I've been playing with some friends (cross platform) but some of them have an issue - Most of the time, after they join the server, there is a massive lag and they end up getting disconnected. Any info that could help on this?

We used the same DNS for our networks (clouflare & google as alternative). Local server

Did you setup a dedicated server, or hosting from MS Store or Xbox platfrom from in-game options?
Crossplay can't work if the host or any client is behind strict NAT (VPN, CGNAT from carrier).
You can't connect locally with crossplay, as each client has to register on PlayFab server in US.

Hey, best to do a power cycle of the console first. Turning it off, unplugging the power cable for 30 sec, and turning it back one.
Then you would have to restore once of your previous saves via the manage saves button in the main menu.
You have to select world tab, expand the list of backups for your world, select the upper most auto-backup and then press restore button.

To reduce the chance of this happening again, you should always close Valheim app from the Xbox menu when you are done with your play session.
If you tend to play multiple hours, I would recommend logging out after 3-4 days 1h30min-2h, logoing out and closing the app via Xbox menu, then start the game again. Avoid manually saving if you don't have a specific reason. The game already saves on sleeping, logout, and every 30min if no other save has been initiated.

Hello, I have a problem, I can't play Valheim with my daughter, unfortunately her x box does not detect my server even though I entered the join code. I see a server created on X Box, but when connecting, an error occurs. my version is steam pc valheim patch 0.217.38
the x box version is Patch 0.217.39 and I don't know how to make the versions match

Mismatching versions is not an issue. Can that Xbox see other server in the community tab? (sometimes needs a minute to load them)
Also test connecting to one random server in community tab to see if you can reach password prompt.
It would also be good to perform NAT test, in the Xbox advanced network settings. Valheim won't work properly if your ISP put you behind strict NAT.

I did a NAT test and it turns out that the type is closed. I tried to join a random server and it worked

I would also advise doing the same test on your PC as well, just be sure to test a crossplay community server and not a Steam one (crossplay has an key icon + arrows icon at the end of the server row, and steam servers only have key icon).

If PC works, then the issue is almost certanly related to closed NAT, and you should put your efforts in opening it.
Best solution would be to call your internet service provider and request from them that they remove you from their CGNAT.
I have to call my ISP every 3 months or so and verbally request this, otherwise I would have to pay extra for it.
The issue can be worse if you also use an VPN on your PC.

Have a few questions for a community of gamers. Can pc and xbox still delete/lose a save file, beyond recovery? If no, is there an average play time roll back on recovery of save file in time? i.e. 5 minutes, 30minutes, 2 hours, based on auto save. Also can manual saving. too much still corrupt the save file on xbox?

Save related issues on PC are usually the same as on Steam, they happer very rarely, and are often connected to running the game when not having enough free storage or running having to little RAM (e.g. running two game, or having too many tabs opened in Chrome). Xbox is still problematic, because it's innately low on RAM, so yes, not keeping the game in quick play, keeping your play sessions up to 2h before restarting the game, and not spamming autosave is still advised. Once corruption does happen, at most you can lose 2h of progression (autobackup restoration), but if you notice the world being broken and you immediately quit the app (not log out), you can restore a more recent save (.old).

If you intend to play on a old gen Xbox console, it's better to play the game via Xbox Cloud gaming via gamepass ultimate subscription.

Did you remove some save prior to this issue happening? Or after, in attempt to fix it? In what way did you remove the saves?
When it comes to PC, gamingservices.exe is a proces that is responsibe for syncing saves from PC to Xbox Cloud, and then from Xbox Cloud back to PC or XBox. So you might want to repair that process. Valheim by itself doesn't handle syncing save files.

for w10 and English language, go to start → apps & features → type gaming services → advanced → repair

If that doesn't help, I recommend going here:
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\CoffeeStainStudios.Valheim_496a1srhmar9w\SystemAppData\wgs

and delete the wgs folder (those are cloud saves located on the pc, that need to be synced with the Xbox Cloud)

This will force your PC to download the what ever saves are in the Cloud upon next Valheim launch.

However you should launch it before you double check that you have enough room on all of your disks.

And I would also advise installing the game on your OS drive, and not G. I've seen few cases where people didn't have the necessary privelages on their other drives, which created some saving problems. Probably doesn't apply to your case, but until you solve it, I would recommed moving the game to C (assuming C drive is your OS drive).

You might want to think about moving your saves from Cloud to Local in manage saves menu, and delete all Cloud saves, until what ever issues is present with gamingservices is resolved.

When you delete Cloud saves via manage saves menu, upon game closing, gamingservices should sync that change to Xbox Cloud and delete them there, so keep the Xbox app and MS store app open until they finish doing that. I had some problems at times with Microsoft not performing that sync immediately, but like after an hour, for unknown reasons. I don't have this problem anymore.

Is Valheim installed on your Xbox also? Moving/deleting files is manage saves menu doesn't crete problems in general, so something is wrong in your specific case.

Yeah, might be something broken on their servers atm. I can't test mine (not at PC), but mine test would be on EU servers, and I'm assuming you're in US. There have been times when this happens, but usually more players report it at the same time.

It would be best to do a power cycle of your console (turn it off, unplug power cable for 30sec, plug it back it, turn the console one again). Then after launching Valheim, you would have to restore your previous world save by clicking on manage saves button in the starting menu → world tab → expand backups → select the top most autobackup → click restore button.

Do you remember how long was your last play session and how did you end it? (e.g. logout + console shutdown, or logout + console went to sleep on its own, or logoug + killed Valheim app in Xbox menu + console shutdown)

If you have an Discord app on your phone, you can just take a pic of your screen.
Xbox menu → settings → general → power options → customise power options

Also, do you keep your other games in quick resume mode while playing Valhiem? (if you specifically don't close your games from Xbox menu by selecting quit app, you probably have other games in quick access)
Do you have any other apps opened while playing Valhiem (e.g. Discord for communication)?

Hi, are you aware of the difference between in-game hosted server and a dedicated server? Dedicated servers, can't be hosted on Xbox consoles.
From the problem you described, it seems like you are hosting your world with in-game options (friend can't connect to server if you are not playing also).
When the freeze happens, have you tried just opening and closing Xbox menu? Some Xbox SX players have reported that helping.
Does it happen every time you try sleeping?
Generally, when this issues start to happen, I would recommend full console reset, as it's generally a sign some internal memory corrupted (instigated by Valheim, but not doesn't go away after Valheim gets uninstalled). Before that, you may also try doing power cycle on your console (turn off, unplug power cable for 30sec), and that alone might help.
Generally you should avoind the following when playing:

• Don't spam manual saves (game already saves at sleep, logout and every 30min if no other save has been initiated). Spam saving will only lead to RAM running out and crashes.
• Don't use quick resume feature for Valheim. Always close the game from the Xbox menu, when you are done playing it.
• Don't play long play sessions. After 2h, logout and exit the game from Xbox menu so that RAM empties out.

The upcomming patch will aim to reduce RAM consumption on both PC and console, which should alleviate this issues.

We get issues with my controller locking up when I host, we can get it to normally clear itself by just waiting a bit and then exiting to home screen. Almost like something is going on with game and system and just need to let it clear up. Have had to hard reset a few times. Usually after a couple of hours and multiple jumps through portals or extensive map exploration.

Probably related to you interrupting world loading process at wrong time. Once the loading process starts, don't touch anything and just let it finish.
So no minimising, no alt-tabbing, no mouse clicking, no keyboard pressing, no controller or joystick use.

Same here. Long story incoming. My world has started to glitch out and cause the game to crash, using PC Gamepass. It started yesterday when I came back on, and I spawned at the stones surrounded by water, as if the stones area was a small island, 20 ft above the rest of the map, which was all underwater, trees poking out of the water everywhere. Super trippy. When I tried reloading, it would either boot me out during the startup sequence, or load up the underwater glitched world.

I restarted my computer and loaded a backup save from earlier yesterday when it was fine, and it worked for awhile. I was able to hop into a friend’s world last night for a long time, until I suddenly desynced from his world. When I tried getting back in, the game was crashing during startup again, either all of a sudden or with a brief windows pop-up window that had the Valheim logo and a red exclamation mark.

I’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling the game several times, but it’s still happening. Although I do have a very built-up world (43MB/622MB), the crashes are happening in the startup sequence just as much as in-game. Any ideas what’s going on?

sounds about right, I still haven’t figured out what is causing it exactly but in case you get that lucky chance of making it past the start up and loading into your world, try saving as fast as you can and every few mins for the first 15-20mins of the game starting, I have found that to reduce the chances of a crash happening or it could be a placebo effect from all the attempts and trials 😂

Manual saving is not recommended on Xbox, but PC shouldn't have much problems with it.

The first issue you encountered (ritual stones at wrong terrain level) happens when you crash during saving process and a part of the save file gets corrupted.
PC gamepass crashes that happen during world loading, happen when one activates game window at wrong times.
To avoid this issue, alt-tabbing, minimising, clicking with mouse, keyboard, gamepas or joystick has to be avoided during loading process.
Crashes during gameplay are different. How is your friend hosting their world?
When you get kicked out of the entire game due to desync and if you can't launch the game after that, it's usually indicative of Xbox having general issues on their platform and matchmaking.

Thanks for getting back so quick. I definitely learned from you and others on here about not multi-tasking during the loading process so I avoid that.
I think you helped me with vpn apps running in the background last summer. And once again, there was another app running that I had previously had turned off. Not sure why it was back on, but turning it off led to a full hour session just now. I’m turning it off, taking a break, and we’ll see if it still works on starting back up.

It’s Nord VPN. Even with it entirely closed out, the game still tends to crash eventually (around 2 hrs) or it crashes in startup sequence if I had successfully closed out, put computer to sleep and then tried logging backing in. Tends to work if I restart my laptop, so I’ve been able to play now for the most part. Good to know about the crash guide.

PC version of the game doesn't share Xbox related RAM issues, so world size doesn't matter. It's still unclear if you issues are related to networking or something else.
Have you grabbed some of the crash logs files like the guide suggested?

I've been having similar issues as @urban dagger (I posted on the bug tracker last weekend). This is for XBOX PC game pass on Windows 10.
We didn't notice any oddities in the world, but starting ~10 days ago my friend (host)'s game would start crashing on startup randomly. They never crashed in-game.
I can join and play for ~20 mins before my game freezes and crashes. Sometimes the Valheim splash would show up, sometimes not. And now my game also crashes randomly at startup.
We are about 150 miles apart, so we may be in the same XBOX server region. We both have updated GPU drivers. Neither of us have VPNs enabled. The startup crashing happens even without interacting with the game during loading.
I have 3 of the latest crash reports, though I don't see the option to upload.

@urban dagger mostly suffers from in-game crashes. I's not very clear what's causing the crashes, because log files don't have any useful info in them.
There is a differene between world loading crashes (you shouldn't interact with input while game is loading), and launch game crashes.
Game startup/launch crashes are indicative of existing problems between Windows and Xbox services.

Are both you and your friend experiencing launch crashes at the same time?

Do you both play with individual microsoft/windows accounts as well as individual Xbox accounts, or do you share the same microsoft account?

Then you crashes are most likely not related to saving, rather something else that happens during that time, like a power spike when the game goes from the freeze frame back to normal. Crashes like these are usually indicative of system instabilities.

The firs thing you should then check, is if your FPS is properly capped to 60 FPS in the starting menu, pause menu and during loading screens. Uncapped FPS could lead to power spikes which might result in crashes.

New PC can very much be a problem, especially if you haven't build it yourself.
That's mostly due to fact that PC system builders can match wrong components together, not mounting them properly, or take it upon themselves to adjust BIOS settings (CPU and RAM clocks, which render the system unstable). As I've stated in my guide, the second most common crash reason in Valheim is precisely that, and it happens mostly on new systems for the reasons I mentioned. I stumbled upon some report about people saying their crashes stopped when they reverted their gaming services to version 17.85.5002.0

Have you enabled any mods on the dedicated server?
Can you list the specs of all the people who play on the server (console mods, and for PC info if they play on Steam, cracked version of the game, cheat engine, which CPU and which graphic cards).
All PC users should also do a buffer bloat test: https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat and all users should type "/ping" (no quotes) in the chat to see their ping while issues are happening vs when not happening.

The nature of Valheim is such that one player can be enough to cause issues for everyone involved.

It's definitely not a singleplayer issue. That's why I'm asking about details. It's most often caused by one person, or the server in general.
Since you tested two servers, it's probably not server related.

Other things that would be helpful to know if help would be:

• connecting to the server using IP address + port instead of join code

Yeah, not a discussion for this channel. Many mods are not supported on gamepass version of the game, so that's the most likely issue you have. Not having the necessary mods to access the server, but those mods not being available for gamepass version of the game. When you remove all of your mods in the Valheim installation directory (just running thunderstone mod manager is not enough), and when you are sure that you are playing on vanilla game, you should test and make sure that you can reach the password prompt for all other servers in the join community servers tab. If you won't be able to, it means that you issue is related to network problems with crossplay and not mods.

Be sure that you are both using a separate Xbox account and a separate Microsoft/MS Store account. Other crashes in multiplayer are related to Microsoft messing up gaming services on Windows (not Valheim's fault). Be sure to have Windows automatic updates turned on to recieve a fix as it comes out. Right now, the fix is only available on Windows Insider Program.

In that case, the first thing you should try, is to not touch anythign on your PC while the game is generating a world. Minimising, alt-tablinging, clicking could all potentially disrupt the loading process. Give it 5min to load while being away from your PC.

Oh right, sorry, somehow managed to forgot your first sentence about the start button. Did you try setting up the server password? (it has to be 5 characters long). Also try not naming your world in the same way as the world seed. If that doesn't help, it's probably an issue related to Cloud saves. Can you check where you installed Valheim (on which drive, is it C:\ or some custom location that you've picked)?

This isn't necessarily a bug, but the way aiming is implemented on the controller not only differs from how aiming works with a mouse & keyboard but also differs from how games usually implement aiming.

With mouse & kb:

• Look forward
• Rotate the camera to the left (let's say 90 deg to the left)
• The character now points to the left
• Press the attack button
• The character hits in the same direction the camera points - 90 deg left from the original position.

With the controller:

• Look forward
• Rotate the camera to the left (let's say 90 deg to the left)
• The character still points forward even though the camera points 90 deg to the left
• Press the attack button
• The character hits in the same direction the camera was pointing originally - forward, rather than 90 deg to the left.

This makes combat, chopping wood, mining ore, etc., much harder than it should be. It feels clunky and non-intuitive.

Depending on your system specs, world loading/generation can take some time. World generation takes longer when new world is created or the game receives a large update. During those time it can be prone to crashing if you interupt the loading process by interacting with the game window. Best to leave it how long it takes to load. Subsequent loading attemps should be shorter.

Your world save file is now corrupt, so you will have to restore previous backups, by clicking on the manage saves button, worlds tab, expland the list of backups for your world and then restore the previous one. Save on top will be your corrupt save and the most recent backup just below that (often with auto-backup in the name).

There was a bug that resulted in ships getting damaged when running the game on low FPS.
When some of the players updated their game, this bug which was fixed, started happening for all shipts regardless of FPS.
Reinstallation is what fixed thep problem, so I was under impression that the update iteself caused the issue.
However if you have done the reinstallation already in order to fix the issue, but the issue still happened to you now, there might be something else that triggers it.

Can you check on which verison of the game are you playing on in the starting menu?

If you were playing in singleplayer, you can try enabling offline permissions for your account in microsoft store and then launch Valheim from valhim.exe or temporarily disable internet and then launch Valheim though executable. However when doing this, you should know that the next time services go online, you will be asked which saves you want synced with the Xbox Cloud and on that point you have to select the one that's on the PC and not the Cloud.

Saves are first saves on the disk, then uploaded to the Xbox Cloud. When you reinstall the game, if your saves were are flagged as Cloud in Valheim manage saves menu (they probably were if you haven't manually changed that), the saves on the disk will be deleted, but those saves in the Xbox Cloud won't. When you install the game again, PC should sync with Xbox Cloud and download those saves again to the disk.

There is a question of whether your last saves, which are on the disk atm, correctly synced to the Cloud, so I wouldn't recommend re-installing the game yet. It most often isn't a Valheim issue to begin with. Restarting the PC might help.

One thing that can help stabilising your connection is not using 5G rather 4G, and connecting your phone over USB cable rather then connecting your PC to your phone over WiFi hotspot.

So, with the update yesterday- can anyone explain to me how the mini map (upper left corner) zooms in/out? The LB and dpad up/down used to be the way to zoom the view in/out- but now that is combined with the mini map?

LB/LT + Dpad↑ will ZoomIn our ZoomOut the character camera. Which one it will be depends on what it did the last time, and it will do the opposite next time. Basically it alternates. First press might zoom in, and when you let go and try again, the next press will zoom out. The same alternation happens with LB/LT + Dpad↓ for the minimap.

I personally agree that there isn't much use for zooming in and out of the minimap, but Devs tried to have all the keyboard/mouse features also available on the controller. However some players might find some use for it (I don't use many map pins in general). The way how it works now needs getting used to, as previous muscle memory will get in the way, and I don't see nothing wrong in changing how controls work in early access game. The questions is, will this be as annoying even after players get used to it.

Bug is back where after random time in game I stop picking up drops. Have room in inventory and carry capacity, item magnetism just shuts off. Exit and restart fixes, so not killing me.

Any item despawns after some time if you don't build any player base items around it (e.g. workbench).

We had base built there to rest. I have never had items despawn that fast. Especially since every item in the gameworld we have passed over is still there days later. I will try auto pickup button combo next time it happens, but odd that it just stops working.

Yeah, issues like this are known to happen. Sometimes the server has to be restarted also.
For some build pieces like portals, this should be fixed on the Ashlands update, but won't for chests yet.

I don't recommend saving before logging out. The act of logging out already performs a save.
Doing both will only increase RAM usage and may lead to crashes during saving, resulting in corrupt saves.

I don't use a gamepad, but to me some button (or anything) which alternates between whatever it was before seems like poor desing. Perhaps only exceptions are *lock keys on a keyboard.

One of the biggest reasons why controller controls can't be rebound on Xbox, is because Steam already supports such features innately, and Xbox porting team had more important things to implement and fix. In the meantime there are attempts to squeeze new features on existing controller schemes, and the main developers are already aware that players don't like it. Not sure if new zoom features will be made optional soon, but the new attacks based on camera will be made optional.

New patch came out recently. You should be able to play together on that patch.
If you continue to have the same problems, they are most likely related to one of your not having the ability to connect to crossplay servers (sually PC players).
Is your friend playing on Steam or PC Xbox app?
To determine who from the two of you has problems, both of you can try connecting to some random crossplay server in the community tab, to see if you can reach password prompt. Steam PC players can see both Steam servers and Crossplay servers, so they have to be sure to test the correct server (crossplay servers have an additional icon next to their name which looks like intertwined arrows 🔀 )

The PC host can geenrally use the command called "restartparty" to gain a new join code, without the need of restarting the server.

Yeah, I wouldn't blame you. There isn't much that you can do about those crashes, as they are often related to consoles running out of RAM.
It has been optimised several times so far, but problems are still there. Some new heavy changes in how saving and other RAM related processes work in back end are in the works, but can't say when they are going to be ready during early access.
So far the only safe workaround where you can be sure no crashes during saving will happen, is to host the world on a dedicated server (can be hosted for free on a PC), but play on Xbox.

If nobody plays on Arc GPU, since you are the host, when a problem manifests on your end, it's probably relayed to others in multiplayer.
Regardless of driver info stating that they are up to date, the first thing you should do is to uninstall them.
Install the latest driver again, but a custom installation has to be chosen, and during installation process perform clean installation option has to be selected.

Are you playing with FPS limiters or uncapped FPS?
If you haven't preformed clean re-installation like I mentioned (all custom driver setting resetting), I recommend doing it again.
It might be a specific issue with a particular driver as well or GPU hitting temperature hotspots (installing HWiNFO will tell you which system components hit max temps). It's not uncommong for high end GPU to be imporoperly configured and not being able to handle 100% GPU usage, which usually happens in oceans if FPS in not capped.

It's very unlikely that the issue is in your world, so I recommend focusing your efforts towards checking if your GPU works properly.

There might be sole problems when a player with the most unstable connection or the weakest system (Xbox One S) enters an area first. They essentially become responsible for calculating physical for most of the network objects in that area, with the addition of having to send results of those calculations to other players. On Xbox One, the most problematic situations would be those with lots of enemies, as Xbox One console has weak CPU that can't keep track with many enemies. I suggest comparing pings, comparing FPS when lag issues are happening. Those that can move from WiFi to wired connection should do so. Another useful piece of information is the buffer bloat test which will tell if the home rouhter has issues with latency when upload/download is happening. (tell your frined to check their rating on PC or mobilephones while they are not using internet for anything else: https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat)

It's highly unlikely that there something wrong with the patch, as more players would have the same problem, and I've seen this issues before and in each case, in every case it faulty GPU drivers, thermal throttling issues, or unstable clocks.

If you move your files from Cloud to Local via in-game manage saves menu, you can find them in this folder: %username%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local

You are looking for worldname.db and worldname.fwl, whcih you can then DM to me so I can check them

I have unlocked a lot of land but I stopped because every time I did and the game would close. I would lose all that and have to do it all over again. I do play with my son in his world he created. If they are not the host of the world, they can't save manually.

No, they can't if they are not the host of the world. Manual saves do not work for non hosts or non admins for dedicated server.

Their character gets saves on manual saves initiated by the host, server admin, after sleeping, after world save (every 30min if no other saves has been inititated, after quit and logout.

Did you recently try to manage your saves manually?
The first thing your should check, is if you have enough free storage space on your hard drivers by launching "This PC" app
Second thing would be opening up manage saves button from the starting menu, expanding all the backups for your world and taking a screenshot of them.
They you can proceed to restore one of the backkups closed to the top.

from what I have read and been told, they uploaded the update to microsoft but it has not been approved. Steam works differently in that they just deploy whatever update. So coould be a few hours, could be weeks for microsoft to do whatever it is they need to do.

Well it's probably related, as you game seems to be using minimap cache files from another world.
However that generally shouldn't happen. If you delete a world named AAA with a seed BBB, it will have cache files for BBB seed.
If you then delete that AAA world, and create a new AAA world with CCC seed, those old BBB minimap cache files should be deleted and replaced with CCC.

They were failed attempts to create new servers to play with friends. Just exited the game, and when I was going to create a new server, those old ones didn't appear in the worlds list

So you had a world AAA, deleted it, uninstalled the game, installed Ashalnds, created world AAA, friends failed to join, so you quit, ended up in the starting menu, went to start the world agian, notice it not being on the list, you created a new AAA world which then worked but had wrong minimap?

Entering into your world, manually saving, quitting should render both of your saves the same (main and .old).
Then you can delete the world, and restore .old backup and you should have correct minimap.

Transition should happen smoothly. The issues only arise when someone plays PTB version of the game that is higher than the version on the Live branch. In that cases saves can't transition from higher to lower version.

When you get a confirmation that it went through (could last for few min but usually fast), then you can restart the console and Valheim will update to Ashlands version.

Unfortunately not. It's all about them doing the needed checks on their side. Less checks are preformed for PTB builds, as users signing up to them kinda accept that more issues can arise from gaming early access games. For live releases they want to be always sure that all safety protocols and best practices are followed.

Usually main Devs prepare build much sooner so that every platform can get them on the same time, so Steam build would be pushed to a later date if any problems would arise, but for variety of reasons Steam build had to be released.

Sorry, we don't really deal with mods on vanilla channels. You can try t he #mods-discussion channel.
Mods are generally incompatible with PC gamepass version of the game.
When huge updates arrive, like this Ashlands one, even on Steam most of the mods break, so this is probably not the best time to test out whcih mods work on PC gamepass.

Are you sure that the server has crossplay enabled? Did they give you a join code to use for connecting?
Is the server running mods? I suggest doing the NAT test in Xbox advanced network setting to see under what type of NAT are you (open, moderate, strict, etc...)

They’d get a different error if server is running mods. Agreed to check crossplay enabled and also to check that the user is whitelisted. For Xbox it’s not your gamertag. My friends and I had to try connecting, then check the server logs to get the user ID for each attempted login. Then white list those IDs.

Depends on a mod. I've seen all kinds of mod related issues, so you can't really go about incompatible version only due to modding.

I don’t know. When I first download the game, it had mistlands on there. And I’m the only one out of a 5 man group 4 being on Xbox that’s currently having this issues and we all started the same week, I started 2-3 days after them

PTB is like a public beta version of the game that can only be accessed by downloading Xbox Iniser hub app on the Xbox

After console reset, and re-installation of your favourite games, all Valheim saves and saves of other games should be automatically downloaded from the Cloud again. Don't think there's anything you can do besides that.

Maybe Microsoft support knows some extra step that can be done, but judging by their help support for this error on other game, I don't think so. Maybe try to do a reset but keep the apps and games option first, before doing the full reset.

So got a question, the person im playing with on xbox after update has an issue with targeting anything with a melee weapon using a keyboard and mouse, they will swing with a club targeting an enemy ahead of them and the attack with turn 180 behind them, i guess with a bow there isnt an issue, just when using any melee weapon

There's an extra option in the setting gameplay tab for choosing how melee weapons attack in relatation to the camera

Crossplay has to be enabled on the Gporal site while the server is shutdown, after it gets enabled you should start the server.

It would be best to watch videos on how to setup server on Gporal or open up a support ticked on their website for the problems you might be facing.

Try to quit Valheim from the Xbox menu (mustn't be running). Then press the menu button while selecting Valhiem in your Xbox home → goto manage game and add-ons → saves data → delete both reserved spaces. After that do the power cycle of the console (turn off, unplug power cable for 30sec, turn back on).

It's more of a Microsoft issue that a Valheim issue.

The only known solution for it is console reset to default settings

I'm just not sure if soft reset is enough (soft reset keeps games still installed)

im not sure if everyone stutters at the exact same times, it happens pretty frequently like maybe every 2 to 4 seconds, and the stutters can last anywhere between like a tenth of a second to half a second. This is different from the stutters that happen when the world saves

Are you playing with mods? Check if the stutters you are talking about are related to crossing zone borders:

When F2 menu is opened, and zone border is crossed with a character, instance count will reset, which can cause stutters.
If the stutters are the same as in the video, that's normal on DDR4 and happens to everyone.

I just tested, and when ever we crossed a certain line it stuttered and the instance count went down to 3000 before climbing up to 6000

As I said, this type of a stutter is normal, if it doesn't last longer than in the video I linked. This type of stutter doens't happen when you are not crossing zone borders. If the stutters are more severe, it can be related to multiple things, and usually things that have to be tweaked not in Valhiem but on the system/PC one is playing on.

the stutters we are getting are pretty consistent with what is happening in the video, as mentioned previously we are only getting them when we are in the ashlands and nowhere else. We tried turning graphics settings down but the stutters remain the same. This is making combat extremely difficult for us and it seems pretty rediculous to have this be a normal thing in the game

also our computers are significantly more powerful than the one in the video

The stutters shown in the video shouldn't cause too much probme while in combat. It's not as much that this is normal, rather that it's expected behaviour, which hasn't been optimised since the game launched, as it's not easy to do so.

Can you enable some kind of FPS overlay while recorind a video like this? It's really hard to see where the stuttering is without it, especially when you are recording at 26FPS.

Then is expected behaviour. You need two separate game purchases to play, otherwise Microsoft playfab services (crossplay) kick you out after 30min of gameplay.

Check your windows updated, including optional ones and install them. Restart your PC.
If you still have this problem, reinstall your Xbox app and restart your PC.
