Me and my girlfriend have been playing Valheim crossplay (She's on my new MSI Laptop and I'm on Xbox Series X) for awhile now. All of a sudden two days ago, we start getting the disconnected icon in the top left corner of the screen. Neither of us can open chests, doors, go through portals. We can walk around, but each character appears frozen on the other person's screen. Occassionally it will kick her out of the game saying she got disconnected and my game will go back to normal. I've researched a lot and I'm not seeing any answers. No, I do not have Asus Gamefirst, yes, I have made Valheim run as administrator, yes i've checked firewall... The game is unplayable and I would very much like some answers. P.S., My internet runs at a very high speed so I have no clue why the connection issues are so severe.

Recently i started playing the game again and since my game has been crashing without any warning. You need to be in the area for them to tame, and you can breed wolfs from raids but it Is much harder than doing it normally

I suggest putting the boar pen near your farm so that they make progress while you're farming. That way you don't have to just idle while they're doing their thing

I've been adding builds for fun around this world that my friends just starting playing in. If they come across a build with more advanced materials than they have now they could just destroy it and get those materials and therefore unlock those recipes prematurely right? I think the only thing I could do is use a ward, but then they can't open doors or chests.

It can't be a problem, they would unlock the recipes and pieces but how could they build them? They wouldn't be able to recreate them with just dismantling existing structures

They would need to farm them, and it's to be assumed they can't at the stage they're at

That's true, but it would take the fun out of the discovery of those new recipes. I also don't know if they would even think to dismantle stuff.

Just trying to create fun discoverable areas since the procedural generation only gives you ruins with maybe one chest.

Yes, the only downside is the fire weakness so be careful around fire damage. It won't make surtlings any more dangerous though because of the wet effect's fire resistance.

Mace is still the best option against Bonemass. He is weak against blunt, resistant against slash and very resistant agains pierce.

Look for a flower similar to carrot flower, but yellow

If you use shield staff you don't need that much HP since it blocks all attacks up to breaking point so it is much more useful to have more stamina for movement and evading enemy attacks.

After defeating the boss you could go EEF (||feast from Mistlands, for balanced stats of hp and stamina plus additional eitr)||.

There is no real reason not to make it 🤔

I recommend making one. Even lvl 0 the shield is very useful.

Upgrading it also increases the lenght of the shield with 1 minute per upgrade, up to max of 4 minute duration.

Depending at the biome you're in: loot burial chambers or sunken crypts or both.
Pick up all the coins, rubies, amber pieces and sell the latter two off to Haldor.

Or Hildir or the Bog Witch.
The coin those "gems" give you will help you to buy what you need.

So that's a good opportunity to loot both.
You will need surtling cores for portals anyway and unless you find a surtling spawner in the swamp and turn that into a core / coal farm, the burial chambers are your best bet for those cores anyway.

when you went to the vegvisir, the game was on version x.x and showed you correct location for that version

then a new patch came out that moved boss locations, now the actual boss is not there anymore on version x.x+1

you have to visit a vegvisir again and it will show you a current location that works NOW

All burial chambers are like 10k up in the sky and you get teleported up when entering. So you're probably just hearing stuff from another one of the chambers that is no where close to you down on the actual map.

That's fair! There are a few spawn locations Haldor could be at, they will appear when you're nearby to the location, but don't know of any other way of finding out where one would be

If you're good at estimation, the map has a 10k meter radius, you can use that as a fair guide to guess about how far away from spawn you are, or place 750 2m wood beams down.

you can kill the boss many times as you want but if he doesnt pick up the stuff the boss drops he wont get the experience from it

They will be able to fight the same boss on their own and pick up the spoils, but some game mechanics change after defeating a boss. It tends to unlock some harder random events.

There's also something you do on the stone pillars at the center… if you do that thing, your new player will see what you've done there and be able to take advantage of what it offers without having fought the boss. You could hold off on doing that thing until they've had a chance to fight the boss.

I have a question regarding moat depth I'm hoping someone can help answer.

I've built moats and earth walls but I dislike the way they look. I understand that breaks in pathing are an obstacle for enemies and they won't cross over certain bridge constructions that have gaps. How deep does the moat have to be for that to happen? I'm wondering if I could dig a shallow moat (maybe a meter or so) and place a two stone floors down bridging over the moat but leaving a small gap. Would the enemies pathing still not allow for them to cross that floor or does the moat have to be a certain depth for that to kick in?

Hi. need help. So I've noticed on April Fool's Day and today that raid events are happening less often now. The area where my house is is pretty flat. You could delete your player preferences by opening Registry Editor and deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IronGate\Valheim
This will reset all in-game settings, which hopefully includes the broken keybind. Your saves will not be affected.

My first guess is the world files were copied from the Dedicated Server before the save interval that would have included your dig. The server keeps terrain and world inventory changes in memory, only flushing those changes to disk every 30-ish minutes by default.

The only way that can happen is if your not using actual roof pices. Any wood flooring will Leak and damage over time with rain and what's below. The roofing has to cover all floors so you have no damage.

If its on a continued running server make sure you get the map files, then you can always bring it back. Not much apart from wards you can do on Vanilla, but with mods you could use better wards mod or other people in #mods-discussion might be able to help. Your secondary roof is not attached to the end. Take out one and a wall and attach to the upper roof and then attach the wall and they will guide you to a fix.

so I'm having the exact same issue, i just finished my new house and I decided to go with tar roof pieces as well and it seems the game is bugged and is not recognizing them as roof pieces for some reason, I swapped to regular thatch roof pieces in exact spots the tar pieces were in and there's no weather damage. this should definitely be brought to a game devs attention in hopes of a minor patch fixing it.

oh i see ! before i was switching for the ashwood beams, there was no issues with tar roof. after i started to switch them, i thought it was due to ashwood beams being more easily damaged by the rain, but i remember even if its the rain, it should look like some monsters is hitting it lol

@median crest Alt + F4 after death can cause problems like that. There are 2 solutions:

1. revert your character back from your character's last backup save or
2. go on your own world and spawn back items you had with console commands.

Hello, new to the game. My base near the ocean is right in front of a spot where neck spawns. If I build an "harbour" on top of their spawn, will they keep spawning? Is there a way to prevent them from doing so at that particular spot?

'Base' items have a spawn protection range of 20m (usually) so you can use things like workbenches, fires and torches to prevent things spawning.

Placing workbenches prevents respawns, if you overlap the spherical protections nothing can spawn.

To see if you missed anything walk around with a hammer in a random workbench build mode, if it flashes red for workbench you need to place another one

No, once he's discovered he remains. But only in that one location.

Haldor has 10 possible spawn locations that are located in Black Forests which are at least 1500 meters away from the center of the world. Approaching any of these locations will permanently place Haldor there. This can happen from 320 to 453 meters away (about twice of the default minimap range) when the related Zones are generated. When discovered, his bag icon will appear on the world map. i hope this can help
