Anyone run into this issue? I cant use any dev commands..

That's an old issue caused by mods not updated for Ashlands, likely an adenthorn mod

Stupid question, but I just came back to Valheim after a year, updated everything, grabbed Build Camera from Nexus mods, followed the Belphin link and downloaded that. Place it in the directory and I don't see a console pop up when starting valheim and the mod doesn't operate in game. Is there a step that I am missing?
You should have the -console option in your Steam launch options. It's in your Steam client when you right click on the game and choose Properties.
You need the console argument to enable the in-game F5 console, but you don't need it to see the bepinex console window.
If you want the BepInEx console, the settings are in the BepInEx.cfg file found in BepInEx/config folder.
ahh ok, ya the bepinex window isn't even popping up when the game loads, like it used to.
I'll have to see whats going on tonight.
Easiest to just reinstall it or you can enable it again in its config file.
I didn't realize i had to enable it in the config, last time i used belpin i just put it in the steam directory as directed and the mods worked. this time... not so much.
I might have been too soon after an update possibly. We will see!
Is there any mod that helps with terrain flattening? not sure if my world is bugged or something but there's a patch that just refuses to flatten
There are several mods that would help with such a terrain leveling problem. Do a search at thunderstore.io for "terrain" and also be aware that mods like InfinityHammer can do that as well.
Did you lower or raise the terrain to the limit?
didn't know there was a limit but shouldn't have reached it, tried to lower a patch of dirty like half a meter
Are you lowering it with the pick or the hoe?
Because you can only lower or raise a small amount with the hoe's level tool, lowering more than that requres you to use the pickaxe
been strictly using the hoe, haven't gotten my hands on a pickaxe yet, I'll try that once i get my hands on it
Yeah, once you get the first pickaxe just whack the high spot, it will probably go a little too deep, so just use the hoe's level tool again and it should flatten right out
anyone got a bit to help with a few server issues? for example upon first load all my recipes require metal bars even a "club"

also Smoothbrain - Blacksmithing. Updated 5 days ago.... causing a error something about "sequence contains no matching element."
i understand this. the main "professions" mod for this entire thing was last updated... 6 months ago, but this is so far the only "profession" out of the 8 or so of tehm to not work and they have all been updated at different times and values.
i read something about "Harmonylib" in that red context. went to github for teh mod and no such lib exists there either

without this mod "blacksmithing by smoothbrain" everything works
it would be nice to be able to use this but as you can see it breaks the game atm and makes things weird like no new character creation and weird recipes to craft ingame

Is there any such mod that exists or could be created so that trophies matched star kills? So if you killed a 1 star troll it would drop the greenish coloured head, or even the reddish one for a two star?
Same for any other creatures that had different colours/styles based on their star values.
Just curious or putting the idea out there 🙂
I've seen ideas about armour improvements based on this too so it could be an epic project for anyone versed in mods.
(The example was basically that you would use those such trophies listed above to improve your blue base troll armour. So the reddish two star troll trophy mixed with the previous armour and a bunch of hide would give you a reddish version of the set with improved stats)

hey guys, i got some problems with EquipmentandQuickslots mod by Randyknapp, is there any way i can get back equipment while the mod isnt working? or if its updated after
It is updated, did you download the latest 2.1.14?
You could roll back your game to the pre bogwitch build, open an old character save with the equipment, move it to a chest, then go back to the latest game version and load up the world with the chest. Or you could just use cheats to spawn in the missing gear if you remember what it was
Or install the correct version 😅
Probably still need to load an old backup if the character/world was saved while the plugin was broken and not loaded.
it is the 2.1.14 and it's not showing, but yeah, might roll back to pre build
If you send me your log file I can help you look for errors bepienx/logoutput.log. But also try restoring a backup in case your data was deleted somewhere along the way

I have a mod called Explorer that i also had installed before i downloaded r2modman. Before there was like a menu in the settings where i could adjust the exploration range which is not there anymore. Is there a speparate Mod or was it just removed?

that helped alot, although i was trying to ask a different question. The Discovery Radius that can be configurated to get a higher range at dissolving the like mist of unexplored terrain.
That mod is updated on nexus, you can download it form there and import it into r2modman form the settings page
You'll have to update it manually like that though
or i can use the one that i just found. Although i dont completely understand how to edit the file if u dont mind explaining
Launch the game once with the mod installed, then in r2modman, on the left hand pane, go down to Config editor
or just install ConfigurationManager v1.0.20 by shudnal and you can edit it in-game by pressing F1

I'm wondering if an issue our server keeps having is an issue for others as well?
Whenever we throw honey, jotun puffs, magecaps, bukeperries, blueberries,, cloud berries, raspberries, carrots, onions and red/yellow mushrooms out of our inventory, they pop back into it automatically. When I turn auto-pickup off, they magically float next to my viking's head. Is anyone else experiencing this?
These are, coincidentally, also the items we can place with the serving tray, and it was never an issue before the Bog Witch patch.
This also happens with all the items I've tested from the serving tray.
KG Marketplace question.. Whenever someone buys something in the marketplace it goes to the "mail" someone then can duplicate the recieved item. How can I stop money or items going through the mail and only recieve in the marketplace like it used to?
anyone know how to tweak droprate on epicloot mod ? we are in ashlands and got 1 weapon drop in the last 3 days
In the main config file under bepinex\configs for the mod there's a few settings you can tweak. Balance - Items To Materials Drop Ratio if set to 1 you get items drop all the time, anything less you get partial materials to drop. Then Global Drop Rate Modifier - if you want more drops increase this, try 2

Anyone using Mod PlanBuild? It doenst work by me.. i tried everything, is it just outdated? i had the mod tools ingame, but they didnt work
PlanBuild is broken for the Bog Witch game version. It needs to be updated by the author.

ah, god damn, I've been sitting here for 4 hours, really desperate as to why it didn't work, because I also had the mod tools in the game, with the hammer and the runestone, but I couldn't interact with them
I just wanted a tool with which I could copy-paste blueprints of structures into my world and then farm the resources for them and build a cool base
You can still copy paste buildings, but Infinity Hammer doesn't enforce resource use like PlanBuild does

The mobs on my dedicated server are not giving EpicMMO XP, but if I load a local server, with the same mods and config file, they do. Any direction on things to check? Same version of the game as well.
I had been building in creative mode with debugmode, fly, etc, then making a blueprint, placing it in my main world and building it with farmed resources, but alas, we will have to wait for Planbuild to be updated

I'm not entirely sure what you think InfinityHammer can't do that PlanBuild could do. With InfinityHammer, you can make a .blueprint of an entire building or an entire Area. Then you can paste that .blueprint back in when and where ever you want.
The only tricky part is that you need to understand that whatever you've placed 'on your hammer', either single piece, entire building, or selected area is what you'll be saving as a .blueprint.

Yeah, IF is a great tool for building, but it's more of a creative mode tool and not a roleplaying mod. PlanBuild was nice because it let you play the game more or less normally, collecting resources and feeding them into your blueprint.
Hopefully, the author will be able to get it updated soon.
With IF, I like to build modules (wall section, door, window, etc) and then copy paste them to make more complex builds
like I'll make one roof frame, 1 row of roof tiles, and them copy paste that to fill out the whole roof
It's a great time saver for making fences, too. 🙂
I just figured out the zooping thing today, being able to place a 5x7 stone foundation in a few clicks is great. I haven't tried zooping the fences yet

Someone is taking care of Project Auga? Because I don't understand why the UI is so ugly. They don't even use the official artwork like this one in the loading screens.

I have 160 mods installed, it takes a long time to generate a world and start playing, what could cause this error?

Does it happen every time you load the world, or just your first load since the BW update?
@rich oasisIt happens from the first load when I create a new world, it takes a long time to enter the world to be able to play
It should go a lot faster the next time you load in
I don't know if they are normal for the game, or a broken mod, but they are just warnings, not major errors, you can probably ignore them

they install with r2modman or tmm, however, most are created for a specific server and may lack any configuration, I would suggest making your own, maybe use the Bog Witch Update tag at the top.
never search most downloads, just search updated and usually you wont find yourself with broken mods 👍🏻
(if they are broken, being updated recently usually means someone is still alive behind the wheel of the mod)

Does anyone have an <up-to-date> mod that eliminates the building restrictions? As in it makes all the build pieces placed - blue? I was enjoying an error with the no rain damage mod that made everything blue, but they just patched it and a lil section of roof fell down 😦

Install r2modman or Thunderstore mod manager from thunderstore.
Run the mod manager and select Valheim (not valheim server) and set as default
At the Profile Selection screen click Create new and enter any profile name. Select the profile and you will see "Online" or "Get mods" on the left. Search for updated/newer mods and smack the start modded button to play.

That can be caused by mismatched game versions or mismatched mod version. This is a new server you're just starting up? You said you get the error with thunderstore mod manager? Maybe that's because those mods in thunderstore are new and the ones on the server are older?
PlanBuild appears to be fixed and seems to be working fine. Not throwing any errors and everything I've tested works.
If I install a mod that adds decorative build pieces...and then remove that mod...what happens? Like if there is an update to the game that breaks the mod.
When you load your world with the mod absent it will gracefully detect it and discard that data. Your modded pieces will be gone. Upon saving the world again, that data will be permanent removed from the world.
So either decorate with the understanding that a game update may delete all of it, or after a game update wait until the mod is updated.
There are some exceptions to this. If the mod merely makes vanilla prefabs buildable, those pieces should remain in the world but will no longer be buildable. PlantEverything, PotteryBarn, More Vanilla Build Prefabs, Better Creative, etc.

Sometimes you have to scroll down to the bottom of that window to see the problem version.

Thunderstore can only run the game version you've got downloaded from Steam. Thunderstore can't control the game version.
I can't tell from that. You have to have the BepInEx folder and it's files from the download folder in the same folder with the game executable file, valheim.exe

hello i downloaded a lot of mods to play with but for some reason it didnt work for me so i removed all the files again. now everytime i start valheim i get an orange or grey screen with black borders. i cant see anything i have tried uninstalling and installing the game multiple times it never works anyone that can help
Delete the ...common\Valheim folder and re-install it from Steam.
Same thing on the server. BepInEx folder and files goes in the same folder as the server's executable file, valheim_server.exe

Go to your Steam library, find the Valheim game, right click, choose Properties and browse files to see where it is on your PC. Tell Steam to reverify the files.

Read this post carefully:

Do all that step by step carefully and it will work.
Do you have ValheimPlus on the server? If yes then it's better to remove it or remove all other mods. They don't work together. And you can remove DisplayBepinexInfo from the server too.

I don't know if it's possible to make it work cause different mods would cause different conflicts with V+. Usually people use one or the the other but not both. I've never used v+ if you need a replacement there's a list of mods.

no i removed all the mod files because it didnt work and now the entire game is broke
so you can uninstall the game in Steam, and then remove any files that are left, then install valheim again.
i have deleted all the files that i could possibly find anywhere. then reinstalled the game and yet nothing has changed
What's the last time when the game worked fine, and what has changed since then?
If your OS is not broken and steam is not broken, then valheim should work if you start it in steam without mods.
i played a few months ago where everything worked fine. i just recently got the itch to play again and tought it would be fun with mods. i might have missed something some file or whatever but i dont know and i dont know how to navigate trough all the folders to find what could be the problem and i dont know what the problem could be

i used nexus mods. that told me to download bepinex for almost every mod. and as the video i watched showed i just put it in next to the other valheim files
like when u click browse files on valheim properties right in there next to the other files

Very few valheim mods are up to date on Nexus, mostly texture HD mods and such, but everything else is on Thunderstore and most people use r2modman for valheim. It will install Bepinex automatically. I don't know if nexus works like that I don't use it.
oh ok i just searched valheim mods and i found nexus mods wich i have used for other games clearly that was a mistake

so after i downloaded the mods i opened the game without fail but in front of every clickable thing it said %menustart for example and i couldnt create new worlds or new people and i couldnt go into a already made world. but after i removed all the mods again it wnet just orange screne everytime i opened the game
The solution should be simple - go to steam and uninstall valheim.
Then check the folder where valheim was installed in my case here c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim
you can check if valheim folder is empty if not then you can delete it. And go to steam and install valheim again. It should work. After that you can try r2modman and install mods.
Before this check valheim beta it should say none if you want the regular current version.
the file is gone when i uninstall the game. and when i reinstall it nothing has changed. and the beta says none. so i have no clue whats wrong and why it wont be fixed by these solutions
Usually that is the case, there is old stuff still in the valheim folder

Download it, unzip it, run it. Select game, create profile, explore online tab for updated mods that you want, install them, and click start modded
download in small batches so you can test if the mods work.
remove if they do not. Check last updated times, read mod pages (website button), and any information on the mods before installing.

Willybach's HD mod has been updated. So do I use his terrain textures, or Badger's? It's not clear what order to install them.

"outdated" as in not built or supported with the current version of valheim.
Where are you seeing that? It might just mean there are no more updates not that it's up to date. You really have to check the last update date on the mod's web page.
A question more than anything, is there a mod (or a config I'm just missing) that lets you use portals to travel to any other portal that doesn't conflict/fail to load with Valheim plus?

Bit of a pain, but you could roll back the game and mods, load up a backup and convert to vanilla storage piles

You'd have to load a backup of your save, one from the old game version

I forget if you can do it from the game or if you have to manually rename files

The author of that mod is active, you can report any issue to them on the github (or Margmas in Jotunn discord)
If you go to manage saves, you should see a bunch of auto backups, you can pick them by date and restore the backup

the mod is working for the current version, make sure Jotunn is updated. Otherwise it's probably a mod conflict

I'm having an issue when I made a modpack, after loading into a world the sky is contantly dark and stormy looking. Does anyone have an idea what mod this could be? Also when I summon Eikthyr or any other boss, the sky goes bright and turns to normal daytime

And it spits alot of these. I have seen the log file go from 10M to 30M in less than 5 mins because of so many of these. What it also does when this occurs, is chew up RAM. I can sit and watch the errors happen and at the same time, RAM jumps by many 100s of MB and even GBs. This ram is never released though, so what happens is as the errors occur, the RAM is used up to the point of being 100% used and the server process kills itself and will sometimes reboot the box itself. This happens regardless if there is 1 person playing or 5.
And little about the server. It is an i9-14500K with Western Digital Black M.2 SSDs, and 32GB of RAM. So there is no shortage of horsepower. I know that the error may not be in ExpandWorld but another mod that it referencing it.
I can list the mods here, but it would be a wall-o-text since there are about 112 of them. My modpack is listed on Thunderstore as IR_Valheim by VikingHillbillys.
Any direction would be appreciated. 🙂

I have redacted there SteamID for privacy. I am running AntiCheat so the mods they are running are the same mods as everyone else and they are the only one showing this behavior.
Any quick fix for a mod config simply resetting it's own values back to default? ValheimRaft is resetting the config on me and I don't know how to get it to stop.
Upload your config to the server to match your settings. There's also ConfigWatcher.
Turns out it's the newest version of that particular mod that was the problem. Rolled back, works great
the newest valheimraft seems to indeed have some issues, and owner is 2 weeks not available (he said on git)

Hey. Does anyone know how to remove aggro on specific animals? I have this mod "land animals" and getting annyoned by capybaras, deer and moose attacking and hunting me, like they're some predators.

If you're going to use PlanBuild you need MMHOOK.
If you don't use PlanBuild then remove MMHOOK.

To get access to all terrain modification features make a hoe.
For BluePrint stuff its a hammer icon in the build menu.

You could start your trouble shooting with disabling your 'Season' mods to see if that's the problem.
If that's not it, try disabling any mods that modify player attributes or skills.
they need to make something that check for stuff like this and tells you what mod is no good lol

No, that's the only one I've ever used. Maybe someone else in here will have more advice to offer once they have a chance to get on here.
If you don't already use r2modman to manage your server mods, this might be a good time to start using that so you can disable/enable them in groups for trouble shooting. It makes it a lot quicker and easier.

Why am i suddently having issues setting Server Characters up on a new server? It is allowing me to connect with a fresh character only, as usual, but it doesn't seem to be storing the character data to the server. Upon logging out with my fresh character, I am then unable to relog back in with that same character

Can you go into your Manage Saves game start screen and change characters to be saved as Local? That might help.

You mean the RP Chat mod, I think. If so, it was updated just after the new game version released so I'm pretty sure it's up to date and working.
Check your log files to see if you are you getting error msgs when you try to load it into the game.
Talking about the Valheim Positional audio mod, where you get Proximity voice chat. not sure if its still operational cant get it to work through mumble. Please do let me know if you know any better alternatives.
Oh, ok. That mod hasn't been updated in over a year. I don't think there's any other mod that can feed Valhem data through Mumble.
But, check your log files to see if you are you getting error msgs when you try to load it into the game.

and we also had issue that sometimes you die and just get a black screen and you cant do anything just alt + f4
and it would throw errors about saving skills similar to yours, but not the same
But I also had valkyrie start disabled
and reenabled the start and disabled seasons mostly because of that guy having issues switching seasons
so not sure what fixed it
this was happening when you tried saving the game and when people try saving the game or quitting the game 😄
which I guess also happens when you die
so I guess that was seasons as well for me

Check your mods. One or another of them is out of date or broken. See that they're all updated within the last 2 weeks or so.
If you're using nexus mods, don't. They don't work well for Valheim. Use thunderstore.io and get it's r2modman to help manage all your mods.

I looks like you have an EpicLoot mod that hasn't been updated for the BogWitch game version. One that is made by AllTheHeims. Maybe one of his that provides a Magic Plugin? Needs to be removed and/or replaced.

Had to disable VikingsNPC again. No red or yellow errors but whenever the mod is active my FPS tanks so hard. All the log shows is "vis 1 set to something" or whatever and apparently some viking missing a helmet.

You've got an old or busted mod or two in there someplace. Specifically, if you're using MountUP, make sure you get the one updated 2 weeks ago not the ones updated 2 or 3 years ago.
And Comfy Gizmo is gonna throw errors with PlanBuild. I don't know if they're important error msgs or not but you can avoid them by switching to GizmoReloaded by Tyrenheim unless this new patch today broke that, too.
And you're getting 'Season' msgs from one of your mods that has to do with seasons somehow. Are you running with one called "NoSeasonalRestrictions"? I never heard of that one.
Also you can try disabling the MMhook patcher on the server. I think the PlanBuild copy on the server doesn't need it.

I keep falling through the floor when i get near my build and this comes up
I never heard of falling through the floor before. But that error msg means that one of your mods is broken and needs an update from the mod author.
it was a fish (pike=fish2) that i cloned with infinity hammer.
everytime i entered the zone/shard where my build was it would boot me out of the zone and make my character bug through the floor.
i had to keep porting myself out of freefall, then fly into the area and try to delete the thing before it booted me.
as soon as i deleted that fish, my game settled down.
Wow! Some of those fish are really dangerous! And I thought the Serpents were bad... 😵💫

I too had a lot of performance issues with Vulkan, it seems it's very specific to what gpus it works good with, I have only heard of one or two who it increased performance, the larger majority seem to have poor performance using it.
So it's possible that in turning it off you do have better performance.
hey, I've tried modding a few times now on my own, but I could never get it, can someone please help me? like get on a call or something and show me the ropes once more, I had it down pretty well manually months ago, but I reset my PC inbetween, that ended up breaking the mods, so, uh, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
adding mods manually is often what hurts more than helps, unless it's a server I typically would suggest just using r2modman to install your mods.
While it's usually easy at first, you often find the game broken after updating it. In that case you want to do a clean install of the game, delete the games folder in steamapps and verify the files to have it install again. (saved data is stored outside the games folder, so nothing is lost)
From there I would just download R2modman from thunderstore, search up a couple "newer or recently updated mods" and test launching the game with mods.

AMDs usually get better with Vulkan than nvidia
but now many mods I have complain about not having vulkan compiled (sad)
if game has no dx12, I prefer vulkan over dx11
(but just in general vulkan works better for me, just few games where it might not...now on 7900 XTX)
i do have a 40 series nvidia card. i will say that i had a higher framerate with vulkan, but i had more stable and consistent frames with dx. it was a night and day difference, and ive been using vulkan for a while now.
Awesome, I didnt have such good luck with my 30 series, but now that I have a 40 series I think I will do some tests with it, others I heard it working good for also had the 40 series.

Mass Farming mod works for harvesting all items. It works for planting vegetables. It has a problem when planting barley and flax. It only displays 2 out of the default 25 plants. I've tried multiple Thunderstore releases with different configuration options.

See if you have a binds.cfg or binds.yml file in your config directory. You may want to edit that.
No - there are only configs from the Mods - but no binds.cfg - how can i fix this?

Well, I don't know your exact problem but you can use a couple of F5 console commands to view and edit the 'hotkeys'.

Then, if you also can't find any key options in the individual mods' config files to edit, I don't know how to help. I guess you could go through the game Settings menu and see if there's anything in there about keyboard or controller settings that might help.

It may be that there are setkeys in the game conflicting with the default mod keys and preventing them from working. Try looking for such a conflict and changing the mods' keys to something that doesn't conflict. Like maybe R. T, and Y, for example.

To provide as much pertinent information as I can: I had launched the game to play with a friend of mine for the first time in several months. The game launched without error, and we both loaded into the world without issue. This continued to be true the many times we restarted.
However, once we had been in the world for a few minutes, the save button stopped working entirely. Every time I attempted to use the button to save the game, nothing would happen except for the above error appearing in the console.
We checked if it was an issue with there being a second player connected, but I was able to save for the first few minutes after he'd joined me. We checked if it was a BepInEx issue by uninstalling and reinstalling it completely, but that did not solve it. We transfered our saves from the cloud to local (and I disabled Steam Cloud entirely for the application), but that didn't solve it either.
We are on the most recent stable version of Valheim, both playing on Steam and him joining me through its interface. I was hosting, and not via a dedicated server.
Try rolling your games (and the server, if it's dedicated) back to the pre-BogWitch beta version in your Steam Libraries. In a week or so, after more mods are updated, you can try going back to the current game version. Switching back and forth is free and takes only a minute or two.
Right. I could check if it's a bogwitch issue. I did check how recently all of my mods had been updated, but that might not have been enough to know that they're compatible.
Well, it depends on how you checked to see if they have been updated. If you go to thunderstore.io to check their web pages and the update info there, then you have accurate information as to when they were last updated.

There were a few mods that hadn't been updated since, but most of the mods have been updated since the update's release. I can try disabling the latter set of mods if reverting to pre-BW doesn't fix it.
Yes, removing the broken mods and possibly replacing them with similar updated ones is a good option.

I will now attempt to fix it by reverting to a previous version of the game.
I am now seeing new errors on launch, but they did not prevent me from launching.
My save game is also entirely inaccessible when I am on this old version.
It appears that you'll need to use the current game versions and remove the broken mods. Finding them will be the difficult part. They might have something to do with the UI and 'buttons'. Just a guess.
My alternative that I'm thinking of doing now is, whilst on the current version, disabling the aforementioned mods that haven't been updated recently until the issue disappears, yeah.
I'm also considering disabling Crossplay as I've no need of it, but I've read somewhere that that might also disable Steam multiplayer too for no good reason? It's worth a shot, I just won't be able to test it until my friend's available again. I'll probably wait to try disabling it until later because of that.
Disabling crossplay will mean that there's no Join Code and you'll need to have forwarded your server ports in your home router to your PCs' internal IP address. Then, you would join with the 'localhost:nnnn address and port number and your friend(s) would join with your internet IP address and the port number.

Yes, it functions just fine without crossplay. You do need to have correctly forwarded the server's ip address in your home router, though. Otherwise, players external to your LAN can't communicate with the server.
I definitely don't remember having to port forward prior to the addition of the playfab integration. Unless it's been there the whole time and I never noticed
Are the other player(s) on the same home LAN as you? If not and they could play, then the ports must already be forwarded.
They are not. I certainly haven't set an exception for Valheim's ports in the router, though.
If the external players were using the Join Code from crossplay, that would explain it.
Update: I was able to take off my equipment and save the game successfully, after disabling all of the mods that were not updated within the past 3 weeks. I will now be turning those mods on one by one until the issue reappears
They were not using a join code. They were using the Steam interface, to my knowledge.
click join, put in password, that's all they needed. They never asked me once for a join code.
Odd. Steam is only smart enough to send the players to your internet external address. The router needs to be able to get it to the proper internal server's address.
I could check, perhaps I did set up port-forwarding for Valheim (I have for other games, that's for certain), and have just forgotten?

But that's unrelated to my issue at this point. I was able to save the game after disabling a subset of my mods, and now it's just trial and error to find the problem mod.

its funny because if i pause the game, my frames go back to normal. so its some kind of function that keeps attempting whatever its doing and causing my game to lag
One of your mods is out of date and broken. Re-verify your game files with your Steam Library and check your mods for their last update and remove/replace any that are too old (more than 3 wks, or so).
This one is not always caused by an outdated mod https://github.com/Valheim-Modding/Wiki/wiki/Client-Troubleshooting#znetsceneremoveobjects. Common reason recently is using the mod SmoothSave. If you have that try removing it. Otherwise follow the guide linked.
i took jagas advice, (with some exclusions) and smooth save was one of them. so far so good and now that you said that its confirmed it for me

Yes, and removing ResourceUnloadOptimizer and Smoothsave solved 90% of it. Still trying to narrow down the remaining, but it's happening way less.

Hi, I can confirm from my side, that this was caused by Smoothsave. Error messages started flooding always when save occured.
For my mods list, I have clean console only since yesterday, as Smoothbrain's Farming was update. Noticed it only because I tried to plant new Ivy plant 2 days ago :-D.
So there might still be some other things following last big game update, which I haven't tried out yet.
If you are still looking for causes of some errors, check all mods older than 2 weeks. That worked for me. All of those were gradually updated and now my server is as it was before.
But I had to use my world files from 26. 10. - 3 days before bogwitch upd. World from this date was properly regenerated and loaded. My newer world saves always turned out to have some point in the world where I came and got red sea of error, "invalid" stuff, and gradual game slowdown until "unexpected error" and crash.

Yeah, after Bogwitch main update, there were few minor updates, and mods which I updated, got 1, sometimes 2 updates after those minor game updates :-)
Yes. I was uising it fine for about 1-2 months (since I found it) And the lag at save time was often totaly unnoticable.

Hey, guys. Are there any QoL mods broken after the .16 update? Don't want to waste time, because the server cannot be rolled back.
Best way to check for that is make sure all mods are up-to-date per their latest upload, check the logoutput.log after loading into a world.
There are plenty of mods that break after an update, the easiest way to find working mods is by use of the catagories that thunderstore provides. "Bogwitch update" tag should be safe or at least the author may still be active to fix issues.
other mods not updated, not tagged with "bogwitch update" are probably best to find replacements for them or to expect them to be broken.
I am not about the bogwitch, but about the latest .16 one. Streamline doesn't allow rolling back the version, and I don't want to lose the stuff in the inventory again.
Re: roll backs. Are you sure they don't allow that? As far as Steam is concerned, it's just another beta choice. Maybe that's where Streamline has it hidden in their menu system?
Re: losing inventory stuff. The game saves your character and it's inventory along side your worlds_local folder. You can roll that back to recover inventory items with the Manage option at game start.
thanks and sorry for the delay in response, I didnt want to delve into it but 30 seconds of checking comments later we got it resolved for them, I noticed it was dated so I fortunately didnt install it, they had to go back and remove and re add enhanced traders after removing/uninstalling the Drawers mod

Never mind. I have already tested everything. It is a minor patch that doesn't need the server get updates from Steam. Only the client update is required.

Pick BepinEx instead and then you simply upload the mod manually, that way you will have the newest version.

No, you need to connect to the FTP and upload the mods dll into the plugins folder.
You need an app called Filezilla and then use the FTP details that's on your homepage on GPORTAL.

There is a world key that could cause that. If you have F5 devcommand addess you can review your world keys with the listkeys command. If you see the NoBuildCost key set in there, you can remove it with the resetkeys command.
The no build cost modifier 'hammer' could also be an option in your start .bat files' exec line, too.
I haven't changed any of that stuff, just the valheim plus config. I also don't have devcommands activated

You can do a search over at thunderstore.io for 'magic' and see waht comes up. Just pick one that is recently updated. Like 3 weeks or so.

you are using R2modman or vortex? because if vortex than you might as well just delete your valheim folder, let steam reinstall from the "verify files" and use r2modman or thunderstore mod manager.

vortex tends to taint your game install folder, so doing a clean install is good if you switch

I would suggest starting over, delete your valheim folder in your steamapps, goto properties on valheim in steam library, make sure of your beta version. set to None. then go to installed files and verify the game files. download a couple mods like JC run the game.

Try re-verfiying your game files in your Steam Library.

Then, remove BepInEx and Jotunn and reload BepInEx and let Jotunn come back in later as a dependency of one of the mods.
Are you getting your mods from thunderstore.io? Are you using r2modman as your modmanager?

Well, what would the 'manual' equivalent of that be, then. Maybe create a new .../Valheim folder named .../Valheim2 to run as a test.

No, you'd need to copy the entire Valheim folder and all it's contents as a duplicate of the entire folder. And I'm not sure that's what he meant by making a copy of the profile.

Yes, you're right. The error window you showed means that the five mods listed as "Additional Mods Loaded" aren't loaded on the server and are loaded on your game. They need to be put on the server or removed from your game.

well, I guess if anything it does give you easier logging. Just so long as you use the version of bepinex that is supported, there has been an increasing amount of people using the wrong version of bepinex.

or do you mean you manually toss bepinex right into your games folder then slap mods in the plugins folder? yeah don't do that, almost half the people who post here are asking for help cause they did that.
The reason is, the game updates and breaks, then you need to delete your valheim folder and re-do everything with mods. If using r2modman or tmm you dont usually have to do that, or at most just create a new profile and start adding mods.

How are you launching the server?
The most common reason is that BepinEx isn't installed on the server.
i do it by the game/server section when starting up r2 then i just pick server

On the computer that is hosting the server, was it installed with Steamcmd or something? I typically find it easier to manually install the server's mods. however I also ftp into my server.
Ah, no, I meant I only used Bepinex as a way to add mods into the game. I have made it work now, I only use terrain mods because I get obsessive with perfection and the game doesn't help much with it lol. Infinity Hammer basically. Seems to be working now. Thank you for caring!

yeah bepinex is a dependency of all mods, it's used to inject our code / assets into the game, without that working no mods work 😄
Go to the servers location, go into BepinEx and see if there's a logoutput.log.
If there's non then BepinEx isn't running on the server.
Modmanagers are great for clients, not servers.

what are some common pitfalls when trying to add mods and using a managed dedicated server? I've got a server running on bisecthosting, i've used their CP to install BepinEx server side and made sure it's enabled. I've also got it running locally, with the same .dll files in the plugins folder on both, but it doesn't work
You need a server first, it's not enough to just run a profile.

I've got 3 mods installed both sides, and when I start Valheim the main screen does say i'm playing a modded version. But none of the 3 mods I have installed work
Go to your host and make sure it generates a logoutput.log.
If it doesn't you need to install BepinEx on the server.
Not sure if bisect has an option to install it?
r2modman doesnt create the server for you, you need to do that first, this requires a 2nd pc to run it or virtual machine/windows. or like cookie said, rent one - but in that case you would use an ftp or website to add mods.

I have faster boats and craft from containers mods installed both locally and on the server. They don't work. The game plays normally, as if it were unmodded

I would still suggest using the steamcmd installation of a server, using the "valheim dedicated server version" from steam usually takes up your login to run?

or rather I did when the game came out and quickly uninstalled it on my hosting pc so i could install steamcmd valheim and log back into steam on my client pc.
I am no longer certain. I used them just a few months ago, but I just ran a totally local game with a save file I used them on before and they don't work.

my managed server doesn't do color coded text in the log.
The client BepinEx window works too.
I install and run my servers without using SteamCMD. For me it just adds an extra layer of complexity. I just download the server and start it with the .bat or .sh file that comes with it.
You don't need to use your SteamID to 'run' the dedicated server. You just need it to access your SteamGUI to download and install it or to verify it's files or switch beta options, etc.

Understandable. And SteamCMD works well once you've got a good grip on how to use it with all it's own installation parameters and exec options, etc.
I just didn't want people to think you need to have two Steam IDs in order to have a server running on one of your PCs while you play the game on another of your PCs.
You can do that with only your one SteamID.
i never need to delete valheim folder when the game update and mod break , im just tossing the mod in the pluging folder... i dont know why you get to delete your valheim folder for 🤨
Sometimes all you need is " just tossing the mod in the pluging folder...". Other times, when you don't know exactly what's wrong with your Valhem folder and any one of it's sub-folders and/or files, etc., it's easier and cleaner and a better opton to just simply delete the Valheim folder and just start all over with a clean install.

So I'm new to this, trying out Valheim VR. I'm very new to VR, got it to work on Subnautica. I've tried two different ways to get Valheim VR working. Currently I've downloaded the mods from nexus. Everything seems to work until I click start. It just goes grey and then back to normal and does nothing

I could really use help as I adore valheim, bought the meta quest 3 specifically to play this and subnautica.
Vortex does not work to install mods and will break your valheim setup.
Download the mod manually and either use R2/Thunderstore/Gale or manually place it in the mod folder. You will also need to install BepinEx, the thunderstore page has decent instructions for that.
You may need to repair your game or cleanup/delete your local steam valheim folders before trying to get it working again after Vortex.

I rented out a server from Valhost for friends and I, few of the commands were working mainly the "sleep" command. Decided to download a couple of mods today, Sleep command stopped working, even though Devcommands mod is also included, and turned on. Almost every other command works except sleep command. What can I do to fix it? All we really care for is the Sleep command to start working again

hey guys, i have a question. My friends made a modded valheim server (nothing big, just 16 mods) and we started playing on it. Everything seems fine most of the time, no lags, no dc's, but during grouping by players for mobs/bosses only one person can deal dmg to the enemy
any ideas how to fix that?

I'd check bepinex logs if they show any errors it means a faulty mod. then you remove one by one until no errors appear.

Vortex sets up an outdated mod loader for Valheim.
You might need to delete your Valheim install and try again to get it working.
As suggested try R2/Thunderstore or Gale mod manager.

There are over 3000 unique mods for Valheim, most of them outdated. So to be honest; Its "easier" to list the mods that wouldn't cause issues...
And so much can go wrong, if you don't install working mods correctly.

Correct. All mods not updated after latest Valheim version are "outdated"

Hello, I dont know if this is the right place to write, but when changing the game from the mistlands to the ashlands update we lost all gear and progress, and the save file is corrupted. The interesting thing is this is the same for every other backup, I only got one version to work properly, a safe file from march this year. Does anyone had any similar issues ? Not necessarily. If there's a bog witch tag they should be working. But some authors with working mods may not have added the tags. Anything updated since the last game update or has the tag should be fine - but not having these conditions does not make a mod outdated in itself. I personally only like to publish updates my mods if they need an update since it's time consuming
Really depends on what mods you are using if it's a mod that caused it to corrupt? Or if you had an inventory expansion mod then removed it that could cause gear to disappear

I tamed a 2 star lox and it can't climb the tiniest slope, it's so stupid.
unless it's tagged with Bogwitch I dont care, if an author cant take 2 seconds to add a tag I can't be bothered to care if their mod works or not and tell people it's broken even if it isnt
Yeah, my MagicalMounts has such a script which basically makes them stick to any slope and not slide down.

The mod's description should explicitly tell you whether is client-side or not
The only way to be sure is to load it on the client and try to connect to the server. You'll get an error msg., if you need it on the server, too.

Keep in mind that any mod that is only on your PC won't be seen or used by any other player on the same server.

I rented a server but can't get bepinex to work on it, always says it is missing sdk64/steamclient.so

Are you playing on a server? Ask the server host or other players for help. Or maybe find a different server. If it's your sole game, then reconfigure the NPC raiders in the mods' config file.
A config file with no mod only takes up space. It doesn't hurt or help anything. Just delete it. Or ignore it.
That mod is 3 years old, by the way. Where are you getting your mods? You probably should just delete the whole Valheim folder and start over with a reinstall from Steam and get the r2modman mod manager from thunderstore.io and use it to get and install mods. You can easly see the mods' last update that way.

I checked the config but the only options is to turn them off or the % to drop gear there dont seem to be any zone blacklist or difficulty adjustment per zone. Ah well I guess Ill adjust hp/attack modifier until I can handle them

When i downloaded this mod i had 2 more buttons right beside "s" (which is for sort) but then i opened the game and again and they are now gone. I didnt change any settings so i dont know what i need to change to get it back. Putting it here if someone has answers or similar experince with this mod and how did they fix it. Also as a disclaimer, i have never used mods before so this might be a stupid question :3

That mod should be working ok. Make sure you don't have other mods doing the same things. According to the mods' instructions:
"There is also an extensive configuration system, that applies changes immediately. I highly recommend using an in-game Configuration Manager mod."
So look through the config file(s) for the mod and see what you can do there. And consider using a config manager to make it easier.

Check your logs for unusual error msgs that could expain it. Also, make sure the mods update didn't put in any mods that aren't being currently updated by their authors.
I have but it is not stable, if for example a player dies sometimes their voice becomes global and they have to reconnect, its strange

Hello everyone, I have been enjoying a great time with friends in a community server for almost half a year and all of sudden an unidentifiable error occurred and we have been struggling already for 2 days trying to figure out what causes the log-in issue.
In this way, I would appreciate some ideas and advice on how to solve it.
About the issue: We have a server which incorporates numerous mods, everything was working just fine until this week (to be specific, I noticed the issue on Thursday). I tried as usual to login to the server but it failed and providing me with the message below. We tried already reinstalling Valheim and Thunderstore 3 times each, deleted everything from Valheim and installed it all over and also tried creating fresh new characters. The server acts as if I did not have particular mods, but I actually do have all mods with correct versions downloaded, same as our server requires. We have tried everything we could think of but without any success. That is the reason why I tried to write here and hopefully I will receive some great advice on how to solve my issue.
Are you self hosting or using a hosting service?
You should check the servers Logoutput.txt, and check if the issue mod is being loaded twice
