Thunderstore is what most use. It works for that. Just have to make sure they update if you update a mod.

There is a log file in your BepInEx folder and another along side your worlds_local folder.
is it the one called "logOutput"?

The log file 'crash reports' don't usually tell you which mods are causing the problem, anyway. You'll do better to check your mod's web pages to see if they were updated for the BogWitch game version.
Most mods not updated by their authors within the last 3 or 4 months may be out of date and broken. So, remove and replace the ones that weren't updated.

Some mods do need to be used by every player specifically if they add things like extra build pieces.
That's right. And some mods like that should be put on the server, too. Then, usually, they will complain and not let players join the server without them, which you'll want the mod to do, if you don't want other players to accidently destroy your buildings by just logging on and visiting them. 😱
Exactly, server hosters need to supply a mod pack in situations like that so all players can join without issues. Preferably with the configured config files. Mostly they sync but not always i believe but not completely sure

Just go into settings and show dependency strings. No typing. Just copy and paste.

What is the possibility of taking the animations exclusive to angels and shadows in lost scrolls and applying them to the player 👀 I'm surprised at the lack of animation mods for Valheim and that one has some pretty sweet ones

Lost scrolls is a mod. For Valheim.
Combat animations, mostly. Although there's mods like Norse Demigods and warfare to spice up 2 handers, it gets stale, the same repetitive attacks
Anyone can get the same assets so I see no problem with that.
The problem with animation mods is that they're not compatible with each other if they change the vanilla animations.
Combat Overhaul, biome lords, lost scrolls are nice additions
Yeah. They'd probably have to be added as special attacks, similar to how they're incorporated into that mod. I know nothing of creating mods for Valheim. So not something I can undertake, unfortunately.

RtdMMO is an overhaul in its own right. But some things just couldn't stick with me
They look to use player models. But looking through configs,, they also have special attacks
Aha ok, well it's extremely easy to replace animations.
But you replace the 4 animations you have for attack, then it is just bland eventually anyway 🫠 I'd hope to add special modifier keys to use them or the like

I've been developing my sound design and music skills for games in the past year,
and i'm on a streak of creating redesigns for many types of games out there.
In this gameplay i'm sharing there are two types of sounds:
Foley Recording : Used for loots, ammunition, weapons and everything in the drop menue.
Ambience and Environment : used for forest sounds, animals, trees, grass and muddy footsteps
Music is a choir composition I did with my own sampled Church Choir library.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone here had any insight on particular mod's (or modpacks) that would allow for some more challenging playthroughs. Some of the thoughts our group have had are things like map is only filled out using a cartography table, with a compass used for navigation. Portals can only be set in certain points (town square). The objective is a slower pace of play, and an appreciation of the journey, not necessarily rushing through each Biome. To that point anything that allows for more building/crafting/gathering options in each Biome would be interesting as well. Any other tips or mods to help with something in this style are absolutely appreciated!

@umbral idol Upgrade_World v1.64.0 by JereKuusela has commands to fully reset your dungeons, if there is no player item nearby, won't reset if a player item is less than 2 outside zones away or to say it easier within 120-160m roughly of the dungeon, you can also force reset which will delete all player changes near the dungeon

Does anyone know if there is a valheim mod like there is for terraria that tells you what mod items are from in their item tooltip? I'd love to know what mod certain things are from and most mods' thunderstore pages don't really give much info or screenshots
@brazen trench Ok, I tested the PlanBuild server blueprints saves. Once you actually get it to do the 'save to server', using the 'Standing Blueprint Rune' piece or the 'Blueprint Rune Library' piece, it puts the blueprint file in the server's ...BepInEx > config > Planbuild > blueprints folder.
I think you'll need to check the PlanBuild mods .cfg file and set it to enable server saves. You can see the default blueprints folder on the server there, too.

For some reason workbenches with no upgrades are set to crafting station level 3.. A fresh character has them at level 1 like they should be. None of my mods say they do this.. Could it be bugged on my character?

Do you mean solo game? Server? Look in your logs and see if there's an error msg.? If so, what.

New mods will work with your old world. Won't hurt to do a special save, though. And only load one or two mods at a time then test them before loading others.

Yeah playing on pc. The game actually runs properly on Xbox but when I go to pc with or without mods I get that error
I've never seen that error before but it sure looks like a broken or out-of-date mod. If you get it without mods, maybe you need to completely delete the whole game or server installation and install it fresh. (that's not as big a deal as it sounds, since it won't affect your world or character saves).

PlanBuild is working fine for me. Although, one or two of it's terrain tool aren't fixed yet.

Jotunn is a library collection of sub-routines that mod developers can use instead of having to code the same routines over and over again themselves. It's needed to be downloaded as a dependency for many, many mods. It usually gets downloaded automatically with the mod but not always.

Yes, it loads into the BepInEx plugins folder just as other mods do. It is often server side as well as player client side depending on what other mods are used by the server.

Most likely, yes. But it's better to let the mods load jotunn than you doing it for them. It's possible that one or another mod might need a slightly older version of Jotunn than the other mods do. So let the mods themselves load Jotunn. You can also check the individual mod's web pages to see what dependencies they list with specific Jotunn versons likely being among them.
i don't use a mod manager so if i download from the link you give me it will not intsal jotunn on it's own no ?

I use r2modman to manage my server's mods even though I then need to manually copy/paste the mods from the r2modman profile to the server's plugins folder.

I don't know which mod manager you had problems with but I"ve never had any problems with r2modman. I do take the time to explore it and become familiar with how it works.

it usually doesn't matter which version you choose, except if you want to play with an older game version. We try to keep everything backwards compatible, so mods don't break with a newer Jotunn version
So going with the latest version (or a recent updated one) is advised, even if a mod lists an older version

most likely there is item configs yes, setting the crafting requirements to something you cant obtain like "swordcheat" or the crafting station level to a level that cant be reached would make them uncraftable.

I don't generally mess with the actual game mechanics (as far as new weapons etc)
By default all mods that uses item, creature, piece manager etc come with settings to disable it.
If the author for some reason disabled configs then you can still use WackysDatabase to do it.
You can also just manually disable Warfare if you only want to use Monstrum etc.

I don't think its a hard one so Monstrum will very likely still work on its own.
Hey gamers, does anybody have a recommendation for a serverhost that supports thunderstore mods? We'll be a group of 10 people playing 
G-PORTAL is what I've had most success with but it seems to be depending on where you live.
I would suggest to only pay for a day or two to get a feel and then full month.

After installing the "Equipment and Quick Slots" mod, materials are not automatically getting pick-up... Have to press E again.

I would recommend ExtraSlots, I switched to it. With ExtraSlotsCustomSlots possibly too if you have any of the mods it adds support for.
You have your auto-pickup hotkey likely bound to the same key as on of the quick slots. Change one or the other, auto-pickup being a vanilla game setting

Anyone got a recommendation for something of a perk type system? I was trying to get the newest Valheim Level System, limited to level 15 and the exp to scale to be similar to reaching level 100 in epicmmosystem. But I can't get them to function together 👀 I'm not exactly a coder.

also perfect placement cant rotate locally in Y.. it can do X and Z, but intentionally doesn't do Y. So its basically a bit crap despite everyone using it thinking it is the best gizmo.
One conflicts with build camera button (CTRL), other I'm having issues with it not letting me move after a rotation. Can't find a way to change the mod keybind to stop it conflicting with BC.

when i place the materials in the totem, the walls, roofs and such are placed, however are destroyed due to the instability (gravity). how do you work around that, especially for non-vanilla huge blueprints..?
The PlanBuild .cfg config file allows you to enable infinite health. Turn that option on. If the bldg. still collapses with that turned on you may have to paste the bldg. in using InfinityHammer and it's infinite health option. Personally, I've never had to do that myself. But it's an option none the less.

That would bepend on the individual settings but it would be best if both server and game were set the same. You can try it with it set on your game and if that doesn't work set it on the server and restart it.

I've got quality 10 (upgrade lv10) rag trousers from a monster drop from the EpicLoot mod, is this a bug?
I don't know about mods for that but you can turn off the boss raids using F5 console devcommands, if that would help.

There are world 'keys' that are automatically set when someone kills a boss. You can manually un-set those using F5 console devcommands or with options in the start .bat file, if you want.
Also, there is a world key that controls whether there are 'player based raids' or not. You can control that the same way as well. This is in the guide that comes with the server when you download it.

hey guys, can any of you guide me to a mod where backpacks take utility slot AND give inventory slots? as well as mods which give healing potions, preferably ones with configurable CD. Wizardry has healing pots but no CD settings

Well... You have two options here really.
Either keep it strictly vanilla and use my ServerControl/DiscordControl to admin but then people can come in with any character, any mods and go nuts so keep that in mind.
Use mods and then at min use ServerCharacter + AntiCheat + manual admin for those pesky people that use CheatEngine etc.
I have several mods that helps with admin like YouAreBeingWatched where you can spectate and check people inventory etc.
I’ll probably do a mod pack and just find an easy way to ensure people install the pack lol

Anyone use all the Odin mods and play solo? When going into the swamp even with my bronze gear upgraded etc when fighting 4 star mobs how do i not get 1 shot or surrounded, even without using sprint i can bob and weave but point blank doesnt work and swapping weapons constantly makes me slow

Anyone have a way for me to debug or find conflicts for two specific things, a mod not allowing me to use evade (I just disabled 2 that shouldnt have anything to do with it but were throwing errors during play so I may have found it) the other is Sausage recipe not working but shows up in VNEI (tin cauldron has no option to cook it but i have the required items)

I was using the draw distance mod and accidentally set the draw distance config to 995 and now when I load up the game modded it keeps the configuration which is so reasource intensive I can't change it cause the menu won't load

If a player doesn't have this mod installed, they will ignore the lock entirely and open the door normally, so the only way this works on public servers is if mod lists are enforced. I think there are mods that do that.

ah I see, all good, you have some other mod doing evasion stuff I think. I would suggest creating a profile with just the one mod to test, but I assume it will work to press crouch and roll to evade.
I have another issue 2 separate recipes (sausages and Iron arrow) recipes are in VNEI but not actually on the specified crafting table (or any other table)

If you use Therzies mods (Warfare, Monstrum, etc) get EpicLoot_Therzie. That will add basically those mods loot to working with EL. Also get Bounties mod. Adds a LOT of fun with Epic Loot.

Didn't use to be the case which was really frustrating since you had to build your base around this enchanting table pretty much once it was placed and upgraded

I make the output of bronze double since I hate the early game grinding. If Iron grinding it too much there's ways to increase the drop rates of that, or I think someone made a mod that outputs more from the smelter itself. The two mods are incompatible with each other.
Jewelcrafting however can be configured to play exactly like Epic Loot, there are additional configuration yml's that can be added.
Removing spawn nodes of gems, setting drops to be socketed equipment, or changing gem powers to more random values is possible.
They're much too similar, I don't know why you would need both at the same time. Try them both out, see which one you like better. Both mods have huge freedom for configuration.
Ive used both separately. I like EpicLoot more though. Its still somewhat grindy tho since I set half the drops to be materials and half to be items. Trying to enchant gear is grindy lol. Fun tho. Maybe tonight ill just set it back to all items.
There's a setting to increase drops chances that can fix that
But I also use mods that add new monsters and CLLC. For some reason human npc characters barely make a sound when they run up on you so it aint easy

Holy Geez. I setup a mod list with those RtD mods. BF tier mobs or higher on the starter island slinging fast spells. Run pretty fast too. (In meadows)
Meadows mobs from RtD have 25-30 health, they just target players very well so you have to fight like a true Viking. Run you die, fight you probably live. 😁
Hey guys, looking for some help with some modded building. I got a mod to allow some more rotation (PerfectPlacement), since I wanted 64 degree roof pieces (kind of an inverted 26 roof piece, for a steeper roof then the 45). All was going fine until I needed to do an inner piece. I can't just seem to do rotations on two different axis' to get the desired effect, and while I could eyeball it, it still doesn't properly line up. It either ends up being TOO steep or TOO tall. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this?

I believe it will work with your current world, although you may want to replace some of the existing portals.
The mod hasn't been specifically updated for the current BogWitch version of the game but that may be because it didn't need to be. Just watch for any errors the first few times you use it. And make sure you have backups of your world.
You'll need it on the server and all players for multiplayer.
So in Multiplayer, if one of the players doesn't have it, will they just keep using the same vanilla portal style?

Seems like the "roofing" mode doesn't work, or I'm not using it correctly. I press the key to change modes, and it either says nothing, or that its disabling roofing mode, but either way nothing changes.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with any 'roofing' mode. I assume that's from the PerfectPlacement mod. Maybe someone else in here can help with that.
It's in the comfy gizmo mode, it claims it will offset some axis by 45 degrees, which is pretty much exactly what I need, but it jsut doesn't work. PerfectPlacement was disabled. It's in the comfy gizmo config, and on their web page.

Check the ComfyGizmo config options. It looks like the 'Roof Mode' is disabled by default, as are the other modes.

Well, it has the y-axis rotation. I think it's more just a 3D geometry issue that doesn't allow the roof piece to match.
I loaded up the Gizmo Reloaded mod and it does what you want to the roof pieces. It's by using the Ctrl key to rotate what it refers to as the 'x' axis.

with comfygizmo I had to rebind my x axis rotation to something else as l-shift was trying to scale the piece (i assume from another mod), i used r-alt
You're right. That was the problem I was having trying to get ComfyGizmo to work. I changed the keybind to RightShift and it worked fine.

Very cool! I made a completely flat roof with the thatched roof piece and then put a stone floor tile on top of them and made a neat stone roof that way.
Great for a fortress, guard tower, or castle. It looks great from the outside and just a little wonky from the inside but worth it for sure. 😄

Last time i had that mod installed no ores dropped anything (even reinstalled the game on a different drive and used a different mod pack (modpack curated by Odinplus) it used Drop That) and still ores were not dropping.

I think people dont realize that modpacks are often made for a "server" and may be missing mods or configs. That is why it's best to make your own modpack or ask others if they know of modpacks that are just made for "anyone" to use.
It's why I always keep trying to convince people to not use modpacks
I fail to see how playing for 100 hours and you had to use 95 of those into changing the settings to suit YOUR playstyle is in anyway way fun or efficient
If those modpacks were made by the same author then it makes slightly more sense, because said author is using their own mods and it's to be expected that they all work together.
But almost all modpacks are custom, and they are very easily are out of date
You're right though, modpacks tend to have a mix of mods, sometimes even broken mods due to the creator of the modpack's experience or rather lack of. They are often just forgotten, left on the site, and outdated. There is lots of reasons why modpacks aren't the best thing to install unless for a server you play on.
There is a few, like the Jewelheim modpacks are usually kept updated and working and created for anyone to use. However, it's not like there is a tag for "this modpack isn't made for just my server" tag so word of mouth is the only way to help anyone know they work.
I agree with you that just installing mods you want, making sure those work, and then doing the configs yourself is the best way. Most the time you can hit up the mod discords for help with configs.
Good thing is most mods you can just remove and be totally fine or change for something else. Might get weird if they modify terrain or have things that generate in the world (like new caves)

It could be any number of outdated mods, most likely it will be some older mod I think that hasnt been updated in the last 3-4 months.

TLDR: Modpaks! Hmm...
I've been doing some thinking the last few days about mod packs. There's definitely two sides to that modpak issue.
On the one hand, if you go into it thinking that you're going to get a great bunch of mods all at once in a modpak in one easy swoop. And it'll be just the way you want the mods to change the game, you're likely to be disappointed. So, there's that.
Oh the other hand, if you choose carefully and get a modpak with a bunch of mods that somebody has put together for public consumption (not just his own server) and he's taken the time to customize and balance the various mod configs, there is a chance you will get what you want the easy way. Just make sure you choose one that's up to date and regularly supported by it's author. Some of them have their own discord for support.
And, even if the modpak doesn't make the game exactly what you want, you can just delete one or another of the mods in the pak and/or change an option or three in some of the config files or add another mod or two later to eventually get it customized to your taste.
If you know what you're doing and you choose carefully, a modpak can work well for you. So, yeah, two sides to that issue,.

You can use InfinityHammer to load in a blueprint.
Make a new folder in your config folder called blueprints, put all blueprints in there.
In the game you do hammer_blueprint nameofblueprintfile
i made the folder and put the files in but im not seeing a blueprints option on the modded hammer

I dont know of any mods that work on vanilla servers, it usually requires you install bepinex on the server thus turning it into a "Modded server".
There are a couple of mods that aren't required by the client, but 99% of mods are required by the client to have them installed, if required on a server also it's to sync configurations to the clients with the mod.

all good man, yes, WardIsLove is a client side mod, the server overrides the clients config when installed there.
Unfortunately there is only a couple of mods that xbox players can use, but I do hope they change how mods are installed after they leave EA. games like Deeprock use a pretty cool way to share mods that works on all platforms.

Does anyone already have problems with duplication of items? Like you drop a tree and already have another by low, or a copper mine inside the other?
I have seen it happen without mods, however if it's "every" tree or ore node, then it does point to a mod.
Leviathan had more than 10 inside each other, we deleted it and within seconds it came back and started to spawn one inside the other again, there are places with more than 12 thousand instances, they are duplicate trees
It happens with jewelcraft crystals too, and we're thinking maybe the problem lies with them.
But they are in some areas
There was some tree respawn mod that caused it for us on a server, it caused rocks and other things to spawn without checks. I dont recall the name.
I dont think it would be that, however the respawn mod we had, after removing it the things were still spawned, so idk.
I guess it's possible to jack up a world by respawning things too often maybe or doing some command to regen the world too often.
I really dont know, but I have seen the things spawning inside of other things on vanilla, I just cant say that is the issue here cause it sounds like a mod effecting regen.
It definitely happens if the server has errors because then it might generate the same zone multiple times.
yeah, I could see that being the case, regening the same area cause other mods are throwing errors for what ever reason.
If that is the case finding any mods throwing errors on the server is first, reducing the amount or removing any that dont require being on the server. Certainly dont regen any area's until that is done.

I too have experienced duplicating things. Sometimes rocks, sometimes locations. Or even like chests within a dungeon, but not the whole dungeon.
Duplicate is probably caused by Upgrade World or similar reset when there is a player nearby.
Sort of desync. Server removes something but the client insists it's still there.
But if you get triple or more then there is probably some error.

You mean like announce a 5-minute warning for the Maintenance and then follow that with a Linux command to close the server comm port?
If you mean Server Characters, I'm not sure if it provides a console command for that.

I have it announce already, but I can't be guaranteed that others are logging out, but if ServerChar has a command for maintenance mode, then I could be assured others aren't in the server, then maintenance mode has a timer iirc to turn itself off.
If your chron job closed the comm port the players, if any didn't log out, would be disconnected and the maint. could proceed assured of no players active on the server.

The Linux command is simple. There are several. Google is your friend. A rental server is a problem, though. It would depend on what kind of access and control the hosting company normally gives it's customers.

Ah, where's the fun in that? The cron job is basically just a series of Linux commands, anyway. Isn't it? I've never poked around too much in it with Valheim.

Yeah, I can relate to that. Creating a Linux OS cron job to schedule things being scheduled with the Valheim 'CronJob' mod is a bit much.

It really depends on how far into the weeds you wanna get. There are mods and modpaks to suit just about everyone's idea of how much fun you wanna add to the game.
A search over at thunderstore.io will bring up quite a bunch of possibilities.
Just choose mods or modpaks recently updated by their authors. Like within the last 3 months or so. 🙂

They are but it depends a lot on the individual configurations of both mods. That's one advantage of going with a modpak. You also get the config settings done by the author and his/her ideas of 'balance', etc. That way, you don't have to figure out how to set it up yourself.

Apparently from what I remember it was after I add the Cronjob and there was an error in the settings, but I removed the added settings and the logic would have to stop
We have some of your mods, including Crowjob, upgrade word... I did a test and on a new map the problem apparently no longer happens
but a few seasons ago we noticed strange things happening, for example in a boar spawn there were 30 boars, some other duplications, but they were few, but now there are, for example, leviatans one inside the other, about 20 or 30, when we delete in a few seconds it comes back and starts to spawn inside each other again... it's very strange

It's always recommended to do changes offline though.

Jewelcrafting is one of the most configurable mods there is I think, though that part can be overwhelming for many. Out the box it can be a bit "risk reward" but if wanting to dive into it you can setup the mod exactly how you want. If wanting EL style loot drops, it can be done. Gem formation spawns can be removed, it's impressive.
Epicloot provides a more loot-grab style system that may feel a bit overpowered out the box, though using other mods like cllc it does help to balance it. It adds the whole bounty stuff, that well, can extend gameplay.
JC also has a few addons, crystallights, soulcatcher, crystalarrows, and more. It's API is pretty easy for authors to create their own gems, enchants, items, and what not.
So content wise, Jewelcrafting is a better option?

Depends entirely on the connections between players. I play in a group of about 8 and we've only ever really experienced lag in Ashlands.

Mod request: an extra slot for food (eat four foods) but the trade off is all food degrades twice as fast.
Edit: also, an optional limiter, that only lets you eat up to two of one type of food (yellow, red, white & blue) so you can't have like 500hp

All are unlocked by finding different resources in each biome as you progress through the game.

If you have just rtdmagic it’s only vanilla recipes. If you install rtdmonstrum the recipes will auto update to custom ones. Vnei is a good mod to find what you’re missing

You know there's a difference between Admin commands and devcommands, right? You can give the Xbox user access to Admin commands only by adding his Xbox ID to the server's adminlist.txt file. The Xbox player's ID will be in your F2 info window when he/she is on the server.

I bought a crap laptop from 2020 just to host my games like valheim and the portability I get stuck somewhere so now Ill soon be running a real server so I can finally use the marketplace mod 🙂 32gb for it is arriving soon. Like 500$ laptop vs paying like 70$ a month for a linux vps with 32gb of ram in less than 8 months it's more profitable to have the laptop

Any mod suggestions that will slow down server progression? The time between our bonemass kill and our Modder kill is 3x shorter than from Elder -> Bonemass. We are playing on Hard Combat, More Raids, CLLC + nomap/noportal and scarce Jewelcrafting (gems are available only from mob drops). We got extremely (UN)lucky with our spawn island being a mega continend with everything but ashlands

You most definitely don't need such a powerful VPS for Valheim's server hosting. The server isn't doing the rendering, it only needs 2-4 GB of RAM

I now want to install mods for a solo play but i can't find how and if i can turn those mods off for when i go and play on my party's dedicated server.
Having separate profiles in the mod manager is the fastest way, then you can just shut the game off, click a few buttons and hop back in. Do you use thunderstore or r2modman?

There are many other linux stuff I want for home lab purposes and dev but I also wanted the freedom to run a game server for myself from time to time to unload load from my desktop. Just got the 32gb. Apache2/ruby/node.js/mariadb will pretty much always be running

How does the load order for Valheim mods need to be setup, is there any general consensus or rule of thumb i need to follow when ordering mods?
End users have no control over mod load order. Load order is handled by BepInEx and the currently installed plugins and patchers if they desire to influence it.
BepInEx uses Harmony which allows multiple plugins to inject changes into the same areas of vanilla code without necessarily conflicting. Load order is usually only needed in environments where mods replace vanilla game files.

I'm not sure it's still compatible with the current game version. But I suspect it is ok. And I don't think there's any other options.
Anyway, test it on a backup copy of your world to make sure there's no errors or problems there.

Guys, any tips on multiplayer Valheim? Whenever we play with 3 people the lag and server (de)sync issue's are crazy. I'm running the dedicated server locally with 1Gbit up/down internet and low latency, and on a 13th gen i5 with 64gb ram so i can't imagine the hardware would be the issue

Try using only the BetterNetworking mod on the server PC and all players. I know it's old but it still works. And it's helped others with similar problems. Mods for valheim have to be downloaded to the client for every player wishing to use them. If you have a dedicated server many mods will sync configurations to players when they connect, but otherwise very few are only server side. Just depends. Many mods will have installation instructions in their mod page or readme.

Thanks. I tried both "BetterNetworking" and the "Networking" mod, but the performance in Ashlands is just crazy with 3 players. Only the player that loads in first in the area can play it decently. For the rest of the players the enemies are just lagging and teleporting all over the place. I think that's also the biggest downside for me in Valheim. I love the game, but especially multiplayer is a hell
There's also ReturnToSender and NetworkTweaks you could try.
First, probably lust looking at the code and tweaking what is there ie. adjust damage and health numbers. After that, figuring out how to add another star to a creature.
That sort of stuff can be done with existing mods, wacky's or even cllc can be used to do those sort of things to vanilla creatures.
if wanting to do a custom creature you will want to start with ripping the game and setting up a code project to load your custom creature.

Does anyone know of any server side only mods that allow for better configuration of build restrictions.
The only major public server side mods are created by Jere, possibly expand world prefabs has what you need
lol, anyone who has ever bothered to make a modpack did it becasue thats what they prefer, or they are running it on a server where others like/tolerate it too, so it kinda goes without saying that our own modpack is always Teh BeSt MODpACk EvAr!

Hi, are mods be integrated on to the world or are they loaded through your pc
at the game cafe I'm at the pc is reset every time so I have to reinstall val every time I hop on
so I'm always loading up my world from the cloud

that sounds painful, every time you use the pc there you have to install steam and download valheim? I mean the same could be done with mods, downloading R2modman you could create yourself a modpack so you just download that each time also.

thankfully the pc already has steam and the internet is quick so valheim takes like 30 secs to download since its so small
well, you arent running a server on a cafe computer so that shouldnt reset. the person running the server usually installs bepinex and the mods on the server.
So as long as clients have the mods they can connect.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about a dedicated server, but yeah, for just a client hosting a game all others require the mods also.

I do html and c# edits and mods for space engineers. I would like to update the ValWeed mod. The items show up in game as there code names and not there display, So like item_hyprid_joint... I'm assuming this may be do to some time of language localization files that is out pf date, corrupt, or improperly configured. Do y'all thank i mite have the knowledge the fix this or would i need to study up more on unity. I haven't done any research into valheim modding. What do i need to open and edit .dll mod file. Can i just use VS code, or notepad++, or is there some special modding tools for unity and valheim.

No, sure don't and ive never worried about the localizations files in my se mods. if im redoing a mod i normally just delete them. I asuming i could just delete the localization for valweed and change the item names to what i want directly in the code.
That's typically what happens when the mod doesn't have localization and the user play in non English.
Either way, I saw no GitHub and for license you need to ask the author for permission it said on Nexus.
So not sure how you're going to update it without the source.
It was just a question and I haven't looked further or try to mod anything. I was just curios what tools and knowledge was needed. I would never try and update or remake a public mod with out getting the permission from the author.
You cant edit a .dll mod? does it have to be compiled from the source code?

As long as the clients have the required mods that are installed on the server your good to go.
but how do i install mods on a server? i meant like when i create a new world with the start server option
with me having mods from r2modman
if your running the server locally directly from you game then don't worry about that, your system is the server.

You can modify troll behaviour to a certain extent in either CLLC (Creature Level & Loot Control) or with Wacky's Database mod. Those may not suit your purpose but I don't think you'll find any others that are likely to do exactly what you want.
When you make the mod profile it can be shared via a file or code that your friend just imports or paste the code and it will give them the same profile.
if you update or change the profile then just send them a new code and replace the old one with the new one
That's really good advice. And the profile code sent to other players also gives them the mod config settings, too.
For dedicated servers, when your running the game on a different system then your playing on, that's always running. That system has to have its own profile. I only run the mods on the server side that are required by the server. I use r2mod man on my server to manage that profile and keep it up to date. Then i have thunderstore mod man on the clients and i keep that profile that has all the mods and i configure and keep that up to date so the clients dont have to do anything but import the new profile once a week and play.

TravelingHaldor works with EpicLoot, has a config to edit his trade list. Though it's not really an alternative to better trader as it's a custom trader.
So me and my friend have used the planbuild mod to add our structures into one world together but when we upload our .dB and .fwl files the world reverts our changes back to normal. All building and terrain changes are gone.
I've already moved the world saves from steam cloud to local
Sharing the world files between each other and launching the world locally without the mods works fine for us. The only issue is when we try to upload it to the server.
Anyone have a solution for us? Been at it for a couple hours and can't figure out what the issue is.

So, the where has the world with the PlanBuild buildings pasted been saved? On your own game worlds? On an in-game server that had you both on at the same time? Or on a server with both of you on it? In any event, was the world then shut down properly so that the buildings were saved to it's files on shutdown?
And, then when youu copied the world's two files (.db and .fwl) to the server, were they copied to the right server folder so that the server would try to load the world with the saved buildings and not an earlier or different copy of the world without them?
we both have saved the same .db and .fwl files of the planbuild world locally to test if it works on each others devices WITHOUT the mods and it does for both of us under "disk(C:)/Users/(mypc)/appdata/locallow/irongate/valheim/worlds_local
i have access to friends tcadmin and see that they have added the .db and .fwl to the servers "worlds_local" folder.
the files have been saving correctly and ive been sending the correct files as well (just modified recently to be sure)
im the one who has pasted all of the buildings and made the changes, saved it. sent the .db and .fwl files to him, it launches fine for him locally. but when added to the server all the changes are gone, back to normal.
its a server we've used from a different friend (2) for some years. friend (1) wiped the server of all data, added the world files to the servers "worlds_local", we load in and all buildings and terrain changes are gone.
friend (1) is usually the one who messes with the servers end. very sorry if theres any confusion.
Ok, if the world files your copying do have the buildijng and terrain updates then clearly the server isn't getting the updated world files to load for you.
Most likely you're copying them to the wrong worlds_local folder for the server. Or maybe forgetting to restart the server.
If you can't get it to work, another option would be to load the PlanBuild mod on the server so that both of you can get on the server world and paste in your buildings there.

There should be config options for those settings, make sure to reload the game after making them as they probably don't update live.
@shy timber I just found your "FireSpreads" mod and love the idea. However, it had a conflict with some other mods, and I narrowed it down to this:
If I make a new Thunderstore profile and add just these three mods (with their dependencies), FireSpreads does not work and I see lots of errors in the log:

That kind of depends on what you're thinking of doing with it. Would you use it on your solo world or on a server?
Building in dungeons, for example, is usually not a good idea unless you really know what you're doing.
And building around the start stones often annoys other players.

the dungeons lie above the worlds so when building in them I'm sure you can glitch out and fall through, and if your health isn't above one hundred you goin to land potentially in a random place in the world and die. its for my server.

Both of those mods require reading a wiki and writing custom bits of files to work unless you can get someeone else to do it for you
