that's because with bubble there IS almost no threat as long as you prioritize refreshing it 😂
well still have to worry about multihit attacks like queen slam but yea
What if bubble took 130 eitr to activate?
game doesn't have a lot of multi hit attacks 😢
Probably wouldn't change much tbh
would make mid-combat refreshes harder, but unless you're out of stam you shouldn't have much trouble since sprinting doesn't stop eitr regen
and with a halfway decent run skill your eitr regens much faster than your stam depletes even in a full sprint
it would hurt hybrid builds a lot though
If i wanted to nerf it i'd probably remove the overflow gate instead since that's what makes it truly broken
Eh personally I’d disagree
If you’re playing on normal the shields absorbs plenty damage with it’s regular hp, especially once you get blood magic going
I think a while back I suggested giving it a cooldown proportional to how much damage was taken or something like that
cooldown after the shield being broken is the way
i remember trying to do magic in ashlands first time….. it was unplayable for me til vine staff, and i found just parrying and stabbing things killed way faster. besides vine staff i really dont understand the magic craze
Too skilled to be a mage
once you upgrade your staff of embers & frost to lvl 4 it's not really been a problem for me
staff of embers twoshots twitchers and marksmen and frost staff kills voltures, valks, asksvin and warriors
fader having a single 348+ hit attack makes up for it
with level 3 staves it's a bit of a struggle though
also hugely skill dependant
you need about 40-45 elemental magic skill for it to feel good in ashlands imo
do they have a planned release date on the new update or is it just going to come unexpectedly?
what's the ingredient's for poison resist?
its honey thistle necktail and coal
i dont remember how much you needed of each
neck tail
do you make poison mead ever
strange i cant make it I have thoses
where are you trying to make it
this might be a crazy question but are you using the potion crafting station?
yeah haha i was gonna ask
mead kettle
using any silly mods?
do you see the recipe when you go into the mead kettle
nope
are you 100% sure that you have once had honey, thistle, neck tail, and coal in your inventory?
yeah sure do
you can see other potion recipes?
What recipes do you see in the mead ketil?
maybe share a screenshot in #screenshots ?
try asking in #mods-issues That's clearly a modded screenshot
Its either modded or from the looks of it, hes not playing in non-pc?
what modd would be a problem?
i dont even know whats happening in the screenshot
impossible to say, mods make bugs and break all the time
we do not know what mod could be a problem... any and all of them or none... you need to ask in mod issues they can maybe help
or try deaktivating one by one until you find the one that broke the mead ketil
mods are dangerous terrain - might break on any update of either the game or the mod 😄 best bet - deaktivate and see what caused the issue
Same way why i stopped playing modded sky, i downloaded like my 350th mod in the list and it broke the game, couldn't figure it out how to fix it and i just uninstalled everything
I use only a very few mods if any. Only ones that do not alter the gameplay (like the tubamod) or only make vanilla prefabs buildable (for one builder world where I try out stuff) or plant everything (for said builder world). Mods can be cool but Valheim is cool already without any mods, and I like me the gameplay as it is, so I would not want to modify anyway. less mods less stuff that can break your game 😄
I stick to admin mods and QoL ones. Ones you can remove without breaking the map, basically.
That's largely why i don't use mods with custom assets, as cool as all the furniture and base mods are.
Then I see screenshots of amazing buildings, and I start to reconsider.
in MY day, we didnt USE mods! you want to load coal faster into your furnace?-then you spasm your entire arm to mash your button! uphill both ways!
personally I never use mods that alter the content of the game. Like new prefabs from bamboo or stuff. I tried out a few but I find them lackluster anyways. I embrace the creativity to make a nice base with what the game gives me 😄 I love the tubawalk mod (so funny) and i use plant everything to plant things next to my base and that is about it 😄 Anybody can play how they want that is just my humble opinion.
imho coal loads plenty fast in vanilla. I love me a more contemplative gameplay. If I would want fast paced action I would do more trophy hunts and probably speedruns 😄 LOL
imo anyone using mods is missing out on the very intentional design of the game.
it does, but i cant un-know i can spasm my arm and load it 2x faster.
for me mods are for when i'm done with vanilla (either finished or too bored to continue). Hasn't happened for Valheim yet so i'm playing unmodded for now.
maybe that is just me but i never ever felt the need for any QoL-Mod at all 😄 maybe I am more patient than the next person... I dunno - I do not even complain about inventory size 😄 LOL
that's why you bind an E-spamming macro to an extra button. We have the technology!
eh, but even that feel wrong
i still remember the blisters i had from playing Street Fighter. I don't need carpal tunnel from playing Valheim too 😂
where does it end, making a macro that clicks exactly the right tempo to maximize crop space? extend weapon swings as long as possible?
haha, true story and this is how old i am… when i played ninja turtles in time on NES, i used to tape my thumb so i could slide my thumb across the buttons and do the op jump attack, because backinmyday games didnt have saves and you had to play an hour straight at least to beat them
and we didnt have dlc’s and when we beat the game we said “that was great” and did it all over
sounds about like how old I am 😄 playing games that had save points and you had to play until you reached on or start over from the start 😄
yeah that’s some super nintendo newfangled technology
actually the one char no going back (unless you manipulate the save files) approach that valheim has - I love that so much!
Or I remember with my game boy, the batteries would be dying and I’m like “no I’m so close” and having to turn the brightness down gradually as the battery slowly died as I approach the final boss
When will the far north be released?
when it's done
the DEV said: when it is ready 😄
and people complain the swamp is too dark never played a gameboy at night in the backseat waiting for the next street light to go by
if swamp is to dark... then your eyes are probably to old (swamp is dark at night - I rarely go there 50+ eyes do not see as good as they did back then 😄
i love swamp lighting, its a dark swamp ur not supposed to see
you can see a few dark somethtings walking toward you = intended spooky design
people complaining even more about my favorite biome: the mist is too misty.. can not see... (I love Mistlands most of all biomes)
Has anyone used that one mod to unexplore biomes that haven't been developed yet?
Cause I got a map i worked a lot on that hasn't even seen the Mistlands yet.
Except the empty parts i already explored.
ugh. that one i agree with. i like initial exploration and mystery, but gimme a break. wisp lights need to clear WAY more mist.
I disagree... can not see? use your ears 😄 I love the mistlands just the way they are 😄
I have done multiple no-wisplight runs by now. There's tons of mist-free mistlands in pretty much every world. All it takes is a few minutes of sailing and you never even have to set foot into the mist before going to the Queen's citadel to fight her (which you can do blind just fine with a map marker to follow).
heh, well yeah i do. and that part is cool. seeing my first gjall float down through mist onto me was amazing. i just want to clear mist at some point. my mistlands looks like a blue christmas tree and theres still mist above, below, its so much i bring stacks and stacks of wisps every time
like i have an entire screenshot folder of mist-free mines, dvergr towers and base building spots by now they're so common
difference between can and should
I do only set up some torches around the place I am working at right now. So 10 around the skull I am hacking at and then when done take them down and carry on. unlikely I will need to see clearly at that spot ever again - so no need to turn all of the Mistlands into a christmas tree and hack down so many trees to make torches 😄 but that is maybe just pragmatic little old me
yeah they are, i usually explore via boat when i first hit mistlands just to find poi’s on the shore exposed, some mistlands are utterly merciless with almost no bare patches and its suffocating after a bit
I am way to busy staying alive to feel suffocated most of the time 😄 running around in fenris with root vest at the start of Mistland exploration 😄
a maxed BM shield, draugr fang, frost arrows & frostner kinda make seekers a non-issue. Don't even need any of the non-magic upgrades beyond Mistwalker since the weapons are worse (for the biome) and the armor not necessary
but like some mistlands have been soooo terrible. for example i finally find a flat-ish bare-ish spot, and start making my farm “you can’t plant there”. also rabbit hunting, i have to make spots i can actually see them
ya seekers are easy, the issue isnt dying the issue is omfg where is everything
easiest way to farm rabbits i've found is to look for small mistlands islands that have lots of rabbits on them (not rare) then put a ring of inward facing sharp stakes on it and a portal 20+m away.
Needs repairs occassionally but the knockback from the spikes pushes the loot into the middle so it doesn't fall into the water.
as a person who plays no map and enjoys wandering around finding locations and merchants i zero enjoy wandering SOME mists biomes that have no chill and entirely consist of foggy spines
I tame lox at the border and have them do the rabbit hunting - makes it way easier get significant amouts of hare meat and pelt 😄 And yes the black soil can not be planted upon you need grassy spots 😄
true i makes spikes around just to kill rabbits they love them spikes
I am soooooo looking forward to deep north ... I am sure it is going to be soooo much fun
Aren't we all?
Though i still need to clear out a couple fortresses for upgrade mats so not now please 😋
I mean - I wish for the devs to take as long as they need to make it just really good... but I am also giddy with glee just thinking of it coming out 😄
what if the changes are so drastic you want to start a fresh run to experience like new inventory and combat or whatever
I have several worlds right at the brink of killing fadder so I can start into it as soon as it comes out (of course I never went anywhere near north in those worlds)
I'm way too impatient for that lol
I'll do that AFTER i finish DN with my current char/world
same, i have 3 i think post-fader, id have to choose one of them, or depending on the changes start new
I will start a new run anyways ... I have started countless in the 5k hours I have invested in this game.. but getting there ASAP and see what is there is to tempting
I'm mostly worried about having enough gems to upgrade all my weapons
since it takes 5 to go from level 2 to 4
killing Fader is a lot less effort
and as soon as you get to deep north, there could be better weapons lol
you will take my staff of the wild when you pry it from my cold, dead hands
also wouldn't be surprised if DN weapons need gems too
seems a bit of a waste to drop the concept after a single biome
before the ashlands came out I made a point to have everything up to best I can and a box of all the stuff that might be needed at the ready (wooden box full of eitr) 25 extra black cores, and so on... served me well ...will do the same for DN
also iron but that probably goes without saying 😂
gonna collect enough gems to have some at the ready for new stuffs and then have enough flametal and other stuffs that lay around south and then we will see. Also there is no shame in going back and getting more if needed 😄 Iron seems to be ALWAYS needed
I'm in my hundred hours now and this game is so good except the inventory slots 🤣
What's a good starting amount of meads for when I go to the swamp?
New world and rancid remains trophy on first kill 😆
Looks like the odds are in my favour today!
A stack of each stamina, health and poison, plus whatever weapon ones. Im playing with mods so might have different info
drink one bring a second to refresh to free up the slot when you use it. By the time 20 minutes are up it's getting toward nighttime and you'll probably need to drop off loot anyway so no reason to bring more unless you're playing no portals
also once you figure out how to fight blobs and leeches without getting poisoned you don't really need them anymore until Bonemass
Is there a way to get a bear trophy faster? I've been hunting bears a lot and they haven't dropped any trophy at all. We have plenty of bear meat because of it, I just need a head, man.
sadly no - trophy drops are a set % drop rate and some are very difficult to get
Damn, if only I don't have work tomorrow, I won't sleep until I get one.
Steal it from haldor.
He won’t mind
I forgot you can do this
What armor level do you guys recommend for the swamp? I currently have 31 with the upgraded troll set
Troll is fine. So is Bronze.
Troll and Bronze are fine all the way into the Mountain as well.
Sounds good enough. Remember better food options from cauldron.
My advice. Build 2 kegs and make both minor and poison resist potions in them and then repeat that so you have 12 of each and you have 6 of each whole the other 6 are fermenting. It pays to have more than one keg when you want to have potions quickly and not run out of them. Also once you plant and harvest Turnips, check the Kettle and Cauldron and see what new recipes you unlock.
Oh yeah, I already crafted a crap ton of deer stew and I have jams as well
Ahead of you, I have two fermenters and I already have almost two stacks of poison resistance. I'm working on getting stamina and healing
Depending on your playstyle, having carrot soup (stamina) or minced meat/bear meat (hp) as 3rd food option is solid choice.
Also one extra tip. If you have the Harpoon unlocked, go Serpent hunting at night or when it is raining by sailing out in the ocean and try to kill a Serpent so you can craft the Serpent shield and also use the Serpent meat for some crazy good health food for the Swamp level
I really wish they would have serpents spawn anytime rather than only at night or with rain.... Like it used to be a few patches back
Given how strong most of the swamp enemies are I'll most likely be using my fully upgraded finewood bow. I have a level 2 bronze mace and buckler as well just in case. and I also have fully upgraded early axes as well so I'm pretty good with weapons but I still need to be careful for the swamp
for now I'm just preparing meads
And then once I have that I actually need to go find a swamp
Being prepared is always a good idea.
I don't really have a choice when it comes to the swamp
that damn area is scary af
Sounds good. I have tested the Early axes now during 4 first biomes and they still carry well. Cons for it is low block armor, but you can parry with buckler and quickly change for axes for dealing good damage, has worked well for me.
Those of us who have hundreds or thousands of hours in the game can tell you that as scary as it is, you will actually look forward to going there in future playthroughs assuming you stick around
That's fair. And yeah biggest downside is that you can't use a shield with them. I'm not a fan of switching between weapons too much because it's too distracting but it's def an option
You will always need iron, so you will be in the Swamps a lot assuming a full playthrough of the game, you need Iron bars throughout the entire game including Mistlands and Ashlands
Even though I'm still a beginner I'm really looking forward to getting past the swamp and unlocking the advanced building options. I can't wait to get access to masonry and build a better base
swamp was where the game really started getting fun for me
The main thing that I am keeping in mind when I find a swamp is to dock my ship in a safe biome (aka meadows) (I hope there is one nearby) and also build a portal there as well and just travel to the swamp
Honestly I don't care about dying in the game but what makes me rage quit is having to start over and travel all the way back to where I died just to get my stuff back
having backup portals is definitely a must
If you play without modifying the portal toggle in the World Modifiers options, my advice is don't leave the Swamp and sail back home until your Karve's cargo hold is full of iron
and it's not like they're expensive once you find your first flame geyser
Alternatively: Leave if your first crypt has 10 iron or more.
Go home, make the better boat, THEN come back and fill that boat.
Swamp can be devastating jump in difficulty for new players due to larger amount of enemies appearing and having environmental challenge (always rainy) which eats some stamina regen. But once it's conquered the next biome steps should be bit easier.
This is very valid too. However I just find it worth more to make one trip rather than two but I guess you do make two trips either way. At least you can go back build the boat and smelt the bars down and return to the Swamp with iron gear
One thing that confuses me about traveling in valheim is that once I get to the swamp is there really a big reason for me to build a portal since I'm going to be traveling by boat anyway?
Yes.
you only need to travel by boat when carrying metal
if you just want to pop back to base to eat or sleep or restock on supplies there's no need to make the trip
You usually want to return to your base to rest and repair equipment, also in case you die you can get quickly back.
Portal is good for refreshing Rested, also for bringing out all non-metal so you keep your boat slots specifically for your metals.
Okay true
I just don't want to have to keep building boats in order to get back to my base when I have non-teleporting items
but the part about getting there quickly when I die is a good point
you can portal the parts for a longship too
It would be hilarious if they remove early axes for 1.0
so just destroy it in shallow water so the nails don't sink too deep, pick it up and reassemble it on the other side
That's really good to know
thank you
Are the only items that can't be portaled just raw ore and ingots?
there's a few more. The summoning items for the mountain boss, a couple quest items and some crafting bits in the last two biomes
Almost typed the exact same thing word for word. 😅
Also good to know. But there's not really any items other than iron that I won't be able to teleport in the swamp area?
nope
Tbh I'm an all or none with portals. Either let me take everything, or play a no portal run
yaaa do it! no portals ftw!
What does “ftw” mean?
Also; what’s up, everybody.
I've never played with portals, I feel the same
Ftw = for the win.
In the group server we have been treating it like minecraft. Double resources and just having fun building
I never touched the ressource drops, but I just might. It is a bit abbysmal to level and entire forest for little more than a large cabin
I think cutting down the grind by setting resources to 1.5 is pretty reasonable
I wish there were separate options for resource drop and node frequency.
I'm glad Valheim got so popular they've made the biomes irl
I really enjoy the hardest enemy difficulty, more frequent raids (haven’t done player based raids on high enemy difficulty) and 1.5-2x drop frequency and slightly reduced skill reduction.
Once you’ve done a play-through it’s a really nice curve and gives more opportunities for building and less farming time.
The stuff you always end up with too much of you still end up with too much of (I may or may not have a Giza pyramid worth of bone stacks in one of my wolds.)
But the drop frequency for building is a nice rhythm change.
Any idea when the deep north gets fully released
Blizzard time.
Oh, and once you turn fire hazards on and understand them you’ll never turn back.
the only good thing about fire hazards is making coal
That and bonus damage to enemies when they run over environmental fire. I hate waiting on coal. The damage residual is fun. And the hazards generally only mess with your building until you hit iron and masonry.
I wish fire hazarrds were more hazardous
Hello all! LFG girls/gays that play valheim :3
Look no further than #1024264966712340510 😄
Did you aquire that name through trial and error🤣
I did aquire it by drake not dying to poison and i was too lazy to pull out bow again to finish it off, so i punched it xD
-# And since Hyper (moderator here) watched me do it he did a play on his name as he is "Puncher of Birds" 😄
sorry if im in thw wrong place, buti cant find a solid answer. twice my mapped got messed up on PC and Steamdeck. is there an easy fix causer i cant even find the caches to erase, i tried resetting the maps and they still are wrong. any help would be greatly appreciated
twiced mapped what?
It's been a while, but I remember there used to be that minimap generation bug, had to clear the caches to resync it? Maybe they were bit by that or have a similar issue?
the mini map wasnt showing what i was seeing. like where it showed land it was ocean
yea that. i cantfind the caches to erase them, so i tried resetting the map and it still showed up wrong
oh
that issue is usually because you re-use a worlds name. and the old minimap files still exists
ooooh.... thank you
🙂
I thought I have a feeling of frost caves
I thought that flesh rippers and frostner+shield combo are great
I went into the cultist complex
and I found 5 of them
5 Karl!
that was quite too much
Man I just started to hate the mountain right now. I cannot go a freaking second without a golem spawning
Yeah, 5 can burn you down real fast.
bloody hell
At least golems are easy to out run, and fight everything else. So getting them to tangle with drakes distracts them for a good while.
do you have a harpoon? I dig a pit and drag them into it.
Yeah I rarely
bother fighting them
yeah I don't want to bother with fighting them.
But I just can't do any set up anything in this second mountain when I always have a golem on my ass
Whoever decided to add bears to this thank you so much 😭🙏
Golems aren't that hard to beat. If your on skewers and sausage you should have no problem at least blocking them, if not parrying, and blunt works great for beating them down, so I typiclaly use the iron mace.
yeah it's not hard it's just annoying.
they are a damage sponge, that's a pain in the ass
I've said that about pretty much every mob at one proint or another. 😄 😄
I can't say I disliked any mob before
In 1000 hours of playing I don’t think I’ve gotten a single golem trophy
I dislike bears. Until I get at least a bronze weapon. Their HP takes FOREVER with the flint axe, for example.
Ooze bombs are really handy in the caves, as are poison arrows 😉
Many times groups of cultists won't even get to me if you do it right
I get at least one every play through, but it usually involved 30+ golems dying.
Bears are so fun to fight once you turn their own claws against them
I think even on hard I can take their hp to half with one bear claws sneak attacks
I lost like 3 levels on my bow, sucks
The Early Axes are nice against bears as well
Ive yet to try those, I bet they are
Aren't they on par with bronze axes? So makes sense.
that's an IF
with all those curtains...
stone?
Something like maxed early axes is same slash as lvl 1 bronze? But early attacks faster
The ooze bombs will go through those 😉 Just throw 'em everywhere, they don't hurt you.
True. I usually get fire wine early now a days, so don't need to use them until Mistlands. Even though I do use them every so often when I get fulings to bunch up.
😭😭
I returned with crystal battleaxe and am once again convinced it is a superior weapon
whynotboth.gif 😉 I'll spam an area with a couple ooze bombs, swap weapons and clean up whatever is left, they're usually significantly weakened by that.
I have still yet to use it
omds lost everything to a serpent my first time fighting one on a voyage to get everything back and the wind is against me 😐
nvm I can't hate the mountains because of how freaking goofy the drakes are.
Just saw one get slapped by a golem so hard it flew across the map.
And then the next one started a charge at the same time it was killed by my arrow and guess what? The body flew across the map
First time I had a serpent spawn was when I was coming back home right after killing the elder and it almost destroyed my karve, but I won fortunately.
i am now on a raft
it destroyed mine and just murdered me
now ima have to farm for another boat
cant send gifs 😡
Nope. Prevents cluttering the channel, big public servers can get... interesting.
Losing your first boat is a rite of passage 😉 Hopefully it was a night-spawned one and not one from a storm... if it was in a storm then it won't go away until you dispatch it
if this serpent gets me again im deleting the game
it was in the night i guess im lucky
Head whichever way the wind is blowing as fast as you can... but don't use a raft. Serpents will destroy a raft with no issues at all and you can't outrun them that way.
Yeah.. until you get a longboat and a good bow, you should probably avoid sailing at night 😉
im to broke to craft another boat XD
im tryna find swamps and i have the bow above crude bow is that enough?
So... bad news, the only part of the boat that you can recover is the wood, and anything in the cargo hold. Nails, hides and resin all sink.
i figured that out after i js almost drowned searching lmao
i loved sailing and this has js put me off
Pro tip for swamps, do NOT land directly in the swamps at your current gear level. You will regret it. Land on a more accessible biome nearby, set up a safe portal and walk in.
Yeah... sail only during the day, and go to shore in storms. That way you'll avoid serpents, at least until you've got the gear and skills to counter them.
is level 2 copper everything and stagbreaker not good enough? i have poision and health potions for the swamps as well
im only on normal
Yeah, that should be reasonable. What's your food situation? Food is the most critical thing to make sure you're doing well with.
Carrot soup, deer stew, got those in decent amounts?
i have like stews and boar jerky queens jam and carrot soup
i can send my inventory i also sucked everything up before i died
Gotcha. Yeah, jerky is ok for traveling, but you get more total stats from the stews and such. As long as you've got those, you should be good. Make it a priority to find turnip seeds in the swamps.
okay thank you im still lost in the game tbh ive only been in dark forest for my first 90 days
tryna steam roll copper and tin for like workbench upgrades and cooking upgrades
I love when they fly to me after being killed, i feel like a big magnet😁
I didn't expect obisidian to be so plentiful, I am actually gonna use something else than wooden arrows
cause battle axe pretty much oneshots them anyway
Nice. Yeah... remember that there's no clock in the game, no downsides to taking as long as you want or need to prepare 😉
it's really cozy to just screw around a safe base, admire the scenery
yeah i watched some guy do it hardcore he gave up on like day 500 XD something about a level 2 big cockroach looking thing
so most of that gave me a general idea but still im a timmy atm
😄 😄 Those aren't easy on standard settings.
i thought everything was easy on normal mode
XD im finished if i js died on hardcore i woulda gave up
starred enemies are a big threat past the first few biomes
they can easily kill a well-prepared player in 1-2 hits
like past swamps or dark forest 😭 im getting worried to venture past the main island
a starred brute can one-shot you at level
Plains (fifth biome) is where you should stop playing around with them, at that point you should practice no-hitting new enemies so you're not killed by the starred variants.
no-hitting?
kill it without taking any damage (including blocked hits)
and if you find a new enemy with stars, approach it very carefully or come back later
biggest pain of crafting arrows is wood.
I didn't notice how I got full chest of obsidian
I think its feathers until you get chickens.
Yeah, I pretty much have to shoot every bird I see to keep supplied with feathers until I get chickens.
I kill every bird I can see
its the day im setting sail again 😭 pray please
in the mountains i am a billy goat 🐐
I usually have a few chest worths of wood always. I plant around 50 beech trees, and chop them down in 2 normal hits with the elder power. Then I use a special attack to both destroy the stump and split the log in half before it falls, and that causes the logs to fall on each other and turn into planks
nah, I ran out of wood way to many times, and never had problems with feathers
2 hits? sounds too slow
it feels hard going back into the game again
any advices for how y'all come back after long breaks?
I usually start up a new world with little to no expectations, and just kinda try to have fun. I don’t go in with any grand visions or plans, I let those come to me over time.
This is great advice
everywhere i go its js storms in the sea and tbh im not try sail in that i see an island in the distant i get half way and im kinda js stuck in a storm its getting kinda tiring
yeah, RNG be damned, wind is always against you.
js happened again set sail not even 10 seconds the wind is js holding me back ngl only have 50 hours in the game but its happend that much its js a valheim thng
it's very much a Valheim thing.
It's actually your fault, not Odin's. YOU always want to sail upwind.
NAH this guy has something against me 😭
But I already have a world, and it's a bit advanced. mountains region is next for me
one time I ate it and lost my karve, tried to get my stuff with a raft and a serpent appeared, killed me, then I went to launch my 2nd raft and there were TWO serpents there, in the BF shallows, under clear blue skies. You can have some very very bad luck in this game.
i got my stuff with a raft XD but i recrafted my karve went looking for a swamp biome just got stuck in a storm with a serpent js about made it out (ps im not going back there)
also if you bring 6x copper to your swamp, and portal mats, you can craft the nails for a longship immediatly
In a that case, it’s actually pretty similar. I had a world that I stopped playing right before Yagluth, then picked it up like 8 months later.
Just get back into your world, start of with some simple leisurely activities like farming/woodcutting/mining.
build something small that adds character to your world- small farm shack, stone ruins, chicken coop… stuff like that. Ease your way back into your world, and you may just fall in love with it again!
I've been just inside my base for 3 hours just staring at what I've built
js 6 copper do u not need iron for longship?
copper for a forge, then you get 5 iron from the swamp, smelt it there, and make nails, and farm the ancient bark too
noted thank you!
10 iron, actually.
Nuh-uh. 2* seeker soldier behind a few hanging threads of goo. I think I'll just smash my sledge through the walls of the staircase next door about 8000 times instead, thanks.
bile bombs?
they'd destroy the threads holding him back. Ooze bombs will take even longer.
are you sure? I remember using those to cheese mines
ooze bombs yes. bile bombs do fire damage. will destroy doors & stuff.
at least that's how I recall it.
Ya know you can sail sideways, right?
If you can see land the you only need like 5 minutes tops to get to it even through upwind and storm
the problem was there was a serpent that almost got me take a look in screenshots XD
Unless you are on raft, serpent won't catch up to you
Also they are kinda easy to defeat with some arrows, but only if you want to
i was on a karve and was sailing upwind into it boat took many hits before i could out run it i was using flint arrows on it
You can't outrun them on just the oar anyways. You do need wind to outrun them. So your doing fine under the circumstances.
Only door a bile bomb won't destroy is the stone doors.
yeah i did a U turn thats why the boat took hits lmao
The Karve can survive a surprising number of hits, but I still feel far more comfortable in the longboat.
Also, afair, serpents don't spawn in daytime
Yep. They spawn in rain/storms during the day, and at night. Preferably with rain/storms, so you get two checks per area.
Just don't sail DIRECTLY upwind
Always sideways.
Don't expect good experience from doing all the work especially against the wind
Nah by the time longboat turns I can discover half the world map on Karve
Heh, while the longboat does turn slowly, its no where near that slow. I also prefer the Karve for when I am just exploring.
Now the drakkar is freaking slow, but again, not that slow. I only use that for getting into and out of the Ashlands. I hate that thing.
I got capsized in my first karve, in the ocean, I stay in the shallows mainly with it, the longship you can just do whatever
I only ever capsized going max speed in a bad storm, so in storms I only go half sail. Haven't even come close to capsizing since.
You still get nocked off course a lot, so have to correct your direction like every 20 seconds when its storming.
Are we talking about boat being destroyed or just beached?
destroyed
man, my first sailing was on a raft, through storm
couple waves completely soaked my viking,
he should have been swept away... but it stayed upright
also only time I saw ship capsize was when Karve's sail gotpushed by the storm under my pier's roof and it dragged it down somehow
Yeah, done that being stubborn sailing through shallows that were 100% deep enough to sail, but had some bumps. 😁
Never had my boats destroyed like that. Damaged, sure, but I always was able to repair well before they got destroyed.
Closest I've ever gotten to having my boat destroyed, aside from serpents, is a freaking squitto that chased me halfway across the map.
I have no fishing pole, but the storm I'm in is providing me with fish. What fun!
I got a pike, a perch, and 4 trollfish.
Why are there so many fucking Gjalls 😭
I’ve killed five so far, and seen eight
I’ve seen one every single in-game day of being in the mistlands
That's mistlands
why in the hell cultivator has Q and E not work?!
does it even have snapping?!
no
ohh man, Emma Potato's tip about Mistlamp farming in the swamp blows my mind.
then why we can't pick up items while using cultivator?
what purpose does that restriction serve?
I think it's all base tools. Hammer and hoe are the same.
maybe related to them being 2h tools.
Hmm? What’s happening? Q and E don’t have functionality with the cultivator? 🤔
Don't think so.
yea q and e swap tabs on stuff, but cultivator doesn't have tabs
like on hammer I use q and e to swap between workbench / portal giga fast
q /e also change snap points and cultivator doesn't have that option either
Why does it matter so much? 😅
Should I use the frostner or silver sword for yagluth?
I am leaning towards sword but that’s only because I like using swords lol
exactly what I am saying
which skill is higher? between swords/clubs
silver sword is best dmg assuming skills are equivalent
because that's an obvious QoL
- it's confusing to even have snapping points mentioned incultivator UI
- it removes ability to pick up items with cultivator in hands
So it matters because it's obvious... but it's also confusing?
🙃
any news as to when the deep north will be released
its been almost 2 years since the ashlands released
When it is ready.
Terraria’s recent update took about 3 years. Stardew valley was like 3-4 🤔
Sometimes, quality just takes time. Just the way the cookie crumbles 🍪
Don't crumble the cookie!
it matters because it disables feature - picking up items.
and at first it is confusing, then you realise that it is something they just left to be
Iforgot to eat so I died from TWIG...
while waiting for onions to grow up...
Sometimes TWIG gives… sometimes he takes…
I don't know how to do spoiler tags on mobile but I just beat the 4th boss for the first time ever and man it was by FAR the best boss so far
Hi, I just saw a news video about Valheim's new biome, and it says that version 1.0 will be released afterward. Do you know if that's true? Do you know if they'll continue making more biomes after this one, or could this be the last? Thanks
1.0 = Deep north
hopefully 2.0 will be the deep south update ive been asking for
Deep north is the last biome in the game, they don't have plans to make any more, they do have plans for updates post 1.0, but don't expect anything major
coconut cake, plantations, sugar cane crop, cicada infestations, crocodiles, etc
also diseases carried by mosquitoes
well maybe not deep south. shallow south perhaps?
also make it 15 billion degrees with 100% humidity. idk what humidity would do, maybe half stamina regen?
good idea
also make it so the only way to regen stamina is to retire in a retirement home
with retirement home structures scattered around that serve food and drink
💡
honestly impressive smiffee hasnt asked me for my credentials
the main trash enemy of the deep south would be retirees (melee with cane, ranged with false teeth, caster with dangnabbit), and the big enemy would be politicians who would carry around a briefcase with laws that failed to pass. they attack by reciting those laws and depending on the law, it applies a different negative status effect on you and does damage
also make the biome have both land and swamps, to be more like the very deep south
Oh... it was true then... they won't be making any more biomes after the next one, and they've confirmed it. What a shame... I was hoping at least that they'd make more in the future.
Finishing a game is a good thing though?
main resource of the biome would be sunshine drops which require the Ultra Cane (crafted with stuff from retirees and the biomes tree wood) to mine. the Ultra Cane is a multi tool that can mine anything
sunshine deposits are found when bits of the sun fall from the sky, similar to meteors
all good things must come to an end
the trees in the biome have a 10% chance to be sentient trees and will lash out at players and smack them. sentient trees drop more logs as well as a 5% chance to drop the heart of gold. The heart of gold could be used to make the biomes magic crafting table
As a fan, I'm happy with the game, but a part of me wants more. I'm a little sad that it's ending, but that's normal; it happens with all the works we love.
the main dungeon of the biome would be the retirement homes, featuring a vast, sprawling complex that reaches to the sky. as big as a charred fortress while being as tall as the sealed tower. the retirees inside probably have seen better days, and appear to be in the process of zombification. maybe we should treat them better? anyway, they apply a poison when they hit the player in addition to the normal variants attacks. Nurses, an enemy exclusive to the dungeon, can heal and buff the zombified retirees similar to dverger support mages
I guess I am abnormal.
Because I have no sadness. I feel proud of the team and everything they have accomplished and I look forward to seeing the finished product.
Retirement homes only have a 10% chance of being a zombie retirement home, and all loot in the normal retirement home is doubled. Old teeth, medications, and hopes and dreams are the main resources exclusive to the retirement home. Zombified retirement homes also have a small chance to contain a Letter from a Grandchild. the letter of the grandchild is similar to the mysterious location vesvigirs in that it sends the player on a wild goose chase across the biome to find different cool structures
@sleek sky someone been dropping too much acid ...
☝️
i think its brilliant
brilliant ideas
❌
Ehh in a sick twisted mind perhaps
I'd be the weird one; I don't express myself well, I'm not used to happy endings.
time traveling vikings maybe? thats my best guess
after the hollow south could be the midpoint east and the sin curve west
so many options
Everything is finite. Better to focus on enjoying the time you have with things, knowing they will be gone eventually, than to feel negatively after said things are gone.
They really have to get the ending right though
If the ending is wrong, it's gonna leave a sour taste in the mouth
"Ascend to Valhalla" is pretty straightforward.
Well it's much more than just ascend to valhalla
Mmm, like these sour punch bites im eating
Sure.... Even though that is confirm to be the ending...
It's, is the final boss fight absolute peak, is the final biome the best they've ever done
it's like that meme with the horse and all the different seasons of a tv show
Deep North =/= Ending
Deep North == Biome
Ending == Ending
They promised at least 100 achieves so I'm excited
🤷♂️
True story
Yes, I know, but I don't know how to say it. It's not that I feel bad, it's just that I find it hard to find things I truly want, and once that connection with something fades, it's a strange feeling, like nostalgia and calm, and I don't know how to interpret or manage it.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
Really? I thought it might be something bad. I'll enjoy it a lot then once it's over.
Oh I was just Yoda-Jedi code replying 😄
xd it works for me
Fuling Shamans are just Yodas 😄
Seems the second boss is just a tiny bit harder than the first one. I've had to death run three times, and I'm just getting started.
Elder is just about timing your rolls.
Unless you're using a bow for some reason?
I need better stamina management.
Bronze Trinket 😉
Every time I want to dodge, I'm out of stamina.
What weapon are you using?
The one with the bear head? Yea, I'm gonna have to swap out.
Which one were you using?
L3 Bronze ax and shield.
Heart of the Forest, IIRC
Health Regen is the absolute worst stat in the game, just for your future notes.
I thought it might be. But I only just found a bear head.
If I leave the area, through a portal, will the mobs "suspend," or will they wreck my stuff?
+25% HRegen is going off your food bumps.
So even at max best possible food.. it's like +4 per tick in the Ashlands.
They will suspend when the area unloads, but they will start back up when the area is loading on your return. So they have the possibility of wrecking before you fully load in.
Good enough. Just so they don't get 20 minutes head start.
If memory serves, you get 4 swings per dodge cycle. And you just need to pause for stamina regen every 3? cycles (meaning dodge and just stand there instead of swinging and don't start swinging again until you have dodged 1 more time).
I'll have to try that. I've got the hang of bear cycles.
Pretty much every boss comes down to dodge/parry - swing a bunch - repeat until low - dodge/parry - stand there for 1 cycle to regen
I'll give that a try. Tommorow. Now I'm off to visit my spawn point.
Enjoy!
Appreciate the advice!
Tasty Mead is excellent for this reason, because it has no cooldown and you can pop it every single regen cycle to fully restore when you start having larger stamina bars.
I'll have to try that. I've made mead, but haven't really used any yet.
Tasty Mead will have you farming berries though if you use it to full potential 😭
Yea. Blueberries are not easy to get right now.
Pretty sure thats raspberries, but its not like I memorize this stuff.
it's both
OK.
You can just holster the cultivator at any time with R, problem solved. That also isn't a QoL, it's just something you realize and move along. They haven't necessarily left anything to be, the game isn't finished yet. You might leave that feedback in a more appropriate place if you're passionate that it's a big problem though. That's what early access is all about after all.
You can just holster the cultivator at any time with R, problem solved.
solved, yes.
in the same way I can just open up decades old text RPG and not need any graphics.
indeed, solid
You're making what point exactly?
Also, I am pretty certain you can pick things up while using the cultivator.
You may have toggled auto pickup to off by accident.
Well E doesn't work
Introducing different button would like... Incredibly bad decision
Huh, so you are saying that auto pick up will harvest vegetables, also probably collect honey, open up every chest that you walk too?
Great idea
why the fuck is it taking forever to push an update out
This is also just a great point, you cannot interact with anything while using a building tool. That's just universal. Not being able to pick things up is the last problem on that list, because you can just walk over things. 😅
They are pushing an update?
ice biome
Is not currently being pushed.
It is being developed.
same shit
Completely different shit.
They're just gettin it right, we're all excited for it but just gotta let them cook
Pushed means it is done and being sent out, just waiting for individual platforms/stores to verify and upload for availability.
Developed means it is being worked on and it is not completed yet.
Oh because an indie studio is fully releasing their game, and they're taking careful time with it using the limited resources they have. Your patience might adjust for that, as they're not some live service game that juices hundreds of developers at minimum wage.
Get wrekt by image perms 😄
dude roblox devs push out bigger games in under 6 months
Discount Minecraft devs do things faster than devs that care about quality of product? 👀 Who would have guessed.
doesn't roblox have more players than minecraft
Doesn't roblox have rampant grooming and discrimination problems?
this is implying that roblox games somehow don't have quality, but they're often have loads of depth to them
idk man i was just askin a question lol
heh, roblox has grooming therefore roblox = bad
What does that even mean? Roblox has very little in common with their development processes.
it means valheim devs are lazy
Well that's an easy block.
😂
Also, before fully releasing, valheim received large content updates on an average of 5 months.
yea dude i was so stoked when i got the scythe update
This is just one large 1.0 drop and they're taking their time.
after it took 5 months for that
Yeah, it's evolved into an absolute cesspool unfortunately.
that is unfortunate
You're just intentionally minimizing at this point, there's been far more than that added to the game.
hope they can fix that
that's not even a joke they actually add like 5 weapons and like maybe 2 new mechanics every now and then
And you're using new content being pushed out as a point against them?
Having policies and enforcing them I would have to guess 🤷♂️
It's sad because there are a lot of fledgling developers that would be able to have their original showing on the platform, but it's overshadowed by the ugliness.
There's no winning with you I suppose.
new content being pushed and it's like a miniscule amount of it versus the amount it took developing it
Https://tenor ahh
Anyways, glad I'm not entitled and walking around with blinders.
Trying to steer the conversation in a different direction, I really find the "smaller" updates to be REALLY impactful on how I play the game, Abom update changed the game, Frost cave update changed the game, Hildir not so much, Bog witch added new resources/playstyles with potions/feasts, and call to arms added new systems
Hildr changed it for me because I self-impose the rule of not being allowed to buy eggs.
im glad im not a dumbass idiot who can't see the devs being lazy
Yeah, why do you guys even interact with these complainers? Just let them cry into the silence. I'm surprised they haven't already called you all fan bois for defending IG. Oh, there it is...
sure for you if you're really into the game but for regular humans it's NOTHING
Forcing the Sealed Tower clear for access to chickens is a really good change for the game imo.
my human cant carry 600 different items game bad
not even true by the way
you just need to defeat yagluth
I mean, I mute once they show who they are 😄 Keeps it simple.
Perhaps 🤔 but Valheim is a game you can drop at any time but also return to at any time, I don't think it's designed to keep players playing throughout the entire year
see like this guy is bashing me but he doesn't even know game
They're talking about making that change a thing, not it already being a thing.
that's what i do, and then i come back and there's nothing
?
I blocked him. I have no interest in listening to/reading such crap.
Oh.. he can't read.
Because I clearly said I self-impose the rule.
And then he thinks I don't know you can buy them... when I specifically said I do not allow myself to buy them...
But basic reading comprehension is actually shown to be worse in Gen Z compared to every previous generation, so it isn't entirely their fault.
What other games do you play? I enjoy playing V rising, Enshrouded, Len's Island, Terraria when i'm not enjoyin Valheim
They're confused as to why you said that change would be good pertaining to eggs, just clearing it up for them.
i mean how do you know he's gen z?
🤷♂️ Most of them type a certain way. I could be wrong, but it is the impression got prior to muting.
he's trying to insult me
cause he doesn't have anything of value to say
I would hope they are pretty young to talk like that.
dude like literally everything
word
sandbox, rts, rpgs
yea, my valheim buds that play like once a yr just check up on the game like once every 3 months
see what's goin on read up on the news
then go back to doin whatever they're doin
yea dude same, and i can't keep people playing the game cause the game is literally the same
and it's a fun game, but i don't understand how it takes half a year to push out insignifact updates like these
Insignificant? Oh boy.
like seriously, it takes like what 2 hours to design and model the items, maybe like a few days to animate it
dude put into perspective, they are
I can't comment on the dev time stuff bcuz honestly I have no clue how it all works
People who have never made a game commenting on how long it takes to make games is always funny 😄
deving isn't hard, especially with a visually low poly game like valheim the only thing you really need to do is code
I do know that my various engineering projects take months and I'd imagine the design process is somewhat comparable
IDK tho
Yeah.. There's so much that goes into the back end. The workload is immense, for a team of 8 that is now coordinating with 2 console ports, it's true most people won't understand what is taking so long.
not really lol, it's way easier
dude fuck the consoles, just get the game up for pc
like you say this but the update is like they add a small arena for the meadows, like ADD MORE of that
IG keeps putting out quality game. Thats all that matters to me. At least they can't be added to the long list of overly buggy games released far too early.
Nah, I would like Iron Gate to have an easier marketing push so the studio can fund their next projects that much easier.
It's lacking foresight to say just put it out.
If there is any next projects 🤔
yea if valheim takes another 5 years there probably won't be none
if they finish it now
They do have next projects. One some devs are working on in their spare time.
they can refocus on the consoles later
Even if there isn't, I have been on teams that make pennies after a decade of work, that is always tragic for creatives.
yea but those aren't "irongate"
Dude I had to make a very basic casting animation with a projectile for a project and it took me 5 days to fix why the thing kept spawning facing the wrong way.
Like, correct location, correct stats on the projectile, flew in the proper direction after spawning -- all good, but the model was rotated weird and it took legit 50 hours of debugging until I finally janked it to work properly.
This is why you can never put exact timers on dev, because the smallest things can be ridiculous to fix without any rhyme or reason.
Dvoid has a game he wants to do next. He said that years ago.
this is true but they're not making pennies anymore, if nothing the more time it takes to flesh the game out the less money they have to fund it cause the hype isn't there anymore, idk what the sales are looking like right now obviously, but im guessing you have less new people coming in now than 5 years ago
yea but does that specifically just mean irongate
like it could be a solo project etc
Valheim -- Egyptian mythos edition 🙏
I would think it does, since he is the core founder of IG. Maybe 3 or 4 others would be, or are, considered co founders. I don't know how they set up IG.
yea see now this is actual stuff but the thing is once you flesh the projectile out you don't need to do it again, it's done, you can now make 50 different projectiles by tweaking and editing
Actually it's on the uptick! More constant players than ever before, and it spikes nicely on content drops. Steam alone sits at around 20-30k daily concurrent players, and if console is even half of that, those numbers are extremely good.
Have they ever published console player numbers?
If they put Valheim on EPIC I can go back to not having Steam installed 😭
I don't think console numbers are anywhere.
Aren't most game companies happy if they hit 15,000 per day?
Even 15k is great yeah.
yea i mean i have no clue im just SPECULATING, and the thing is also like most of these player numbers are recurring players, where sure it's good to have players but you're not really making money from them, since they already got the game, like myself
bbtw i just checked the charts and if steamdb is to be trusted they've kinda always had around 30-40k
Has Valheim sales broke 16 Million yet?
probably
Potentially, but if word of mouth is solid, that's enough to have constant draw in most cases. Any minimal marketing usually results in recurring players poking their heads back in, and sometimes life presents you with new people to introduce things to right. The market always fluctuates, but the numbers being consistent speaks a lot to Valheim's staying power, I would even assume that it will have another massive spike on full release.
Games often do spike when they leave Early Access. Most are like I used to be, and not even touch an EA game until its full release.
Too many failures.
i just hope they'd up and release the new biome yet, cause im guessing it's done already they just don't want to release it
hey, i spawned bonemass and realised that i was woefully unprepared, he broke my wood tower and i can't make a stone tower because HE'S STILL THERE,
bastard spawn killed me a bunch bcs I'd set my spawn on the wood tower and i was poisoned moments after spawning
I'm free now but i still can't make an improved tower
can someone please help me slaughter him?
It can only be speculated, but I would certainly rather it come out when it's ready, rather than pushed to appease some people, and fall flat on it's face because something minor was overlooked that breaks the game.
There is definitely a timeline for release though, hiring porting companies does speak to that, they aren't just going to operate indefinitely without a timeline.
i mean, pardon my asking, but if you're asking someone to help you out why don't you just use console commands, or are you asking that someone helps you legit out, but that'd take time to get the resources and stuff
also what weapons are you using
IG's small share of the profits won't pay their salaries forever.
i have an iron mace and maxed out iron armour
before i used a bow and fire arrows
(not the iron bow)
idk, i don't think there's any way that something can break the game now honestly, most of the mechanics are fleshed out already
also idk how to do console commands
you're decked out then, i'm assuming ur also using poison resist, you should be more than prepped to take him out
i mean he kills me pretty good before poisoning me
and the arrows barely tickle him
why can't you make an earthen ttower?
he's not despawning so I can't built safely
Yeah, he won't despawn.
put ur spawn like a bit further from him
and then just go in with poison resist + mace
you already have the gear and everything, if ur low you can climb on his skull spawn, he won't be able to damage you there
i needed help with something before and i believe it was this server where someone who was much stronger helped with what i needed,
i could give ya some stuff from my base to repay you but i don't know if you'd need any of it that badly
my mace is only level 1 tbh
I'd help, but it is late for me. You on Steam?
yeah
alternative solution can be to just kite him away from where you where/want to build again
bosses can walk quite far away without any trouble
If he has still lost his gear, he likely has to deal with plains mobs, with crappy gear.
Oh, its Bonemass. Sorry, like I said, its late for me.
lol ur good
the spawner is kinda close to a plains tbh
i mean i can hop on with my max gear but that would kill the fun of it
i mainly just want him gone,
I can't get around him easily as he seems to follow me back to the skull, not to mention the fact that every creature in the swamp seems to think I'm shrek now
Can you get up on the skull? He can't hurt you there. Just maybe get skellies and blobs up there.
well my arrows barely tickle him, so whilst I'd be safe from him, he'd basically be safe from me
Yeah, that is a problem. How close is your portal now, to Bonemass?
if you just want him gone and you don't care if a max gear person takes care of it, just remove him with console commands, it's faster
debug mode > k
OK, give me a few minutes, and as long as your OK with me being in Ashlands gear, we can become steam friends and I'll kill him for you.
that's okay,
I've looked around in the ashlands and there are some strong weirdos walking around there
I do have a recent character in plains gear I could use instead.
up to you
tbh i had forgotten about the need for antipoison when i first summoned him, so i am having to make up some of those
ill send u a friend request on my main discord account
We can talk via Discord too.
sent
@soft dock just my two cents here. For bonemass I use fire arrows(they don't do much damage but it helps when he has the poison gas around him to keep his health low), max out your mace and shield, you can also look into making the iron sledge to help deal with skeleton and Draugr mobs as an AOE weapon
Well, now I know, Frostner is better to use than Mistwalker against Bonmass. 😄 😄
How long before you get scythe? Or, somewhere between "man, that snapping tooltip is some garbage leftout" and "why does it take 5 years to make the game?"
You get the handle from the bog witch. Think its iron age.
She does not sell that
She does, you just need to defeat Moder to purchase it.
Ah, defeat Moder. Makes sense to me.
Rare instance when I would rate game's community less then the game itself, lmao
Well, the game is a pretty high standard, so....
You're just looking at the building menu's UI, not everything has a snap point, even in the hammer's build menu this is true. It doesn't take 5 years to make a game, it can take 5 years if you have a plan to launch something well crafted.
Pheh
Guess it would take a decade to make it pass QA
Ye,
Using spear in the mountains really sells that feeling of quality
Smooth combat experience
It must be thin air that gets you so high
That you ignore all those minute rough points
A decade? Did you not just say 5 years. 😛
u can ride mosquitos if u jump on them when theyre about to sting you 😭 💖
It's been done.
Not by me.
I love this game so much
i don’t doubt it
Blunt damage+frost+spirit damage = bad day for any undead creature lol
accidentally stumbled into the plains
Level 3 bronze armor thought I'd take on a mosquito
Run before the deathsquitos get you
That's a woopsie
🍌
yeah . . . So I uhhh found out what deathsquito is
A big woopsie
Thought for sure oh he's a puny lil guy let's see what this axe can do
Found out the same way most of us did lol
It looked so peaceful when I entered , the flowers were blooming and flowing in the wind and the sun was glaring in my eyes quite nice
never understimating a valheim creature again
Oh yea plains is for sure one of the most beautiful biomes in valheim but can also be one of the most dangerous even for someone geared for it let alone a bronze age viking
yeah my shield tried but the mosquito is just deadly.
You need max level silver armor to survive until you get the plains gear.

Well that's how meadows is supposed to be lol
true
Ashlands is best nothing more peaceful then all the skeletons and Morgan's chasing you they just wanna spoil you with gifts of weapons 😊
And the lava blobs just want hugs, the fallen valks just wanna show you their ballerina routine
Also, you can ride voltures endlessly into the sky and jump to wherever you like with the feather cape. 😅
yes i’ve been jumping down mountains with the cape
the slow fall is satisfying
Voltures are lowkey the best mount.
Absolutely thats why I love to build in the ashlands everything is just so peaceful and so kind sometimes the skeletons even guard your portals just to make sure you travel safely too

Let's not forget everyone's favorite lovable lava dog that just wants to play fetch and lay in your lap all day
those are kinda cute ngl
Makes me want a mod where you start as a charred and everything in Ashlands is neutral except dvergr. 😅
i still haven’t used mods yet my computer will def explode
I'm holding off until well beyond full release, just so I can provide accurate feedback.
You're not wrong especially the new borns when taking them. They look like little green skin pugs lol
Vanilla is lovely anyways.
Been playing since day 1 release haven't used a single mod. Not counting the new settings options for passive enemies and no cost building
they look like fetuses
Well....yea alright kinda do
😭
Still kinda cute though
true
They're just lil guys 🥹
it's not done. why would we sit on it ? for fun? 🤔
there a few ways for a model to be made.
- someone thinks for a item we could have. or some cool funky shit that's fun. or a thematical creature in a place in the game.
- then the game designer(s) discuss what it could be, how it could fit into the game loop and how.
- then they come up with a plan and tell the general artist to make a few scetches of how X could look like.
- the general artist then creates a few scetches from reference material, or their own dark thoughts. it's up to them
- then the designer(s) look at the scetches and see if some of them is what they are looking for. to big? to small? wrong color palette? etc etc
- then they decide if it will work out or not.
- then the model maker gets into talks with the general artist and they talk over finer details
- then the model maker makes the creature.
- prefab is also made.
- then they show the general artist and designer(s) the first draft.
- adjustments, adjustments, 2nd draft, 3rd draft etc.
- then the animator (person who does rigging the creatures skeleton starts to work)
- designers talk with animator about attacks, how the rig (skeleton of the model) should work
- then either designer(s) or QA tests the creature. is it to fast, does it break, seams showing? etc etc
- then loot is added, tables created, additional loot?
- loot is created by the same steps basicly. Example "oh, a wolf needs to drop teeth, wolf pelt, wolf meat etc)
- so general artist, designer (if needed) makes the scetches for drops
- general artist and model maker sits down, talk about how the loot should look like
- model maker makes prefab
- model maker makes model
- programmer does magic and make sure items spawn when creature dies. and other magic stuff.
- QA tests
- something
- something
- something
- something
- Creature X is done
something along these points 🤔
bigger creatures / bosses etc takes longer time, than for example the bat
so you don't chug it out too fast, too quickly, send everything all at once and you loose the hype, the playerbase etc, would be my guess
this literally does not need so many steps, the weapons and stuff you guys make are so simple, just make more of them, that's literally all i want
the faster we can get it out to the players. the faster we can sit back and enjoy millions of players just enjoying our game and we are alot more stress free
uhhh i mean whatever, it's at least cool you'd even take time to talk to me
back in 2021, we didn't even have a QA or a CM department. so when things got into the millions of players, 1000's of bug reports poured in
that's more than most would do, after i was rude, so whatever
game development had to slow down. since we couldn't reach our playerbase anymore. and talk to them directly anymore
and you can only make a 1.0 launch, once
so you don't want to do what some other rushed games do and just crash, fail, bugged out the first months after release
like Cyberpunk 2077
lol true i guess, but still you're gonna have bugs be most apparent when people test the game's limits in real time, but hey. your game i guess, just please have it be this year.
valheim devs if you can hear me please give me the ice biome, valheim devs if you can hear me
<-- valheim developer
getting the worst bugs out tho is really good. hence we have the discord "only" public-tests
so those on discord, which we can talk directly can give feedback, report bugs and issues to us.
instead of just have no real good way to give feedback or submit bug reports to us so we can fix the issues
And honestly. people who just "where is deep north, I want it now"
if you read between the lines. They don't have us developers, they love our game and want to play the living daylight out of it. so it's not all bad
take your time and leave it in the oven until it cooks. Don't want to rush it or it won't taste right 😁
yeah. a good 1.0 release with Deep north will feel good
a bad rushed one would leave millions of people with a sour taste in the mouth.
don't really want the 2nd one 😄
i personally have 600 hours so
yeah and you dont really want to have your next update be basically fixing everything that was rushed plus bugs🐛 (if they happen)
i mean i enjoyed the ashlands i think people were just coping a bit too much, even with the older spawn rates it was still fun and enjoyable to play around, it was cool to have a slow burning siege element to it
the only thing i didn't like is the no real way to deal with the mists post mistlands, the torches don't do a really good job at deferring the fog, the game is good, it just needs more stuff to choose from, and i mean i get the part of the appeal is not having 500 choices, but at least like more rng structures, more dungeons, stuff to explore yk
anyways thanks for chatting its cool to learn what goes on to making a mob in game. I'm not a game developer but i work with code and computers a bit so i know it takes a ton of time to make sure it is refined before it get sent out.
So you're telling me, there is a chance.... To have it done by lunch tomorrow. (corpo -boss speak)
well. the mist in mistlands seems to be a common missconseption 🤔
the mist isn't there because of the queen
she and her friends found the place and started to live there 😄
no
No no, I get that, what I meant was, I wish there was a way to more efficiently deal with it after you complete the initial challenge, like using the carapace to build a supertorch that clears a larger area from mist, so you could make mistlands less misty in certain areas
cause right now, i have a bunch of whips torches and they're just not that good at clearing mist, even when i place down swats of them
problem is the "weight" on the hardware. the more mist you push around, the more lifting your hardware have to do
the mist are magic clouds ☁🔮☁
(maybe)
Since there are yggdrasil shoots and magical roots there too, and they most likely came from/fell from the big tree in the sky, it wouldn't be strange if the mist was like a type of magical cloud that came with the trees from the skies. 🌳☁🔮
Oh wow the devs talk here 😂
If you at some point run mods, there are mods for that.
finally landed in the swamps🥳 with a meadows right next to it! portal time
HOLY why is 1 star drauger archer so strong
Semi similar 🤔
Was about to save the game and logout when... You Get the Chills 🤦♀️
Well, time to deal with that guy, me i had the mage riding the berserker
They Were Bros Man
haven't killed that one yet. Only The mountain mini boss, and today I killed the black forest mini boss.
Im guessing when you are facing the mini boss in the howling caverns, the only thing you have to look out is its freeze ray
Yeah, the howling cavern was ok 🤔 I remember I thought it was difficult when I tried it for the first time. But in this playthrough it was like normal difficulty.
The raid tho 🤦♀️ 😂😅 the raid is something else.
So many 1 star Fenrings. And the boss is tanky. I can't even kill them all yet. They just dispawn because the raid ends by itself.
Simular to?
Yeah the raid is the worst part, like idk 1 star fenrings hit like a truck if you are not careful and add that with the boss like you said, becomes more annoying
thankfully there's a lot of wild life around my base, so some of them get distracted killing deer and neck etc. 😅
But even one or two fenrings are enough to almost kill me. 🤦♀️
Fenrings are not that hard to kill though, but their sound effect with the howl is scary lol
The howl is something else
Fenrings when alone they are easy to kill, but when in groups of 2-3 and all of them are 1 star, that is another story
Engineering design process
ah right
sry this was i thought you replied too lol mb
should've gave more context
all jumping on us, literally 🤦♀️
Honestly raiding a fortress then a thunderstorm happens, how can i see now 😂
The best Ashlands weather 👌
I remember leaving a putrid hole after clearing it, and needing to go back to my portal, and a storm outside had just started.
The trolls are such a great distraction for running
I summoned like two and im like, "ok you guys deal with these two and im just gonna go this way"
I just read there is a maximum fire rate for bows. At lvl 100 I seemed to be "missing" a lot of shots (you draw back and release and nothing). Would this be a feature? I keep wanting to say i think being in the 80s felt the best. Just want to know if im missing something
I think around lvl 80 it caps yeah. At least for repeat shots. The animation is not fast enough to keep up with doing back-to-back shots after lvl 80ish so it caps the fire rate
I wonder if it would be a good suggestion to have the animation scale with the level at the point. Thanks for reply
I feel this so hard. The dopamine rush I get when I time my shots just right is amazing.
semi-auto spinesnap.
Helloooooooooooo
Please strike me down if this is the wrong channel but honestly, I still love this game and I'm just looking for people to play with on an active server
check out #1024264966712340510
I'd say just nerf the fire rate buff the skill gives, among other things.
Bow skill is currently ridiculously OP, doing something like hextuple the DPS at max level, wheras most other weapon skills is like a little over double damage at lvl 100
Good tip, thank you, will do!
coupled with frost arrows you can effectively immobilize anything.
Very good idea and I agree. I acquired 20 black cores in one run using a finewood bow root harnesk and the rest troll lvl 4
They are even slower when theyre dead I use needle
true, but you're going to be a bit head-on with a seeker soldier.
I literally save up my frost arrows just for ML
Wood arrows to the butt
Maybe I just have to use them more to see it. Im not amazing or anything but ratatosk and lightfoot make me feel like I am sometimes XD
Should I swap to the spinesnap over the crossbow?
I skip bows entirely
It is purely preference.
What's the Black forest mini boss? Isn't there just the Elder?
Elder and Bruma or whatever the flaming skeleton lady is called.
||Brenna||
^ That.
Huh!? :OOOOOO Is she just in burial chambers? I've spent many hours in the black forest. I can't remember if I've ever seen her. I didn't know there were minibosses :O
There are 3 special burial chamber-looking dungeons that she spawns in 🙂
Oh I see I have to use Hidlir. Well, a fun adventure awaits me later 🤣
I love her trophy.
It goes hard for sure
You love Hildr's trophy?
You killed the merchant?
YOU MONSTER!!

You can kill the merchants?
Wait can you…?😭
Nope.
the broom is the closest you can get
ooh, that reminds me I need a broom for my new house.
is the drakkar faster than a longship?
Maybe in the straight away, but it turns much slower.
I've slept on the tonic of ratatosk, but now I use it all the time. It's so great
I hate that they all have different centerpoints
anyone know why i have pufferfish offshore at my meadow base? there are no plains for miles
Pufferfish can be found in mistlands and in the ocean biome. likely they just came in from the ocean.
don't know when that happened, but I collected well over a stack of bear skin. Made some max level bear armor and paws but I don't think I'll be using them
I guess it's gonna be good back up armor
Other armor later will require bear hide.
ah that one
Doubt I will try making a vile set cause I am not into that too much
the padded armour looks too cool
Ah, forgot you were already on that state.
Ts carried me till i made an iron mace for swamp
Im skipping skilver armor and padded armor, jus gonna wait to upgrade till i get to mistlands
I only have 100h in the game. So I still enjoy the grind and dont really want to skip stuff even if I dont need it
how do you spawn items?
I just sailed through fire and brimstone..... forgot sutr cores.. not going back
tamed a wolf but died to troll raids
no way
they see each other through the stake walls
😂
Thats why I put my breeders inside fully enclosed buildings well away from my walls.
That, and bats.
was debating on making a doghouse but didnt want to treat fido like my boars
i was like yeah he should be chill to just roam in my base like a patrol dog
I have wolves doing that too. Just I also have dedicated breeders, that I keep safe from all threats. Well, as safe as I know how to make them. Usually 5 pairs. I also don't want to have to go back into the mountains to tame a pair again.
Tamed wolves are easy to feed. Just take them out hunting and let them kill, hehe.
Feed them sausages! 0.25 meat per feeds!
Do they eat seeker meat? 🤔
Just tried, he walked away disgusted
😭
i'm not a tame person but iirc wolves don't eat any of the new meats
Smiffe should fix that
Did someone mention the other day that they eat chicken meat? I actually don’t know lol
Never actually thought about trying to feed my wolves chicken… lol
I think Scales is right and they don't eat anything from serpent onwards.
Last night, The Elder curb-stomped me three times, and I only got him to half health.
Lrn 2 rul
raw neck tail (
), raw boar meat, raw deer meat, raw lox meat, sausages, raw chicken, raw fish meat
Today, I found a spot where I could shoot fire arrows at him, but he couldn't hit me with his black vines attack.
As an added bonus, he knocked over a lot of lumber.
Oh wow fish, huh didn’t know that either
So fish but only after prep table?
yes, not alive fish
👍
I think they also eat fish btw 👀 fish is too precious for my fish tacos tho 😅
Yeah, other people mentioned the fish too... I just noticed now 😴
Give a wolf a fish, he eats for a day.
Teach a wolf to fish, he eats nothing because he can’t fish.
Teach a fish to wolf, and you’ve done the impossible.
They do.
Only chicken out of newly added meats since Mistlands, so they don't eat seeker, volture, bonemaw, asksvin and bear meat.
Make sense if you look at the size but I could see a wolf eating a whole turkey
can scales go on item stands yet?
@shy marlin can we put you on item stands? 😁
Im not gonna ask so simply asking for a friend purely out of curiosity, my friend is very curious; how are that suppose to happen? 🤭 <- that would be my curious friend giggling.
Sup all you sexy ppl
Just started the swamp, I will say its very tough but SUPER worth the effort
like one crypt and ur good, just getting there is scary
have devs ever talked about updates or anything about being able to craft stuff from nearby chests instead of needing to grab everything individually?
That sounds squarely in the realm of "mods only" features.
are they not open to stuff like that?
will we ever be able to plant mushrooms or berries?
That is also going to be mods only. Because you're supposed to have reasons to go to previous biomes.
You can place mushrooms via the serving tray, just so you know 🙂
Obviously can’t farm them, but they’re decorative
yeah im just talking about farming
Ah, fair enough!
Should I storm fortresses for gems or go after the secret sword quest first?
Storm fortress'.
you'll need a gem for the secret sword anyways
we are progressing into the plains biome do i make a silver sword or still rock with the iron mace
(i love the mace)
and also what anklet casue im still on the bronze pendant
I like spear. Maybe an atgeir to survive you are being hunted and fuling onslaught
fang spear?
honestly everything is good enough in the plains, i'd recommend having a silver tier weapon or iron atgeir though just to make things easier for ya
bronze pendant still good, if you desire some more defensive options lots of people love the iron brooch
i used bronze atgeir so might go with the silver sword instead
i dont like shield imo i find i just cant parry with it
Sounds more like "modern QoL" to me
Why are we supposed to have reasons to go to previous bioms?
Sounds like a chore, especially without portals
A chore? In a game founded on chores?
No... how can this be?
Come on, going into a dungeon isn't a chore ... Most of the time
It's not the "harvester, call of the mushrooms" game
what should i make with jade?
No, but it is the "Tedium, Call of the Grind" game 😁
Green is for bows.
Looking for mushrooms is the last I want to do.
Rooting people at range keeps them at range so you can shoot them more.
this game might not be your cup of tea
what gem goes well with slayer?
really anything but the red gem
red gems are niche and require very specific set ups to be marginally better
blue for nidhogg?
Bluuuuu
Red needs to be changed to increased adrenaline.
Bro? Going back to eaiser biomes you've conquered is the best part 🤣 Why would you want to ditch them? I enjoy that there are always reasons you have to go back. Tbf, I wish there were more reasons to go back.....I hate progressing fast enough that there's no point in building small bases in every biome which I would love to do 😂
Man I did collect about 6 stacks worth of red shrooms
And then I was like "man, this is waste of time, I will get the mod that lets me plant them in the yard, so when I need more I can get them".
Cause there's discovery there's training, there's boredom kinds of grind. And there's wasted time kind.
Greylings got annoying on 5th hours in meadows. Greydwarfes need to find a hobby. Thankfully no annoyting creatures in swamps, leeches are great. Drakes are absolute plague and I would rather skip mining that silver node entirely then spend 2 arrows on another one. Bats simply don't need to exist.
preach brother
why did you need more than 6 stacks?
Also I noticed by accident that if you like mine just like a couple strikes in the meadows mushrooms might start growing there? I unearthed a little around one of the buried treasure chests and now 2 mushrooms grow there 😂
Damn, this is the problem with mods sometimes, there's a solution to this in-game, but mods cut out the challenge of figuring it out for yourself. Did you ever attempt portal chain farming?
Here's a good reason to go to early biom - a quest from trader.
Though smoldering tomb was so small i think brenna must have really fat bone.
I do need to do Brenna I just learned about her existence today lol
Dunno
Cooking
But I would rather spend my 10 stacks of yellow mushrooms then go hunt for red ones.
vegetation > low
I would like to do Howling Caverns but it would unlock a raid. See three of us are already doing a lot of stuff in the Mistlands, but we can't defeat Yagluth or the cavern/searing towers bc the other members in our world aren't up there yet
mushrooms become way more visible
raid is only unlocked once you actually return the chest to hildir
idk if you would want to do that or not
Sounds like a way to 1 cheat 2 make game ugly 3 like if you need to do something like that it says that game devs didn't think hard enough on the mechanic
Hmmm so you mean if we clear the cavern, defeat the boss, and leave Hildir hanging, it won't unlock??
yup
Good thing you don't need to do that.
not really cheating since you're not changing a fundamental part of the game, you're just making mushrooms more visible, since they easily get lost in tall grass
For real
There was one small room with stone and ruby in the center
And like columns hall
And that's it
Almost the smallest one ever.
The only smaller one i see was 1 doorway immediately blocked, and the other two looping into each other i. Shortest possible way.
Man sometimes generation is not handled
That's awesome though, no messing about, straight to business.
And the cultist boss was just standing in the cave for me.
Figuring out that he can't reach you with aoe attack when you are on that entrance platform... That fight was really meh. Need to find another one.
I had one where Brenna was 2 floors down in a massive labyrinth.
does Hildir's table give you the smouldering tomb locations?
Yeah
nice
So you didn't like that the miniboss was in a cave, and that you decided to cheese it?
And not just one location.
But i think they only generate outside of what you explored?
Whelp, exploring I go 😂 I have explored tons of black forests nearby
they should be fixed in place, you can find them without having the quest, although it's less likely
bro i cant wait to start fresh again i beat the game first go blind in 56 hours cant wait for the second run now that i know stuff
did you do the 56 with ashlands, or before?
with ashlands
and playing 4k on the 9070xt is peak
bro when where bears added this mf just came in an destroyed my whole base i havent even fought the big deer yet
it lives in the black forrest tho
it was added august 2025
You can kill bears quite easily early game and of you get a trophy early it makes for a decent gear set
The ||frost staff|| is like a machine gun, pew pew pew pew pew
Top tip:
they don’t like ||🔥||
3rd best magic weapon imo
Been busy with college so im laying dormant for a bit lol
One question: what is the largest type of fish, the one that is size 5?
If im not mistaken its probably between coral cod or pike
If its even possible to encounter a level5 fish
I had it on max upgrade and it does more damage
also what does the Dundr staff does?
I found a level 5 pike and was surprised by its size, wondering if there were bigger ones or if I just got lucky.
We finally beated Yagluth, but it wasn't easy. He broke our portal. we both died again once the fire potion ended and we were both meleeing it lmao
went back with a smaller boat and destroyed it finally.
(now we got beautiful little wispy)
👽
mistlands await u!
yes my friend never saw the mistland
i went a few times before , i just had skipped the 5th boss has my friend back then killed it without me
ONE does not just walk into mistlands! 👀
It’s possible. Example here #screenshots message
Traverse carefully in the mistlands, viking 🫡
It is. I have a size 5 pike over my bed in my current play through.
i remember early Ashlands , i faced a spawner that basically just spawned 2star enemies. had like 5+ 2 stars after me
🤔 still exists, just come across one of the fire sword locations
also reminder that the torch has more fire damage than an endgame fire sword
be aware of Lord Reto 😁
Oh so they are a thing. Just by that location
I found an easy way to kill him tbh.
Flametal mace heavy attack over and over. He gets pushed back each time
any jade weapon makes it a free fight
i feel personally attacked 😄
😂
i will ask for a tweak 😛

double feints and unrollable damage
Lord Reto will shine again 😎
I counter with Evasion mantle, HHH foods and carapace buckler.
I counter with staff of wilds gg
damn, i feel outdated 🙁 i want some new tricks aswell
I counter with god mode.
Kidding😭🤣
Blasphemy!!!! 😱
should i upgrade troll set to full 4 before swamp? and bronze axe/buckler full?
