Don't do mods in your first playthrough.
You won't get the feeling of the game as it's intended to be.

If you really want to go fist only on a first playthrough, set the World Modifiers to "easy". That way you will learn to deal with the monsters, while you're also doing a lot of damage to them.

Or you simply activate Dev-commands and set your fist skill to 100.
However, with that you won't learn much.

yes but id suggest to prepare the area for the fight, build 3 walls with the hoe, approx 5-6 levels up and kite him around that construct, you should not get hit if you play it right and just peel him with bow and arrows (artwork attached to visualize the walls)

greydwarf spawner should be alright for fists, cut off the route, dig the straight tunnel that leads from spawner to you and just beat them up as they come, it will take LONG time tho xd

The best swamps in my experience are the ones with Bonemass, I always look for those. Same as mountains, look for moder for the biggest mountains

The iron mace is the best option for stone golems. It doesn't really matter for wolves because they don't have any damage modifiers for physical damage.

Don't ignore the Drauger Bow and blunt arrows, the arrows work well on the golems, and you can create a stone mound to fire from or just shoot and scoot.
I prefer Sword and Board vs Wolves, but you have to find a grey dwarf spawner and crank up your block skill to be effective. Your sword skill is getting raised as you prepare for the silver sword and the plains. Drop a campfire near your fight spot to help with stamina regen.

Blunt arrows don't exist??

And the campfire will only help if you aren't in combat, you cannot get the resting effect while enemies can hear or see you.

On default difficulty with the right food and shield you can block wolves without needing to grind block skill

I see, Bone arrows are not in the vanilla game, vanilla is so lame. Will just have to work with obsidian arrows for drakes, and trap the golems in holes you dig to 'sequester' them since killing them with vanilla gear is a pita.

Also golem can be killed with wooden arrows even very easily but its a very niche situation, where someone has extremely high bow skill, and maybe also full root set can help get to that, its possible but yeah the mace and shield iron tier works super well, very satisfying

How do you farm surtling cores efficiently?

It's really far to walk to find dungeons and each dungeon barely has 1-2 surtling cores so is there any more efficient way of getting them?

Run around a black forest looting burial chambers or find a fire geyser in a swamp and lower the land around it so the surtlings spawn pretty much in the water and die instantly

once you get to swamp, yeah. Find a geyser, kill the surtlings around it with bow, lower the terrain around the geyser so there's shallow water around

when you're in render distance, surtlings will spawn every five minutes, and quickly die. You can get a lot of cores, coal and even their trophies this way. I love their trophies because they give some light, perfect for nailing over the gate so you can see it in pitch dark...

First boss' attacks are easily blocked/dodged so it could be skipped until you get better armor, IMO.

You’re searching far from spawn, correct? I’ve always found my Rockies in the Black Forest. Some recommend turning your vegetation graphics to minimal to make spotting it easier.

I think you're a bit over prepared.

It would also be a good idea to leave the hoe, cultivator and pickaxe at home.
If you got a silver sword or Frostner: those are better for a melee fight as the BM sword is.

well gear up with what you can. Any health pots will help. But you can one shot them if you get them by surprise but doing it from a far or a boat you need lots of arrows becouse it can be hard to do. Arrows arc so you need to adjust for that.

Needed a closer portal too. Building up in the trees that dont break is a good spot. Just take your time be sneaky no need to rush you can do it. The rain bonmass creates makes health regen even slower btw.

Only way that can happens in most cases the game didn't get to finish its cloud update in time or a glitch. You can reload an older character and get your stuff back. You don't have to go back to far just when ever you did bonemass.

Hey guys i just reinstalled valheim to play with wife. i added some mods to autobuild a castle etc. i have all 4 mods required im watching a video regarding what to do and how etc.

You get the xp when it breaks. An optimized way to gain bloodmagic xp is raising 4 skeletons with deadraiser, then use staff of protection the bubble yourself plus 4 skeletons. Then find something that one-shots the shields. I think Lox is an option, but Elder is a good option too. Can spawn and break 5 shields over and over

Hello everyone I have a situation. Me and my two friends were mining silver on the mountain and we managed to gather quite a lot of ores and we were heading down the mountain we were attacked by all kinds of monsters and everyone scattered around in panic. And the one who was carrying the loot throwing ores around to release some weight so he could run. We all ended up dead.
Is there anyway or trick to locate dropped items? Because we couldn't find the ores anywhere.

Keep them in an enclosed area. And make sure your eggs don't end up outside.
You also have to make sure the eggs don't hatch in the fire, as that would immediately destroy the chicklets.

Hey so not to item-beg, but i would like to circle back about @tough hare and their recommendation to "just spawn" in a level five tetra fish. I have tried (and could be fact checked) but i have tried to spawn "fish4_cave 1 5", but it still comes in as a level four. So perhaps the developers capped the spawn on the tetra fish so no one can spawn in a level five so it has to be caught. Which is why I am here asking for help on maybe having some sort of fishing competition or something if anyone has one that I could touch or maybe some pointers on how to help someone find and catch a levle five tetra? @wicked solstice

Spawning fish with commands is capped on lvl4 because they are technically an item, not a mob, and all items are capped at lvl4 🙂

Does anybody in here know if it's possible to create a completely customized seed, I found one with a really great valley in it. That's surrounded by mountains but it doesn't have really big land masses and I'm trying to do this massive community project, we're being sponsored and everything. Sure that I have a good seed, because we've already started, but I plan on getting the infinity Hammer to move it all over to this new seed if it's possible. If not, I guess I'll have to deal with the one that we have, but I would prefer to be able to have a fully customized one so that I can build it around the lore that we're creating for this world.

ok.. so I have no idea what caused it.. I had one Nvidia driver I think called Geoforce game ready driver.. but that thing doesnt act like well.. the regular drivers it has a reinstall option and it didnt require a restart... all the other drivers are up to date.. no virus either and as far as faulty parts go I dont think I have any but ill bring the laptop for repairs anyway to see if maybe something inside caused the issue.
also.. no issue what so ever after the check and even playing the game now...

I get the "Connection Failed" when trying to join any of my friends and they can't join me either. We are using non-dedicated servers.

What we have tried:
Turning on/off cross-play. (We all use steam.)

Add/remove Community and password.

None of us have ever used mods on Valheim.

It is an allowed app on the Firewall.

Tried joining through steam and inviting.

We Changed to older versions.

Uninstalled/reinstalled twice.

Started new characters, used old characters.

New world, old world.

Updated drivers.

Updated Nvidia driver.

Nothing worked.

Any ideas what we could try?

They are not weak to axe, axe does slash and chop damage, abominations are immune to chop damage and neutral to slash. So a sword is slightly better than axe because both do slash but the sword is a tad faster

They are weak to fire, the best is if you parry them while they stand on a bonfire or a surtling geyser, that will MELT them

I have been looking for the rock the right way now and still no luck. So recently I picked up my hoe and it gave me stone as a new item. And now under the hoe it says I can make rock. so that narrows it down, its something on your network or pc, could you borrow a laptop and use that in your house? that could narrow it down to your pc at least, if a laptop that has Valheim installed also doesnt connect to your friends it would point to a issue with your router or ISP or something network related, narrowing things down is the best way to troubleshoot

Reinstalling windows can be annoying, you have a lot of things to do after like drivers and installing stuff again and downloading, also have to make sure you don't have any local files you want to keep etc

Have you tried both joining with steam friends list and ingame join code? join code normally works reasonably well

There is also a small chance that your ISP changed something that caused this. Definitely doesnt sound like the easiest to troubleshoot.

Steam and ingame tested. But we don't fully understand join codes and where to find them. We use non-dedicated servers to play. I should try joining dedicated servers to see if that works.

Then can figure out next steps from there.

I have tried fresh windows install. I can load the game if i preset steam launch with screen-fullscreen 0 -screen-height 270 -screen-width 480. However when I enlarge the window it reboots my computer.

If your gf is an archer, getting that root armor as high as possible with a wolf cape would be better; as it would give her an boost for the bow,
IF she got Draugr Fang it would even be better.
For arrows I prefer fire arrows over obsidian; but in general all but silver are good, depending at her skills.

For yourself, Fenris is fine, again, as high as possible.
You could use the Drake helmet for some extra armor protection. Combine it with a silver shield at maximum level and the iron sword / mace and you'd be good.

Yup, they both give protection against the frost from the mountains.
Might use Needle arrows instead of the other ones as well.
Although, the fire ones work well due to the fire damage. Poison ones do work, but the poison counter resets with each hit, so it won't stack. Not with the arrows, not with the poison from the bow.

MOder isn't an undead creature, so the spirit damage won't do much against her.
So it's mainly about the slash damage difference between both weapons that has influence.

I think I attacked her with a bow until my arrows ran out (on Hard mode), then finished her off with a max level silver sword. So it's possible.

She will take off once in a while, so those arrows are needed.
Might even use two types if the both of you are using bows.

Just make sure you're able to stay out of her frost breath.
Can cheese that, but I think if you manage to get the terrain adjusted a bit with a pickaxe / hoe you'll be fine.

If you want a safe spot, however, mine out around the base of her altar and put some camp fires in that gap.
You can't turn it in a big pit like under The Elder's Altar, but it's large enough to get out of the way of her frost blast.

What I find the best for taming is making a hole in the ground.
Once you have a hole put floor over it.
Lure what you want to tame onto the floor and destroy the floor so they drop down into the hole.
Toss them what they eat, for boars that is shrooms berries or vegetables, for wolves that is meat (not wolf meat), for loxes its cloudberries.
Run away so that they lose aggro, sneak closer and stay close till they are tamed.
Fill in the hole or build stairs so they can get out.
There are only a few things you can tame.

Firstly, unless you're abusing terrain to make sure Eithkyr never gets close to you, you'll at most get off only a couple of shots with a bow before he closes range. Melee weapons would be best. My weapon of choice is a flint spear.
All of his attacks can be fully parried with a level 2 wood shield or blocked with a level 3 wood tower shield, which are both obtainable before the bronze age. If you have a hard time timing the parrying and dodging, practice on boars. Consider throwing a call for help in #1024264966712340510 , there's plenty of people there who would love to help a newbro out and show them the ropes.
Stock up on food. If you're running boar meat, deer meat, and honey, you should have more than enough health and stamina to take him on.
Be stingy with your stamina. Make sure you have about 20 left before attacking so you can quickly pull a block/parry/dodge without running out.

They don't, you can be in the middle of the ocean and jump out at full speed, it will stop right next to you. It is essentially anchored wherever it was parked last. It doesn't get swept to sea by waves during storms either. Check around the area it was last seen, make sure if there are materials as it would drop them all where it was. Just be aware that heavy items like the nails will sink to the bottom.

I'm having trouble joining modded servers, i keep getting incompatible errors, i've spoke and tried with plays in the server and they can load in fine, i'm totally stumped. I haven't played valheim since before the mistlands update, i use to use thunderstore but deleted it after i stopped playing valheim because of the massive memory bloat from overwolf, reinstalled valheim today and started using the R2modman, sorry for the paragraph, would really appreciate any advice on what to do

It will slow you down, fire arrows are best and you need mostly stamina for it to run and shoot.
Your main problem will be it adding troll raids for you after you defeat the Eldar, so you should prepare a secure base that would protect you from them first

Valheim is mostly PvE game if playing coop as you try to slay the Forsaken to gain access to Valhalla. PvP is optional but the game doesn't revolve around that kind of gameplay.
Valheim has raids, which can trigger near building pieces every 46 minutes with 20% possibility and depending on your progression what kind of raid will trigger.

I'd assume some kind of PvP servers, usually mods are involved in them. Vanilla game has no Rust like gameplay where you raid other players.

All players have to manually enable friendly fire. It is off by default, so it has to be an agreed upon thing

I would assume you don't, since it is not intented gameplay. Like CJ said above the game is PvE by default and can be switched to PvP, which should be something everyone agree with.

The game has ward that can be used to prevent other players using or opening things like doors and chests but doesn't prevent people destroying your base. But mods are beyond my knowledge since I've played the game unmodded the whole time. When playing PvE with a group, how does it alter your game experience when compared to solo?
I killed all bosses including Yagluth and I am in Mistlands now.

Because there’s a border that prohibits you from leveling too low, but if you defeat the first boss you can get a pickaxe that will help you lower it more

Seeing the gear you have right now, i’d assume you have access to a crafting table, so just make a full suit of armor, make a spear and level it up to level 3 and eat boar meat deer meat and honey

Yes, block 0.25 seconds or less before being hit. It costs more stamina but will stagger the enemy instantly and multiply block armor by your shield's parry bonus

You want to make food from the mushrooms 😄 they alone are not very good eitr food, and as Blob said you will want to make staff of protection if you havent already

Seeker Aspic, Yggdrasil Porridge and Stuffed Mushroom are the three eitr foods available in Mistlands. Although, it's best to use two of those and one stamina food.
