Skills depend on the longevity of the run and how often you die
Anyone willing to trade me some Fuling Totems?
They're not useless, they're nice additional bonus.
Gameplay doesn't generally rely on skill points but they help with lowering stamina usage for actions and increasing damage with weapons you like to use.
People try to keep them at numbers?
Is fenris + root harnesk better than full fenris when using fist weapons?
Full fenris grants +15 to fists skill.
Depends if you need the defensive capabilities of the root harnesk or not
I probably do lol. What type of damage do Fulings do mainly?
I’ve got a blackmetal atgeir as well, so if I’m running that I’ll definitely put on the harnesk
Spear guys do pierce, club guys do blunt, torch guys do blunt/fire, knife guys do slash i think
honestly i'd wear the root harnesk, it nullifies deathsquito and spear guys, and you just have to really watch out for torch guys and make sure to snipe the fuling shamans
Thanks, sounds good to me
Any tips on how to tame lox? They seem more interested in destroying all of my stuff than eating cloudberries, even when I run away
Pit or earth walls.
I haven't played for a while now and i'm getting back into it now. Did they nerf pit mining or whatever the term was called? I triple checked to make sure the copper vein isn't touching anything else, which it isn't. But its not collapsing and just floating there still.
Their exploding has always been a bit random. When they don't I work my way up until they do.
Ive had it where it s not connected to anything and not exploding too. Just trial and error towards the edges til it does
I must have been lucky in the past because I dont remember it doing that.
They are more consistent with less water around, but even dry I can have issues.
how do I get them into said pit
Before I dig it.
Harpoon can help. Or making platform where they can walk on and deconstruct the platform when they're on it.
Just put them in your dig area, then dig.
I put up my 8 meter walls first, with roofing so not much to worry about with pvp off. So just dig last.
You may want to leave a way to get out.
im in the swamp age now whats the best armour im making the root armour is that the only armour set or is there better
there's iron armor, both are good
root chest is very valuable, if you crave more defense go for iron armor + root chest, if you like being an archer that kinda thing root is nice
right okay didnt even know there was iron havnt found any yet lol
yeah i like archer but also the Bronze atgeir is so good aswell
word
is there any need to farm copper still being in the swamp
Copper might be needed later on, during 6th biome.
But depends if you want to upgrade your current bronze gear.
i played through bronze age with bronze helmet and the troll chest and legs so just been chilling with that set
It's quite solid set.
Bronze buckler is also big up for defence if you don't have it.
yeah i dont have any accessories didnt know how it worked im a loot hoarder so always back and forth with loot lmao
Single largest defensive upgrade in the game* 😛
Almost same thing.
Since it sounds like your first time. Root is probably your best choice.
yh me and a mate brought valheim the other day
i have the root helmet and full troll cape chest and legs
looks nice together lol
Poison res on helmet is surely nice, since you don't necessarily need the poison res mead.
Full set grants you bow skill levels which reduces the drawing time.
I’m getting ready for the moder fight. I play solo and this is my first playthrough. I have fully upgraded wolf armor, iron helm, silver shield, silver sword, and draugr fang (all fully upgraded) and planning to craft 300 poison arrows. Is this sufficient for Moder?
Sounds more than enough, honestly. Remember best foods and you're good to go.
has there been any QoL updates like crafting without neeing the items in your inventory?
Are obsidian arrows better for this application?
yea
Poison is okay but loses effectiveness in a long run.
No, there is not such feature added.
Ok. Thanks. I was thinking that the poison damage from the arrows and bow would outweigh the damage from obsidian arrows. But if that’s not the case then I’ll do obsidian
do i need to craft heart of the forest and bronze pendant
Poison doesn’t stack like fire and spirit so you lose damage hitting an already poisoned enemy
They're not necessary, but bronze pendant is very good option for long time.
thank you how do i find out the seed of my world
On world selection menu it should show it next to the world name.
have they removed all the ways to cheese bosses? killing the mass from a tree, modor in a trench, etc?
no
Yup, that's what I meant
That's also what I'm wondering
Farming crafting and cooking are essential to maximise gambling
All the others are just keeping you alive I guess
Don’t aim for skills, let them increase naturally as you progress
I didn't plan to. I was just wondering.
Like is 20 good? Is 60 enough? Is it not worth tracking at all?
It depends on the skill, some level faster than others
Worth is subjective.
For example by plains 40 dodging is very high but low for run and jump
Yeah, that's why I was asking yall
i'm convinced dodge is one of the hardest skills to lvl up
Well, in my newest run my axe skill is already on lvl 70 due to finding axe heads early for new dual axe weapon and testing them quite a bit, currently having some iron weapons and fenris armor.
It would need to be rebalanced if it’s faster, even at skill 0 rolling feels so cheap now
for sure
Maybe the skill could determine the stamina return like 20->60% (???) instead of changing the base cost
No idea if those would be good numbers they’re just an example
No, it’s just part of dodging now
😭
im eating honey deer meat and boar meat is that good for where i am or should i change it up
No perfect jumps yet
for bronze/swamp age? you can find some better foods.
Do you have cauldron?
im about to make the cauldron
I would recommend that.
you should get carrots if you haven’t already
New world opens for you.
don’t make minced meat sauce

i was lit about to say should i make minced meat sauce haha
carrot soup, deer stew and queens jam ?
good combo
pretty much you want a balanced diet of some sort
could be 2 health food 1 stam or 2 stam 1 health
Use bear meat instead of minced meat unless you value 1hp/tick over a necks life
i mainly use bow so was thinking 2 stam 1 health
Good option for atgeir too.
hi
I'm now getting used to the plains biome but still mobs there still hits like a truck
also, hello 🙂
what gear and food you using?
Hey guys if you'd be in mistlands stage of the game, where would you be setting your main base? I thought of a plains, black forest or maybe one bigger spot of mistless mistlands but i don't really know what is best
I usually do a plains base not far from ML
I'm currently rocking on the root harnesk, fenris leggings, and padded helmet
For food im on bread, blood pudding, hearty mountain logger stew
doesn't much matter if you have portals on, personally i hate being too close to overlapping biomes cuz then it's "GAH-gah-gah-gah! rrRRRRrrr! WHACK! brbrbrbrb BAM" constantly
is there any way to build with the stuff in the Fuling villages?
like, are those unlockable buildings
dang :(
irk? would be awesome
I would settle on the dveger's tower and just improve it from there
sounds pretty solid. Fuling camp pulls of more than 5 or so are always goign to be a challenge. Do you know about using the Huntsmans bow to stealth snipe them down?
Yep very helpful bow on pulling them out 1 by 1
Huntsman's Bow ftw
Honestly Plains are when I've actually started to enjoy archery in this game
use for it, sightlines for it, easy-to-make arrows
Honestly I'd suggest going two health foods 1 stam since everything in plains hits so hard.
I'm running with huntsman and draugrs fang
What's nice about the Fang is the inherent poison makes it easy to keep an eye on Gjalls
Yeah true, especially against fuling berserkers
I always play with fully upgraded armor of the current biome and it works out for me
is the archery target actually worth it for levelling up archery?
I heard that is not
kinda figured lol
is grinding on a dummy instead of playing the game worth it is the better question
depends on how fast it would improve things?
the target and the dummy are nice for dorking around in base while waiting for other players
or if you want to charge up a trinket before getting into a big fight
oh true, my cousin with whom I occasionally play takes forever to prepare
True, but you will spend on metals crafting it and upgrading it, unlike root harnesk and fenris leggings you just have to kill mobs to get their materials, plus root harnesk has resistance against pierce attacks, helpful against deathsquitos and fulings
Yeah, i just play very slowely so it always ends up upgrading everything i got to the max
I've always felt like upgrading is basically like a built in difficulty slider.
Meaning it slides difficulty down when you upgrade?
Because iirc Smiffe confirmed the game is designed around you just having rank 1 of everything as you progress.
I wondered: how can I play such a stressful game?
I went to a psychologist and discovered I'm a masochist.
😄
They say that one trait that you have to have to be special forces IRL is you just straight up enjoy it when things go to shit.
where do you find carrots
seeds in Black Forest
cheers
well, i am now a navy seals
They would if they had good taste in survival games.
you're right
I've got enough bronze to make one tool. Ax, Spear, or pick. Any suggestions where I should go first?
In fact, I need one more bronze to get the pick. Blast.
Cultivator or axe would be better for first IMO.
I'm not even ready to start with the cultivator. I've barely got the hang of leveling out the ground.
It's not that hard. Just can't plant stuff any closer than about a half meter from themselves
im trying to break a copper vein but i just cant dig under it wont work
yeah me and my mate just found like a massive ball but takes so long
Sometimes its like that, im guessing there is probadly a stone connected to the ground
Planting seeds don't require leveled terrain, just cultivated soil.
Well, cultivating can be done with cultivator.
Does root size matter in terms of sap capacity
Nope
Nope, size doesn’t matter… ||here||
but sometimes what looks like one root can actually be multiple
I recommend just 1 extractor per root, unless you want some urgently, if you don't visit too often it will always be full when you come past (I usually make a wooden walkway between 3 or 4 collectors and visits every now and then to collect, lined by whisplights unless I get super lucky and find them in a mistfree area./
yeah they are actually not much different in size, but sometimes 2 or 3 can clip into each other
I always love it when I can find 4 pretty close to each other and I can just swap 2 exctractors back and forth between them
Anyone able to help rq?
2x resources and I still feel like I'm always running out of iron
Oh, that's because you are. 🙂
blackmetal is so plentiful and I feel I have no use for it all, iron on the other hand...
I don't mind that aspect, less leaning on iron for storage.
practically the only reason I'm running the 2x is for iron and stone and yet here we are
not too big of a deal
one big haul and I will be set (lie)
Yeah, sunken crypts can be pretty breezy once you don't have to worry about 2 stars at all.
got nuked by a single 2 star spear fuling earlier
we just seen odin is that rare ?
just staring at us in the black forest never seen that before
lool
Probably my favourite thing in the whole game
Can't really call ourselves vikings without Odin's presence lurking in the shadows 😶🌫️
all the little lore bits are amazing
I like seeing Thor fly by but he is much easier to miss
A few questions
How quickly can you get something to teleport with metal?
Why are serpents so hard to find?
Theoretically 2 hours
theoretically if you are a BEAST
- Pretty slowly unless you enjoy speedrunning.
- Because you're looking for them. Things tend to show up when you least want them to
Why do Necks and Greydwarves hate my Karves and home so much?
Which biome?
I've yet to see him I think
Ashlands
Ashlands (7th biome)
Oof... I'm at the end of the 4th
They exist to cause you annoyance so you get lulled into a red blood rage and kill them all
I think he is only after defeating Moder? so he shows up much later than you could see Odin
it runs in their freakish little blood
or mud in the case of greydwarves
Idk but I've already defeated Yagluth
Alternatively, there is an option that unlocks in meadows for teleporting metals
It's called going into settings and changing it so the game allows you to teleport metals at all times
They just keep coming back and now my bronze nails are at the bottom of a slightly shallow, but still unreachable river
Go up high on some stairs, then jump into the water to get the nails. It'll make you dip down far enough to pick them up
I did see some lightning in the dark ocean horizon while sailing. It seemed to be going upwards from the sea...
could have been him
I can just make more. Moreso ticked off that it happened
the first time I saw thor I was sailing with a friend and they missed him
Anyways, chat
Workbenches, as far as the eye can see. No more little freaks.
I need someone to hunt some serpents for me. Bonus if you get the scales and trophy too
Alternatively, trading those things outright works too
Serpent drops actually so goated
Only thing I don't care about much is the shield, but honestly I might start using it
I just need them, but can't find them
If someone could hop onto my world for that
Maybe also help me speed up killing Moder
Probably just bad luck, but are you looking either at night or during storms, and in wide open ocean not near land?
Yep. Still nothing
it be like that
tbf though they kinda break balance early so I suppose it's good they can be semi-rare
Either way, let me just take a quick shower and we can discuss what to do on my world
I enjoy the two types of enemies in this game
big screw off monster and miniature being made entirely of evil hatred and malice
I hate viles, the moment i turn my camera to one direction the vile is there
Vile is like now you dont, now you see me
I got vile trophy first try
hope that helps
I will gladly take one off your hands
going on two in game weeks of nighttime plains jogging
far too many two star fulings
I just got the trophy after 3 viles
Sorry cant give, i want that bone set in my base 🙂
the grind remains relentless
The fact that viles are rare and you have like 9mins to find them and kill them before they despawn at sunrise
Seriously, I built a sundial for the first time in over 1200 hours because of the Vile set. 😅
Time to prepare for my big fight against yagluth
hmu when you got a spare trophy I am dying out here🙏
Traps any good for hares? 🐇
Anyone able to help?
Sure
Perfect timing. How far are you into the game?
Mistlands
Just my eitr refiner and all that 🎉 🧙♂️
Basically, need someone to help kill Moder
Then bring a Karve to kill a serpent
I need help finding one to kill and get the scales and trophy
Sure thing 👍
You don't mind if I come with my strongest gear?
Bring anything you want, as long as we get it done
Cool
DM me the code and password
Wish ektoplasm had more uses
Fr, where's the jello food using it?
How do I prepare for the sealed tower? Looks like a lot of building to get to the top.
are you guys using any hd mods or is the vanilla graphics preferred?
personally I love the base graphics.
wait what? Do flamemetal pillars no longer sink?
They do but the chance to sink per hit was reduced
1% chance to be precise.
ohhhh. Thank you! First 10 hits didnt make it sink, is why. Oh so I can actually be really grateful for elder rework. Do morgen hits trigger sinking progress as well?
Have you tried looking in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 yet?
for me:
6 slots for equipment
3 food
3 pots
so half of my inventory is filled right there, and thats without portal mats. it gets worst in ashlands because of the massive loot in that biome + you are usually carrying stone portal mats when roaming
im guessing they will implement a separate tab for equipment and a craftable backpack
no need to carry a stone portal since you can bring the mats for one through a normal portal if necessary
i also don't usually bring food since i can just pop back to base to eat if necessary
Feels like it's asking for trouble and lowers the time you can explore. It limits you to 15 minutes pretty much because at that point your food gets less effective. And if you need to spend more time than you wanted like 20 minutes or more your food will become very ineffective as you become unrested which can be really bad
you can slap down a portal basically anywhere if you're not currently in active combat. Pop through, eat, drop off loot, refresh your rested buff, return, pack up your portal and continue.
Or go to sleep if you don't want to be out at night.
carrying food and mats for a campfire is completely unnecessary when you're bringing portal mats anyway
There's the if
if you can't find a break in the 10 minutes between your food reaching half duration and running out carrying extra food won't save you
Sounds like a self-defeating mindset
i've simply never had a problem putting down a portal
also what does carrying the extra food do for you? It doesn't refresh your rested buff and now it's getting towards nighttime. Do you slap down a campfire and sit down? Or go back to base to refresh it anyway?
Big fan of pocket portals too but there's instance where I will just explore around a portal or raid a fortress from a portal or look for ressources around a portal. I don't have it on me 100 percent of the time and don't play with portals a lot of the time to be honest
well no portals is an entirely different game lol
My point was for portals, one of the reason is I want my food to be fresh the moment I enter a dangerous situation
you can't refresh it before the halfway mark anyway
but it still lose effectiveness until it reach halfway mark
well yeah, but carrying extra food doesn't change that
It absolutely does
unless you're constantly chugging down bukeberries
personally i just eat in the morning before leaving and then return when night falls to either eat and refresh rested buff or go to sleep
Since I just ate my food much closer to the point where I need it the most, it is more effective and since I always have the ability to replenish it the moment I can. It's effectiveness will always be much higher
Food is something that's so valuable and easy to make overall, not worth being cheap whilst using it
never really felt the need for more
the effect decay is only about 20% at half duration iirc
sure, i'll eat fresh before boss fights, but for normal exploration just one in the morning, one in the evening as i said
though i've been running a lot of FFS lately which makes it even less of an issue
They were moved from undead faction to plains faction during PTB.
killed about 20 wolves
no trophy
One of the most important thing in this game is preparation, not carrying food, for most people who may not have unlocked portals or carry one, will likely get them killed. You need to be prepared for all scenarios and that include carrying extra food in case you go out longer than you intended
So bring food OR portal mats, not both
same for your hoe, pickaxe, cultivator and whatever other crap people clutter up their inventories with - if you have a portal leave them at home unless you KNOW you'll need them.
So people should not carry something extremely essential in this game because some people struggle with inventory management?
Bring only 1 of each food so you get the 3 slots back when you eat the second time.
Carrying entire stacks of food is pointless.
That's the way I do it with portals, just 1 or 2 extra of each and I don't hesitate just dropping the 1 extra food if I want to pick up something
I usually use HSF food setup, having 1 HP and 1 stamina food in inventory and eat when they start to flicker.
The feast usually deteriorates slower due to longer duration so there is no big difference in stats when eating the other foods again.
Rough, but at least there are plenty of alternatives to the gear wolf trophy unlocks
pocket portals are basically mandatory in this game and its not a great mechanic
having them also hides a lot of other clunk spots that should be addressed, inventory being the most obvious
I'd say convenient and effective
I've never felt the need to carry a pocket portal, but I will do it when exploring new places.
I name it the Explortal
It's really easy to locate portal mats when you know every world source of the items needed as well.
Do like Medium and Major healing meads occupy them same debuff slot? I mean can I have both roling?
Or buff slot as well.
They do share the same timer
You have a easy to access inf storage back at base but yeah I do understand the mandatory portal
I accept that people carry them, but I don't fully understand the "why."
Because it is really easy to... not. 🤷♂️
Yeah, any item overflow I experience isn't typically from abundance of things I must bring home immediately. I will just drop a chest in a nearby structure and unload some things as I go.
Omni might be a squirrel 🤔
yeah exactly my point
the way to access your infinite storage is to watch two cutscenes of a spinning donut, which is weird/clunky
I definitely get the people who do no portal for the immersion but I'm not subjecting myself to that
Storing items inside his cheeks?
there's a fair few animals that do that, squirrels, hamsters, prisoners, chipmunks...
I usually have my whole hotbar full of tools/weapons so 8 slots?, 3 foods+ 2 meads, 6 slots for equipment and arrows, as well as 3 slots for portal sometimes. So an inventory update would def be nice, if im only gathering one or two different resources tho then it aint too bad as it usually adds up with max weight
People carrying all tools at all times is another thing on the "I accept but don't understand." list.
understanding is pretty easy tbh
No. I have no need for a cultivator inside a swamp crypt.
So why would I carry it?
No need to carry the seeds you find if you plant them where you found them.
I've been definitely carrying around too many weapons
but I last played in like 2022 and wanted to retry all the bronze weapons when I reached that stage, quite the grind it was. I've never progressed beyond the swamp though. Now on my new save I am trying to find the elder so I can start swamping again.
the game feels a lot better than it did a few years ago
Is it worth it to make a blackmetal axe for woodchopping
Not "worth it", you must
Necessary to progress further
You will need it later.
In next biome you will need black metal tier tools.
Or make battleaxe and use it as weapon and tool.

best inventory management= battleaxe and spear, no arrows one less tool
i do being shield too for some situations like parrying golems
A sword or even knife works to get some wood and even yggdrasil while exploring
Them branches don't always drop yggdrasil wood tho.
I know but it might still be my favorite way to easily get yggdrasil, just 1 shot the shoots you see on your path, drop the extra wood and it will stack up fast whilst you aren't really slowed down by it
i actually thought the tiny trees was how you got the wood when i first went to mistlands, the trees looked too decorative to chop, i couldnt picture them turning into straight valheim logs
so it was a pretty frustrating experience only sometimes getting the wood but i did lol. not sure when/how i figured it out
I carry a hammer because yes
same, but the great thing about a thing that cost a few stone and wood is you can drop it if you need
Dear devs, you really have a great community and of course a great game but...But Valheim is in EA for 5 years. We are now waiting 2 years for a new and final biome. Do you really think to say almost nothing to your fans about release and content is the best possible way to treat your community? I strongly think NO.
I strongly think patience is a virtue. It’s not like it’s been 5 years of nothing
Theres a channel literally called #news
We have steam, we have their official website
you should check the news channel theyve been regularly updating, there have been 2 new biomes since plains, a big combat update, fun updates, all kinds of fun stuff in the last 5 years you might want to check out!
Whre are the news about release? you are joking...
Because game development is not easy
They release the update when it's ready in their minds. Simple as that.
Please leave me out of your community 😉
ok you are not great.
And knowing aswell this is the final biome releasing in 1.0 they want it to be a great experience as much as possible
You should know what you are going into when buying game in Early Access.
yeah i really have a wonderful experience right NOW
So they're taking their time and patience to nitpick as much things the community wants
You have other games to play dont you?
Not just valheim...
Im currently playing factorio whilst waiting for an update patiently
i searched honestly very deep and long but did not find Valheim 2
I WANT the update to be good because I love this game
There is no Valheim 2.
And where did you get this info
???
Really? Do you know Ironie?
All I know is I never have enough iron.
You have just mentioned i have other games....No i have only Valheim
Honestly being experienced now a full longship of scrap should be enough till mistlands
Ironie is german
any one wanna play valheim
So the only game in your steam library is valheim
?
the only which i wanna put another 2k hours in it. Yes
I havent really built much with iron 🤔
Though 2 is still quite a bit
Every placement matters
For support
Only times I ever used iron for building is roofing
usually i get by with just core wood but been building with stone and all that so it's been costly
Im pretty sure you can get a 3 if not a 4 story with good placement of stone buildings
Go for it no ones stopping you just be a bit more patient on the update 🫠
Got some stone floors as roofs goin that's the issue
Ah, yeah iron is needed really
No other way
hm so you really say 5 Years in EA and 2 years plus X waiting time for one biome and then ONE Question to the devs i s sign of not being patient???
I play tf2...
There hasnt been any major update on that game
is 2x2 iron cage every 6 meters the most efficient way to hold a stone floor or is it beams?
i think iron cage 🤔
O I have a thought why not put them in the corners
Save a bit more iron
so you think its a shame to ask devs.....Believe it or not...i strongly have a different opinion.
Snap to either 1 2 3 4
same
i have hoe on my hotbar for the entire run also
There have been cases when game was released in Early Access and shortly got abandoned and never gotten full release, then there have been games that were in Early Access for short time and get full release but then have to add many hotfixes for fixing stuff that went wrong with 1.0 version. Then there is 7DTD that was 10 years on Early Access.
In case of Valheim I'm confident we are getting great 1.0 release.
i used to do this also but found myself returning to have food in inventory because it became tedious to go back to base. i dont only re-eat when its seconds left, i re-eat to get full effect of food
I forgot this game was actually still in early access lol, it's more finished than the majority of things that are called a full release nowadays
koyi hai kya sath main khelega
English please.
Dang, I really suck at this game lolol
Time to go to some burial chambers, I need to find the elder vegvisir
I get it 5+2 more years and waiting currently for the last biome but you gotta understand, the people behind valheim are passionate about this game, they want it to be polished as possible and make the community happy, but you also gotta understand development is not easy especially with a low number dev team they want people with an interest that may work on the game, the news channel is there if they HAVE something to say and share
Plus this could be the last major update we'll probably get, im positive the IronGate team is working well behind the scene
Im praying for a great update
A bad full release would be a game killer.
Anybody remember Cube world?
And if I have to wait another year for it to release... I will wait
Howdy peeps would be the best channel if I'm trying to recruit people to play on a modded server?
#1024264966712340510 Got you covered
Thanks my man
If I want to tame another lox, do I need to put it in a different pen from the one I already have tamed
Tamed creatures wont attack their own kind
So they're generally safe
With the exception of one late game tamable you'll encounter in the future
Though I would still recommend separating them so you can access the tamed one safely
A deep pit will do
Can lox damage blackmarbel?
Yeah while they are running they destroy everything
Well dang there goes my idea for a pen
What tier of damage do their trample do?
I read from others they can be used for tree farms for easy chopping of chopped down logs
But I haven't tried myself
No idea, I just know they damage things while riding them and running or if they are just running because they are frightened
Oh they are amazing at chopping wood, while running you can just run through a forest and they will just destroy anything on their path
Hmm interesting might transport a pair to my tree farm
I make pens for them in no map no portals playthrough and I love using them, pens are fine as long as you just walk them in and out without running and make sure things dont wander close to the pens so they start stomping
I've never taken the time to tame them mostly because people normally quit before we make it to the plains
Burn out and liking raging too much because of the bzzztttttt lil guy
The youch kind
This game is like Minecraft everybody gets that two week itch and then kind of burn out
And yes I hate the little buzz buzz but I learned that they have super low block and you can parry them
I believe anything past iron will stop them
That too but it's easier to parry them I think because they sit still when you do the amount of times I've tried the preemptively swing and miss just to die sucks
Remember my first time stumbling upon the plains by accident and seeing that bug fly towards me
"it can't be that dangerous" I was thinking to myself
You'll learn the timing eventually
The first encounter I had with them was by simply sailing too close then getting sniped out of my boat
There's many good ways to deal with them, the difficulty is paying attention of your surrounding so you either see them coming or take them out from a distance
EARPHONES/HEADPHONES
We're playing a modded playthrough so there's way worse things we keep encountering
Literally saved me many times
That's last resort as they are coming for you!
But I like listening to my music while I'm chilling in velheim
100% certain you guys downloaded a dragon mod xd
No not yet we downloaded the RtD pack
It adds wandering undead enemies that spawn at night as well as corrupted versions of the biomes
I don't know much about the modding side of valheim but it sounds cool
It's actually super easy to do
I downloaded a the mod manager from thunderstore and it worked easy
Dodge roll... ||into another seemingly invisible deathsquito||
My biggest love in this game is the building I haven't found another game that I enjoy the building mechanics in nearly as much
And the idea that you're actually rewarded for putting in the time and effort to decorate your surroundings is nice since it gives you better rested buffs
Me too! The building in this game is probably my favorite part
That's why I love the mod that we have for the server that lets you like save blueprints so I can go into my creative world test something out and then we can build it in the survival world
That and me personally I love taking the structures in the game and converting them into my own That's why I love building in the Black Forest the most because of all the abandoned towers and stuff
Usually my go-to for first serious base as well
Oh yeah nothing makes you feel safer than being able to hide in one of the stone structures early game
That or I like to hollow out the large rocks and build inside of them
Been using a spear and shield to some effect. I did too much to say "good effect." Now that I'm moving into bronze, I see the bronze spear, but there is also the atgier. Anyone have strong feelings for or against?
I love spears.
Atgeir will save you an inventory slot because it needs no shield, and has a great aoe secondary for dealing with groups.
damn.. how do yall keep up with the material demands of eiter food? i got to mistlands this weekend and grinded out all the cores/eitr for a full mage set of staffs, gear, trinket, etc. I was super excited to play as a mage, but it feels like keeping up with the food is just way more intense than non eitr food.. like i need to spend way more time grinding ingredients/farming in order to cast my damn spells 😭
it makes me really wish the magic gear had a set bonus for even like.. idk.. 25 eitr on it so i could do SOMETHING without the expensive food
it gets better once you get to ashlands
until then i'd probably go with seeker aspic and stuffed mushroom unless you have a lot of sap extractors
Sap is really the main thing you farm, and you have to spend about the same amount of time farming it as any crop you would also farm. 🤔
i do have a fair bit of extra sap right now, but the recipe for porridge burns through my sap and wheat stores so quickly lol
maybe ill hold off on magic til i get some ashlands materials if it gets easier then
you can just skip the porridge for stuffed mushroom and seeker aspic to keep material costs down
porridge is horribly inefficient
How often are you eating?
Does it block as well as shield?
Beats the Wood Shield.
But the Bronze Buckler is the single largest defensive spike in the game, so if you want the blocking power you're better going spear + buckler until you get to iron.
mostly when the food buff is gone, or if its low and something dangerous is happening. idk i just notice i have to do way more active farming for magic food than i do with my physical set, where i can usually get away with a set of easy to make, lesser food 90% of the time
with my physical set i'm usually running around with cooked seeker, onion soup, and sausage.. very easy recipes. i only go for more material intense food for dangerous fights
basically there just doesnt seem like an equivalent for like.. mid-quality eitr food that is easy to make for just running around the world
Appreciate the advice. I'll try the atgier, and see how it does. AOE sound good against the hoards of greylings I've been fighting.
Ok, was just making sure you aren't eating more immediately when it flashes like some people do.
Seeker Aspic is probably the cheapest? Because you'll be absolutely swimming in meat and jelly from doing just a couple mines. Then just farm the magecaps.
Same with Stuffed Mushroom.
So I'd say sticking with Porridge is probably the highest-costing one, and why you're hitting a slight wall with it. 🤷♂️
AoE swipe attack is super strong as it has high stagger multiplier and knockback too.
You can manage trolls easily with it.
Just stick to dodging trolls instead of trying to block and you'll be fine.
hmm ok ill try focusing on those recipes/materials
That does sound good.
Haven't quite gotten the hang of dodging yet, but blocking doesn't work. 😂
Should be easy to get the hang of when you focus on it.
Animations are telegraphed and you have a very generous window to do your roll.
roll iframes are 0.56s
Last time I fought one was on broken terrain, and had bonus greylings, so "focus" was not a thing.
Also, I get too caught up in the stabbing, and miss my chance. Blocking does not interrupt my attack, sadly.
A parried troll attack gives you a huge damage window to potentially stagger lock them..if you haven’t outright killed them in those few hits
Bucklers are soooooooo good
I'm enjoying the block function. I understand the parry, though my timing is too poor to reliably pull it off.
Of course if I keep fighting these greylings, I'm sure to get the hang of it.
I've hope the elder is gonna be on my spawn island but he isn't. So now I am sailing long distance for the first time
pretty Fun actually, quie fast even without the sail
Is there no plains-tier spear?
that's sad
So far spears have had no gaps between previous biomes.
regular spear or "combat spear"?
Spears only have a gap in the plains I believe 🤔
Spears as weapon type in this game.
yeah, was gonna say they both have gaps
Mfw no ash tier atgeir
should be a deathsquito spear really
Give them a taste of their own medicine, poetic even
what materials and properties would you attribute to it?
vilebone spear!!
Didn't even think about it, now I think it would be so cool.
same, just thought of it
now i want a vilebone club to go with the set’s blunt/pierce bonus. big ol’ vilebone skull on a femer
Vilebone spear: does extra damage to the living, as opposed to spirit damage that deals extra damage to undead and the like.
Reminds me of the dragonbone weapon set in Skyrim, they look so badass
Except the 2 handed hammer looks wack.
the battleaxe and greatsword were so cool. skyrim nailed their gear art so hard
HA!… whack!
well now i have to google bone weapons to remember. member skyrim?
ahhhh yeah. god the blades just LOOK so sharp. ok enough skyrim. and yeah the clubs are whack XD
The armor is wicked cool too
whats awesome is they nailed the heavy AND light
I got to the elder island, had no rested buff and got met with a shaman, brute, troll and a bear. What a shit fight it was.
Worse than the actuall boss
id rather fight any boss rather than a collective of its biome's large units+trash or any 2 star mob they do less damage and have easier mechanics
A bear and troll both healed by a 1 star shaman was really just the worst possible combo
Anyway, time to go to the sawmp and die
(I think I am actually pretty well prepared)
Got the healing and poison resist mead
yeah that's rough lol
you should be good
I was quite worried about setting out for the sea, cause the last time I did was 4 years ago and on just a raft. I really love it now though, I find it really quite exciting
haha... understandable. first time sailing was also on a raft, seemed like a good idea, they're insane in storms. i agree sailing is super fun, part of why i like no portals, storms hit, snakes attack, i find new places, a snake attacks my boat and makes me crash land in a biome i'm not at yet, it's great times
Damn it, second time I reach my destination and theres a stupid bear.
The game wants me to make a berserker set
do it! did u know their lunging swipe is super weak? you can easily parry it and get off a full combo
ah that's cool, thanks
I think it might be a little late for the berserk set now though, I am close to getting swamp stuff
just watch for the teeth.... the teeth are NOT super weak..
im about to go mountains but i wear berserker for stamina regen and wood cutting
oh I would have never thought of that!
Dang, I’ve got plenty of black metal, but not enough iron 💔
I didn’t realize I would need so much iron on the plains 😭
Welp time to find another swamp
Go show those Draugr who’s boss!
Or check out a sealed tower and get some iron and more from there.
hit crafting 100 for the first time ever
wow, how long did it take?
That's about what I expected
You’re probably the first 😂
Any tips on not getting smoked by the plains?
🤔 what's killing you?
what part of the plains
Stop trying to pet the big fluffly lizards
Root Harnesk helps a lot
I’ve been playing for 3 years and got to mistlands in singleplayer for the first time
String out the little gribbly guys so you can fight them one-on-one
Snipe the berserkers, if you have the huntsman’s bow it’s super good
I highly recommend making a ditch around your base as well
Nice! 🤘
id also just generally avoid tar pits
and if you dont, drag the tar mobs to fulling villages and watch as the fulings melt
those tar guys are OP af
if you want even more pierce resist, you can use the serpent scale shield although its a tower
lowkey that surprises me, do you just play a lot of multiplayer?
He’s been so busy testing and learning the inner workings of Valheim, he forgot to play
I play a lot of multiplayer with people who stop playing in early biomes
almost all of my singleplayer playtime is doing science, I've had a few singleplayer worlds before but moved on to other games between the elder and yagluth.
this world was started for the bog witch in 2024, I continued it recently instead of starting a new world because I've replayed the early biomes so many times
guys how do i convince my friends to get valheim and play it with me
What games are they currently playing, if any?
constant pestering or gift it to them
js counter strike 2 lmao
How many times have you managed to ‘finish’ the game with friends? It's nearly impossible for me T-T
I try to kinda plan a playthrough in advance. So like all my friends currently, I told them we should play Valheim this year, and we try to set aside deviated time for it
already pestering them and i doubt if i gifted it to them they would even touch it
your friends wont play a free game gifted to them? 🤨
they call all games friendslop ive got like no chance
sounds like you need better friends
also counter strike over valheim? really?
in what world is that even a fair comparison
I beat the queen twice when she was the final boss, I haven't been to ashlands singleplayer or multiplayer yet
what im saying, they said that valheim graphics are bad ,shit made me cringe
There may be no convincing them honestly lol. But idk, another I do is I’ll send pictures (we have a discord server) of games I like to kinda show-off what I’m doing to try and sow interest.
yh what i was thinking aswell
Bonus points if you already have at least one other person playing with you, then it’s like “look what me and firmed have accomplished today!” With a cool screenshot of you and your friend with Eikthyrs head lol
i js find it crazy that they all got new pcs and everything for christmas and i havent seen them on another game apart from cs2
That’s just how some gamers are, just the way it is lol
i mean theres only 3 of us that play together cus the rest js dissapeared after everyone got into college
so if 2 of us are playing the same game then all of us are
but thanks for the help ill try it
For some specific reason or did you simply not feel like going?
Everyone in those multiplayer worlds either played through game pass and don't own the game now or they do own the game and don't want to play it
I've been through ashlands with command characters so I've at least had some experience there
but never in a full singleplayer playthrough
If i didn’t hold the playthroughs back due to my slow pace gaming style at the moment, I’d play with you Bloby
did anyone make a speedrun yet how long do you think it would be
wow thats fast
but also a long speedrun
i bet my save is like 50 hours of play time to reach boss 5
Bro why do they make bears spawn so earlier in the black forest now? The fuck am I suppose to do after beating eikthyr
fight the bear
they wouldnt be in black forest if you aren't meant to kill them after eikthyr
It's a completely different story xD, if you (group or alone) are easily overwhelmed, that biome could cause so much pain so be careful when you reach it ^^
And how exactly? They have absurd amounts of HP and 2 shot me
Use ||torches|| and you could easily defeat them >:D
well if you cant dodge then its time to learn i guess
they resist pierce and blunt, were you using a bow? (use an axe)
I can dodge but can't attack after.
if you have an upgraded wood shield you should be able to parry the swipe attacks (ONE paw raised)
two paws or no paws is a more damaging attack
The safest method is using torches (5-6), because they are frightened of fire. They should not attack while you have a torch in your hand and are looking at them, so you can constantly hitting and never getting attacked
looking at them doesn't matter
this game is fun I like this game
eh it's alright
Yeah it’s decent
After 3560+ hours figuring out the game I could say it's okay, sure.
Same. MAY leave a positive review, still undecided
Hello there,
so time ago I was concerned with minimal lags in my base. I asked around here and I was informed that if I have more than 10k instances in near proximity, game might start eat out my CPU.
I checked stats inside my base - I have 18k instances and still 50fps. Now it might be understandable that game struggles a little bit ;D
On the positive note, I plan to expand base with one more building with new materials from Deep North. I hope my PC will survive this ;D
where are all the damn trolls?
I haven't seen any in ages I gotta complete my set
I spoke too soon
btw they reallly got to work on the pathfinding for the AI, especially trolls
I've been just standing here shooting him and he hasn't done a thing
I'm happy the way it is.
I am by no means an expert, but I found some fps increase with high instance count when in launch options I have " -gfx-enable-gfx-jobs -gfx-enable-native "
#valheim-help message There's also this if you haven't looked at it
Smiffe has been saying we shouldn't have issues until around 30,000 instances now. So hopefully that will be how it is for you.
And 50 fps isn't bad. Try playing with 6 fps. 😂
It definitely sucked for my friend. He has a much better system now.
https://www.twitch.tv/anom2685 Come watch us drunkenly figure out emotes in the hot tub and chat shit wooooooooooooooo
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202323242891612230 would be place for these announcements. 👍
As long as it's your own content ofc, check the channel description for more info.
ow, cool! that sounds comforting - I was afraid that when I start that one more building, couple stone walls and fps will drop radically ;p
bruh this feels unfair
#screenshots message
when we returned, they weren't even on the same island
What are good weapons for fighting vile? Wiki says weak to fire, would fire arrows be good? Wish there was a higher tier version of them.
Thanks:) my silver sword got deleted due to a server crash, but I have a battle axe, and frostner
I'd use battleaxe over frostner
Frostner is gonna be less effective b/c of the resistance to blunt/frost
is there a brand new server anyone knows about what to start fresh and my buddies stopped playing valheim
Only system for finding them.
Oh god damn it Yagluth is resistant to pierce damage 😔
or frost arrows.
Not best. But best arrows.
Yes, that's what I meant.
I actually just finished him, again, with that exact combination.
which reminds me, I need to buy some herbs.
actually i feel like the berserkir axes, nidhogg, dyrwyn, slayer, or drundr would be best 😉
They're 2 biomes ahead
right but they are still the best 😉
later weapons > early bosses
But in the context of whats best against that boss in that particular game progression
Silver sword will do
wow call the joke an airplane the way its flying over your head
They're in plains progression dont spoil them with the toys we have 🫠
the real gamer strat is beating it with the wooden club
Your answer is technically correct and yet still 100% unhelpful.
Experienced players: beats the sh- out of bosses with a glowing stick
can confirm
Is frostner alright?
It's alright, yes. Silver sword has better damage against his weaknesses, unless your sword skill is low.
iirc its the second best against yagluth
wiki at least says he doesn't have any weaknesses, period
I dont use frostner that often anymore because im a sword main

and he's not resistant to anything that frostner does
Silver sword has very high spirit damage
I've never used a sword in this game 😂
There are some nice ones coming up.
Trust, using weapons that a boss has a weakness too will yield better results
Even in the last current biome silver sword can do decently well in ashlands
Yeah, I've been doing that, but since I've already got a max rank Frostner and a decent club skill
Compared to no silver sword and no sword skill
Go for it, clubs not bad against yagluth aswell its good
Especially frostner
Mmhm mmhm
If I had those weapons I wouldn't be hunting viles
Are atgeirs worth making?
I have tried out the bronze one but I am not that impressed
Actually, probably not until the black metal one?
I mean tehnically you could be farming bear meat and hide
I just don't think they're as useful until then
If you're struggling with crowd control its good even the previous atgeir from BF > Swamp
Maybe you want to have a blackmetal chest filled completely for every item in the game
Well, the ones that can be
I really like the bows, but mostly because I do archery irl
I'm hating it
You have +10 in survivability irl
Well it's alright if you just don't use the secondary
But in truth 99% of players use it BECAUSE of the secondary attack
Its just too powerful
To put aside
And yet I feel we both have put it aside
Same reason I gave up on bows. It just didn't feel balanced / engaging
Thats me yes, I like swords because
1-looks cool
2-looks cool
3-big sword in both late game biome
4-fat damage
I've been warming up to swords a lot lately. Especially for Ashlands
Though I still use axes/knives/fist weapons/spears a lot. I like to change it up everytime I enter a new biome
a maxed out mistlands progression himmanafl with a decent atgeir level can stagger a morgen
My exception to this is the crossbow
The damge is just too JUICY to put aside
light armor + atgeir is pretty fun honestly
my favorite fantasy is mace + shield + heavy armor though
Especially if its a sneak attack
I feel cool
is the spear the funniest weapon
Hmm weapon level affects stagger? Or is it damage based
Crossbow I still use. It doesn't feel unbalanced to me unless you're really trying to get on an unreacheable cliff and spam bolts for 10 minutes
Stagger is physical + lightning damage so weapon skill and quality level affect it
Right i get that, but i thought the atgeir secondsry staggered stuff because it had a high stagger value
generally 1 damage = 1 unit of stagger
Some weapons can multiply this bonus, so like 1 damage on a mace secondary = 2 units of stagger. And elements (other than lightning) don't cause stagger
6x staggering
does weapon damage affect the rate at which you level up your weapon skill>
I might trigger a bunch of spear fans but I hate to say it, it has bad scaling
So the atgeir secondary has a high stagger multi?
Don't get me wrong I always use it in Meadows and Blackforest but later on... no
Thus more damage makes it work
Nope, only the number of times you swing your weapon and hit something.
Which is why something like a knife will level faster than a sword, bc of attack speed
I built a spear in the swamp and the mountain as well because they're cheaper than alternatives 😂
at first, that is
and then I switched to something else
I won't stop you if you like the spear but to me its not worth it
so terrorizing greylings with the wooden practice weapons would be a decent leveling strategy, perhaps
Later on you'll be encountering enemies that are either resistance to pierce or resistance to all physical types of dmg
mmhm, pierce is a rough damage type to be reliant on
Definitely not everyone's taste, has a lot of pros and a few cons that are devastating to some ppl
I don't recall them scaling poorly throughout the game though, other than being terrible for ashlands
Yeah I wouldn't recommend using ONLY a spear. Unless you are using a slash weapon, it's kinda nice to have options on your damage types
Meadows very good
Blackforest very good
Swamps oof
Mountains is alright
Plains is alright
Mistlands oof
Ashlands just pick something else please
Hm, I have no issue with spear in swamps or mistlands
Though I don't use it for the boss
I just hate the attack hitbox of the spear, it feels wonky
used to be worse lmao
Oh you dont wanna meet old spear
Yeah that's the general hate for spear I see, which is very valid.
Personally I kinda like the hitbox
Jesus Christ 😭
Unlike mace or knife you're not randomly splitting your damage with other enemies or dungeon walls with spear
That is a point
But for most it's tough to get used to the range/positioning and just not worth it
If crossbow bolts can be laced with elemental properties COUNT ME IN
As long as it's not frost, I'd be down
I've learned how terrible ranged frost is for the game with frost arrows
Poison would be cool on a crossbow. Slow enough attack speed to make use of the poison ticks
Ashlands poison crossbow is sucj little poison tho, and if iirc enemies tend to be immune or resistant to it
Undead correct me if im wrong resistant or immune
Busted for fortresses
no lol
Sniping enemies
you're better off with any other thing
This one, the rest of the elemental dmgs are doing fine
Eh, I don't mind the poison mechanics. I feel it's cool that it's an element that requires you pace your attacks, which makes it ideal for fighting groups where you can apply it to a group and back off, or keep switching targets for optimal damage
Currently it just sucks though because enemies are immune and it's such low damage. Like in exchange for poison not stacking, it should have way higher damage values on weapons
Maybe increase the dmg as you pump more poison arrows into your enemeis
Just like how fire damage stacks in the both yagluth's fire and fader's fissure attacks
yup like how any other sensible damage over time mechanic works
The way poison stands it's just the worst type of damage possible
Like why not just do all of your damage all at once, or do damage over time (but have it do more damage overall because you lose the benefit of the damage being upfront)
This is just game design101
Well that's why it needs the offset of having more base damage
more base damage, but have it actually stack
if it doesn't stack it's still worse off
I kinda like the elements being differentiated though
they can still be differentiated and unique
If it stacks it'll feel pretty similar to fire and somewhat similar to spirit
how does poison work?
Like choose between a knife doing 10 fire damage that you can use for hacking away at a single target, or a knife that does 30 poison damage that you can use for better optimal damage against a group of enemies by swapping targets
they could easily make it so poison does more damage when target is less than half health or something, give it an "execute" quality to it which would give it a usecase here
Basically fire stacks its damage. So if you hit a target with two fire arrows at once doing 10 fire damage each, it'll deal 20 damage total
Poison overides other active poison sources (does not stack). So if you hit a target with 2 poison arrows at once doing 10 poison damage each, you'll deal 10 poison damage total
That does sound enticing
oh...
that's unfortunate
Yeah, poison really sucks
Plus a good amount of enemies are immune to it
If I sign out of my offline world while taming lox, will I lose my acclimatizing progress?
No, it'll just be where it is until you return
thank you
man i really hate dying in this game
quite right so you should. much consequences for dying.
the important thing is you learn and come back stronger!
DnD raised that boy
the thing is im not learning i just keep dying bro
two star draugr btw
easy enemie
there was also an elite and i panicked
and it was in the sunken crypts so i was low on room
remain calm lol
whats the best armour set or combination to use? we are in the swamp now but we feel iron is too heavy and are unsure if to keep troll or use root etc
Not really any "Best". just depends on if you want speed to avoid attacks/getting caught, or armor to tank hits. Doing a mix of things can feel pretty good.
Personally I'd recommmend metal helmets though, those give a lot of armor but DONT slow you down
yh i was thinking root helm root chest the rest troll
And yeah, the root chestpiece is gonna be kinda broken both for swamps and most later biomes even in the endgame
am i throwing by making the first iron tool we have a mace ?
i was thinking the mace for the bone mass boss but we aint no where near that stage yet
honestly make the pickaxe
this way u have the iron and bronze one
we have loads of iron cooking but i was thinking the best iron weapon
If you already know that you are going to make many iron tools/weapons and you have the iron for a few of them now, the order probably doesn't matter.
Maybe it would matter a little if you only had enough iron for one tool/weapon rn.
I actually never made the bronze pickaxe in my current playthrough. I mined the Iron with antler pickaxe. It was ok and I can repair it right at the swamp with just the workbench.
oof thats lowkey smart
yeah me and my buddy is playing together so just trying to think ahead as we need double of everything
yeah every biome we made a base at and had to pretty much reset every biome lmao
Yeah.. two people is faster to gather resources but you also need more.
grindy haha
got a portal for bronze age iron age and just a random portal to a troll cave haha
also can we talk about how ANNOYING the bow fallen dead are
forget there names there so op
The Draugr?
yes
Forbidden knowledge, but you can, for some reason, parry the arrows
Draugr?
Ranged draugr are annoying indeed 😅
yeah i accidentally found that out spamming getting mad loool
They can be annoying, though. Just gotta be careful where you die to avoid getting basically camped put of your loot
im killing the abominations just spamming parry underneath it is nice
I usually use the fire arrows for the Abominations. At least in the beginning when I have low armour. Because if I fail a parry they almos one shot me.
It gets better when you get to the next biome
yeah my buddy sits with the fire arrows i was a massive sweat on elden ring so iframes and parrys are my go 2
Light mountain spoilers ||Silver weapons often have the Spirit damage, meaning undead take DOTs||
In my current playthrough, I actually moved on to the Mountains without killing Bonemass. Just trying to shake my playstyle a bit.... I usually end up playing very standard and linear. I wanted it to be a little different this time.
the mountains are scary i was freezing to death and just eaten by wolfs lol
im designated wolf food as well
they like to chomp my booty
And I'm trying to go with the armours that don't need so many metals. The heavy armours are the grindiest ones...
The freeze will be fine with the potion, if you can make it already.
The "doggos" I guess you have to parry them, or try to sneak with bow and arrow before they see you. But yeah, they are fast too, so running away isn't always the best option.
bad doge
frost resist potion for the freezing, kill them first for the wolves they're glass cannons and stagger easily don't feel you need to dodge or parry just kill them.
so iron axe is just sliiightly better then bronze one?
at least I hope that sledge was worth crafting
If the player just left the Swamp recently and doesn't have a lot of armour rating, not dodging/not parrying may mean that the wolves almost one hit the player. So it might be good to try and dodge at least. They stagger easily, but they also stagger us. And if there's two wolves together, which happens often, being staggered by one of them just means we die 💀
bouta fight a 2 star abomination wish us luck
Modded?
nah i was trolling dont even know if thats a thing
Damn
yo i just got jumped by wraiths never seen them before
Night time
i appreciate the meadows after being in the swamp
Finally got a tenth flame core, so I can run a smelter and a kiln at the same time.
right, but the thing about wolves is they attack so fast if you dodge they're ready to bite you again, might as well time your attack the first time instead of dodging and THEN timing your attack. and if there are two their attacks could stagger in a way that you can't dodge again before the second bites you. best thing is to just swing at them like you're at batting practice.
Hey guys I have a question
yh
we may or may not have an answer
@shy scarab
I couldn’t post the pictures in here I put it in Screenshots. And my question
Odin
Just spying on you
you're labeled a "likely spammer" which might have something to do with it
lol I thought he wasn’t real XD
i have to click to show your message which i did out of morbid curiosity
Yea because Fricking discord said I was Spamming
All I did was send 2 DMs
were you DMing spam?
karve is so fun
Sorry. I am flying, and I boarded right after my post
does rotating the seedling affect the orientation of the grown tree?
Do the traders all give the same exchange rate for rubies and amber etc?
where are we headed and is there food
This one is actually interesting, though I havent tried myself but give it a try honestly
Im not sure but once the seedling has grown the rotation is probably randomized
looks like it does,, the first ttwo grew exactly the same, I replanted it and deliberately rotated it and it grew different, could still be random smh
Give it another try just incase
could just be absolute luck, but if the rotation matter than thats nice for decoration
Nothing like structural stability provided by a few nice trees in the base haha
misstlands/ashlands
the gameplay is significantly different compared to average survival game I'd sa
Some may, but then again many people quit around swamps/mountains/plains etc.
Mistlands has different approach compared to all previous biomes where going slower and relying more on hearing becomes important due to limited vision.
Personally, it's my favorite biome.
I say ashlands is
not very well designed
It would be better if there is PROPER dvergr fortresses, and the fallen fortress are actual dungeons in comparison to what we have
it would also mean more rewards
rn ashlands gems can only give like enough upgrades to a server for like, at max 8-10 people
another way I would approach it is to give occasional minibosses fights in ashlands that will reward a gem as rewards
that way gems are farmable
Me too
Yeah I love that type of challenge
And the general ambience there is quite magical
Same, when DN hits I will just rush Ashlands with my friend.
I've yet to experience the Ashlands but I imagine it will sort of feel like the planes of oblivion or something
An intense hellscape that makes going back to our cosy base all the more cherishable
For me i would say ashlands is the definition of, "everywhere in that biome is not 100% safe"
Danger wont leave you alone while traversing the ashlands
Can't wait
Did I hear "mistlands favourite biome"?!!
I agree with the first sentence, after past blackforest is when alot quit really, the ramp up in difficulty in swamps can be overwhelming too
The mistlands are so beautiful. The game in general is one of the most splendid looking ever
But there also other factors aswell such as the new resources, new biome in general, and more challenging hostiles
I just notice the yagluth boss spot in my world has a 1 fuling camp near it
Quitting on the first death is super lame
Mine had a tar pit right next to it
And fuling & squitos kept joining the party
Yep. Need to do some heavy cleanup then. 😉
Also my yagluth boss spot is bad, its not centered in the land and its on the spot where there is downward slope hill
which is annoying so i have to like avoid that direction
I mean in the early game wont be too harsh
But possibly later on it can be punishing
But that depends on other players patience level
I guess I can maybe forgive quitting on swamp. It's quite grindy and not everyone can vibe with the dark and toxic ambience of it
10/10 Yagluth fight, just defeated him
I will say I like the theme for swamp
The violin part of it to be more specific
I like the tone
Also the music when fighting him 10/10
You're gonna like the next boss after yagluth
Or hate I should say
Depends on your experience
Well, im gonna avoid her, because of the raid she will give after defeating her
Yeah the music can really help sometimes
First time in mistlands, i finish plains like couple of times before mistlands ashlands was introduced
You need her for progression
Can't pack a sword and shield, too low of range
Can't use an atgeir, latest one is iron
Sword and shield is literally good in plains
Shamans decide to summon 2 different 1 star enemies and blast you with 16 tick DOTs
Yeah for the thing, but you can traverse in the ashlands with 1 item
Why can't you use it
And trying to get back to your corpse to loot it is also a gamble of if no deathsquitos spawn
Im seeing a pattern
You're using a weapon that is 2 tiers behind. It won't kill much
Hmm right
I've killed 2 villages with only iron gear
When it was my first time playing valheim
Well, good for you
