configs on Seasons and adjusting the day/night length for all 4 Seasons.

sure, totally. but if you want to use the latest features and upgrade the game as the devs push new content then it's prob a good idea to consider that custom storage mods can break with an update and you can lose your entire hoard if the mod fails.

You need to use the prefabs names for the mount you want to spawn in. The prefab names are listed here: https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/CookieMilk/MagicalMounts/wiki/2408-5-prefabs/
If you want them to spawn naturally you need to enable that in the config.
If you just want to spawn them in then use the prefab names for the wild variant.
For example spawn mm_horse_white_wild.
Do not use use the mount version aka mm_horse_white_mount because then you cannot dismount.
hello, is the current Epic Loot mod pack working with the current CLLC mod? also what about epic loot addiations? and what version of Valheim do I need, I've noticed epic loot was upgraded to ashlands but I will probably need to downgraded 2-3 patches back.
Epic Loot is updated for the latest game patch. It's just a lot of effort to coordinate getting the logo updated so it's still the Ashlands branding. Not sure what mod pack you are talking about

What this is doing? tod 0 means Time of Day 0. It's a value from 0 to 1. 0.5 is mid day.

"Disable no map" is set to "disabled". Maybe that's what wiped the map?
Although you didn't say exactly, I believe you changed the ServerDevcommancs mod config file for your game profile.
So that changes the profile you start your game with. Not the world. And you can change it back whenever you want with no problems.
And using those autoexec commands in ServerDevcommands mod shouldn't 'wipe your map', if you mean it changed the map display to unexplored.

Can mod like "Valheim fps plus" be used by some player in coop if everyone doesn't use it or does everyone need to have it on server?
Yes. Sometimes. Depends on the mod.
Not sure what happened but I'm using zen mods and some other mods. And I'm on char that's up to Mist, unlocked everything there except for queen's trophy. And I had spinning machine thing that require artisan table and I had that mod that let me move instead of deconstruct stuff and I used cultivator to plant barley stuff before I attempted to move the spinning machine. So I tried to move the machine and I failed, attempted it second time and I realized I was using cultivator to move it instead of hammer and on second failed attempt, somehow it just start unlocking bunch of ashlands stuff along with other stuff I haven't unlocked like blue jute, etc despite me never been there before on this character. And now I got like everything unlocked in my hammer menu somehow. Might be a bug with mods or something. Figure I'd just post here and let folks figure it out. I'm not too worried about it, I can't make those stuff since I don't have mats anyway. edit: Reviewing my video, look like it happen while holding spinning wheel with cultivator and then eat food.
Not sure if I should post video/gif here if it might spoil something for some people.

Yup, just confirmed. does seem to be an issue with holding a piece and eating at the same time. i'll take a look and push an update.

is PlanBuild broken in last patch ? i downloaded one building for testing purpose, put it on the ground, but its all ghost....i tried to all materials, but it says missing requirement....i have activated No Build Cost modifier, just for the testing, but somehow its not working with PlanBuild....anyone else has same problem ?
edit : ok it works, but i had to open mod manager and activate DirectBuild option

most likely the mod would cause issues if used by anyone, it's old and outdated.
For some reason Ive noticed items from my chest are disappearing? Any clue why
Which chest mod(s) are you using? Does this happen on solo game or when on a server with other players? Are the items vanilla or added by mods into the game? Is this happening in all chests everywhere in the game for you?
MultiUserchest and bigger chest, server with people, vanilla items, pretty much most chest yes
There are wards that can keep other players out of your base unless you let them in. And wards can specifically 'lock down' the chests, too.
Well its not a player stealing issue, just me and a friend. Both have noticed it
