I've seen a 50 star mob corrupt the zone it was in. It was extremely difficult to restore the area. It's first hand experience.

I wasn't there to make a list of his mods. Only to clean up his world. Which I did.
The 50 star wolf was killed at his main base. After dropping 50X his loot, anyone going near his main base crashed the server. I removed the loot, reset the zone and the world and his main base was clean.
For some reason I thought you meant like player save file corruption.
That makes sense that there was literally too many items in the area to handle
I happened over two year ago. I don't know if the game has gotten more resistant to that kind of corruption or not. There's a good possibility one or another of the patches since then has made instance counts less critical. I really don't know.

Yes, you can use modifiers, but it's tricky. Involves downloading world saves, changing modifiers, and reuploading them back to server.

I think it's default_old - previous stable.
But saves are not backwards compatible, if you loaded the world with the ptb enabled, you can't get it back unless you have backups from before PTB
Your best choice in that case would be to just wait until it goes live and mods are updated accordingly
I had some issues as well that Iβve since resolved. Plant everything and farm grid by nexus were causing my console to not function properly.

If you like the gear grind and progression aspect of the game "Adventure Backpacks" is great, otherwise just "Backpack" if you only want to craft one for the whole game and upgrade it

Missing Method indicates you installed an old outdated mod. Anything from 2022 or older is more likely to be broken, so start there
Outdated mod. Looks like something that offered gamepad support. It may also have displayed keyhints on your screen as well because localization is included in the stack trace.
Hi guys, just a quick question: I am trying to export my profile in r2modman, but I get an error saying that the profile is too large. When I look through the config folder, it seems that Seasonality is using the config folder to store its 800mb of custom textures... is this right?

Very few mods (if at all) works on PTB.
Regarding updates, EpicLoot is maintained still, but you never know if a mod gets updated after a game update. Best advice is to track mods on your preferred mod-hub, and take notice of witch authors are active and not.
A lot of mods work on PTB, unless it's you saying don't play modded on PTB.
Well, you can see it like that. But with over 2700 mods on Nexus alone (I don't bother counting other sites), I don't think "a lot of" them works on PTB. But if 2 mods are "a lot", we have different standards.
Yeah, because most abandoned Nexus so it makes sense a lot of mods doesn't work from there.
Thunderstore is the place to get Valheim mods as that's where the biggest authors hangs out.
Still, a lot of mods work just fine on PTB so it's simply false that very few or none at all works.

Even worse that authors even bother to update their mods to PTB instead of waiting for live release
You can export as a file, and upload it to MEGA then share link, but it's obviously not as user friendly.
An option: export a file for yourself, and create a duplicate profile. Within that profile delete the Seasonality config. Now you should be able to share it, and anyone that uses it the code, when they launch, will populate a new Seasonality config folder.
At least, that's what I've done with MinimalUI, contains ZIPs for backgrounds that made it too large to export. I can't promise Seasonality will be the same way, but worth a shot for the convenience.
Now that I think about it, you could just move the folder from your cfg, export code, then move them back into place.

Yea, then I would try just moving it from your config folder, export code, then shove it back in. In the event it doesn't populate for who you give it to, they could just manually download it from Thunderstore and paste it in their config.

Did a fresh reinstall, only mods enabled are Bepinex and CustomTextures, emptied the textures map to see if that would help but it didn't.. i'm at my end of options

Pretty sure that one of your mods is old or broken. You'll have to find it and remove it or update it. How many mods are you using?

Bad luck... You'll have to trouble shoot it by disabling or removing a few mods at a time and testing your game in order to find the offending mod(s). Good luck with it! I know it's frustrating. π

Has anyone else been experiencing this? ServerCharacters mod, the CharacterTemplate.yml file on one of my servers isn't currently working. It used to work perfectly, but now just doesn't seem to want to load and I'm getting this error message. I removed everything from the CharacterTemplate except ArmorLeatherLegs, and I'm still not able to load it.

Does anyone know how I can add my own mobs or current mobs from latest patch in expertmode to be adjustable?
When sharing a mod profile to friend from thunderstore mod manager, how do the configs work? if i have done some configuration on mod x, then send a profile for my friend to download, does that configuration also port over or does it mater at all?
The configurations do port over to your friend. And, it does matter, if you want him to receive the config changes you've customized. π

Adding on to Jaga, this also includes UI changes and such. As an example, my code put other's hotbar off-screen because of screen size differences. Something to consider before you think it broke.

One of my 2 star boars survived my brother being afk when we got raided by slimes / oozes. not sure if it was the one I tamed, the rest was all made by breeding, they all died.

In order to 'move' the table, you don't need to delete it and recreate it. You could also actually move it instead using InfinityHammer or you could copy/paste the table and the upgrade components using PlanBuild. π

Yes, two separate mods. Both have a bit of a learning curve you'll want to play with them on a test world as well as read their instructions & documentation carefully.
Once you get familiar with them the extra time in learning to use them will reward you well with future projects, too.
Does Server Dev Commands mod mess up the LeftShift key for anyone else?
It seems to mess with the LShift Build Rotation Hotkey & also messes with the Mass Farming mods LShift + mousewheel rotation hotkey
IIRC, you can change those key bind assignments in the mod's config files when one or another of the keys interfere with other mod functions.
Well, I did change the hotkey in the MassFarming mod, but I would like to change it in the ServerDevCommands. However I do not see any config options for ServerDevCommands that deal with LShift.
Is it in the BepInEx binds cfg?
I don't think you can change it in either ServerDevcommands or the BepInEx.cfg. Which mod are you using that controls the LShift Build Rotation? You may be able to change it there.
Also, look at the key binds using the console command "printbinds". And if it shows up in there you can probably change it with the binds/unbind commands.
the LShift Build Rotation is just a Vanilla bind.

I don't know of anything else to try. I often have to swap key binds around between mods to make them more usable but I've never run into a situation where I couldn't eventually get them settled into a workable mode. I'm out of ideas. Sorry.
Pick up a configuration manager mod, then in game hit F1. In search bar lookup "shift," "bind," or "hotkey." It will search all your mods configs and show just the matches. Might help narrow that down.
Thanks, but I tried that and there's nothing out of the ordinary bound to LeftShift. Just the MassFarming mod.
It's confusing why ServerDevCommands interferes with vanilla shift +mwheel build rotation & mass farming shift + mwheel rotation.

I can't say I've ever experienced that with devcomm either.
Infinity Hammer uses Left Shift + Mouse wheel for scaling.
If you have it installed, change that binding.
If you have installed it at some point, check binds.yaml and remove it from there.
I dont have that mod. I've actually got a small amount of mods (32 total).
Mass Farming is the only mod that uses LeftShift + Mouswheel other than the default Build Rotation

I don't think so. The best way to use mods is to load them one at a time and then play the game with them for a few minutes to see how they behave.
Is the EquipmentAndQuickSlots mod working for ashlands?
I know mods and beta don't usually mesh well, but this is the only one I truly care about

I installed the Comfy Gizmo mod and changed it's hotkey from LeftShift to LeftCtrl and now everything works fine.
Still odd that DevCommands broke it, but at least adding Comfy Gizmo fixed it. π

Does mod epic loot affects performance?
it's much better than it was, but still has room for optimization. Though I dont see the mod being re-written from the ground up to apply better methods, there was efforts made to fix broken parts of the mod that were causing huge performance issues. Jewelcrafting mod was sort of made as an alternative and is profiled/reviewed for performance often.

There are efforts being made to clean EpicLoot up in advance of Ashlands release. Unsure what performance improvements that may come with if any.
Can anyone help me with Valhost mod support? I am just trying to install ServerDecommands. I have checked it on valhost website, and downloaded it and its dependancies on r2modman. But when trying to join my dedicated server with them it will not let me join.

I have added it to my R2modman as well as its dependencies (bepin) and run it with those loaded through R2

Yes, that's the Steam64D. You just need the 17 numbers but the Steam_ preface with it will work, too.
You can try removing the ServerDevcommands from the server and restart it. Having it loaded on your game with the Steam ID in the server's adminlist should be enough to use the mod in game.
Also, you can use the geekstrom.de/valheim/check website to make sure that the server is up and running ok.
I was able to run it this morning before I downloaded the mod and turned off crossplay. Cool I will try these steps as well. Thanks for the help
Yeah so strange, I switched the server back to crossplay and was able to join. But when crossplay is disabled, even when launching vanilla from steam I am not able to join the dedicated server
Sounds nice! I admit, Jewelcrafting is nice but I miss EpicLoot, and for some reason Terraheim bugs when I use it with Jewelcrafting.

When you enable crossplay for your game or your server, it means that all comm traffic for the games and server must go through the MS playfab network directly. There is no traffic between the games and server except for through that network.
This means that without crossplay the server's ports must be forwarded to the server's PC via your home router's port forwarding option. With crossplay the port forwarding isn't necessary.
With a remotely hosted server, the hosting company should take care of the server's port forwarding. And without crossplay, you will no longer have a Join Code to use to connect to the server. Players need to connect via the server's IP address instead, until you get the server added to your Favorites tab in the game's start up server list.
And, when adding or removing crossplay, you need to restart the game or server and it may take a couple minutes before you can connect.

We would have to change the server port because of that annoying Valheim bug when you turn off crossplay, or you can wait a couple hours and it will fix itself eventually

I can't help troubleshoot but if it's a recent issue it could be related to a mod update or a mod you added. Timmask thing was a joke from another videogame
I've not used it, so I can't say for sure how well it works, but there's Sounds of Silence that allows you to silence select sounds. Grab audio name from Bep console when it triggers, I think.

strange question but I was helping walk another player through why they might not be able to upgrade a lighting mace from lvl1 to lvl2. everything checked out but the only thing that stood out was the fact that the mace was made on a server by their friend. has anyone else tried to upgrade a friend's made weapon and couldn't?
So Iβve ran into an issue with cooking food. Whenever I cook food Iβd say about 20% of the time it will make the stats something crazy like 3.945836E+09. I think something is screwing with my smoothbrains cooking mod but canβt find the mod causing this. Was odd because it worked just fine on the ptb but not the normal version. Any insight would be epic
Did you have the crafting menu pulled up (i.e. cooking in cauldron) when you ate? Happened to people on my server before and anti-cheat booted them out, that was about the only thing anyone could think of.
Unfortunately it just crafts it with insane numbers no matter if I stay in the cauldron or not. Me and the guys can throw the food to eachother and it goes back to normal numbers so k suppose Iβll wait till the Ashlands update comes around. Thanks though!

In this case, RRRMonsters only have a json file for RRRcore?

Anyone have an idea why I cant rotate with Gizmo? When I use (ctrl/alt) modifiers and scroll it says "This object does not scale" or something to that effect. Also the geometry of whatever Item it is changes slightly when I press one of the modifier keys
There are several 'Gizmo' mods on thunderstore.io so make sure you've got a recent one. I use ComfyGizmo without problems. If you need to, you can try changing the key binds. Change the Left Ctrl and Left Alt to the Right Ctrl and Right Alt keys.
I imagine you also have Infinity Hammer? It uses a hotkey to scale objects, might be bound over Gizmo.
Hotkey conflict with InfinityHammer/ServerDevCommands etc.

No, normal. using 0.15, when i load into my server it says incompatable version
both me and the server has the same mods installed
I'd suggest use your Steam client to re-verify the server and game files. And check the Beta options there to confirm that they're the same for both server and game.
not in a beta server is a fresh one from gportal and i removed all my mods prior to plan build

We are using Epicloot mod but the enchanting table is click through, so we can't select anything there. Anyone knows how to fix?

Nowadays it's easier to use a modmanager like r2modman. It keeps your mods in a separate location than in your Valheim folder, and you can have multiple profiles for playing on different servers. But also, it should be Valheim/Bepinex/plugins.
Personally, I would delete the entire BepinexPack_Valheim folder, and then download this to use: https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/ebkr/r2modman/
Your folder structure aren't the same as mine. Are you sure that every mod you have are the latest and it works with 0.217.46?

you can go to settings > show dependency strings to see a list of your addons, copy paste it here I guess

Use the one on Valheim thunderstore as that is the one that almost all mods compile against. Newer versions of BepInEx might have compatibility issues with mods targeting older versions.

Hello Hitch, I had to do exactly that to keep playing with some of the mods I have. I also had to revert back to a save from yesterday before the update as the latest save had been corrupted. I hope this helps.
heya i've been playing modded on a server hosted by me and out of nowhere we were unable to eat food anymore, did anyone enoucnter anything like this? same issue happens in single player

well, being it's a very small list, you could try disabling them one by one till the issue goes away, that might help identify the problem.
that's what im trying currently ig there are the warfare and armory mods but disabling those would break my world haha

the mod has been abandoned, so it's best to find something else.
Valheim Plus (by Grantapher) is a remake of the mod that was fixed for Mistlands, but valheimplus not his mod so we can't expect him to maintain it.

Jewelcrafting was updated today with new ashlands content, can be setup much like epicloot. I understand it's a bit of configuration, but out the box it's made to extend gameplay, not shorten it with welfare drops.
I'm not that experienced with mods, just relaying what I learned when I asked the question

there is a lot of mods that need updates still, so for now, the best option for most might be to make a new mod profile in R2modman if they use it, download mods that have been updated or play vanilla for a bit.
Over the next few weeks there will be lots of mod updates, if you're sure a mod is broken, try hitting up the author (they sometimes list contact info on the mod page), ask them if they are working on an update.
hay how to get god mode
there are quite a few mods that didnt run into errors from the update, but just have to add things one at a time and check the console as you go to find what mods work.
open the Console, F5, type devcommands, then enter. type god, then enter.
Right click "Valheim" in your steam library. Go to properties. Under "Launch Properties" at the bottom type "-console" in the box without the quotes. Launch the game.
At any time while in the game press F5 to open the console window.
Type "devcommands" without quotes in the console window then press <enter> to toggle dev commands.
To use debug mode make sure devcommands are enabled. Type "debugmode" without quotes to toggle debugmode.
With debugmode enabled you should be able to enter any console command.

Get this constantly at a speed you cant read anything when ProtectiveWards is enabled. Anyone know if there's a setting in the mod that can be disabled to stop this and allow stamina to start regenerating again?

The best way to troubleshoot mods though is join one of the main modding discords, they all use a bot that can review the log file and point out issues.

Hm, most of my mods are updated for Ashlands. Some are disabled that currently cause issues and the few with no extra Ashland updates but no obviously issues are each disabled for testing. However...
Any mod that adds a pieces with custom category that hasn't been updated.
It might still load but needs to be recompiled with new menu fix.
my game has weird fps drops
like i get drops from 60 to 40 while my gpu,cpu and RAM usage isn't even at max
does anyone has problem running map after update? i have some mods and now i spawned in my world floating with horse equiped ( dont know why), it says equiping sword all the time, cannot move or do nothing, in eq i have nothing i had. all i can see is some error with harmony that i dont know what it is and what it do. should i wait for update or try add mods again one by one?
Make sure you save a recent world backup separately so it doesn't get over written. And, then wait for update and/or try adding mods again one by one?
what injector you are using? bepinex or vortex or something else? i dont know what is best now

It's much better. Nexusmods.com just isn't great with Valheim.

If you use r2modman to start up the game, and you should, then it will look in it's own profile folder for the mods. So when you have a manual mod or two to add, add the external mod manually inside r2modman so that it gets into the r2modman profile folder properly. π

What, exactly, happens when you try to join the server with the main world on your server? Error msg? Screwed up world?
When you're just getting a loading picture and a Loading symbol, you probably aren't waiting long enough. It can take many LONG minutes to load a built up world under certain circumstances. Short version: if you don't get kicked out or get an error msg just let it keep working on it.

The ability to deconstruct with cultivator isn't enabled for the naturally occurring decorative flora, otherwise you could run around and deforest an area for quick easy wood

I am having an issue getting structure tweaks to run on indifferentbroccolli ded server. Any ideas? All other mods are working but this one says incompatible version and I have made sure the version on my desktop and the version on the server are the same.
They're the same as the naturally occurring ones. If those have a weirdly high amount of health I hadn't noticed, but I'll look into it
Its the same for the little trees that can be placed, small plains tree etc.
My guess is that its cuz of getoffmylawn as its set to prevent structure shattering.
The default trees and plants outside can be 1 tapped by a axe, not the placed ones though
Wow it is definitely from getoffmylawn. It is setting the health to an absurdly high amount.
Best I can do is make a config option to toggle the ability to remove any piece placed with the mod. I'll add it in next update.

I used to use ItemDrawers to scoop up things dropped to water too deep to reach. That mod has always been a bit janky, but seems fully brokejn in the new update. AzuAutoStore doesn't seem to have the same capability to scoop any item of a type in a range and pull it to a box.
Anyone know of a mod to do this type of area sweep up? It's not an always on thing for me, just for project cleanup.

No. Sometimes I use build camera to break things that are deep in another structure. I don't want to be required to go to the item. Also, I don't want to enable underwater walking / breathing. I know of those mods, and they are not what I'm looking for.

What about AutoStore isn't working for you? Have you changed the range for the chest you want in the yml? There is also a toggle for needing existing item in chest first.

Ello. I'm new to modding Valheim and have been experimenting with the Better Creative mod. Love it. Except it appears that I'm permanently stuck in creative mode. Is there a way to fix that or toggle it off?

Solo game
F5 console command "nocost" toggles creative mode. Do a "devcommands" command first. You may have to add -console to your Steam Library's game launch commands.

I'm on linux using linuxgsm and after installing bepinex and Valheimplus the server wouldn't start anymore. I uninstalled the mods, but bepinex seems to have overwritten some of my files and now it gives me the following error:
[ FAIL ] Starting vhserver: executable was not found
- /home/vhserver/serverfiles/start_server_bepinex.sh
Any idea how I can fix the server trying to start the nonexistent shell file?
You might have to reinstall it. I think the .sh file got accidently deleted when the mods were removed.
You could check your trash bin for it, I guess.

They're safe i their own directory. It's in the AppDir folder somewhere. I'm not on Linux right now but I'll see if I can find the exact location for you...

the original start-server.sh is still there, but it's trying to start the start_server_bepinex.sh which is gone
The world and character files are in /home/UserID/.config/unity3d/IronGate/ValheimServer or something close to that. Look for a worlds or a worlds_local folder for the worlds files.

Do a fresh install. It shouldn't affect your worlds or character at all.

Try the #xbox-bugs-discussion channel. They're usually pretty good with anything about Xbox or gamepass.

You can put your .sh files elsewhere while you do the install so that you have them later if you need them. But the whole idea of a reinstall is to get a new server. It's the .sh files that customize it to your preferences.
I found the fix, for protocol: I went into /home/vhserver/lsgm/config-lsgm/vhserver/vhserver.cfg and deleted the very last line
executable="./start_server_bepinex.sh"
And it works again
sadly, messing with the configs didn't get me anywhere and reinstalling won't either, so it's back to square one.

My three Linux servers are all running fine with BepInEx and a mixture of mods. However, I don't use LGSM to install the servers. I prefer to keep it simple.
The valheim BepInEx mod loader on thunderstore.io is up to date and currently working fine.

You have to install BepInEx correctly, following the intstuctions on it's thunderstore.io site. If you put it in the wrong folder, it won't work.

i built large guild hall in ashlands on a friends server pre release of ashlands, we went over there and the terrain fell out from under it, i want to use the terrain tool but it is disabled on his server for people who arnt him, any idea on how to enable it?
get him to send you the World File
load it as a local instance and fix it
send him the world file back
ask him for the file
he's your friend .. shouldn't be an issue
then put it in the folder with your world files

I would ust say you have a mod conflict of some sort. The last time I had this particular effect was when Bone a petit was in need of an update after the Hidir patch if I remember correctly. The mod was updated and no more issues.

I found nice spot to build a base but i wanted to have cave around my base.
So i decided to spawn one via command spawn_location (cave name).
Then via command hammer duplicate it and build it where i want.

It's what you call weird, but Azu's wear and tear patches can do exactly that. Or at least set no damage to buildings. To actually give buildings unlimited health, you need to handle Infinity Hammer or something like it.

Wackys Database let's you customize or clone any prefab. Even chest sizes. But a large learning curve to use it properly.

For example, you want to change wood chest size. In game you'll open console, input "wackydb_save_piece piece_chest" and it will add it to a folder in configs. Open that file, scroll to container, which will be 2x5, and edit to whatever you want, say 4x8

Start typing wacky and it should autofill. Try wackydb_all_pieces. It'll just grab all your pieces and we can go from there.

But stars starts at 1 on the left, and loot starts at zero.
So, the 2nd slot under stars is 2-star, the 3rd slot under loot is the 2-star, but want to define it as 1-star

You plant the AshVine saplings and they grow into the vines that have berries
That's a vanilla thing. I enhanced with a second type of ashvine with customizable colors that only appear for clients with the mod. They will appear as normal red ashvines to unmodded clients.

You'll see it by default as a green version of the ashvine sapling unless you change it in the config under the [Vines] category

So I take it once I get the seeds, they arent gonna be plantable as repickable plants? π
The saplings attach to a nearby wall within 1.8m when they mature and those new vines then begin to produce berries (which respawn with time) as well as spread

The implementation by IronGate seems a little buggy though. Sometimes the vines destroy themselves or the berries just disappear. There is also a limit to how many berries can spawn within a certain distance around existing berries

No I'm still using their vine prefab and logic I just store color data on them when placed and the mod recolors them accordingly
I just noticed while testing that the ashvines in general behave in unexpected ways
I'm hoping they fix it up in time as the kinks are ironed out or I'll have to take some time to experiment with the 1000 variables that govern their spread and find a better formula

If this is anything like we've been going thru, it's mods with location manager in general, not just Therzies. Pick up the mod ManagerDetector and load game, will tell you others using the location manager.
That's weird... it didn't when I was testing them on PTB. I was even placing the pickable fiddlehead and then the ferns underneath them. I'll look into it.

That version hasn't been updated for Ashlands. The texturepacks have to be built for the specific version of the game, since they replace vanilla's game files.

Nope. Willy's working on putting a temporary version out with a handful of HD ashland textures. But it's not a painless process for him hehe.
The new asset loading system has made that method of texture replacing immensely difficult and time consuming. Instead of replacing like 8 files he now needs to replace somewhere over 1000 probably (haven't actually counted). The files are an annoying type to work with as well.

Re-verify your game files. And take note of what versions it telling you are incompatible. If you can't figure it out, put in a ticket with the host.

Not really a mod issue, but perhaps someone has a suggestion. Our modded server has been upgraded to Ashlands and now we have a few nice buildings in Mist and Ash that are floating above water. They are warded so aren't collapsing. Building up ground with hoe won't work. Is there a good way to add land underneath via admin cmd? I'm testing Upgrade_World options, but haven't quite gotten a good solution.
I ended up finding out which mod it was, it's "CustomizeAltars", in case anyone else is having the same problem. I'll try to notify the owner.

Get rid of SlimVL loader, don't use Vortex and use r2modman
so i just uninstall vortex? i got rid of that slim folder in my steam\common\valheim
also i cant seem to download newest ver of valheim bepinex, already failed multiple times throughout the day
For Valheim you cannot use Vortex and if you don't use it for other games then uninstall it.
You might need to reinstall Valheim too as Vortex ruins the game folder.
Then simply get r2modman, make a profile, get BepinEx and mods.

Load order is handled by BepInEx or specified within mods by mod authors where necessary. If the game is crashing on world creation, the issue is being caused by 1 or more mods.

However, if after disabling them you still have problems, the only way to go is to disable all, then turn on one by one and check devcommands. It's long and boring, but that's what it takes

No issue, and hope you'll manage to find it fast! Remember to not load your primary world with all mods disabled, otherwise pieces will disappear and never reappear afterwards (unless you do a world file backup first)

Hello all - I posted about a month ago looking for some help troubleshooting a Unity crash error on startup that's probably related to mods I installed and then attempted to remove (likely improperly) to revert my game to vanilla, and I haven't been able to find whichever leftover files are causing the problem. If you want Valheim plus use Grantapher's version, it should have a craft from containers feature included it in I think, if not AzuCraftyBoxes

If all your mods have an issue with dependencies it's likely you didn't download the bepinex pack?

You should always install mods with dependencies, then the mod manager just handles it for you... are you installing from inside the app?

Hey again (apologies for the VERY long post) - still trying to get past repeated Unity crashes on launch of Valheim. Basic situation is: played vanilla for 2 years no issues. 2 months ago I installed some mods, got them to work but decided I liked vanilla, but after trying to remove the mods I now cannot launch the game even to the menu. I see the windowed game as it tries to launch, then gives me the same Unity error code (screenshot attached).
I've tried the whole list of standard fixes, reinstalls, a few different ways of reverifying files, changing the game installation directory, changing the Steam installation directory, updated every imaginable driver, launched in Vulkan (no luck), and others that I'm not remembering right now. My PC definitely clears the recommended specs, I'm using Nvidia driver 552.44 (latest game-ready driver for a GTX 1060 6GB), I've set my BIOS to the optimized settings for any hardware issues, and the only remaining common issue is some mods existing somewhere on my PC. I've manually searched for and deleted every mod and Bepinex file I had installed previously but the game still crashes. I had the idea of reinstalling BepinEx to see if that would help with a proper launch if some mod files still exist somewhere, but since I've done a clean reinstall of the game and can't do a first-time launch, I believe I read there are some important files that don't populate without being able to launch, and I also can't turn down the graphics setting through GeForce Experience without having launched the game at least once.
Based on Event Viewer it seems like the issue is the UnityPlayer.dll (screenshot attached), but I dont know how to read the specific error codes and am having some trouble with only basic Google skills. I've also attached my player.log and crash.dmp files from the latest launch attempt (non-Vulkan). A few people in here have been very helpful but I seem to keep running into the same wall, and I'm not sure where to go next.
The "PlantEverything" mod says it's Client side and server side, I don't believe it would be possible for me to use this without anyone else having it no?

I am using it both on client-side (my local game) and server-side (playing with friends on unmodded server) and it works fine on both
It works as a client side mod to plant any of the additional resources, and since they are vanilla prefabs, unmodded clients can see and interact with them too

Sorry to @ you directly but I'm looking into this thread you pointed me toward last month. I've also done a full delete and clean reinstallation of my graphics driver, and was considering following the advice of the reply in this thread that said deleting their NVCache (mine is now empty after clean reinstall) and D3DSCache folders fixed the issue. Is it safe to delete the contents of the D3DS? What are some possible adverse effects?

If I'm not able to launch the game to populate the files that are downloaded when you launch the first time, would I still be able to install Bepinex and try to launch? I'm getting Unity crash errors likely related to leftover mods but the Bepinex install video I'm watching says launching the game at least once is required to install Bepinex
sorry i am not able to help but i am experiencing the same thing. A friend said that he had to remove all files from his computer to fix the problem but has not discovered a fix for this outside of this suggestion and has not followed through to see if it will fix the issue. Please if you find something post and tag me cause i keep finding dead ends.
holy shit. I won't lie the thought has occurred to me but it simply is not worth it to hard wipe my computer just to play this game again. that is completely insane. I'm making a post on Reddit about it right now since nobody here seems to be able to figure it out, I'll let you know if I find anything that works.

I guess I couldnt really tell if the game was working for you without mods, or if you're getting crashes/unity errors and what not just opening the game.
Sorry, it's a long story I've told so many times in my attempt to troubleshoot this and sometimes I forget important details. I played the game in vanilla for about 2 years prior to trying mods with no issues. I even managed to launch with mods and play for a while before deciding to revert back to vanilla. The crashes began when I tried to uninstall/remove the mods. Ever since then I can't get the game to launch anymore, with the same Unity crash error every time I try and launch. No launch/performance errors with any other game on my PC.

@willow halo when did this happen for you? I noticed it right before the ashlands when to test servers.
I was testing out a little modpack a friend put together in early March, then when I tried to launch the game in mid-April after removing the mod files and Bepinex I started getting the same Unity crash window that happens every time I try and launch: "Valheim - Unity 2022.3.17f1_4fc78088f837". Googling it suggests its related to mods but I have tried everything under the sun with no luck so far, including closely following an exhaustive Reddit thread about crash issues (https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/uq9b8x/my_valheim_is_crashing_fix_for_crash_guide/)
do you r2modman or do you DL the mods and place them into the folder?
I use R2modman and dont have anything in the folder with the exception of bepin mod folder
I deleted every mod file, every file that referenced Bepinex, uninstalled and deleted R2 and Overwolf and every file related to them. I went back to the list of mods my friend sent me and manually searched for each of them across all three of my drives and none of them exist anymore.
I hate to ask the most basic question, but sometimes it's overlooked, you did delete the valheim folder in steam? let it verify the files and install?
You're good I know that's the first question you've got to ask - and yes, I've manually searched to make sure there aren't any random copies of my game folder left over from old installs.
The only files in the current game folder are the default ones listed in the reddit thread I linked above, only the vanilla build files
I just always start with that, go to steamapps and find the valheim folder and delete it, I dont even bother uninstalling and then use the verify game options in steam library>valheim>properties.
from there I create a new profile in R2modman, install at least one that I know that works and test.
Just to be clear I'm trying to launch the vanilla game
that solves most issues people might have with game crashes or not starting, but I assume you have done all that and on to looking into drivers and stuff - if launching vanilla then skip the part of loading one mod and go right to valheim
Yeah I've tried the standard reinstall as well as deleting the Valheim folder then reverifying to make sure it's a fully clean install.

I saw your player.log file, the issue mentioned there is an obscure Unity bug. I highly doubt having installed mods in the past is the problem, it's more likely that the game's Unity Engine updates, driver updates, Windows updates, or some other software/hardware change is to blame
