Even cores are easy.

Craft a club, check out the Dolmen in the Meadows as they often have skelletal remains.
Use the skeletal remains to upgrade your club and your wooden shield.
All can be done with a tier 3 workbench. (workbench + chopping block + tannery rack).

Once you got a level 2 shield and club, enter the burial chambers and kill more skellies to get more bones, so you can upgrade things to level 3.

With that you should be strong enough to deal with skellies. If not, just kite one, kill it, move in, kite one, kill it and so forth.

You can upgrade your leather outfit in between as well, or move to troll outfit and upgrade that with the bones you get.

Gather 5 cores, create 3-4 stacks of charcoal, demolish the kiln, create the smelter, smelt copper and tin, craft the cauldron and forge, build the adze, craft the maximum level gear, move in burial chambers and keep collecting cores.

Perhaps building your base like a treehouse, using a large stone pillar? So long as the pillar stands, so will your build. I bet if you raise the ground around the base of the pillar so that creatures can't easily damage it, it could be quite secure.
Earthen walls (raised ground using the hoe) are also generally a great defense against creatures like Trolls and Lox as they can't destroy the dirt. Wishing you luck and success!

Hey all, I'm about mid-iron age, ready to kill Biomass, but want to rebuild my base to look better instead of like this. Anyone feel like letting me take a look at their setup? Youtube clips seem overly too complex with factories and late game things. Would be kind of curious to check out someone else's world. Hm, can we not post screenshots here?
