The wall on the bottom may be close enough to make it connected to the ground. You need a fair bit of space on all parts of the vein, it won't pop if any of it is too close to ground.

You might be able to see through, but the invisible box used to calculate intersection is bigger than the visible pieces of the vein

Ocean is not a full biome with a boss, and doesn't have a "spot" where it sits in progression, most people go there sometime after making a better ship in the black forest

you can build campfires and then bury them lightly in ground. they wont be destroyed if you do it correctly, and you dont have to see them scattered around everytime

they are player base structures, and i think they might be the best one due to low cost and this trick

The smoke is basically big balls that try to go up, since the skylight is not directly above the smoke vents it gets stuck, accumulates and chokes the smelters.

It functions as your hp if you are playing as a mage, so whenever it breaks you should hurry and recast the bubble 🙂

Just run away from the mobs for a few secconds to cast it and you can go back to fighting

Try taking on one of them but be careful as a mage you are a little more squishy. An item that has a chance to spawn inside will unlock most of the magic weapons for you

If you're going to be mainly melee you want to use higher armor set.

Being mageplayer has more benefits as you can stay easily out of range by casting with staves and having the shield to protect you better.

But you can't facetank hits as mageplayer.

I started playing with normal settings, then turned on portal all as I didn't have time to sail everywhere with my limited time. After that I experimented with no cost and peaceful when building and exploring. In general my world settings change regularly based on how I want to play at the moment.

I might consider doing a default run through if I get bored in my first world.

You can automate stone with a greydwarf spawner trap, or collect a bunch quickly by mining out the bottom of big rocks in the mountains or plains. If you only need a few hundred, you can break down/deconstruct the stone towers in the black forest

If you just started, look for them on the ground, they can be hard to spot. You can get stone much easier once you have a pickaxe, just hit anything that looks like a rock, or even the ground

If you go into your graphic settings and turn down the vegetation quality you can see the rocks on the ground much easier. But turn it back up when you get the pickaxe, the game is beautiful :)

Pretty much any weapon works well, I like to use a club and a flint axe. Of course, having a crude bow is pretty important as well. Leather armor will do fine enough.

what i do is this: find lowest elevation spot within like 20-30m of the tarpit, then start digging a max depth pit there usually rectangle or square shape, maybe 20x20m I m not sure how big it actually is, but max depth you can dig to, then dig a channel to the tarpit to start draining, if done right it will drain completely

how many total asks were there? the breeding limit is similar to chickens, but if it was out of control, some mods can affect things negatively that have nothing to do with what they do, like a mod could give you new weapons and break the boats in the process as an example

maybe, so asksvins will stop breeding if 10 askvins are in the area, but some extra eggs might still hatch as I understand it

but they will stop "getting pregnant with another egg" if that makes sense

and I think but not 100% sure the already pregnant ones will not lay their egg, if there is 10 adults in that space, but eggs already laid before the 10 adults are there (not sure if young ones count they probably do too) then the eggs will still hatch

so if you have like 6 adults and they all breeding they might lay more than 4 eggs in a time before they all hatch, so getting to more than 10 total in the end

That's the strange part. I was still finding eggs when there were 15 of them. Ended up removing them before they could hatch. I have 9 of them now. They're not even 2-star. Lame.

You know that the biggest key to Valheim is food, right? Food is your health and stamina, it's not like other survival games where you just need it to not die. Better food will make you much tougher, as well as upgrading your gear.

uhm, doesn't seem that much high, but maybe the floor level is not grounded (blue), at that game stage you can try corewood (use corewood poles instead of regular wood, making sure you put the first pole in direct contact with the ground), if you're still before Eikthyr you have to dare entering the black forest, be very careful, and look for Pine trees, you can chop them down with any axe

if they're regular Greydwarfs they're not just weak to fire damage, but they also fear it, holding a torch is enough to make them flee, they'll just throw rocks, apart from that any weapon will do, so maybe pick the one that deals more damage

if you're still in an earlier stage only way is Black Forest dungeons, maybe swamps are too dangerous right now, it's random: if you found just a couple of cores in a dungeon is normal, but with some luck you can find much more (my best one so far is 19 in a single one)

Each building piece will try to take the shortest path to reach blue support, each consecutive piece it needs to go through reduces the weight that can be supported further

Some build pieces are better than others at minimizing support loss over distance

For example you can build much taller structures by supporting them with core wood poles than regular wood poles

You need to experiment with the support system, outside the building, and you'll see there is a big difference between regualr wood beams, Core wood, stone, iron-beam, and flame-metal.

I was just commenting that flametal beams are extremely expensive given how difficult flametal is to acquire, and yeah iron+wood poles are the best for support

Either that or just build up a fat pillar of terrain as part of your build and use it for support

Like the swamp, Mistlands imo is best approached slow and steady. Portals are your best friend, get good at taking advantage of them! The bug sounds freak me out too haha

5 black cores is key here, once you have those you can cycle between the necessary work stations as needed, effectively using all three for the price of one.

Yep, they can be kinda rare sometimes? I have a hard time finding them personally, but it’s all about luck, so you could find a lot quickly! Mark Dvergr outposts and camps on your map, these can be useful ‘safe spots’ to retreat to when things get messy.

Is that located near the border of Ashlands or Deep North? When Ashlands update was added the world gen updated all worlds to force an ocean gap between Ashlands/DN and other adjacent biomes, any pre-generated areas near the border get affected by the world gen change and leave all stuff in their place, POIs on top of those wield pillars, boulders and ores on air and trees and bushes slowly moves on ground level.

So in short: world gen change in pre-generated area, no command to "fix" it.

Those pillars cannot be broken since the 8m altitude rule affects to them too, since they are still terrain.

Their tallest attacks are 2.3m tall, you shouldn’t have too much trouble dodging them while hitting their sides. You might even be able to jump right over them to hit them safely from behind.

If you want to make it easier on yourself, wear the root harnesk with whatever other armor you like, and bring some fire resist barleywine. Ooze bombs, frostner and ice arrows help a lot. It's also very, very dangerous at night, like... crazy so.

Seekers are 1.6m tall, frostner primary reaches between 0.5m above your feet to 1.1m above your feet and the secondary reaches down to 0.005m above your feet and up to 1.67m above your feet (If I did the maths right, that is. It's a vertical hitbox so calculating this is much less simple)
You'd actually need to be pretty far above or below them to miss with either attack. It's not impossible to miss on more extreme elevation differences, especially if the seeker is above you, but you need to learn when to reposition if you're at a height you can't hit from.

What are you counting as stuttering? The game will generate new areas as you explore, and that can take time no matter what.

When I check my frametimes I get dips as low as 20-30 fps and it microfreezes every like 20 seconds, happens more when I explore but happens anywhere really.

Hmm... I'm unfortunately at a bit of a loss. It should definitely be running better, mine does with a 7800XT. The other thing you can try is disabling any and all AMD optimizations for the game, run it without any frame generation or anything like that. I think there are a few things that it likes to turn on by default, like frame smoothing, and those might cause issues.

Sorry for the wierd question. But I have a friend whom is having a dedicated server hosted, that he and a few other friends play. But I noticed something strange with one of his friends. They were able to make all of the seasonal items at the same time. Despite it being June/July. He has only recently bought the game and made the character specifically for the server. So how your friend are doing this, are sure connected to be able to use admin mode. And that is build into the game, but you need a mod to enable it on worlds that isn't yours. adminlist.txt could be used to exclude your friends SteamID, so admin mode would not work on that dedicated server.

mornin' o/ just yesterday started our first map ever but we are a bit stuck. We killed the first boss a couple of times which was good fun and have a basic hut going. The game seems to suggest the next step is ore smelting but we found only a single burial ground on our whole island and the skeletons in the very first room smash our faces in with 2 hits while we are hardly making a dent (with our once-or-twice upgraded clubs or axes). So we are more or less hard blocked from getting bone fragments or those smelting cores. Are we missing some middle step here or do we just have to get good and don't get hit by skeletons that would take 30+ hits while having low stamina

uhm, first skellies can hit hard but not that much, maybe try upgrade the upgradable (you can upgrade your workbench twice with meadows technology) and maybe focus on health food (best you can do rn is deer meat, boar meat and honey... im you can go with neck meat for max health but you'll have crippling low stamina)

i regularly save backups and it should be the same as "duplicating" worlds i guess, the folder should be right.. when i do this i "move to local" ("manage saves" in game menu), exit the game, copy files from the folder you mentioned, then go back in game and "move to cloud"... dunno if that's the matter

Hello, guys! I need some help. Is there any way for me to transfer the server I created to another account, even if that server was already saved on a Steam cloud? I see many videos of people succeeding in transfering their servers, but they do mention that their servers were already created outside of the steam cloud.

The pickaxe isn't necessary if you don't plan on doing a lot of mining before swamp

Nails for a karve so you can sail faster is advisable

I'd suggest either atgeir or 1h weapon + buckler. I personally don't like atgeir because it feels way too powerful to make combat interesting for me, but it's really fun for a lot of people

You will need a bronze axe to harvest new wood types

You will be more mobile than with iron set, but also less tanky, the root set gives you archery bonus, pierce resistance and poison resistance (50% reduction of poison dmg) but bonemass doesent really do any pierce dmg and for poison dmg you can use mead that gives you very resistant status (75% reduction)

If it's stuck stuck, you may have to destroy it. There have been times where my wheels glitch into the terrain and some of those times the only solution was utter destruction.
If you're just unable to get it up the hill due to the weight you can try:
-Terraforming and making a path that is significantly more manageable. This is time consuming but will set you up for success later.
-Making multiple trips. If you lighten your load you might be able to follow through with the zig zag method suggested before.
Also don't forget Eikthyr power! the stamina reduction is goated when doing long trips.

Heck yes rested buff helps your regen of stamina. With out it your fighting while super tired so when stamina is down you regen is to slow.

Camp fire will give you a little. But your base with items like carpet chairs maypole etc give you much more time. So when it runs out go home for a bit and get your rested back. But a small shack with shelter and fire will work in a pinch for 4min

You should be able to get up to comfort level 5 before fighting Eithkyr (without "cheese" strats to get finewood), and 9 once you get bronze.

Don't forget that JUST sitting (X on keyboard) by a campfire by itself still gives almost half a day's worth of rested (8 minutes). Higher comfort is handy but if you're willing and able to spare the short break to rest while out and about you can make your comfort level matter less early game

Oops forgot the no boss so ok iron sledge will get you there. And its true golem is a hint silver is close but they don't spawn on top its just in the area

iron sledge requires ymir flesh which you can't buy until you beat The Elder. Even the Ashlands-tier Demolisher is off the table because all metals past silver can't be smelted (need dragon tear to make artisan table which is needed to place blast furnace)

Well you got lucky once but man it's no big deal. Comfort bonus is a part of the game. Heck it's a big chunk but once you get that up you can do whatever you want with out worrie. Just like food and water in subnatica. Trolls are not everywhere so once you kill this one you should be OK. Here's a hint use your bow and shoot at vital points you think will hurt and watch the color of the damage and number. Once you found the spots you can repeat with other weapons.

Hmmm, Stagbreaker is craftable without killing bosses. It requires corewood, leather scraps and deer trophies.

yes, wisplights require 5th boss drops to make, but technically doesn't prevent you from building the Demolisher, still is limited to 4th boss (Blast Furnace needed) because even if needs just regular iron to craft, Yggdrasil wood and Refined Eitr require some black metal tools and crafting stations to obtain

Its probably because of their hitboxes and pathing, loxes and asksvin probably dont care if that space is occupied they just pile on top of each other trying to get to that one corner and eventually when the game tells them they cant reach it they move lol

You must check if you have them blocked in player list (pause menu).
And check on Xbox that the settings that allows you to communicated to players outside of Xbox is enabled in the Xbox privacy settings.

I'm pretty sure this is releated to Xbox age-limitation and age-setup. Valheim is a bit wonkey about relaying on default xbox config regarding this, so if you have set the kids account to below 12, you need to tweak a bunch of the xbox settings to make him see your signs. And those settings you change are across Xbox, and not specific for Valheim.

Okay, so ingame you have sort of a tool to see how many instances are in your area. I am trying to get a clear notion as to what/which things count as instances which in the end can cause areas to become bogged down and laggy. Do long chains of text that show outside of the plank cause more instances?
I am unable to determine the cause of instance count jumping up in the hundreds.
Also is there a listing of what items count towards that count?

If you whack it and a damage number shows up, it's almost certainly an instance. This includes trees and rocks. Beyond that, you might need someone more knowledgeable on the topic to answer.

I know light sources, especially or specifically the standing torches and sconces if you have a lot of those they'll bog you down. Terrain alterations count as instances iirc. And i think it counts all that within 1000m radius (or maybe diameter)

I’m about on my last leg trying to play Valheim. I’m on an all AMD system in the newest update of windows and I think I’ve tried about everything to eliminate the horrible stutter I’m receiving. It happens mostly near my workbench and extremely when I’m loading new areas. If anyone has any tips on how to eliminate these stutters it would be greatly appreciated as the game looks awesome but it’s simply unplayable. I have similar problems in PEAK and I believe both games use the same engine.

If you haven't already searched around on different forums or reddit or something through google, I would honestly try and see if an LLM like ChatGPT or Gemini have any suggestions. Give it all the details of your hardware, tell it everything you've tried and ask it to research if any of your hardware has any known issues etc. LLMs the last year or so have been remarkably good at helping me with things like this

I'm running pretty smoothly with a 5900X and a 7800XT, so I'm pretty sure it's probably just some feature that's conflicting with something that the Unity engine has built in.

I think I’ve gone through every setting atp, I’m stumped. Even when I try capping the frames to 120 or 60 for better frame times I still get bad micro stutters. Could be a hardware problem but I don’t see how since I never have problems in anything that’s not a unity engine and I’ve yet to see anyone have the same problem.

It’s only when I actively move around though not when I stand still and look around, it’s very odd.

Yeah, I've heard of the micro-stutters, but I haven't been able to reproduce them myself. Only thing I've run into is tanking framerates because of too many fires and lighting sources 😅

Go into your drivers and check the detailed settings for Valheim in the Adrenalin app, make sure it doesn't have a feature enabled that you're not aware of. I think there are a few it tries to do by default.

Steam. Got it before it was on the MS store. It should be the same binary though.

Nope. Hoe and pick are the only land forming tools. You can hold shift when using the hoe to level the ground to the height your character is standing at, as opposed to the default behavior of averaging the heights around it.

Straight walls and flat floors are doable with stone pieces and such though

Make sure the walls and pillars are attached to the ground instead of the floor. Support will die significantly faster in the second case.

The lowest piece of each wall/pillar/etc. should be blue when you hover over it with the hammer

So Black forest is up next 🙂 and in biome after that you get a whole new material to build with, and you can use just one base the entire game if oyu want to, that is what i do anyway.

Workbench can go up to lvl4 in black forest, if you go explore it you will find minerals in the ground through out the biome and around water that you can dig using the pickexe you unlocked by killing Eikthyr 🙂

You will unlock stuff as you progress 😄 in 3rd biome you get a whole new material with lots of pieces to play with as i said, and in black forest you will get also new materials for tools and stuff

Fire is your friend in the early game

use it to your advantage

If worst comes to worst you can always just run around in the red area of the map that is shown while raid is going on 🙂 that way the timer of the raid will still progress and when it ends the enemies will just run away

Yep, most wood pieces take dmg from rain, it stops at 50% so dont worry about the whole thing colapsing but having a roof is quite a good idea 😄

I've been playing valheim for a while on xbox. I have a neice who plays steam (she just got the game). We tried playing together tonight. When I sent her a game invite, it took her to a Microsoft page to buy that version of valheim, it wouldnt let her join me using a join code either. When I tried to join her with a code, it worked fine.

How can I get it so she can join my game?
