I have had some very weird chicken deaths, I think they might also get affected by load time weirdness. I have a well engineered coop where there is no way for them to get smoked or into the fire because it's a hanging brazier, and I have still a couple times come back to find dead or injured hens. It's fully protected from any outside mobs no way they could be attacked.

XMP is basically letting your memory report what speeds it can run at instead of the lowest compatible speed which is what most motherboards do by default. If you have a custom or otherwise non-large-manufacturer built machine that isn't a laptop you likely have it available.

Hoping someone can help me out. So I play on Xbox and just recently (about 600 days in) whenever I build a boat now (No matter which new game, or new character) all boats get a icy splash looking graphic under them, and the boat continues to take 10 dmg. So I tried a new character, new world, wiped the game from my Xbox, and reloaded it, and still the same experience. I hate to lose all my progress and love the game, but not willing " to start over'

Also, just because something is dark orange, doesn’t mean it’s unstable. It won’t fall or crash or get damaged or anything. The color is just an indicator that you’re running out of support. Perfectly normal for your rooves to be yellow or orange and even red, especially in the beginning.

Can anyone help me shed some light on mod spawns? I get conflicting answers on reddit and google, but we've built a pretty sizable base and we have an issue with greydwarves just spawning in the middle of it. I have work benches down. wards. torches. nothing seems to have worked? do i have to make sure every inch is covered?

yea those items should block spawns in a 20 meter radius (same as white radius shown around workbench). So if you make sure every inch is covered by that radius, no matter how many workbenches/campfires/torches etc. you have to put down, you should be safe

If there's a tiny sliver of ground that's not spawn proofed, enemies can and will spawn there.

I just went to play again and I can start the game but if i click new game it just clears as if im not starting a new character. I cant start a new world it says the save is deleted it but i just created it. I tried deleting and installing the game, repairing and deleted any previous save files

If there's a surtling spawner nearby you could lure it to that, or fire arrows if you can lure it out of the swamp a bit. But i usually parry block and chop it with an axe. But your sword and dodge rolling from its swings should be okay.

Can't parry very well on very hard, so I had to dodge roll 2 of the 3 i killed to make my root harnesk recently, so it's definitely doable. The third one i did kill with a surtling spawner.

Not much of a roof expert unfortunately, even experienced builders struggle with them often.

Best advice would just be making your house out of squares, and making sure you snap all pieces together. If pieces are slightly offset because they're not snapped together, or if you have some curves going on in the house, it's gonna be rough to roof

the short answer is that there are no flat, square thatch roof pieces. Even if you put a regular wood floor, it wouldn't count as "roofing". You can use the 26 or 45 degree 2x2 meter thatch, but it won't be flat if that was what you were hoping for

Considering you would need to make a spot for a fireplace anyway, this seems to me like a good opportunity for a single, middle raised roof to let smoke out of

hmm not really (I don't know how common the despawn bug is, haven't really tried myself). Anyways, they don't give any real gameplay rewards, its mostly just for if you wanna be a completionist or want to get a few cosmetics

Coming from Black Forest, I'd personally recommend troll hide armor (could switch out helmet for a bronze helmet, since it doesn't have a movement penalty)

Maces are good in the swamp, generally recommended. Not required tho, at least until boss

DEFINITELY make poison resist potions, and use them at all times. Health and stamina potions are good too

Use best food available. I'd personally recommend two health foods one stamina, so something like Deer Stew, minced meat, Carrot Soup

bow is good too

oh and bring Elder boss drop, not too much point to swamp without it

tbh I've never completed it myself, but I believe you get a variety of farmhouse-style clothes that reduce your stamina usage, and I think access to some beard/hair customization options (believe the options are the same as when you create character, just a way to change it)

The clothes have very little armor tho, so not intended for combat, just chores

Draugr are the viking looking ppl, the undeads, I usually fight them with mace and shield. But before I cqc, I snipe them with the bow until they get too close

They're quite weak to blunt weapons, so parry with shield and then just mby heavy attack them or spam light attack

As for leeches, bow and arrows, cuz fck their poison, but you can make poison resistance food then u can fight close

As for abominations, aka walking trees, fire arrows are good, if you want to fight close, then at the minimum use bronze sword and shield, parry his attacks spam some light attacks, conserve stamina ofc, then repeat it. Try to stand away from water, like kite him to where there's most land and then not THAT many enemies, because then you'll have to fight multiple yk

My squad and I just recently started up a new play through after being away for about 8-10 months. All was normal, we get to swamp today, and we're all feeling a huge increase in mob density and spawn rate, are we imagining things or was there a spawn rate patch I didn't notice?

When I came under attack by a Serpent. I don't think I can get to shore - no wind - and the boat is now less than half HP.

If it's a storm spawn it stays until killed. Ifit's a night spawn it will be there when it's loaded in again, but will despawn quickly if it's daytime.

Get the weakest item that uses a specific class and use it against some strong enemies until it breaks, because skills increase by a set amount every hit.

I've never grinded for a skill though, I just keep playing with the low damage.

You might want to grind a bit with the mistwalker, but the magic is balanced to be effective at the level you acquire it, just like the crossbow skill. If anything I would recommend taking the magic staves out just to test them and be sure how they work, how many shots you get before running low on magic, etc.

The abominations strongly resist piercing damage, it takes about 10x as long to kill them with arrows as it does to just parry them and chop them down, especially if you have decent blocking skills and a bronze buckler or better, decent food, etc.

That's often because they can be wet in the swamp, which puts out the fire effect. Not to mention the fire arrows are relatively weak damage to begin with because they're from the first biome.

Are there a bunch of necks or something? There is a limit to the number of things that can spawn in an area, so it helps to kill literally everything and you are likely to get a deer or boar to spawn eventually.

The actual dungeon itself? No. They can be hard to see at times though, especially if you approach it from a different direction. And if you marked it while being physically in it it can be offset by 10-20m at times just because of how some of that works.

Hello all!, My brother and I have been playing Valheim and we have been progressing through the game together. I also play on a single player map I have where I just build stuff.

My question is this, if I use debug on my single player game using flying and building without resources. Will it have an effect on the dedicated server I play on with my brother? I don't want to unlock anything or advance my character in anyway that will carry over to our dedicated server.

Use a different character than the one you play with your brother, would be my suggestion. If you build items or benches, your character learns those things.

If you have this problem with all games, then it is a pc problem, not a valheim problem.
Have your games incl. Valheim been running ok before? If so, I would go start a game, and if it lags again open the task manager to see which application is eating up all those frames. If it is the game you are trying to run, then your pc is probably too slow.

Pretty tough. Be careful when walking in, first time i fell through a hole into a bunch of enemies and getting my stuff back was really difficult

Make sure you leave a portal by the entrance, and kill all the seekers nearby that are protecting it. You don't want a surprise when you come back out 😉 Other than that... yeah. Have a backup plan, AoE weapons are super useful, and a root harnesk is highly recommended because seekers and ticks do a lot of piercing damage.

They do great sneak attack damage, they level quickly due to the fast attack speed (which gives thema better damage gain over time than something like a sword), and personally I just really like their fast attack speed and low stamina use

Sneak with "ctrl". Most people don't use sneaking a bunch but it's alright. Just stay out of sightlines of enemies and don't get too close

Sneak attacks happen anytime you attack an enemy who is not aware of you. Easily done with bows, but you'll get better damage if you sneak up on someone and use the secondary knife attack. Abyssal razor with a bit of knife skill can oneshot trolls on a sneak attack

Simply put, a macro (in gaming, at least) is a sort of automation of key/mouse input. Instead of clicking or typing several things you click one thing and it does all the things.

does anyone have any tips on how to get some sort of stability in FPS, especially in the mistlands? I feel like im playing a powerpoint presentation at times. I have my gfx jobs config setup in the config file, exclusive fullscreen selected and it has high priority in windows processes. I'm on a laptop with RTX 2070 Max Q and 32 GB of RAM, so I dont think my specs are the issue. My ingame graphics are on medium/low, with only draw distance on high and render scaling on native (1440p res). Anyone got any tips? its honestly unplayable at times

Be inside preferably with resting buff (not just rested, RESTING) for quick stamina gain. Put a floor tile right above your head. Continually jump, then stop for a few sec to regen stamina.

Floor tile above head helps because you don't jump as high, meaning you get back down to the ground so you can jump again faster

Think you need to have enough stamina for a full jump to get xp tho (so something like 10-13 stamina)

I think they changed it to be you need to reach the full height of the jump to get the xp but I may be mistaken

Blocking and parrying abilities. Buckler has lower blocking but a higher parry multiplier, so when you parry it's better defense, but if you just block it is lower defense.

I usually use a normal shield. It can parry most attacks a buckler can but still has decent blocking. It’s up to you, though.

And because a buckler caused my only death in mountains, but that’s my problem.

If you can parry reliably the buckler is better, yes. But blocking uses less stamina, so a regular shield can help you preserve stamina with a higher armor build. It all depends on playstyle.
