There's a mod or two that tries to register the same prefab twice.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe textures don't have problems with updates. The worst is if there are new textures added, they won't be replaced.
Hey guys, I want to increase the exploration radius to make map exploration easier. I’ve tried a few mods, but they didn’t work. Is there a working mod that does this?
Does anyone know of a mod that can be run on dedicated servers to reset Charred Fortresses in Ashlands so the chests/loot respawn? The mods I've tried so far only respawn the enemies.
Exploration by Smoothbrain. It's a skill that when leveled increases a few things like loot in world chests and the explore radius. Can be configured.
Venture Location Reset. Just about every location, even bees in Meadows, can be configured to reset on a schedule.
Tried it, it's reseting the enemies but not the chests, cores, bell frags, or spawners in the fort. Only the enemies.
I'm not sure I've experienced that one, should reset the whole location.
Well, you can use UpgradeWorld and run a command, and if you want to automate it, you can use CronJobs with it. Small learning curve, but you can essentially have the server run commands without further input.

Someone just reported the same thing to me a few hours ago. I'm going to look into why this is happening over the weekend because it's supposed to reset that stuff. Something might have changed after the last game update

It's been a while since I used PlanBuild, but I'm pretty sure you have to add center/snap points for that to work.

the fix will likely also resolve other issues, since the error causes a lot of important patches to not getting applied
Broken/outdated mod. You'll have to find it and remove it. Turn off half your mods, start a new world. If spinning fixed, turn half of those mods back on. Not fixed, turn off half of the remaining. Do this until you isoloate it.
Im not very good with mod stuff so can someone help? I havent been able to play for months because BepInExPack hasnt updated on Thunderstore 🥲 what can I do?
BepInExPack is prob not your problem the version on thunderstore works perfectly fine with current game version

heyo, having an issue. Im trying out a new modpack (new to me) called M2_Modpack by DefaultTeam, no extra mods, no weird config settings, nothing. i booted it up and made fresh new configs and didnt tweak anything and i cant see my health or stamina, but i do have them cuz i can run out of stamina and also die. anybody know what the hell is doing this? any and all help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! ;-;
Hello all. Looking for suggestions on a mod that will expand crafting windows? all im finding are not up to date. Farily new on the return and just seeing whats out there
i have noticed yesterday and today that when i use the "plant easily" mod, some of my plants seem to disappear when i come back later to check on them. is this an issue with the mod? could the mod even cause this? or do i need to look for another cause? it has happened in 2 different worlds

If something is wrong with that modpack it's up to author to provide support for it.
A modpack is something people usually make by themselves, so you can go pick mods that you want to use, read manuals to understand what they do and configure everything to suit your needs.
I don't know of any that expand crafting UI. Some mods that can help with finding what you need are:

hey guys, back again... unfortunately. this time, just a small bug. i figured out what was wrong last time, but now im playing with a slightly different set of mods and i cannot see the eitr cost of items for whatever reason. if anybody would like to try and see why that might be i can provide the modlist either here or in DM chat, whatever you prefer, as i've done a bit of teseting already myself and cant figure out what the problem is. any help appreciated! :D

I think you've loaded an out of date or broken mod. And I don't think that error can tell you which one it might be.

It would be the one(s) you installed when the issue started. Or disable or uninstall them one at a time and test after each one.

Easy. Remove smoothsave from your client. It should only be where the world file is loading (the server)

Sup, need an explanation or smthng, quite new to this bug when mid-game there is a all sounds cut permanently until death/rejoin, can't quite put my finger around it, anybody else encountered such bug? Bug occurs randomly, has no obvious precursor to it and just cuts all audio except music and weather effects.

Single figured out the problem, the BepInExPack_Valheim hasn't been updated in the last 11 months which is causing the commands to not work with certain mods which causes the bug.

I have an issue I use thunderstore mods but for a long time now it won't work everything is up to date. But when I click play modded that special windows that runs all mods won't open it just go to the vanilla game. Plz help I can't play without mods to boring after awhile

Is the mod manager on a different storage drive than your game? That's another issue people run into, I thought the solution was in the guide but it's missing from the client one (it's in server troubleshooting). You'll need to add %* somewhere, let me get the exact steps for you

Someone might need to correct me, but try going to your profile settings in the mod manager, debugging tab -> set launch parameters and put that %* in there. See if that works

You might also need to fix your locations tab settings if it says it's missing. That would be "change valheim directory", make sure that it points to your game installation

You can find that from steam settings for the game. So gear wheel -> properties brings up a menu, installed files tab then hit the "browse..." button
Check it matches that mod manager setting
Yeah, that's your installation directory. See the path in that bar at the top? If you click on it it will tell you the whole path with the drive letter

Click on the mod manager setting and it will bring up an explorer window. Copy the path from that other window you opened a minute ago, paste it into the new window to get there fast. Then you just click on the vlaheim.exe, which is the file with the valheim logo

Hi, hoping someone here can help me. I'm trying to use the Marketplace and server NPCs mod, but I don't see option when I equip my hammer to create a new NPC in the build menu. Have I missed a step? And if so, can anyone let me know what it is? I am in debug mode.
There is a Marketplace hammer, needs spawned in to use. And debugmode needs enabled too.

One of your mods is screwing with the interface. If you don't have too many mods, disable or remove them one at a time to find the one causing the problem and remove and replace it with an up to date mod.
If you have a ton of mods, think about when the problem appeared and what you added at that time. Or just disable/remove them half at a time until you get it narrowed down.
Also, you can check your log file(s) to see if there's any error msgs there to tell you which mod is causing the problem.

i'm using the raft mod and i cant deconstruct anything on it, all i can do is relaunch the game without it, demo the items and rebuild the raft later. am i missing something, can anyone help?

It's a normal mistake
Yeah, that raft mod seems to require a lot of patience, fussing with it, and looking the other way when you find you have to jump through some hoops to get it to do what you want it to do. If you absolutely NEED to build rafts, you'll just have to pay the toll it takes on your patience. Keep your world backed up more reliable than just default backups.

Best to go look at thunderstore.io website Valheim community and see what you like there. LOTS of good mods. Get those that say Ashlands version.

friends, to be honest with you I have no idea, I play with my friends on my host but I think it's time to move to the server, I'm a streamer and I have an audience, so maybe people would come to play, and since we work differently, I think it's time to they don't always wait for me for invitations, but come in when they want, as for mods, I have no idea, we never modded anything, but I have a 7100h in the game, we played it a lot and played a lot, sorry for the bad writing, I'm still learning

Then tell thunderstore.io to search for ModPaks and see what comes up. Most are either vanilla difficulty or a little harder for the game.
Adding any mods at all will require work to learn how to install them. And the more mods, the more work. Needs patience but worth it in the end. 🙂

Any mods that change the game or add to it in any way also need to be on all players games, too. No way to avoid that.
You can make it easier for the players by using r2modman to load the mods and have it 'export' a profile code to give to the players so they can use it to load their needed mods.

Yes, they would use r2modman on their games to create their own 'profile' from the exported code so they can join the server. And don't have to load the mods one at a time.

Server's aren't always easy to create and maintain. You'll have questions and we'll have answers for you. Usually... 😄
how hard is it to insert a mod? probably much harder than on other games
With r2modman, you just do a couple clicks, find the mod, and a couple more clicks. But for the server, r2modman works flawlessly if the host has a Windows OS. If it has Linux instead then couple extra steps are needed.

As long as all the mods are current, it should be ok.
Also, when adding building pieces, make absolutely sure ALL players have the mod that adds the pieces. Otherwise, buildings could collapse.

If anyone has experienced a similar issue could you please help me out to find a way to fix it ? Me and a friend wanted to host our own server with a few mods but I've had that problem twice already. It's easy to fix by creating a new character (which isn't something I'd like to do every single time lol) but all of the backups are corrupted as well since I've already had the item which is the Noble Helmet. Thank you in advance and sorry if it is a stupid question !
Check to see if one of your mods is too old. Then remove or replace that one.
fixed it. turns out my friend had started the world and while playing one of the mods had an update. So I updated it but he didn't so we just relogged and it's working now 😭

hey guys I just updated the PlanBuild mod and now I cant enter my world. Does anyone know whats going on?
Server or solo game? What error msg do you get? Also, you can check your Player.log (in there with your worlds folder) to see if it has error msgs that tell you what's wrong.

I will try, of course. But I have never used a Hosting Company and have no knowledge or experience with them. I do know that some of them are easier to use mods and others are not.
If i've had someone on my world before, but NOT normally, is that still multiplayer?
I was thinking that you might need to also up date your server but that doesn't apply when you've only ever used the in-game server.

My way is - On my local machine I create a separate profile with r2modman and install the server mods there. Then I sync that plugins folder with the one on the server with any FTP/SFTP file manager like WinSCP or FileZilla.

I think one of your mods is too old or broken. Do you have any mods that add ships or anything like that? If so, check it's current date.

I'm only guessing but maybe the balrond shipyard mod? You can try disabling mod(s) for a test to see which is causing the error.

Yes, when you add mods inside r2modman, then it puts them in your profile and uses them from there to start the game or to make a profile export code for your server users. 🙂

Usually, when my game is loading for a while with no errors, I count my blessings and just let it keep loading. Sometimes for more that a few minutes... Especially when the world or some mods are new.
Yeah, that's not good. Better interrupt it and figure out where the error is.

You can use the Azu AntiCheat mod to allow you to create a 'whitelist' of required mods and not allow players to connect without them.

i'm having an error exactly like that one but with just Jotunn and PlanBuild
this is my first attempt at running a dedicated server, so i have no idea what i'm doing or how to fix it.
do you think its the PlanBuild update that happened today? i have confirmed that both the server and client are running the same versions of the game, Jotunn, and PlanBuild though.
Some mods have internal version checking and some others don't. That means the mods have to be present AND same versions on server and all the clients that connect to it. Usually it's the mods on the server that kick the clients. But in the case of PlanBuild it's the opposite - If server has it it's optional for clients, but if it's not on the server then clients can't have it either.
and what if that error occurs and both server and client have PlanBuild, both have the same versions of that mod and Jotunn, but the client still can't join because of "incompatible versions" and "PlanBuild 0.17.0 was not loaded on the server"
then you check the log file in the bepinex dir to make sure they loading the right version lol
PlanBuild 0.17.0 was not loaded on the server - this is the problem. why it's not loading?
PlanBuild requires you to to copy the Hookgen patcher to the patches folder and not the plugins folder.
Are other mods working ok on the server?
im not sure how PlanBuild 0.17.0 was not loaded on the server, because i can see it right there in the mod list in r2modman. and Hookgen was installed using r2modman, so yes, its in the plugins folder. and finally, yes, all other mods i have are running just fine

Hey regarding loging in to steam - use the SteamCMD method instead of Steam-service.
That is described in the official fandom guide for dedicated valheim server.

It doesn't really matter, they're both the same and either works.
To be honest I'm using LinuxGSM to automate installation somewhat, and there's a similar named tool for windows although old I'm not sure if it's still working but there should be other tools that automate game-server installation and management in general. Those might help you to avoid doing it fully manually.

No. You just copy the chars to the server and add steamID prefix. If that's what you wanted.

The best way would be to add an option to the start_headless_server.bat exec command to create a log file for the server.
Add ** -logfile "C:\Users\UserName\Desktop\ServerLog.txt"**
The quotes are needed. Put in your own user name there.
i am not sure what is happening now... the progress of my server starting has stopped right at the beginning, after all the "memorysetup-temp-allocator" stuff
unless everything is being written into the log now and i canst see it?
That's ok. It means all the good info is going to the ServerLog.txt file.
It'll make a new file each time you start up the server it writes over the old one.

No, just read through it for the BepInEx stuff. You need to get familiar with it anyway so you can use it in the future too, if you ever need to.

Inside r2modman, there a setting for Launch Option that has a whole lot of default crap in it for when you use mods on the server. Look for that and make sure it's all there. Or at least looks like it's all there.

Yes, you can change all of that inside of the configuration file. The weight of the items inside the backpack [default: 100%] as well as the weight of the backpack itself [default: 4].
Though, I recommend using the configuration manager to change things instead of manually going to the configuration file, unless you know what you're doing.

issue has been solved! I received some help from the r2modman discord channel. this is a "known issue" with Valheim. I just added a literal %* to the end of the list of arguments of the valheim_server.exe call in the batch file. not sure what that does, but it fixed it.

Google says: the %* means "all the parameters in the command line". For example, it's useful when you want to forward the command line from your batch file to another program.

experiencing an issue with Perfect Placement mod: i have the "Enable Advanced Editing Mode" and the "Enable Grid Alignment" functions turned on, the other 2 are disabled. What is happening though is that the grid is randomly turning itself on without input from me, and without displaying the "Grid alignment by default enabled" text. Then, when I hit F7 to disable it, it says that it has been enabled, but then behaves as though it is disabled. and then when it says its disabled, its actually enabled.

I didnt change anything with my mods, and went through a long process with all of them and with help from this server to find out that my issue doesnt actually come from mods. its still present when I load into Vanilla Valheim.
I cannot enter my world. My character on the character select screen is gone and in his place there is the name "ragnar". I can click the left OR right arrow and it brings me to my character, but it doesnt seem to help when, on the next screen, I can't enter my world no matter how many damn times I click play. I removed every mod I had, and the issue persisted. I validated my files. Im about to delete my game and reinstall, but I DONT want to lose my save file. Can anyone help?
I went through a big process recently here to fix it and it worked, once. Then it immediately stopped working again, even when I would turn off ALL of my mods. Between this and Baldur's Gate causing disk write errors i'm having a very bad time trying to play any of the games I like.

I heard steam cloud is not reliable and I prefer to disable it and take care of my files. I have 10s backups of worlds and chars already they don't take up space.
If you play from multiple pc-s you'll need steam-cloud either or to sync them to the other pc directly or through gdrive or something.

Some parts, mostly wood for some reason, are acting as if they were attached to land when they're floating in mid air.
The only mod that I have installed is server dev commands, and the only command ever used is fly.
I've restarted both game and server and the issue still persists.
is it just my friend don't remember vanilla bow shooting or if any one else has this mod can tell difference. He states that arrow doesn't match height with aim cross when shooting from bow - arrow gets ejected lower

The best way to do things is look at "updated/latest" mods, I dont know what exactly you're looking for but I guess V+?

It all seems due to the latest Valheim update.
I had my axe textures revert in game. Tried replacing all the textures with the hd one's again, and I also threw in the seasonality hd ones again too... for good measure. That's when the game started to throw all those errors. So yeah these 2 mods are in need of an update, apparently.
I left posts on the respective mod pages, regarding needing updates.
Can you revert back your game to before the update? I've never tried that but I'm pretty sure it's possible.
I don't have a back up unfortunately. Every mod is manually installed too. I would have to root them out, and live with no seasons and no hd textures. Bleck 🤮 Not too mention, removing seasonality would most definitely break the world... So I gotta just hope for updates...

Thunderstore is the very much preferred platform for modding this game. Generally mods uploaded to nexus are outdated, not maintained anymore, or cross uploaded anyways. More updated and maintained mods are found on Thunderstore.
Not to mention the mod manager for Nexus (Vortex) ships a broken mod as well as broken BepInEx by default.
Thunderstore Mod Manager or R2modman are the preferred mod managers for thunderstore.

AzuAutoStore by itself doesn't cause crashes. Maybe you have another mod that's broken and causing the crashes?

Well, I still don't know exactly what you mean, but you could turn the roof pieces, thatched and otherwise, upside down with the M3TO Gizmo mod or the InfinityHammer mod, if that would help.
It'd be tricky but possible. Other than that, I don't know of any mod that does that automatically. Good luck with it!

I know that one lets you 'rotate' building pieces but I can't remember if you need to custimize it to do that with the arrow keys or the mouse wheel or not. The M3TO Gizmo mod might be easier to use.

Thunderstore is greatly in need of user feedback. At least nexus has posting... And I find most modern mods have a thunderstore mirror site.
Can you take a copy of your world files (the .db and .fwl) to your PC and load the world there for a test? With and without any mods?
I personally opt for nexus if both sites have the mod. Mainly due to direct contact for support.
I believe that's a bad decision on your part. Nexus doesn't work well for Valheim.
When you ask for help with your mods be sure to mention that you got them from nexus so that people know that.
The site itself is younger than Nexus. It’s also actively undergoing changes. Example, the communities pages recently changed to be their new layout to mimic the mod managers etc
More features are coming soon. Like the ones you expect.
I should state that I manually install everything, so mod managers aren't in my thoughts at all. And I've already mentioned using nexus for mirrors, so both mods are the same version. I'm not arguing anything for the sake of nexus. I just feel that both places to get mods are valid. And it would be great to see some way to communicate with MA's. As a modder, I know how important mod user feedback can be. Final thought... Telling people how to determine if a mod is out of date, is much more valuable than nay saying a mod source.
Most authors give links to their discord or mention the popular modding discords for the game that they can be found in.
You’ll find a lot of people do not know how to actually tell if a mod is out of date. They assume if Vortex or either of the thunderstore mod managers say they can’t get a newer version than what they downloaded, it’s “updated” and for some reason never bother to read mod pages, last updated dates, wikis, incompatibility information, etc. to deduce otherwise.
Nay saying Vortex/Nexus for this game is much easier than trying to explain to every new person how to read the things they should. Most people want plug and play, click without reading, mods. So, since the general population of Valheim mods on Nexus are outdated or not maintained…it’s vastly easier to move them to thunderstores mod managers. Especially since it allows easy profile sharing without redistribution.
Discord is generally faster in support, has notification support, and overall gives users answers much faster.
Even Reddit is better than the support notification options than Nexus has. I hate having to keep the site open and manually checking comments to see if there is a new one (or at the very least where on the thread the notification took me)
I don’t expect you to believe me when I say why it’s great for users to comment and see the other issues people are having, but a nightmare for the author to keep up or even find the latest additions to their posts.
I also don’t expect you to believe me that discord search features, forums etc actually act as most of what thunderstore is missing until they add it themselves. Likely, unless I can get notifications to my phone, I’d still prefer discord for user community and engagement
A while back i logged in to find an error had a appeared which io've never been able to resolve. Could i ask, you the community to help me troubleshoot the error.

The logout/quit buttons don’t work.
The impact is I can’t move.
Remedial action so far:
Reinstall game,
Update all mods.
Use devcommands to fly > console will not take commands, it opens and I can type into it but enter does nothing.
I started without mods and the error ceases, so somewhere a mod i have is breaking it. What is the method to identify this and make the edit to the correct parameter? (Bepinex modmanager is installed)

I will be honest, I turn off comments on Nexus, I would rather people use my Thunderstore contact info (discord) and ask me questions directly instead of them waiting a month or two for me to visit nexus.
Start by disabling half your mods, and boot up. If you fear you may mess up your world, start a new character/world to test.
If the issue is still there, disable half of what is left. If the issue went away, enable half of what you previously disabled. Keep splitting until you find the mod causing the errors, and then remove permanently.
Also, remember that the mod updated date isn't the date that you downloaded it. It's the date that the mod was updated by it's author.
You need to check that date specifically to see if a mod is updated for the current game release.
So I did the inverse disabled all and then reenabled my favs.
There is more than one offender. It appears but immediately the version of gizmo I had was throwing errors

Another tip: You can go to individual mod's website pages from inside the r2modman manager easily and quickly and check it's update date there with just a couple clicks.

Looks like TargetPortal is refusing to load because the author marked it as incompatible with Valheim Plus. You can't use them both at the same time.

Sounds like you might want to adjust your rotation increment from the default 16 up to 32 or even 64 to get a finer rotation increment.

Yep.
The config should tell you what the keybind is for the rotation increment adjustment. Mine is set for Keypad+ and Keypad- to raise and lower the adjustment amount. I don't remember if that's the default or I customized it. 🙂

The 16-32-64 etc. is the number of degrees it moves with each bump of the mouse wheel turning. The more degrees, the more sensitive the rotation becomes.
That looks like the available settings not the one currently set as default.
You need to find the keybind that makes the 'cycle through' them work up and down.

Yes each hit of the KeypadPlus goes to the next value in the rotation settings. You go off the high end and at 128 it starts back at the beginning with 8.
now i understand that vanilla is 16 but this decreased to 8 so thats why i was having a problem i assume

I'm not a good source of info for map mods. I just use the default map and do an 'exploremap' to reaveal the whole thing. I've got no patience for discovering stuff. 😄

Hello Everyone! I have quite a few mods and am getting an annoying glitch. When I go to use the crafting bench, my shield (wood) will despawn out of my inventory. I then go to make another and it FILLS my inven with shields that i cant upgrade and dont seem to be real because when i recylce them (mod) i dont get any mats back. What do?

@dense mesa I'm worried my server has the world destroyer bug. Trees aren't spawning but dungeons and spawners are loading in. So like flat land and enemies is it. Besides a previous save, cause we don't wanna lose such massive progress, any ideas???
Sounds like you have a broken or out of date mod. Are you using thunderstore.io r2modman to manage your mods?
do you know where the adminlist in the non-dedicated servers?
I don't know what would cause that. I've never heard of it before.
You might be able to use one of Jere Kuusela's mods to reset the world's zones and get the missing stuff back.
Check his WorldEdit mod and see if that's the one that has the 'zones' command. If not, it might be WorldUgrade but I think it's WorldEdit.
Do all that on a world that has a good backup in case you mess it up worse. And be prepared to wait while the reset command completes. It could take a little while.
It's next to the server's worlds_local folder.
Ok, well you need to find and remove the broken mod. It's just a lot easier when you're using r2modman to manage your mods. But either way the bottom line is you need to find out which mod(s) broken and remove it/them.

i have one big smelter one small smelter in two coal furnaces. Lots of sitting points. Few Portals. A Bird's Nest. 6 bee hives. A big Kitchen and lots of chests! (and some decorations)

@dense mesa Do you know any fire mod to close fire effect or smooth it cuz it decreases my and my friends fps significantly in ship i get around 30fps cuz of fire and other light sources but somewhere else its above 50 its a big diffrence and its really bothering me. Im trying to find a mod but i need something like closes the fire effect on fireplaces etc or decreases it
I've never heard of a mod that does that. But you could do a search over at thunderstore.io and see what comes up. Make sure that whatever you choose has a current update date.
Also, see if any of the game's graphics settings can help with that, too.
I found a mod that does some of the things I want other than closing the fire effect but we'll see

RecycleNReclaim, for instance, allows returning resources with workbench limitations, inventory destruction...etc.
Simply saying "makes it better" is not stating what you mean by better. Do you want it to return resources? Do you just want the ability to destroy items? Do you want it to have better effects? Do you want it to take less time to interact?

Because the obliteerator destroys items and returns coal. Which, means you don't litter oceans.

If your goal is to reduce material/item overload. RecycleNReclaim is a good immersive way to do that.

I'm sure it could connect to the thunderstore api and work for in game mod access. This should allow even xbox players to enjoy mods and should also work on streaming services. or at least it does for many games.
Technically you could run dedicated server on your computer and connect from GeForce.
But server side only mods are quite limited.
I’m sure I’m not the first one with this question but thought I’d ask here; valheim plus seems to work on my friends dedicated server but when I log into a local save file it doesn’t seem to work? Am I missing something?
The ValheimPlus config file options you play with on the server may not be the same options you use on your PC.
getting this when i log out and My character vanishes but is there if i hit left or right to characters. The only in gameissue i am seeing is my Axis seems off some times when im laying down building materials etc. Logging out fixed it but this is here
It looks like one or another of your mods is causing a conflict with another mod. It may or may not cause problems in your game. But if you notice something isn't working right, I'd suspect this would be the reason.
If you have an old or broken mod, remove it. Or just wait until something really breaks and do it then.

Not that I can see? I’m only trying to change the inventory rows from 4 to 6 so I don’t lose my bottom two rows if I accidentally select the wrong world.
The RavenwoodPieces is really nice. It's a darker wood with thin strips for texture effects, and flat on both sides. Very clean.
Check to see that you've got the same mods for your solo world that you have for the server world. You may be missing one or have one too many.

I still think the problem is different config file settings with your solo game. But, if you can't get that straightened out, then you can turn it off in V+ and add the ExtendedPlayerInventory mod by Azumatt to your solo game to add the 2extra inventory rows for your solo game.
But you'll have to be careful to only add the 2 extra rows to match your servers' game and nothing more. Do not use the utility rows in the ExtendedPlayerInventory mod with your solo game, for example. Because you'll lose your armor that's in those slots when you log in to the server without the utility rows.

If you're using ComfyGizmo, also load up the Jotunn mod to support it.
If you're using M3TO Gizmo, that's not necessary, although Jotunn may be needed for, and load up with, one or another of your other mods.
Personally, I haven't had any problems with InfinityHammer and Gizmo together but the mix of other mods you and I have are bound to be differrent. 🙂
The error means it's trying to load the same prefab twice but it can't since it's already been registered.

what i was doing that seems to mess up in game is copying rocks. i would move the axis around to change the looks and create variety. When i go back to reg hammer to build all the alignments are off
There's a 'reset' key you can press to set all rotation back to default quickly. I think the default key bind is the Period key but, if that doesn't do it, check the mod config file to get the right key press.

Try the "V" key. That seems to be the default for the reset rotations.

Hi, I'm using gtxgaming.co.uk for game servers. Usually for a few months to play with friends. For Valheim, they have installer for BepInEx and any mod from thunderstore.io - you just put mod names into config file and it downloads them. You can also schedule task for updating mods configured like this.
Personally, I tried it, but it's quicker to just upload "plugins" and "configs" directories from my PC to BepInEx directory on server.
I'm new to Valheim and I'm testing some mods combinations which I will use on server and so far I haven't any problems running any mod on gtxgaming hosting - I've been playing around with it for about 3-4 weeks.
I read about mod Renegade VIkings . It should have options for adding both hostile and friendly NPC vikings.
Hey so I got a dedicated server and I'm trying to get it set up with mods. I got modpack I use in singleplayer uploaded to the server but, It's giving me a bunch of shader unsupported by GPU errors and referencing monobleedingedge a from a bunch of different mods. Anyone know how I can fix this?

I guess it's integral part of Valheim, and when you start it as headless server, those shaders are not needed but they can't be just removed. Or am I mistaken?

Yes as servers don't have a GPU.

It's a vanilla recipe. You need ashvine seeds which sometimes drop alongside the berries when harvesting ashvines.

If not all players have both, I couldn't imagine it would. It was just a thought it might be two mods overlapping hotkeys. Do you have ConfigManager? Could do a search for "hotkey" and see what it returns.

Hello, I'm using mod "Backpacks" by Smoothbrain/blaxxunbloop and I successfully configured some backpacks with .yml files.
But I have a question about crafting stations and their levels required for upgrades/repair.
In normal .cfg file for backpacks is defined "Explorer's backpack" as an example with option to define MAX required level of chosen crafting station.
By default, each upgrade is +1 craft. station lvl. requirement. So you can do max 6 upgrades if you craft it on Forge lvl 1, since Forge goes up to 7 lvl .
Nothing in .yml files or readme shows how to cap required station lvl in .yml config, but normal .cfg (where you can't define custom backpacks) has that option.
These are the settings from .cfg:
Crafting Station = Workbench
Crafting Station Level = 1
Maximum Crafting Station Level = 4
But .yml have equivalent only for first two:
station: Workbench
level: 1
Do you think it's just not exposed to .yml configs and I should contact mod author, or is there some thing I missed? Or a trick I don't know yet?

Hey, I may be experiencing a mod issue and I could potentially use a hand since I am new to modding. I am in the swamps now, but for the last new arrows past fire and flint, I am unable to see them, plus I can't make the new huntsman bow.
There are a few mods that do that. One of my favorites is Corsairs by Marlthon
The huntsman bow requires FineWood and Iron. And when you say you can't 'see' the arrows, do mean they're invisible or you don't have a recipe for them?
Are you using warfare? You'd need to craft a fletching table for bows starting swamp level

A lot of these are old. TorchesEternal, TransparentSail, QuickConnect, MultiCraft to name just a few.
Recommend you check when they were last updated, then test without them to see if the problem goes away.
There's also two clock mods.
Yeah, the one I am using isn't working but they have different functions and they both used to work.
One is real-clock and the other in-game clock.
The Azu, Advize, blacks7ar, Goldenrevolver, and Searica mods should be fine, and I know Auto repair, even tho old, still works. A place to start to narrow the issue.

I have a problem, my friends and I have a server over the Thunderstore Launcher with the mods Servercharacter and Azuanticheat.
The problem is that when my friends go offline and come online the next day, the character is not saved, but my character and the world are saved, which means that my friends lose items, which frustrates them extremely.
Hello, I'm using upgrade world mod. When I use the command to replenish the chests, it empties them all instead. Any ideas?
Disable crossplay, and disable cloud saving via steam. Steam will backdate you constantly as it doesn't save everytime you close the game or logout. It saves in intervals.

are your friends connecting only from PC? if they are on consoles, you need crossplay. Regarding saves: I use local save for all my characters and worlds

I know it's not intended use, but having a list of effects with names is great - even more that it's generated and up to date.

Yes. Backpacks should probably provide either the ability to use both, or point to documentation that gives what you need.
We’ve installed to our server seasons by shudnal mod. There’s instructions which we followed and transforred mod files to Valheim folder. Game works when we start it and we can play it. (Looks nice indeed…) But we don’t find files in which we should be able to adjust settings. There isn’t file ’shundal.seasons’ at bepinex/config folder. Therefore there isn’t either json-files for each season.
Where those files should save? Are those files automaticly created when seasons mod is installed? How to solve this?

I've installed and used Shundal's Seasons mod on one of my servers. And on that server, it created a "shundal.seasons.cfg" file in the BepInEx config folder. And it also created a new folder in the BepInEx config folder named "shundal Seasons".
Inside that shundal.seasons.cfg file and the "shundal Seasons" folder are options and the data files and .json files that you could use to customize the mod.

Probably a mod that's an earlier version. Check your log files to see exactly where the errors are.

Think you need to download HookGenPatcher as a dependency. But I hear PlanBuild having issues, tho I can't confirm. Additionally, vortex isn't good for Valheim, use Thunderstore.

PlanBuild: I used thunderstore's r2modman mod manager to install the recent PlanBuild mod update and it's ValheimModding-HookGenPatcher dependency mod. Both loaded up and installed into the game without any errors.
I tested PlanBuild in my game along with a lot of other mods for a while and for the most part it works ok without any major errors. The terrain tools seem to work flawlessly. But, there are still a couple other things it's doing that aren't quite right. Fortunately they're relatively minor bugs and are pretty easy to work around, for the most part.
Blueprint selections still stay green when they should no longer be green. However, when the selection is later placed, it has it's natural color. No more green. But I've found no easy way to remove the green from the original selected item(s). One thing you can do about that is to delete the original selected things and replace them with the saved blueprint to restore the natural color. Or you can pick them up and put them back down with InfinityHammer. That clears the green color, too.
And I haven't gotten PlanBuild's snap point markers to work right. If you're going to use PlanBuild to copy/paste building pieces together, it's going to be a struggle to get them positioned correctly because they won't 'snap' into place.
Hopefully, those things will get fixed eventually. Until then, PlanBuild is still one of my favorite mods, anyway.
im using it just to flatten the ground ! however idk if it's the mod or the ground in iself, i can flatten the ground anymore even if i use the pickaxe

I've run into that problem with terrain, too. I think it's just the way the game is designed. Sometimes a mod that suspends the upper/lower ground level limits works.

I think that's right. Several times I've run into that and just decided to move the whole structure to a new site. That can be annoying.

Yeah but don't remove it until you get it placed back in successfully where you want it in a new site with different terrain limits. Last thing to do it delete the original. 🙂

And, remember, the original is going to be green after you select the original to save.
Yeah, that works, too. Use one of the gizmo mods to make sure you can place it back exactly how you need it adjusted. You'll likely need to raise it up/down or rotate it a bit when you place it back in.

Also, you can place it back in with InfinityHammer too, if Planbuild gets fussy. InfinityHammer can use the PlanBuild blueprints.

One of the PlanBuild tools can remove 'planned' or placed in pieces. It's sometimes easier to do when you've got the SkuldCrystal from PlanBuild equipped.

If you haven't already done so, you probably should go into PlanBuild's config file and set the Default Build Mode to 'Direct' instead of the default 'Planned' mode.

Yeah, one of the recent game patches opened up that little bug in the terrain. It doesn't happen too often and sometimes 'fixes' itself if you go away and come back so the game re-renders it. Sometimes not... 🤷♂️

I am trying to make a dedicated server for mysalfe to do a solo playthrough but moded mobs drop loot and vanila mobs dont , any idea why ?

what version you got from epic loot ?
Probably a syntax error in the config for regular mobs drop file. Or, if separate files your moded mobs file is overwriting instead of appending the regular drops file

Just for the note: Jerekuusela`s InfinityHammer. The Hoe removes mist-spawner in Mistlands permanently. Used this mod for very very long and just found out while removing some rocks. Well wasnt that a minute too soon ❤️

usually the logs will say why someone isnt able to connect - if using r2modman go to settings>browse profile location>open the bepinex folder and review the LogOutput.log file. Look for errors or around the disconnect message.
im running comygizmo and planbuild together. every time i do, BepInEx shows a series of red errors in the bepinex window. with just comfygizmo (and no planbuild) these errors do not occur. im not sure if its a problem or not; sometimes i run into issues with PlanBuild, but those issues occur when im just running that mod by itself anyway.
Run the Jotunn mod with it, if you're not already doing so.

I don't know the solution to the red errors with ComfyGizmo/PlanBuild but I'm also pretty sure you can ignore them.

Which creative mod? Check your BepInEx log to see if there are problems loading the mod.

i tried using vortex, couldnt make it work somehow and then i installed them manually. it wasnt an issue yesterday and when i laucnhed valheim a moment ago it updated. maybe that caused it. i think ill stop automatic updates for valheim and then go through the modded game
It's easier to get your mods at thunderstore.io and see that they are updated for the Ashlands game version. Their r2modman manager makes it even easier.
i downloaded some from nexusmods and some from thunder. ill check the mod manager if i cant identify the broken mod
r2modman makes it easy and quick to disable/enable mods to find the broken one. If you decide to use it, remove all the mods and reload them with the mod manager. Adding them back is also quick and easier with the manager.

download the mod manager from the community’s main page.

use the manager once extracted and download mods. Read the mod pages (website button on the mod in the manager) and make sure you’re checking last updated times. “Most up to date” version of a mod doesn’t mean it’s updated for the game version. Last Updated Date usually is a good indicator if it will be more likely to break.
Download a little at a time and not in bulk. Boot the game, test the mods.
Join relevant discords (not here because here sucks for support)
And again, make sure to read. Cant stress that enough. Most people don’t and end up in the support channels within minutes or hours after installing…asking questions that are answered on the mod pages, changelogs, or wikis for the mods.

So I have a bit of a modding issue that I can't quite get rid of...
I downloaded Vortex from Nexus Mods, and I installed BepInEx as well as initially only the Quick Stack - Store- Sort - Trash - Restock mod. This initially gave me an issue with BepInEx saying could not load preloader something with untripped_colorlib.
After a bit of googling, I found that I had to update the start_game_bepinex.sh file, and comment the line: export DOORSTOP_CORLIB_OVERRIDE_PATH="$BASEDIR/unstripped_corlib"
Which I did, and that resolved the issue.
Now today I installed two more mods:
Top Mining and ConfigurationManager.
All downloaded through Vortex.
And immediately the BepInEx did the same issue could not load preloader stuff.
So I went back into the files, and found the start_server_bepinex.sh file that had a similar line. I commented that out, and the issue was gone. But the mods didn't work.
So I uninstalled the configurationmanager mod, and again. BepInEx could not load preloader
The only other option I found was the doorstop_config.ini file, that had a dll search for the unstripped_colorlib which I commented out as well, and once again. BepInEx didn't have the issue again.
Now I reinstalled ConfigurationManager, and once again.... could not load preloader in BepInEx...
So now I come here and wonder what the heck I am doing wrong and what can I do to fix this?

Additional note:
After reinstalling configurationmanager, and loading up the game again after once again fiddling around in the doorstop_config.ini the game does say 3 plugins are loaded, but they don't seem to work all thre. Only the very first mod I installed
- Uninstall Vortex or keep it if you use it for other games but delete anything related to Valheim.
- Reinstall Valheim to get a clean copy.
- Download Thunderstore/r2modman mod manager.
- Make a profile for Valheim and subscribe to BepinEx and all the mods you want.
- Play the game.
Is vortex creating issues with Valheim BepInEx?
Most mods on Nexus just are outdated as many of the authors no longer upload there and just upload to thunderstore. It's why most of us will suggest using thunderstore, larger selection of mods that have been updated for the current version of the game.

Hello guys. I've been playing with blueprints lately and I seem to have an issue intalling the Zip files when they are downloaded in that form. All .vbuild and .blueprint show up fine. But I cant wrap my head around extracting them properly. Advice?
They are essentially just text files. Un zip them as you would any other files and use the unzipped files.

Make sure you're putting the unzipped files in the same folder as the other regular .blueprint files. Also, you'll need restart the game after putting any new blueprint files in there.

Anyone know if I'm using the mod wrong, or if the mod is just not working?
The mod is called: AutoPickupIgnorer, and according to the thunderstore webpage of that mod, I'm supposed to remove the # before the item I wish to ignore. and then use the ' to toggle between ignore all, ignore custom, and default ignore. Where default ignore is the vanilla auto pickup from the game, then ignore all speaks for itself, and the custom ignore is where it should pickup eveerything except for the items I removed the # for.
However, testing this with resin, and setting it to custom ignor, it still picks up resin?

Check your log files to make sure you're getting a good install of the mod with no errors.
It seems like you are following the mod's installation and usage instructions but double check the config file to make sure there isn't a syntax error there when removing the # for the items you want to ignore.
Then, try using it with one or two other items as well as a test.
is the only fix to ride a 5 star lox to reduce its size when using CLLC ? its like the lox is stuck

There's several of those at thunderstore.io. Just search for 'carry weight', or something similar.
You can choose whichever one fits your preferences. Just make sure it's updated for the Ashlands game version.

Locate the server's Adminlist file in the same folder as it's world saves.
Add your SteamIDs into that file one ID per line. The SteamID is the one that's 17 numeric digits long.

Hey guys, is there a reason why I can’t cook fish meat? It says you only need one of the fish shown in the crafting menu to actually craft a cooked fish, but it won’t let me at all.
I do use Valheim plus by Grantapher, so is there a possibility this could be why?

Should be crafting raw fish at the cauldron that you can then cook over the fire. Might have a mod changing how that works, but I didn't think V+ did that

There’s not setting in the mod about it from what I’ve seen, and I don’t have any issues with other foods

Hadn't played since before Ashlands but it seems something changed with either mods or vanilla devcommands and fly no longer no-clips? Specifically trying to fly under terrain. Just stopping on contact with the ground now. Not sure if it was a change with the debug commands or some old mod is interfering.
I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have Valheim on gamepass. I am running a dedicated server in my basement. I can get bepinex working on single play games and mods to work. When I do the dedicated server it looks like it’s working but none of the plugins work once into the game. Can anyone help.
Can you no-clip through structures but just not terrain?
If by structures you mean pre-gen instances like dungeons, no. I can fly up to them (slowly, speed controls seem to be removed) but the walls themselves are impassable.

Won't know for a few days. Bepin was out of date, grabbed the latest install off github, but hadn't done a diagnostic start yet.
I suspect something's out of date or broken. It's probably easier to just use r2modman to manage the mods. Makes it a lot quicker and easier to find any that are causing problems.

Hey there, trying to play modded for the 1st time; now the game doesn't start anymore. I installed r2modman, BepInExPack through that and TerrainReset manually by pasting it in the /plugins folder. I also added the line "/home/marcus/.config/r2modmanPlus-local/Valheim/linux_wrapper.sh" %command% in Steam.

Eventually, you may want to add " -console" at the end of your Steam launch options. But that should not be preventing the game from running.
The compatibility optons should be in the game's properties menu. Right click on the game in your Steam library and choose Properties. You should see it there.

The Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (Scout) compatibility layer is working for me but I have a different distro.

Check your log for errors. It's in the BepInEx folder.
Possibly try another current mod as a test.
You should be seeing Info msgs in the BepInEx log showing mods that it's loading and/or errors for that.
The BepInEx folder should be sitting in your
/home/UserName/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Valheim
folder, if you got it installed right.
For me it sits in ~/-confiug/r2modmanPlus-local/Valheim/profiles/Default
But it's working, now just the console command from the mod does not.

I think that mod is broken. Use another terrain modifier instead.

dirty hoe is great to reset terrain its hold alt and left click mouse
ctrl and mouse wheel up will increase radius it also give you a speed boost if you want to run away 🙂

Quite a few. Just depends on which exactly you're looking for in terms of how they increase your max carry limit.
Some buff the belt, some buff the player, some give backpacks that allow carrying more etc.
Right, still having this issue of no-clip not toggling with fly active. No console messages. Can fly through neither terrain nor structures, player-made or natural.
Bepin's up to date as far as I can tell; so was server devcommands, though I also tried with just the vanilla devcommands and got the same result
I seem to recall maybe one or two options in the ServerDevcommands config file relating to flying and clipping, etc. You could take a look there and see if anything applies.
Sidenote, if anyone uses a custom audio plugin, I recommend disabling dump to console. Gets really spammy with the sfx cues :V

Hi guys, I'm looking for some help with an issue I'm having while playing on my friends modded dedicated server. I am the only person on the server having the issue, so I don't believe it's a mod conflict of any kind, but I was directed here to ask for help. The issue is that when I attempt to move items from my inventory to a chest or workbench inventory (mod), the items won't go, they appear in the storage for a moment and then poof back into my characters inventory. What is worse is sometimes they just straight up disappear. The only error being thrown is

One of your mods is not updated for the latest version, I assume it's a chat mod.
All of us download the same mods and mod versions via an r2modman code tho, so if that were the problem wouldn’t everyone on the server be having the same issue?

The PTB is all about testing the vanilla game's next patch. Throwing mods into the mix makes the test invalid and useless.

It's only me and another dude, but whenever two of us are in the same region I lag way too much, doesn't matter if he's there first or me which is weird. I tried the better networking mod but it doesn't work, could crossplay enabled be the culprit? If there are any other mods that help with this please let me know
I heard crossplay networking sucks so it's better to disable it if you're not using it.
Mods that might help: Smoothbrain-Network and Comfy-Returntosender together, both installed on the server and all clients.
And the 3rd one Smoothbrain-CombatOwner-1.0.0 goes on all clients but not server.

You may try a free proxy service or if you're already using and paying for a vpn, some of them allow port forwarding so you can skip the router altogehter.

That only happens if you travel really fast so the terrain generation can't keep up.

The server also is set to Player Based Raids
The problem we have is that we are still getting only Eiktyr level raid, and we are in Iron Age. My guess is that the issue is with either VentureValheim - World_Advancement_Progression or VentureValheim - Venture_Location_Reset, where the keys are not stored or recalled properly.
In WorldAdvancementProgression, there are config settings for keys. Global keys are default blocked, and private keys are not.
Thank you. I did look at that, but doesnt this mean (if I disable UsePrivateRaids) that we would default to global key, ie as I understand it new player would be attacked by highest level raids as well? I'd like players to be raided by the appropriate level raid to them
Maybe i just misunderstand this...
I used a combination of this mod and world modifier to get this effect. I feel like the private keys on the mod sometimes didn't work, especially in groups, but maybe I'm just not doing it right, so I set UsePrivateKeys = false and BlockAllGlobalKeys = false then used the world modifier for player raids.

Don't play on PTB with mods as they need to be updated
You are able to change that in the config editor for the mod
If you're gonna play with mods, don't report bugs, as you are not meant to play a modded public test
If you're a modded player just wait for PTB to end. Do you really want the potentially unstable and likely to change PTB stuff messing up your world and character saves?
I've recently returned to Valheim, added some mods and have been trying it out. All seems well, but I've crashed twice and don't know why. I don't remember where the crash happened the first time, but this last time, I was paused and working with the BepinEX Configuation mod and that's when the crash happened. It looks like my log went before this explanation 🙂

No because PTB incremented your world and character version and they're not backwards compatible
if you want your game back to the live version you need to wait for the patch you play on ptb go on the live version

If it's a game supported by thunderstore.io, you could use their r2modman. It makes it a lot easier to manage your mods. Make sure you choose mods that have been currently updated for the current version of your game.

Hey. I need some advice. I noticed that this unofficial Valheim Plus is not compatible with many mods I've used before, like Creature and Loot Control or Extended Inventory. Is there a way to fix this? Or should I just ditch Valheim Plus in favor of those mods? Is there any alternative? How did you manage it? I haven't played in a while. I also have a server, so it needs to work online too.
